In this episode of 3D Printed Star Wars I print and paint a Jedi Luke lightsaber from Return of the Jedi. Here is the model I used: www.thingiverse.com/thing:321812
Instead of masking sections with tape - try silly putty. Much easier to work with. A friend of mine does custom paint jobs on sideshow collectibles pieces and he masks off any intricate parts with putty before painting. It is very easy to remove after.
Looks great but you can design your lightsaber on this website called saberparts and press the first link and you can design your lightsaber and 3D print it
+Elijah Gillespie Aside from the obvious (Jabba), I would probably choose something like Vader just because he's so iconic looking. But in terms of my body type, I'm closer to the Rancor Keeper... Speaking of which, have you guys seen Tested's Rancor costume? Here: ua-cam.com/video/05XBEM91Whg/v-deo.html
Rancor keeper will be absolutely badass. I've the same problem too! A friend of mine is going to be married dressed up as a Jedi soon, and i just can't see myself in those robes. I want to be an Hutt! Maybe one of the stylish one like Ziro, with all the tatoo. =D
+Ellis Griffiths studios It costs around $1,000, although there are cheaper ones (and much more expensive ones as well). I think in a few years they will be cheaper and easier to use.
Hard to say exactly. The parts all fit on the print bed at once, so I just started it printing at night and it was done by morning. I can't recall exactly how long it took. The painting wasn't really all that involved compared to what I often do with models, but I did have to wait for layers to dry and so forth. The sanding was the most work in a way, especially since I'm not very accustomed to doing it.
4 years later.... yeah, that came out nice. Looks nice and battle warn.

Interesting idea! That never would have occurred to me.
Mighty Jabba's Collection I have to try this!
You mean rafael robledo?
TechnoCraft yeah amazing guy super talented
I want one. That looks awesome.
Looking great!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
It's my favourite lightsaber!!!!
Now use green sand to cast it as a metal!
Rub-n-buff would be perfect for the raised metallic area
lego star wars jabbas palace is a good start to a collection

Nice!
You could make it with a little hole inside to put a blade
it looks better than the POTF2 toy lightsaber
Aswome!
I'm going to try using a silver sharpie on the ridges part
Star Lord if you take a rag and some chrome/silver model paint, you can put some paint on the rag and just brush it along the edge
Thank you!
hi, can you tell us which colors you are using? How you colored that prop? Thanks
I basically just used silver, black and gold paint.
oh gosh. I'm so doing this
It was suppose to be blue but they realized it be to hard to see with desert sky being blue so they decided to change it green so it's easier to see.
Love this build, just printed my own. What type of glue did you use? I’m just nervous that CA glue won’t hold up to drops over time
It’s been a long time so honestly I don’t remember. But superglue is pretty strong. You can go with epoxy if you really want extra strength
How long did it take?
@@axlerod494 the print was about 9 hours, assembly didn’t take long at all. Painting is definitely the hardest part to get right
Hey; use DupliColor Metallic Chrome. That’s the one you want.
If you had a real good costume, like 501st kinda stuff. what would it be? I am making a tusken raider myself.
I'd go with Dengar.

+Mighty Jabba's Collection yes and its amazing. I wonder how hard it would be to make a more user frendly one of making it.

How much was your 3D printer? They look awesome!

Mighty Jabba's Collection I am looking to get my first 3D printer. I was wondering which model you have and which one you would upgrade to eventually?
@@MightyJabbasCollection i printed it with Ender 3 ( 200$ or less like 150$) and it looks the same and bit better
How much time did you spend for the full product? Printing, priming and painting?

Well it looks really cool!
On thingiverse is a better version you can screw together
Just got some more unboxing videos in so u can check them Star Wars unboxings at my channel
is it possible to add the blade itself?
martin stier It's possible, but in that case you would need to alter the design of the hilt since there isn't anything for a blade to attach to
do it like the movie and just get a thin pole.
What I'm going to do is buy a thick, long wooden stick and spraypaint it, then add layers of glue-gun glue and then test dueling with it.
why cant u do something like 3d salashious crumb (I probably didn't spell it right) or oola or something?
The holes are to tight :s
How long dose it take
How long does what take?
I love Luke Skywalker
Designing mine to be near 100% accurate to the Last Jedi version of Luke’s
Is it loose?
+Nimstah Gaming Is what loose?
Mighty Jabba's Collection The lightsaber when it is done
No, it's quite tight actually.
Mighty Jabba's Collection thx so much
