Her lessons focus more on conversation so u have plenty of chances to practise while also learning the grammar from the main textbook. Really appreciate all your content uploads so far. I ended up watching the passive voice lesson too. I liked your video with Rina-sensei and took a lesson with her. She used the sentence: アリゾナ州に住まれているんですね。 Passive voice is another way to show respect. I've never used it that way before though. Actually, as far as keigo goes, I've not gone beyond -mas and desu in my speaking. Japanese people use all sorts of keigo when talking to me though so I'm forced to understand it 😂.
Haha, I'm impressed you had to patience to sit through the passive voice part of the lesson. I can usually understand it when I hear it, but I find it difficult to use it naturally in Japanese. I guess I just need more practice. How did your lesson with Rina san go?
@@GermaineJapanese it was really amazing. She’s so much fun to talk to. She also said I could upload our lesson to my little UA-cam channel but the recording got messed up. There was a network hiccup about 5 to 10 min into the lesson and it fixed itself but on the recording she has a horrible echo for some reason. She’s back in California btw for 3 months visiting the same family she nannied for.
Hello Germaine! I've been studying Japanese since May this year and have been following your videos for learning as well so first thank you for that! Usually I find it hard to follow conversations without subs but these two videos with Naoko sensei I'm happy I could understand around 70%~80% of the stuffs said, albiet with the help of subs. Does Naoko sensei give you the recording and the subtitles as a practice to every students? @@mehdi76302 Well before I really started studying seriously, I had some exposure to the language from: 1. Japanese animes, games etc 2. My boss is a Japanese and I work in a Japanese oversea company branch 3. My knowledge of Mandarin helps me to understand kanji, even if I dont know how to read it. In fact, that is how I can play Japanese games in full Japanese prior to my studies. So yep, not a total beginner per se😅😅
Oh yeah my iTalki teacher last night did 8 with her hand to show 8 days. I was listening to her say 8 and (to me) she was showing me 5 with her hand. I was so confused. Then a bit later I saw the three below, pressed up against her palm, blending right in there. Now that I know to look for it I'm sure it won't be an issue but that really threw me off.

I still can’t get over the fact that the teacher was all about teaching you a little pottery while she taught Japanese and you’re like, pottery? Yeah I made this piece right here. UA-cam is having issues with your video (maybe because you just posted it) so I’ll finish watching later. I’m not sure if I’ll make it though the passive voice though. Grammar puts me to sleep. 文法に寝かされます。

Yeah that's definitely air quotes. Japanese quotes look different so I can see why it wouldn't get it without explaining it.
