I have a mate on exercise on Salisbury Plain learning about the crarrv as I type this from my warm and comfy bed. Kudos to all UK armed forces personnel for what they do for us, and the crarrv is an absolute unit!
I love the jobsworth rangewardens, We had a 513 and a 510 jackknifed in the middle of the road, and guys out stopping traffic, and the range warden come and tells me that we can’t stop the traffic! “Oh rgr, I’ll just let them crash into the two warriors then shall I?”
I was told to clear the mud off the mud track...…..took my name so I had to do it. also had a colonel in the past stop me and reported me for doing over 50 MPH in a crarrv. funny that by the army website they max out at 35 MPH (on a good pack).
My Grandad was a recovery mechanic in 131 Parachute Engineer Regiment TA he was in 131 LAD REME and based at Kingsbury he went out to Cyprus in 1963 for two weeks for annual camp Exercise New Venture and had to a recover a series 1 Land Rover that Green Jackets crashed into a riverine some of them got killed and also helped to recover a compressor that went over a cliff during Operation Westward Look which was a road building programme. My Grandad and his lot also worked on a Second World War Scammell Pioneer they were using it and it broke down they couldn’t repair it so Captain told them to leave it on a mountain.
i love comments like this that have a story to them of how my forefathers worked and the jobs they got up too :) oh god we wouldn't get away with abandoning our trucks nowadays lol
Average Joe Airsoft my grandad was full of stories unfortunately he is not around anymore he only served in 63 he did all para training and got his wings as well.
Hi just finished phase 1 training am joining as a recovery mechanic! Having just found your channel has made me so excited about what this career has to offer🤣👍🏼
Just got my medical back saying I can’t join because of previous ‘lactose intolerance’ about 5 years ago. However it was down to the stress at the time, I was placed on medication for a week or two but then stopped taking it. I now eat and drink absolutely anything (can drink pint after pint of milk, doesn’t effect me.) do I stand a good chance in appeal or not really?
Mate tbh id go on Arrse and ask there but briefly if you can get offical Clinical proof that was the case then maybe but no opinions even from a doctor
I agree. get an appointment with your GP and explain this to the doctor. ask them to run tests and if you are all clear get a written doctors note. then retry to join :)
Average Joe Airsoft so a few months later the appeal has been accepted just awaiting my assessment date ( delayed because of virus). Hoping to join as a rm
That sucks. Hope its all going well for you now. It's typical Capita and their bullshit. I've heard of people not being able to get in for a small rash on one of their hands and all sorts of rubbish.
Whats your current job role? recy mech is awesome on tour or on exercise but shite in camp. As soon as you get to class 1 its lifting equipment examinations constantly which is boring as hell.
@@jayfrancis1429 100% not vm! worst job in REME in my opinion. lots of over time and JAMES work involved. you spoken to any vm's or recy mech's at your unit yet?
@@AJoeA I have done but they didnt say much, so I just thought I'll do my own research. Not much on net about. Got till the end of april before I make any decisions. But somthing is swaying me towards recy. Got to be better then what I'm doing now.
@@jayfrancis1429 if you talk to your chain of command you might be able to work with your LAD full time for a bit as a 'look at life' and work with both trades before making the big decision...
If you become class 1 does it become completely boring and no point. Do you have any more info on this? Also what is it like to join air assault in the reme?
yep. boring as fook. lol I'm a class 1...nothing but lifting tackle inspections lol. if you want to be airborne you can volunteer to do 'p company' which means you'll do a selection process and providing you pass you will then do a a beat up fitness phase before 'p company itself. if you pass that then you'll do a parachute jumps course. if you pass that then you will get the maroon beret and then you have the choice to become a wanker or not.

I was in 19th reg as a gunner the Reme lads were always a good bunch of lads

I had a jobsworth ask why we had white light showing while doing a recovery task? Simple I don't fancy being tracked by a Chally 2
Great footage and job but unfortunately spoilt by the noise added, I would much rather listen to the sound of the engine 😊👌
This is such great footage, really gives an insight into the team spirit of our armed forces
Keep doing the great work you are doing for the country
I always like old military stuff for some reason and watching you work on them is great stuff

First job on any recovery - make sure you have the map the right way up!
Wow this was fun to see this, something a lot of us don't ever get to see at all.
Proper beast of a unit!
Excellent training exercise, also love the song from INXS which you selected for your video. Keep up the good job!

Great stuff lad, its one of the best jobs in the army when you are on exercise or tour!
More engine sound please.
Lovely stuff, the chap that wasn't happy, was he part of your regiment or a local?
SPTA safety staff...I had to clear the 'mud' off of a mud track in case a vehicle slipped on it??

Nice video like the tune.
Great video, I'm hoping to join the REME as a RM but I'm curious is the CRARRV only used by Armoured Mechanics or is it used by both?
Nice video.
Ditto Tony Stewardson .
Really interesting and well filmed, pity about the music! 👍🇬🇧
