I happened to listen to that live version of "Digging in the Dirt" by chance. On listening to the lyrics, it became a life-changing experience that triggered a decision in my life. Long story short, I was really at the bottom and end of my life, no rebound, no nothing. But the message of the song - "Stay with me I need support..." - convinced me that I had to make a decision about asking for external help. If I couldn't make it on my own, I realised I had to ask for someone else to help me, namely: finally taking an appointment with a psychologist. Huge step for me, that triggered a permanent change in my doing better as I addressed those deep issues I never had the courage to face till then. Sometimes the pain is so overwhelming that we just deny it. There is a time to address it, for me this song triggered it. Thanks Peter Gabriel for this song, and so many others as well!
I'm finishing up my first semester in a Marriage and Family Therapy Master's program. One instructor has stated over and over to us that if we are going to be therapists, we better be sure of who we are as people. To that end, we completed a genogram project. Some of us in class have had traumatic family experiences. Digging in that dirt was revealing, patterns, trans-generational traumas, triangulation, and secrets are all on display. That project proved that I still have stuff to work through with a therapist, but I am a better, far more open person after having taken this class. I am happy that you put aside Self and reached out for help. I wish you continued healing. I hope you get this. Cheers!
EVER. THIS A TESTIMONIAL OF MUSIC. EVERYTHING ITS ABSURD. HIS VOICE, AND THE BAND.. JESUS CHRIST THE BAND... INSTRUMENTALS ARE INSANE... AND THIS MUSIC IS ONE AH MAN FUCK IT THIS WHOLE SHIT IS FUCKING SUPERB NO WORDS
"Digging in the dirt, to open up the places I got hurt ..." There is no better description of the fundamental job of productive, and scary, introspection. Love, love, love, Peter Gabriel.
Peter's songs helped me get through some difficult times in my life. And he also helped me experience some wonderful things. Seeing him live is just magical!
This slaps so hard still. Many Kathche is maybe my fav drummer ever. Secret World is THE best concert video ever made and a Seminole event for live event staging. It holds up against shows 30 years later. It influenced me enormously. Shout out to Robert LePage the genius who directed this show. Canada what!
Mesopheric, the point was to make this song harder, deeper, darker, more intense than the studio/video version. The drummer certainly did his part and I personally look forward to it every time. The drummer was a reason why this is a brilliant performance.
Out-fucking-standing. I haven’t seen Secret World Live in quite sometime, but each time I see a scene from this concert I’m amazed. And... Good Gawd, what an incredible group of musicians he has backing him up!
OMFG! I saw this back In a day 1995, didnt understand it. Now as a 50 year old it Speaks To me in so many levels. Fantastic produktion by the band and PG himself as a tormented man.
Este tema de Peter Gabriel es una obra maestra , el ritmo que imprime Manu Caché a la batería Tony Levin al bajo y toda la banda con ese toque electro funk rock es genial para baila y gozar ❤❤❤.
I remember how I discovered this entire tour when it was released on video... I was at the circuit city (miniature oldskool store prior to the current Best Buy)...I was there for some reason I cannot recall and this video was playing on one of the big screen tv's to hopefully show the great quality of the picture and sell the television as an unreasonable expectation for the size and weight of a big screen tv back then as well as the customers and price .however, thankfully, they were delusional and yet oh so very brilliant of whoever chose to put this concert on cuz I pretty much got stuck in that store for the entirety of the concert right in front of the tv and nobody even interrupted me by trying to sell me the tv...maybe they tried but couldn't gety attention cuz ...this was the most awesome blessing that even now in 2021...almost 2022...I specifically searched for this video because it's one of the best live tours I've ever really gotten so many years of joy watching from time to time. I did buy the cd's and I have to say... Paula Cole's first hit song...that searching of cowboys thing...annoyed me to no end. However, she's completely amazing and a brilliant pick for this tour. She earned my respect as a singer on this...and I learned that she's pretty much underrated as a vocalist. The entire bend here is beyond a dream collectively. Drummer is...out of this secret world. Haha. And...I guess Peter is aight. 🤣 j/k. BEST SONG AND PERFORMANCE:. "Don't Give Up". Every time I listen to it...the one part about jobs...always reminds me of the Steinbeck classic"Grapes of Wrath" lol.. I DIGRESS. MY BAD. Rant and peanut gallery leaving...God bless everyone and I pray everyone who reads this knows that we are in the end times, Jesus is coming very soon. If you do not know Him or are needing to know The Truth...please, get a Bible and seek Him asap. Eternity is a very long time and I want everyone to be on the right side of it. It doesn't matter if you do not believe in Jesus being The Way as The Only Way to God and heaven nor if you deny there is a hell. The Truth doesn't change. You will meet your Maker either way .. I pray that when you do, it will be on the best day of the rest of the real beginning of your lives...rather than the most terrifying day that's also eternity...body, soul, spirit. John 3:16. ♥️♥️♥️
My ultimate dream is for Peter Gabriel and the Secret World band to reunite and do a one-off tour after Covid is over with!! Such a fantastic band and Paula Cole was Peter Gabriel's best backup singer ever!! He needed a singer with equal strength to his voice. Just stellar 🙌
I have two live recordings I always turn back to through my life- this concert with Peter Gabriel and Stings “Bring on the night” This one with Peter Gabriel I think is is best band - there’s not a single band member who isn’t a genius on he’s/her instrument🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️
Hard to believe this video (as part of Secret World Live Tour video) is about 30 years old. I remember seeing this on HBO around late 94 and went out and got the Video tape for it. The whole thing is filmed over a couple of nights in Italy in concert, and was just incredible. Paula Cole really was phenomenal in her singing, helped break her into her own career. I finally saw Peter Gabriel in 2014, my wife and I were blown away by his performance. The man is a musical genius.
This Guy is truly inspiring to me as a Guitar and string musician who appreciates total outside the normal mainstream music. Sometimes it takes years to really appreciate individuals who create with no regards for money, Fame, or power 💯👍 Peter's Salisbury hill is a timeless sort of ballad. But this song has me really listening to the details. I like it!💯
I remember watching these videos when I was younger, and being absolutely taken back by how incredible of a performance Peter Gabriel used to put on. In Your Eyes was another live performance that absolutely left me speechless.
My Dad had this Peter Gabriel concert on DVD and my sister and I used to lol so hard at this part of the concert. Now I just appreciate the raw talent. 😂
Probabilmente chi ha messo Non mi piace non lo ha visto direttamente in concerto; io ho avuto la fortuna di vedere le due date di Assago nel 93, a maggio e poi a novembre. Alien.
6:30 He changes from a baby John Motson to Benny Hill then Norman Wisdom, almost becomes Ashton Kutcher and the Hulk before tuning into George Clooney and finally Voldermort. This man truly is a genius!

This is one of the most intense live performances I've ever seen.
Agreed.

Saw on laser disk Boi
KInda spooky, wasn't it? Even he guitar solos sounded creepy. HUGE props for Gabreil's band...they can flat-out play.
one of my all-time favorite shows, Phoenix '93
Y'all, that bassline is just beautifully massive. This concert film and album are still fresh in 2023.
Saw this live 2 times in 1 week - a lifechanging experience ❤
My favorite Peter Gabriel song.
With you but it's a tough choice
Mine too.
"Digging in the dirt, to open up the places I got hurt ..." There is no better description of the fundamental job of productive, and scary, introspection. Love, love, love, Peter Gabriel.
Love the drums on this.
Peter's songs helped me get through some difficult times in my life. And he also helped me experience some wonderful things. Seeing him live is just magical!
I'm with you man. Peter and all the Genesis "family" have helped me through the darkest parts of my life.
This slaps so hard still. Many Kathche is maybe my fav drummer ever. Secret World is THE best concert video ever made and a Seminole event for live event staging. Brilliant!! Still the best concert I've ever seen in my 62 years of life!
Peter Gabriel/Paula Cole combo tour is the bomb!!
So I’m looking at the backup singers and I’m like “that silhouette looks like Paula Cole.”
I didn’t dream it was actually her!
The secret world tour in'93 - '94 imo was his best. Yes, that's the tour with Paula.
One of the coolest songs, live performances, grooves... everything. This is a masterclass on how to build atmosphere live.
This is the definitive version of this song....
Amazing forever peter Gabriel
My gosh to the people who disliked this... You have no clue. Peter Gabriel is amazing
This is one the best bands ever assembled . That’s PAULA COLE on backing vocals. She went on to wild success on her own!
Amazing Manu Katche on the drums
The Groove Machine!!!
Tony Levin is a bass monster! He reminds me of Treebeard ... the way he prowls the stage .... giant bassy power and finesse ...
energybengt As a band this is a dreamteam.
I met him once
❗️💯GENIUS💯❗️

BEST trip of my life involved this song
The very best live version of this fab song
Absolutely incredible. If I'd have seen that live it would have knocked me flat. We'll probably never see the likes of it again.
Brilliant..to this day the best concert I've ever been to.
how lucky you are to have seen this concert !
OMFG! I saw this back In a day 1995, didnt understand it. Now as a 50 year old it Speaks To me in so many levels. Fantastic produktion by the band and PG himself as a tormented man.
This is like the best thing I've ever seenXD
+touhouguyII Welcome to the world of music............... from the old school times
1963michael
Oh, I love old-school music!
Super cool!!!
I know!
the singing and bass playing and percussion after 4 20 is pretty much the best that music in a songwriting context has to offer.
Best band I have ever seen.
The genesis of Go-Pro cameras. Pardon the pun.
No reply at all.
Brilliant, intense, disturbing. Pure Gabriel.
the band is tight as hell!!! amazing musicians.
No one makes music quite like this anymore! Amazing Sir!
the chorus in this song is SO comforting OH MY GOD! ☺️
Top five best live albums, #4.
This is still trippy. Love it! So glad I've seen Peter in concerts... always left satisfied. And that Paula Cole... 3:)

Damn this is even more trippier than the actual music video
Tune is intense. Fucking wicked.
The genius that is Peter Gabriel.

something about this song touches the deepest points of my being. so lucky to have found it : )
Love the head cam for this track - genius
Yes! The way he could use to express emotion. Brilliant. So so brilliant. I have shared with my therapist.
If there was actually a way to make this song more intense, he did it. Well done.
I have two live recordings I always turn back to through my life- this concert with Peter Gabriel and Stings “Bring on the night”
This one with Peter Gabriel I think is is best band - there’s not a single band member who isn’t a genius on he’s/her instrument🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️❤️❤️
Love the camera trick Peter was a pure genius
Its about...the woman❤
Brilliant. Best performance by an artist.
I love how Peter Gabriel takes it beyond the music with the visuals. Very experimental but also he knows what he's doing.
What a song! What a show!! Sounds and looks superfresh even 23 years later!! Fantastic! :-D
Love the bass on this track. Trippel awesome :-D
W O W .... !!! That was the coolest freakin' video and performance I've ever seen him do. a true masterpiece.... BRAVO Peter....BRAVO !!!!!
Find the places I got hurt : ) no one else is like him. Let's keep it that way
Yeah!! Kick ass bass!! That's what I'm talking about!

The man rocks and he understands man and music, he shocks, he intrigues...
Happy Easter of love for Renaissance spirit, this gorgeous track Is the best point for a start, sing along everybody & enjoy the magic 🎉❤🎉
Still one of the best concert I've ever seen
We got hurt?...❤
There is a drum machine loop as a backing track, but even that was live to that specific performance.

Peter, always the innovater! Lol
Manu!! Manu!! Manu !!!! Quel talent❣❣❣
Siempre Peter, un Músico sin etiquetas y un gran amante de lo amplio que es el arte. siempre Peter. desde 1974.
The word 'genius' keeps popping up. I'd tend to go along with that. 🔥
I remember watching these videos when I was younger, and being absolutely taken back by how incredible of a performance Peter Gabriel used to put on. In Your Eyes was another live performance that absolutely left me speechless.
Love the drummer. I have the DVD. He certainly adds to the energy and great technique.
My Dad had this Peter Gabriel concert on DVD and my sister and I used to lol so hard at this part of the concert.
Now I just appreciate the raw talent. 😂
Simply fantastic!
Probabilmente chi ha messo Non mi piace non lo ha visto direttamente in concerto; io ho avuto la fortuna di vedere le due date di Assago nel 93, a maggio e poi a novembre. Alien.
I watched this live in the Dortmunder Westfalenhalle. Ich war 14 oder 15.
This is right up there with the 1984 Queen at Wimbly stadium performance.
tellement...ouffff, superbe en tout, on s'y perd...
LOVE YOU PETER! I will help you anyday.
To me, Secret World Live seems like the belated sequel of the Lamb Tour.
Sweeeeeeeeet. Awesome performance by the whole band, brilliant song.
This song means so much to me. I truly love it.
This grooves so hard.
Man, what a song...and how they delivered it.
So brilliant! What a great live act!
The more I look, the more I find. Yes indeed.
6:30 He changes from a baby John Motson to Benny Hill then Norman Wisdom, almost becomes Ashton Kutcher and the Hulk before tuning into George Clooney and finally Voldermort. This man truly is a genius!
Precisliy! Genius! And the music talks about our dirty human nature sometimes (not all of it)! "Digging in the dirt"
PG The Zen Master! Happy Birthday!
She's singing an octave above Peter Gabriel. Impressive.
Space Age Timeless..............
I think when you use the best sound equipment, they can make it sound this clear.
One of the best musicians!
His best concerts are always in Italy.
he is clearly a genius
one of his best and that's saying a lot as he sets the bar very high
6:20 to the end: It´s a bass master piece !!!!!
Stunning still!
🙏🙏🙏
grande , grande el mejor.
This time you’ve gone too far...this time you’ve gone too far!”
I think the live version is more groovy then the studio version
Early selfie pioneer? :P
more like he invented the gopro
quelle chanson +clip chef d'ooeuvre!
