Edward truly inspired me to live my life with more curiosity and joy! An amazing writer and speaker who brings you along to his many travels with sight, sound, and taste. My plan is to read EVERYTHING he has ever written and am currently enjoying "Under the Protection of the Cow Demon", a series of travel essays that will take you around the world! Thank you, Edward.
I cried listening to this talk particularly when he spoke of all the "shoulds" we constantly tell ourselves. What a free thinker-I'm so glad that he died having discovered how to live! I'm glad he had the energy to share his secret with such humor and gentleness.
Favorite quote of this talk: 'Live to be alive' He explains the most important message of live very well. He also shows very clearly how it is to be dying. This is a very strong man with sense of humor.
Beautifully narrated. Everyone knows it's cliche but it is very much true and I don't know how many times people need to be told this "Live in the moment" but this guy really explained it intricately and gracefully with an added sense of humor.
Good talk and glad someone else said it. I'm so tired of hearing the term and everyone adding more and more to theirs because "someone else did it and it was fun". People need to think for themselves and learn to live on their own. Find a passion and stop doing what everyone else does, do it because *you* want to.
What beautiful words. Travel is my passion too, and the stories told here are exactly why I love it so much. Very sad to see that he is no longer with us, but it seems that he made the very best of his life and with gratitude. Keep travelling!😊
What a gifted, humorous, soulful story-teller ..thank you for vividly sharing your global life-lived experiences in a TedTalk ..truly inspirational 🌺🌏🧡
To live, to breathe, to be in this moment. Thank you Edward for being a moment in my life that will carry on through all the rest of my moments. Mahalo mahalo mahalo❤️❤️❤️
To find a way to be the person I once was....been at it for about 11 years now..and it becomes more difficult every year as those bits and pieces disappear after falling off.
Thaaaat hurts... just typed a long thing out about how strongly I relate to a part he mentioned around 11:25. Then it crashed and I lost it and don't feel like retyping all of it. Fuck. Ah well. Basically I said I had a point where everything in my life was too.... picture 20 songs, each from a different genre, all playing at the same, full volume, at the same time. That's what my mind felt like sometimes. So I went to the woods and found quiet.
I think doing bucket lists is really useful, they help you understand that you really want to do in your life, but peoples don't should to think bucket list is the most important list of doing in their life because Majority of actions from bucket list is fully abstract. Therefore majority of peoples can't doing this actions in all life.
Incorrect! A bucket list isn't strictly heading from one activity to another, it's a simplified guideline for heading somewhere new and while ticking off the destination/activity you wrote down, you inevitable encounter different cultures and amazing experiences, such as the one he talked about with the town outside Venice... it wouldn't have happened had it not been for his bucket list! That's the point of it! Mine has made my life so much better and now I'm able to take in the things he was talking about! But he was a great speaker I liked listening to him either way!
I would have loved to had him reading every article he ever wrote...but then again when i read his travelogues i hear his voice. He is so captivating etc. Not because he is acting but is living.
Have you ever had the doors on your elevator suddenly held back by an Indonesian cougar wanting to know which floor you were on? Or had a Chinese lady accost you at a mall bookstore with her friend translating that she wanted you to be her boyfriend? Ha!
Edward passed away this past week. He was my neighbor, my friend and an inspiration to so many. Thank you Edward.

wow...
His opening line was so funny 😂 he should be an actor

So, the whole point is that throw out the bucketlist, right? So, what abt ambitions/dreams..Don't they matter?
So you missed the whole point? Do things all the time enjoy life, don't turn it into a checklist.
@@stevewalston7089 Oh!!! Thank you for explaining 🎀❤
What did he die from?
wow
Does anyone get a Niles Crain vibe from this man or is it just me?
This guy's sarcasm is like how a typical-sarcastic-millenial speaks.
Что такое бакет лист
Nah.
It was good but I think he made too many jokes where at times you couldn't tell when he was joking and when he was serious
