I bought one last summer and I LOVE it! Great little saw! It does leak some oil though. Laying it with the chain cover UP is a good idea. Adding an O-Ring to the oil cap doesn't work as some people suggest.
Just bought one yesterday and cut a bunch of branches and limbs down it works awesome, light and portable, wife even enjoyed using it, cutting through 6-9” branches with ease
i love mine, it goes thru batteries but i love the quietness of the brushless electric motor. i keep 2 or 3 batteries on hand to swap out and I can go to work.
I had bought the 40 volt 16 inch Greenworks Chainsaw just recently it works really good I had wanted a bigger saw because I had to cut up some regular size trees I use to have a few gas chainsaws in the past but to be honest with you I like the battery powered chainsaws a lot better I always hated having to mess with fuel and trying to start them after using battery powered chainsaws I never want to go back to gas chainsaws.
I agree!!! I am never going back to gas, chainsaws, weed eaters, or blowers. I spent so much of my life and my back pulling those starters, never again!!!! I can't wait till I get a battery powered riding mower!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I FINALLY got the answer as to what batteries will run the saw. I have tons of Dewalt 20v tools and wondered if my batteries would work. Thank you.
I had this, couldn't wait to get rid of it. To small to be of good use for me 12" is really more like 10.5" and it leaked oil no matter what. I got the new dewalt 18" flexvolt and am much happier with it.
THIS SAW WAS COOL FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS...dead now motor is burnt out, havent even finished paying for it, warranty not valid in Canada so that's awesome. it chugs and leaks bar oil like a mean drunk . guys at work gave me a hard time for using Ryobi tools..but my ryobi sawzall (3 years old) with a 12" blade has outlasted and out worked the Dewalt chainsaw , yes it cuts slower but it still works, Dewalt has really let me down. i'm sticking with Ryobi.
UPDATE...I purchased the DCCS620 TYPE 2 made in 2020 a couple of years ago and used it in Houston summer , sometimes ambient air temps are over 100 degrees. Once it shut down, likely THERMAL protection, but started running OK after a cool-down period. I use the 5 AH batteries like the rest of my DeWalt tools. This month, October 2023, I was using it again and after several tree cuts, it stopped mid use. I let it cool, switched batteries , but it would not start. I read up about some faulty chain break safety switches and main switch issues, so I took my saw apart. After checking both switches and most wiring with a VOM, both were still OK but the issue seems to be a faulty circuit module. The module is NOT REMOVABLE... it has been sealed with plastic type encapsulant . I checked a couple of repair parts sources as well as contact DeWalt. The 2020 TYPE2 saw motor / wiring /module is only sold as ONE UNIT which is over $100. I decided to bite the bullet and buy the new model TYPE3 made in 2022 in hopes that DeWalt has improved their manufacturing. Overall the saw is very handy so I hope that it lasts much longer than the 2020 model. I welcome all replies if others have had similar issues.
Got the same one last year. Works ok but leaks oil really bad, making a big mess on the garage floor. Not leaking from the cap, but somewhere at the bottom of the case.
This must me a premium version of my 20V Black and Decker 10in chainsaw. The internals, especially the chain tension adjustment, seem very similar. It seems the performance is on par with my Black and Decker one when I paired it with DeWalt battery with an adapter!
Mine lasted 3 years of moderate use, started shutting off mid cut and now it's toast. Pretty disappointed for 250 bucks. Gonna try an Ego next I think, less money for a 16" 56V saw. Hopefully will last longer.
Just bought one of these. No leak when not being used. Just when I am using it, it leaks oil from the saw side when being used.is this normal? Is it suppose to just spray oil on the blade? Reply
U can use any 20v battery for it the more ah u have of course the longer run time u will have but with bigger battery heavier it will be I have the flexvolt version of this and I have a 12 ah battery thinking about getting 15ah but very costly
It's ok for small stuff on cool days, but if its hot outside or it's big or lots of it grab your gas powered old reliable chainsaw and get busy. There is just no way around hard work! Embrace it, love it, be satisfied and you will be happy grasshopper.
These saws leak oil like crazy. I left my saw with a half a tank full of oil and all of oil had leaked out all over the garage when I next used it 2 weeks later. A huge mess. When I check on line this is a common problem. You call Dewalt and they say to empty the saw of oil after each use. This is ridiculous. I have never had to do this with any other chain saw I have had. Their other solution was to send out another O-ring to install but this does not work either. I think its just something for them to tell you which they already know will not work. But they hope will make you get off their back regarding this design flaw and quit hassling them. I wish I had never bought this saw.
Hello excellent video, but I have a question. I have 12 DEWALT tools that I bought with DCB606 batteries, now I want to buy this chainsaw to cut small trees in my yard, but according to home depot they say that I cannot use the batteries that I have because it will burn the motor, as it suggests that these are Models DCB205, DCB205G, DCB205CK or DCB205-2 What do you recommend in this regard, it is true that it would burn the motor or if I can use my batteries. Thank you
That is the exact battery that I use in mine and it works great. I Love this chainsaw. it does leak oil out the chain so put a rag down or turn it sideway, they might be thinking of the bigger chainsaw that takes the Flex Volt battery, Not sure why they would say that.
@@justadadtips Hello, do you mean that I can safely use this DEWALT 20V MAX XR Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless 12-inch Chainsaw dccs620 tool with a 6.0 ah flexvolt battery model dcb606
Just don't use 60v batteries in a old model 20v dewalt tool that isn't brushless. My 20v impact shoots sparks when I accidently forget that from time to time.

Great tip!
The oil leak is between the clear oil tank and the black filler neck, not between the filler neck and cap. There's a video on how to fix this.
@@brianrvd Would you like to provide a link to that video please?

I use cheap Pure Crisco Canola Oil food-grade oil. It's better.
How long does 1 battery last?
Depends on size of battery. but my 5 amphour lasted about an hour of on and off again cutting.
My batteries have lasted years. Key thing is to recharge them.
20 anos.
A lot of complaints about these leaking bar chain oil. No, it's not the "o" ring.
it does
Good review
Glad you enjoyed it
Mine broke after one season of moderate use. Dewalt promptly shipped me a new one.
However, the chain saw oil leakage is significant. So beware.
Mine broke the first day
I won a brand new saw just like this at a Dewalt show at one of my vendors a while back. I put a battery in it but the thing doesn’t work.
Meh.
