Hei nigel, I love ur videos. I've a 2007 mondeo and the infotainment system stops while im listening and I got to push the on button to turn it on, do you have any advice on how can i fix that.
I can think of two possible reasons. If the radio cuts out quickly after turning on then it is probably overheating and will need replacing. If the radio stays on for long time, up to 1 hour, then it is not receiving the ignition sense ‘ON’ signal. Check Fuse F6 in the passenger fuse box behind the glove compartment. Heya Mr Nigel, i have purchased an led strip and connectors but it doesnt seem to be lighting up, its a 12v strip, does the lamp holder send enough current ?, dont worry if you cant help, just after some knowledge Thankyou
The led strip have a + and - connection. If you have reversed the connection they won’t light. Also lock the doors and unlock as the footwell light socket is on a timer.
Great job, would like to know if there is a way to reduce the off time of the footwell light. mine stays on ten minutes after closing the car before going off. thanks.
Unfortunately not as that is part of the Ford control module programming. That said when you lock the car or start the engine the lights should go out.
@@lionng3933 that’s not right. 10 minutes is the power saving kicking in. What should happen is the lights should go out immediately you lock the doors. My only thought is to check that the interior courtesy light switch is in the centre position for door switch mode and not in the on position. If that fails then the car probably thinks there is a door open. You can test the door switches one at a time by running the engine and look for a dash warning popping up each time you open a door. The final solution to trace the fault is to diagnose the control module using an OBD2 lead and Forscan.
hey there; first of, many thanks for what you're doing !!! respect !!! now, I please need your help. My 2007 mk4 TitaniumX( QXBA engine) has an electrical issue (so, I presume). The R2 PCM relay in the engine jonction box makes a clicking noise every 15-20seconds for 10-20minutes, then it stops; engine shut off and the car fully locked. Should I be worrying or it just takes so damn long for the computers to go to sleep?! Thank you.
Thanks for watching and the comment. I don’t know the answer but it seems by searching the Internet many people have this problem and it can flatten the battery. There’s next to no information in the service manual about this relay so I can only guess the function. The relay I guess provides power to the power control module which is the ignition and the engine management. My first step would be to use my OBD2 with Forscan and scan the car for error codes. I would then use Forscan to test the PCM module. After that I would think about what devices in the car thar might cause the PCM to be turned on. Is it a keyless entry problem? Is it a cool down effect? Are the door closed sensors all working properly? Sorry I can’t be much more help.
@@NigelEaland thanks for the feedback; appreciate all the help I can get at this point. I suppose nothing's clicking in your car's jonction box whatsoever...Will look deeper into it and thank you again for what you're doing for the comunity ;)
@@silviuparascuta8793 actual when the car is unlocked there is a regular click from the engine compartment fuse box. That’s normal. When locked though I haven’t heard anything.
Well the simple answer is yes, but by adding more bulbs you will increase the current drawn significantly and I would be worried about killing the lighting control unit. I used LED strips as they draw about 8 times less current than the equivalent bulb. This meant I could use strips that produced far more light for less current than the footwell bulb. I could also parallel wire a second strip for the rear seats without worrying about killing the control unit. Thanks for watching.
Hi, I have a 08 Mondeo and want to do the same as you but just the front foot well, can you let me know where I can get the led strip lights and connecters? And what's the quick step guide to do it? Cheers 👍
See my reply to Dezwez below. Amazon and Ebay. You will need to solder or use crimp connectors to fit the T10 plugs to the LED strips. The driver side is really easy, just stick the LED strip and plug into the existing socket. The passenger side you need to manufacture a mount as I did and use velcro pads.
