    Hello Marc. What a beautiful place to fly. I'm Frank from Kilkenny in Ireland. Our weather for flying the past few years is so bad. I have 15 years flying but would like to do a guided xc of 50 km or more. Perhaps 100 km. I have a rush 6 which is amazing to thermal on. I am still learning after all these years and would love a guided xc so I can relax and enjoy it, instead of being stressed out in mental rough thermals. Your video and instruction was brilliant. So calm and relaxed. Well done you. Best of luck to all your students. Where do you mainly guide from. Thanks Frank

      It works well also when on glide to feel the air a tad sooner and your reactions will make a difference sooner to the glider.

    Nice, very good you strongly mentioned etiquette, sometimes on smaller hill, where there is litttle bit crowdy, it is big problem, everybody want to be established and some people have problem with correctly joining others in thermal.
    About this finger wrap, isnt't it hurting on the finger? I do hand wrap when circling in very weak thermal in flats, so it is not so tiriring, but doing it over one finger seems to me like too much pressure n the finger.

    Hey Marc , it’s interesting to note being a retired Hang 4 hang glider pilot , and watching this video. Everything you’re saying is what my brain is saying because I’ve been there in my hang glider many times !
    Thanx for this video it’s great to fly with you and I hope at 74 years old I can put some more flying together in a para glider ! It looks like if you keep your flying in mild conditions you shouldn’t have to worry about a collapse of your para glider ? Thanx again for your great narration on your videos !

    I would like to add this is for lite / gentle thermals NOT strong stuff, In stronger climbs you will be cranked in much harder and that's a different ballgame, I have just deleted my first post by @dymanoid swearing and being rather nasty, I will not put up with any of that and I will block and delete straight away, I do all this free of charge and in fact at my cost so do not expect being talked to like that, I will also add I do not say I am the best and my way is the only way, there are many much better pilots than me, hope the rest of you enjoy the coming videos. love Marc.

    Thanks for the vid Mark. Can you explain more about the "one finger wrap"? How does extra brake help prevent collapses?

    • @leavesleyaviation
      @leavesleyaviation  4 місяці тому +2

      Yes buddy, without any brake if you look up at your brake lines you will see they bow out, this means there is quite a lot of slack before your pulling does anything, in taking a 1 finger wrap this takes out the bow / slack so your flying in bumpy air with a slightly positive angle of attack, ie more pressure on the undersurface of the canopy ie a more solid place to be in, hope that makes sense .

      Great tips (especially the slight break when back wind in the thermal), but I don't see the difference between 1 finger wrap (doesn't it cut the blood from your fingertip btw?) and 1cm more break. Could you elaborate?
      And thanks again for all your videos!

      @@JeanMichelBruel It does circulation after a while to be fair in rough air😂 but it feels so much more in contact with the canopy.

    Really nice vid.
    One comment though: that landing area is for SIV participants only, and anyone doing one of these, or reading the signs knows you are not allowed to fly over the 'reserve naturelle'
    It takes everyone's responsibility, locals, visitors, to follow the rules by the letter in overcrowded places like Annecy.
