Just transferred my mini orchids to WC. One had a healthy root system, the other orchid was showing some distress. They were gifts from my sister a day ago and really fond of them. Your Part 2 in the series helped me identify the problem. Fingers crossed. I’ve never had an orchid survive.

Danielle, I’ve decided to comment on this your last video (I really hope there are many to come) I am from Barcelona -Spain. I just love plants in general and I have many of different types and I’ve always known how to take care of them, keep them alive and make them grow and bloom….. With one big exception:…. ORCHIDS!!! 😡. I used to say I didn’t like them, that they were so delicate, they were too “posh” 🤣. So, I kept avoiding them. Whenever someone gifted me one, I either kill her or gave her away (because I did not want to see her die). Less than a month ago (May 1 2024), a job colleage took to the office a dying phal orchid, she was given for Christmas. She asked me if I could save her (as she knows how much I love plants) without knowing I “hated” orchids. 😅. I couldn’t say NO. So I brought her home and ask God for help to save this Phal (I don’t even know the color of her flowers). I started searching in UA-cam for instructions, and everything sounded difficult and illogical, until I got to your channel… I have converted her to FWC, following your advices, only lost one leaf (which was damaged anyway) and some roots, but in general she is doing ok. The 3 leaves left are not wrinkled any more and every day she has less rotten roots and growing more 🎉If she survives will be thanks to you, an Orchid Angel 😇. The “problem” is that since then and felling the success of this method I’ve already bought and rescued 12 more Phal orchids… !!! 😂😂😂😂. All converted to WC. Thank you for this new hobby and passion, I’m watching all and every video of yours from the beginning (we have such similar stories) and learning every day. Sorry for this long comment and thank you again Danielle. ❤..

I love your videos and your phalaenopsis are amazing. I have watched your videos multiple times and was wondering when you do your once a month fertilising with kelp and also calcium/nitrate, how long do you soak your orchids in these supplements for? Thanks Ingrid xx

    Very well done Danielle! 🙌
I placed my Maxilaria Tentafora in cattleya bright light with no winter fertilizer a month ago. 🤞Hope she blooms 🤞 And...guess what...I just successfully divided one of my cattleya's. They look great so far. 4 bulbs per division and lot's of healthy roots! I'm happy 😊 Your fellow orchid lover, Sharon in Az 🌵

Thanks Danielle for these basic care videos. Is there anyway to encourage the growth of a new spike when there is none? I have a Phalaenopsis Orchid that hasn't had a spike for a couple of years but the leaves do look fairly healthy. From watching this series it is probably in need of repotting.

Hi Danielle. Thanks, I find your vids so inspirational and informative. I'm very interested to convert to water culture and have a few questions.
I have a Phal in rescue. She has rewarded me with 6 new baby roots and 2 new leaves now as the growing season started from being rootless the last 6 months. Yay!
I love orchids but sadly I struggle to keep mine alive. I live in Northen Germany. It rains here all the time. I keep my Phals indoors in my lounge, it gets east facing light and it is mostly 50% humidity and 21 degrees throughout the year. Is it that I overwater them? Or too little air flow?
This is the reason I'm thinking to move to water culture but, want to understand if my environment fits.
The rescue seems to be recovering nicely and I just hovered her above a little bit of water in a glass...not even touching her stem in the water as she had root/ stem rot. I think her old green leaves pulled her through..they are super wrinkled and soft.
Now..do I just wait until her roots start growing into water? Should I fertilize the water and how much or not just yet? Our tap water is pretty hard..250ppm. Should I rather opt for rainwater (I do collect in a tank for the garden..but problem is we empty the tank during the winter) or bottled still water?
Then my recent addition, a scented mini Phal..think it could be an Odorion... is also battling. Post arriving she had some flower and bud blast. Her base seemed planted to deep so I decided to repot. I found 2 or 3 mushy roots and cut them. The stem and roots at the base looked blackened ( there was a seedplug too that I removed) so I treated with Hydrogenperoxide and repotted her in bark. 2w after and she still seems unhappy. Her 3 leaves are firm and upright, purple underneath and a bit sharp/ curly at the ends. More and more flowers dropped..they are firm, not dried, but wilted and the flowerspike has started to dry and change to a pink colour. Could it be too much light? Or the shock of being repotted? Or a new root issue? The bark I used for the repot seems a bit big and hard and looks dry after a day. Is he dehydrated despite the leaves? I don't want to overwater..so I'm confused what to do. Would moving her to water culture now cause further stress/shock?
Thanks, hope you can offer some advice. Also some tips on caring for mottled leave Phals and mini's would be great in terms of differences to regular Phals..if any?
    Sending orchid love, Lindi

Hi Danielle- I’m new to your site & trying to save 3 orchids using WC. I’m worried about one of them - I found a spot of white mold on the top of one root, and have clipped it off. The plant has one strong leaf but I’ve had to remove most of the root covering, since it was brown & dead looking. Would appreciate your advice. Thanks, Jeanne
