My orchid has been in bloom for over 3 years and the flower stem is so, so long and hard to deal with. How long do they normally last? It looks happy to keep going as more buds are forming.

Typically flower spikes last a few months, however some can last years. I have one in my grow room that has also been in bloom for several years. That is one of the reasons I don’t cut off the spikes unless they dry up, it can rebloom!

Danielle, can you tell me about growing orchids in an airconditioned room....I live in Atlanta, GA and we cannot exist without aircondition. I keep my orchids in the kitchen near a sliding glass door, and about 5 ft. away from the a/c vent.....do you have any hints???

I actually have an air-conditioning unit in my orchid room, because it gets intensely hot in that room. I just make sure that the vent for the AC is pointed away from the orchids and they are all fine. I think your plant should be fine as long as the cold air is not blowing directly on it.

Thank you Danielle! I am rescuing a friend's Phal (which she gifted to me). It had stem rot, root rot and one viable root. I'm using water culture to rehab it and am happy it has 2 new root buds. I have been growing indoor plants for over 50 years but this is my first orchid rescue. I learn so much from your videos! As far as leaves go it has 2 droopy but all green leaves and a new one that was just emerging when I took ownership so I am encouraged!!

I've tried the water rescue. After one day the root was plump and green. I poured out the water the next day but within hours the root was gray and dry looking. I added the water back and the root is not plumb and green again. What next

Thanks for the interesting video about these plants. There is a lot of people out there they’ve got these sort of ones and there’s not much online to tell you about them so I’m glad you’re here. Thanks very much. Catch you soon
