I agree that her grunting is way too much, but honestly I cheered for both of them, because 1. I'm a dane 2. I saw Sabalenkas other matches (which all where in 3 sets!), and saw how much she was fighting (well she was doing best when she thought she was gonna lose and almost gave up lol)

She looks to be a really great hard hitter i don't think her forehand is more huge than madison's but her game looks more tidy and tough other wise she is exactly like ostapenko i'm rooting for her to be the new sharapova and mark my words she will do a great surprise in wimbeldon although woman tennis is umpredictable

I could easily root for sexy Sabalenka if she didn't scream like she does. To me, it's a distraction tactic. A hindrance. A short, strong "Huh!" would be just as effective for energizing the swing. Sharapova once admitted on TV that if she were silent she'd probably play just as well. So, essentially, it's a form of cheating to wail and scream after hitting a shot.

Once a grunter always a grunter. It helps you control the ball and is exacerbated by stress. So the tighter a point is the more likely it'll happen.
No - watch most of them, when they're really pushed they're quieter. Muguruza is a great example. She plays better when she doesn't shriek and moan. It's a bad habit like any other, and it's unfair to other players as well as being painful to watch.

Once you learn it as a kid, it is hard to change. it is to help with breathing too, something that she might have struggled when she was young.

I hope Sabalenka can finally go deep at a GS at Wimbledon but she always gets the most difficult 1R matches at Slams... I mean: Barty in front of her home crowd at the AO then Bertens who is surely a Top 10 player on clay at the FO and now Buzarnescu who played a fantastic grass court season just as Sabalenka too. She is very near to get seeded at the US Open tho.

Yeah, she grunts so loud - though not as horrible as some of the earlier matches in this tournament. Maybe put that energy into shots and concentration?

RayDagge, as it turns out, their hitting power comes from their muscles and technique. Aside from it being obvious, look at Osaka if you have doubts. I have nothing against occasional, normal volume grunting. I can't stand the players like Sharapova who shriek late to disguise the volume or who overdo the volume. Watch Sabalenka in the semifinals - totally over the top. It diminishes the game. I feel the same way about the men who overdo it.

Nathan Lifska live by the sword, die by the sword style. That is what happens when you try to hit winners every shot. You will hit alot winners but also alot of unforced errors.
