Lol.... "i can play Van Halen bedder dan uuuu". What a dufus. As the great Victor Wooten responded to a troll once, "He says from home". Buk, you're one of the best guitar players on the planet. Anyone that knows anything hears the absolute lifetime commitment you've made to music, not just guitar but music as a whole. Thanks for putting out these snippets of your life. Not only will your boys look at them for years to come, but there's so much wisdom in all of these.
@@markr.k8260it took me all video to get your comment 😂, I read comments as I listen, I read yours and was like WTF is this about? Now I get it, yes Vic and the two children died from a helo accident, and they had huge court case, and children's work laws violations, and scandal from it
“Maybe I should talk to a therapist about that…. Or maybe not…. Maybe not.. maybe it’s cool “. The smile after that statement was absolutely priceless!
"Put the cell phone down, sit your ass there with a nice cold beer, and try to make a memory of watching it and look at the people you're with and share it with them." 100%! That perfectly sums up one of my favorite (and most powerful) memories. I was watching Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds perform The Ship Song at the LA Forum; incredible musicians playing a haunting melody in a beautifully lit venue. A beer in one hand, my other arm wrapped around my wife's shoulders, and memories of my recently passed mother floating through my head. An amazing moment, and I wouldn't trade it for anything, despite it making me tear up every time I remember it.
Tom, from one dad to another, I know you're proud of your boy. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a tear shed when he rips it up on that stage. He gets it honest!
While you were playing that great song Mind Games for the class, my dad took me to see Paul McCartney perform with his band at the O2. He's still got it - he played for 3 hours non stop hits and masterpieces. There were only a few songs I didn't know, but they were also beautiful. It was strange watching him sing "John songs" like Mr Kite, or "George songs" but they were beautiful tributes to lost friends. They even did a bit of Foxy Lady and told a personal Jimi story. There aren't too many guys like that around...
Happy Birthday Tom, have a great day. Enjoy your great sons and every minute you guys are together. The best channel you teach us all. Gods Blessings to you guys.
Have a great birthday tomorrow, Tom. It's very special that Marshall will be sharing it with you. I'm sure you'll both remember it for the rest of your lives. No self respecting Home Skooler would go against your wishes. 115K strong protect their privacy. Appreciate you brother.
Nothing better than an uncle Larry video during morning breakfast. Tom you are a real inspiration thank you so much for continuing putting time into the channel!
Happy Birthday Little Tommy from Cleveland! What a show tonight, Jack is awesome. Good luck to Marshall, he'll kill it I'm sure. The original Twilight Zone New Years marathon is coming up, can't wait. Every episode in order. Brings back good memories of me and my dad watching the "Toilet Zone" on our little b&w tv.
Tom, Thank you for the beautiful music and the guitar lesson!! I am going to segue-way here a minute. I think it is sad that there are these dolts out in internet land that have never done anywhere near what you have creatively and have the audacity to critique you of all people. How many records have these bozo's played on, probably zero. Wish I lived closer so that I could see you, Jedd, and Gutherie Trapp kicks some musical ass! Have a fantastic day and I hope you had a blast on your Birthday! Thanks Uncle!
Happy Birthday Tom, thought I heard you mention it was your birthday on Dec 20 in a video of yours I was just watching. Anyway, hope you have a good day and show tonight (you also mentioned the show).
1) You're a good Dad! 2) Used to pride myself on NEVER playing a song exactly like the record BECAUSE listeners will be spending more time comparing you to original than listening to the song with FRESH EARS! BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE LAR! You've done a whole lot for us folks out here this year so Thanks a lot.
Wishing you a great gig and birthday tomorrow night..especially with your son, Marshall..that's very emotional...he'll always remember your special night together..❤
Best Birthday Wishes Tom, what a gift you are to many. We appreciate you and super happy that you were born. One in a million talent and good dude. Have a great birthday show; that sounds super rad.!
For many of us, our first gig is like our first love, It's unforgettable! But that feeling of being out on stage, It's one of the most beautiful things a person can feel All the best to Marshall I know he'll have a blast!
Hey Tom, There isn't anything better than hearing you pick an acoustic!! There is no hiding behind a pedal board or amp. it's just flat out the tone in your hands what a gift. Have a great time on Friday!!
Hey Tom, I would be there tonight if I could. I was at the last birthday gig and it was indeed a special evening. Have a very happy birthday and have a blast with Marshall. What a cool experience for his first gig! Cheers
You know the feeling when you have nothing and no one to share it with but playing an album it’s like it becomes your friend. I reckon that’s what we are experiencing here with the skoolin program. Random thoughts from a random man. One love
Your point about people trying to sound exactly note for note...so true.. Tom, I love rearrangements of a song....one of my most recent favorites is Joni Mitchell's 'For Free'. David Crosby put his arrangement of this amazing song on his last record... the year before he died.. just beautiful beyond words.
Hey, Tom. Appreciate and agree concerning the sentiments - being at a live gig. But when you live 90000 miles from Nashville 🇦🇺 the uploads are priceless ; keeps me happy! Merry Christmas to you and all the Homeskoolers and happy birthday from the Gold Coast.
Thank you for all you have taught us. My playing has improved more watching you and GT vids than paying a fortune to a local guitar teacher. For real.😊
I hope I don't wind up on the special "fuck off" list, but I have an appreciation for the video capture of musical performances. I will never see Jethro Tull live and I know it doesn't adequately capture the sound of the being in the room, but even it still affected me. I'm very happy that someone took the video and thought to upload it. It means so much to so many, even if it's not the same. Peace Tom
When Bowie the Cat wakes me in the wee hours for attention and a snack, an Uncle Larry video is ample compensation for sleep deprivation. This one instantly reminds me of traditional folk songs about being transported to the penal colony of New South Wales via Botany Bay.
Tom, I just want to wish you a happy birthday. I wish I could make the show Friday. I have traveled from Rochester, NY to Nashville to see you play and do some equipment buying and selling in 2024. I hope to catch you sometime in the next few months when I return. I'm sure the show will go great and Marshall will slay! Best wishes, Jay
I unfortunately can't play anything the same way twice, I always appreciate a great player, like you, putting their personal touch on great piece of guitar history.
Tom, I aspire to someday have some miniscule measure of your touch, tone and irrepressible musicality. I feel like I learn something with every video, and I appreciate you sharing your gifts with all of us.
I love how little you take yourself serious. There are few players who I respect as much as you. I’ve played for almost 30 years and I’ve learned more in the last 6 months watching you than I have the last 20 years. God bless you and your family this holiday season. We appreciate you, Uncle Larry!
I know tomorrow is your birthday and not sure if you’ll post again so Happy Birthday my fellow Sagittarius. Your the pride of North and Willowick. A great inspiration. Love ya bro. A fellow Ranger Randy
I absolutely LOVED that Twilight Zone movie as a kid. Still do. Was my all time favorite movie and always loved and associate Midnight Special with it. Cannot hear the song without thinking of that movie, just perfect. And then there's John Lithgow w the airplane monster. So good. Cheers Unc!
Man, you say it like that but you really built a community of friends. Thanks for posting so often, I really enjoy listening to the playing and the talking.
I love watching artists reinterpret music or melodies. We all just here having fun. And you should too. It doesn't have to be perfect, it's not what this is about.
Thank you for cutting through all the B.S. out there!!!! I agree with EVERYTHING you share in your videos - it’s like you can read my mind!!!!! Keep up the stellar work!!
Glad you got that off your chest. I'll say it these dudes couldn't hold your god damn pick let alone step up. Keep trucking and telling it like it is . Looking forward to the next Uncle Larry Christmas Jam happy holidays!!!
Hey man, don’t you love that anticipation of the next time you get to pick up your guitar after watching somebody else cool play? You always do that for me. Thank you and happy holidays to you and the fam.
Hey Happy Birthday. Have a great gig Friday. That acoustic does sound really good. I always tell ‘em to “F*ck off! It’s my interpretation.” Although … I’d be hard pressed to learn something note-for-note because … well … I’m not that good. Much love from NC.
Watching you and Jedd iPhoned by some guy in the front row last night. You just said you hated everything on the internet, but truthfully, I and so many of us are glad for the view. It's as close as we're ever going to get.

Real tasty guitar as usual. Wishing Uncle Larry a happy birthday tomorrow and all the best over the holiday for you and your sons. Look forward each day for a new Homeskoolin'. Thank you.
Happy Birthday Uncle Larry! Health reasons prevent me from being there to enjoy the music the way it should be as you explained. I hope you and everyone who can be there has a wonderful time. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, your boys, and all the Homeskoolers! 🙏
Happy early birthday greetings from the Northland. All the best for an amazing day/night. Many thanks for the many hours of entertainment and lessons this year. You are an inspiration. It’s amazing how much I enjoy listening to music in a different way since the Homeskoolin journey began.
Buk, I saw Hendrix in 1968 at 14 years of age. He has been my "Hero" to this day. I started playing guitar at the same age and I made a promise to myself that I would never attempt to play any of his leads. There is only one Jimi and although in my head I know his leads from listening to them for my entire life I just won't try to play them. Too much respect for the man. As a Lead Vocalist I will sing his songs all day and have in bands since I was 14. I did my Homework on his vocals.
Wonderful playing again. You seem really calm to call out BS. I wish I had your calm temperament. I used to terrorize my friends by taking a bunch of pictures of us. Wow. Talk about father son thing that'll happen that night on stage. Amazing. Stay in that moment Tom
