Move an RV onto the farm & live it while you do the mold removal. We homeschooled & lived in one for years. At present, we are living in one again because of mold. It made me very sick. I love our 390 sq feet of safe place. God bless.🙏🙏🙏
Honestly i was JUST having the same conversation w my husband. Our farmhouse is old and had bad remodeling which left our exterior walls full of holes that allowed moisture to come in between walls. 10 yrs later IM READY FOR A REMODEL MY HOME IS DAMAGED! Renting is costly as are repairs, but im seriously on the look out for a pull-along trailer or an RV.
When you talk about the bathroom it reminds me of a mold problem I once dealt with. make sure the bathroom fan isnt venting steam into the attick. Make sure it is actually venting to the outdoors. You wouldnt believe how many people take that short cut and end up with mold in the attick
Check all the roof soffits for open venting - one of the times our home was reroofed a not-so-expert vendor painted all the soffits (including air holes) shut. Only careful inspection spotted the flaw - had to replace with new functioning "breathable" soffits -- little known fact, most moisture in your home comes not from intrusion from the outside but collects from perspiration and expiration and other life activities (think of all the moisture from the *maple syrup* you boiled down last year...? ) of the humans living inside.
So sorry to hear that you are facing this challenge. We lived in a house with black mold years ago and are still healing from health issues that started during that time. But He is faithful to heal and to guide through anything. We pray that the Father gives you wisdom and peace as you do whatever you need to do for the health of your family. Love and blessings from the Smyth family.
I will be praying for you all. We also have a mold problem since the June flooding here in Missouri. Unfortunately, we have nowhere else to go and the husband is suffering, again, with his PTSD, so I get no answers or discussions of what we're doing about anything. I'm so happy you two can sit and speak calmly about what to do and how to do it. I am envious. Many blessings and prayers for you all from NE Missouri!
Oh friend! That is truly hard. We speak calmly but I have my moments of total overwhelming feelings. Have you gotten any estimates etc...? Just finding out what needs doing may be calming to your heart?
@@Brifromscratch Yes honey, the adjuster pretty much totaled the house, so after we pay off the mortgage on it, maybe then he will be able to think of what it is we should do. I would love to be out in the country again, but I'm not sure that is going to happen. Everything is just so overwhelming to me now and I can't discuss with the husband or he overloads. So, I rely on God to make His plans come into fruition....some days that is extremely difficult. But if Jesus could go to the cross for me, I can weather this storm for Him. Blessings dear one!
I had bad asthma as a child and our house had mould... my grandmother brought a dehumidifier with a filter attached to it.. it was amazing the difference take away the moisture it slows the mould down
I like your channel just the way it is. I honestly don't think it has to be about one thing or another. The topic of Life is a real one, and seeing your family makes me feel better, blesses me, makes me realize I'm not the only one who struggles, etc. Will be praying for all of you as you go through this next part of Life.
I understand what you're saying and I don't take it as complaining at all its just life and it gets frustrating and you need to vent.. that's what I love about your channel it's about real life the ups and the downs
Thank you for your channel and being up front and honest. I subscribe to about 50 other homesteading channels and your channel is my #1. Both of your personalities make your vlog special. I have always liked that your story is about everyday life on a homestead farm giving information on animals, gardening, recipes, preserving food and everyday living inside and outside the home. Your homesteading journey shows us the ups & downs, and the good & bad of daily life. Your story shows us that everything is not always rosy and it is often hard work. Your love for your land is awesome! I understand the pressure you are feeling toward upcoming schooling starting up. I’ve been there and done that. And I can tell you that every year it get simple-er and simple-er and the stress lessens each year. At this time minimizing publishing your vlogs sounds like something you need to do. I am curious to learn about mold removal. Have a similar problem- Thanks for being #1!!!!!😀 ~ Mark & Tammy
Noo that is sad and hard for you! What if you would rent a camping trailer and park it on the yard and the good thing is that it's still summer and like that you are close to still work on your farm! Just an Idea thinking what I would do!! I Love you guys!! Wish you all the blessings!
Your observations are valuable. Seeing such a difference in your childs respiratory issues from being at home versus out and away from your home environment is a pretty good indicator that whatever is triggering your little ones breathing issues is present in your home. I know you will reach the best decision for your family. Someone I love very much is allergic to virtually everything but pine trees! The asthma is just another annoying issue he battles with. I hope you will have peace of mind. Many prayers for the best resolution possible.
Hey guys...I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. Unfortunately its becoming more and more prevalent in our area of the country. I work for a company that performs mold remediations for people in situations just like this all of the time. You are a little too far away for us to come help you, but I would be happy to discuss a plan of action and help walk you through the process on getting rid of this problem if you have any questions. God bless and good luck with this journey!
Jason, Cheryl, I think we should do a gofundme for them to hire a service like that. I was thinking about *starting* at $5K then doing it again as needed. Do you guys think that's a good starting point or should it be higher?
Jason Hayes DO U HAVE A UA-cam CHANNEL! Ur knowledge and experience are a true treasure! Were considering the same..... or a wrecking ball and rebuild while we live in kids clubhouse 😕
Jason Hayes DO U HAVE A UA-cam CHANNEL! Ur knowledge and experience are a true treasure! Were considering the same..... or a wrecking ball and rebuild while we live in kids clubhouse 😕
We love you guys! Don't ever think you are complaining! You are relating real life struggles with heart and humor and we are praying for a good outcome from this.
We just had major mold issues. My daughter was sick with mold poisoning. It's expensive to remediate the house. While remediating your child can't be in the house. I second the RV idea.
My dad had powdered lime spread on the crawlspace floor with thick plastic on top of it to keep the flooring dry. It was amazing how dry and basically free from mold it was. Just a thought. God bless you all as you make decisions and changes.
#1 murder the upstairs mold #2 dry up your basement #3 live with friends until you fix it. you can do it. we believe in you. Ask us to help! We WILL help you
I'm so sorry to hear about the mold issue. My heart breaks for that poor sweet little boy. I have asthma too and mold is the worst. You need to get out of that house asap. Mold can cause lifetime health issues. I wish you all the best and I'll be praying for y'all. ❤🙏
Father God, fill them with wisdom in how to deal with these issues of mold. Bless them with needed finances to deal with the changes that need to happen to make their home safe from mold. Please wrap these kids in your loving arms and protect them from any further illness and heal their little bodies. In Your Precious Holy Name, amen.
I also replaced my cloth covered furniture with leather because you can keep it cleaner...go ahead and complain because you have a health crisis but the fact that you are proactive you are a bit ahead of the game. Love you guys...
Dried out my crawlspace recently. We had a bad mold problem in the crawlspace. I laid 10mil vapor barrier, sealed the vents, installed 2 dehumidifiers, replaced the moldy air ducts and fogged the crawlspace with concrobium. Have to clean the joists still, but it’s pretty much ok now. I’m in NC as well btw. Humid as it gets.
Potassium Bicarbonate to treat, it kills spores and is OMRI antifungal. Super cheap and highly effective. We are in ATL but if you message me on Facebook we can bring a mess of tools and help with labor for free. Love you guys and wishing you the best!!!
Couldn't sleep so I started praying for you guys. Listened to the Vlog earlier and my heart just hurts for you. I do not know if you go to church, but a local church could be a great help to both of you in times like these. I know you have your other Homestead Friends that you rely on, but please consider widening your circle of support in prayer, friendship, counsel, and help. You guys are so precious if I could I'd give you whatever you needed. Just some thoughts from someone old enough to be your parent. Big hugs to you both and the kids.
Show me a video around the outside and inside of basement. I am a decades long home builder, water problems are usually not that hard to fix unless you are in a place where the water table is too high. Most times it's a gutter issue. downspouts need run into hard pvc pipe to get it away. Grading issues next to the house is another common problem.
So sorry to hear about the mold. I agree that your channel is about life, with all it's ups and downs. That's why so many people, myself included, are invested in whatever is going on in your lives. If what we're going to hear about for a while is mold remediation, that's fine, because that's what's impacting your lives right now. Hopefully you'll be able to fix your mold problem as quickly and painlessly as possible.
Speaking from personal experience..... Your ability to handle stress and the daily busy, is going to drastically change when the mold is gone. It will take time for your bodies to detox, but the brain fog, eczema, asthma, stress levels, will fade away. Set up an outdoor kitchen, tents or rv, and get it done. I highly recommend an ozone machine to kill off the rest of the mold after you have cut out and removed the issues, and sealed up the sources. Adding a dehumidifier to the crawl space after all remediation is done is advisable too.
Please get in contact with the Self-reliant Roadshow. Prepsteader Bob. They are a wonderful retired Christian couple that goes around helping homesteaders. He is very very knowledgeable about everything. They are the ones that helped Bobblehead Homestead. They are coming your way so please get a hold of them and talk to them. Blessings to you and your home and all that you put your hands to will prosper
Good job guys showing real life problems and real life relationship, it’s not easy working as a team. Keep it up and thanks for sharing. It’s a good reminder for us all to know we are alone in our struggles 👍🏻
Maybe a suggestion if your house isn’t cooled by central air then it may not be a bad option to look into a central ac because not only does it cool your house but also removes excess moisture.
Yes, consider a commercial electronic air cleaner. Check out the units used in hospitals. The services of a big HVAC contractor can set you up with a positive flow of clean air and thereby cut down on the concentration of airborn mold spores.
Danica Mills no WAY! Once it’s in duct work it’s hard and expensive to clean! Window units saved my life in the heat. We cut off our nasty system and used window units and kept them super clean scrubbing with tea tree ect.
Art and Bri, a dehumidifier in the kids’ room may help with their breathing until you get the mold taken care of. Sometimes you may pick one up at a cheap price at Goodwill.
Im sorry you have to add to your already busy schedules! When a problem pertains to your family it is especially difficult as parents, and you are fantastic parents! I know it adds to your stress level but i also know that together you two can overcome anything! Just take one day at a time and with Gods help I know that you will overcome this also. Just stop beating yourselves up about it. Love you guys
I am so so sorry. It’s overwhelming right now. So much work. But you will get it figured out. We removed all carpet and drapes, and while we didn’t have mold, my asthma has almost cleared up. Prayers for you!
We've dealt with the same issues. They make great products to get rid of mold. We've used a primer after cleaning up mold spores, its called Killz and it seals and kills. I also highly recommend dehumidifiers.
carpets are well known for causing breathing problems without mould, I would consider getting rid of it. mould thrives in special circumstances, check the temperature and humidity which mold thrives. ventilation and good air flow helps a lot try to do this right away this should help short term and allow you to consintrate on long term solutions. I hope you can get rid of it soon.
Have either of you ever watched the Toxic Mold Summit? Also home insurance did cover members of my family when they needed toxic mold remediated. As for central air, mold will grow in the ductwork andspread . Condensation at different times of year makes the perfect opportunity for breeding rogue spores. After Removing mold source you absolutely must clean duct work.
Being real and brutally honest is how we can relate to each other on this journey in life. Your videos teach us a lot from the ins and outs of running a farm and family. Your not complaining your sharing your struggles in your life. We all have struggles, ups and downs and happiness ! Thankyou for sharing yours! Be praying for you all!
Very important topic! Completely pertinent to the homesteader, as many farms may have that issue, depending on the levels of moisture. RVShare may be an option, but there may be other, less expensive options, if you move into an RV temporarily. Prayers for wisdom and peace in the process.🙏
Most companies specifically state they don't cover mold remediations costs, (probably because mold is so expensive to remove.) Do more research and find a company that will not charge you $50,000+
Well, that is tragic, but... you are part of an enviable homesteading community and I would not be surprised if many of them came out to lend a hand, etc. "This too shall pass"🙂
So many of us want to help you guys, we want to donate money to help with sorting this out! You give so much to so, so many with your videos, let us give something back, we love you guys! Xxx
My grandfather in Michigan every night before bed time would open the front and rear door for a half hour and air out the house summer and winter to change air in the house. It made a difference in sleeping. It was in the 50's and 60's and a small town and everyone knew each other and crime was not heard of.
Aww. I'm so sorry to hear this. Definitely think a camper RV on your property is a good option. Bri, I do understand the change in focus from homesteading to homeschooling. I've homeschooled for 13 years and that balance is still hard to find. Not comparing or looking at others is my top recommendation. Above all don't feel guilty about lack of UA-cam videos. You do what you need to do!!! No guilt
Yes, just show what you are doing about the mold and quick updates just to keep us posted about your health and house! Cuz you guys need a break!!! You guys are real!! And you are my favorite channel!!! You are living the life that I wished that I could! But I don't know if that will happen now!!!
Mold is such an issue in our climate. I know you will do whatever it takes to change your living situation. Older homes are sure a perfect place for it to grow. Looking forward to the 4th year of Art & Bri..love your channel.
Really looking forward to seeing your mold remediation videos. We have been fighting mold in our basement for an embarrassing amount of time. Insurance will not cover it because it was caused by flooding through our basement and not through our roof, and we don't have the finances to do anything major, nor to replace any of the things we get rid of that have been effected by mold.
Hang in there ... this too will pass. I think you underestimate how your authenticity makes us want to watch because you reflect our lives. Be resilient and God bless you both.
You both are GREAT PARENTS. The fact you are sharing a fabulous yet sacrificial (albeit) solution! You two ARE AMAZING. The easiest way, is not the right way, hardly EVER
Dont put too much pressure on yourselves to make your videos. My favorites are the ones you make where we get to follow you around as you go about your days... I get to live a beautiful life vicariously thru you guys. The best ones are the simple ones. Whoever is in charge of the editing does a beautiful job of just capturing the beauty of your farm and your lifestyle. Good luck with your trials ahead.
I'm so sorry to hear that. Both of you are very strong in your faith and I know you both will find a way to fix it. You and your family are in my prayers and thoughts. May God bless you and your family
I am so sorry yall are having to deal with this. My daughter in law is very sensitive to mold and had to leave a home they were renting a couple of years ago because of it. A water line from the AC was leaking and causing it. She got sick and couldn't get better. They stayed with friends until they bought an RV and then lived on our property for several months. They eventually found another home to rent and sold the RV. Praying that the mold can be eradicated and you don't have to leave your farm. Hopefully through this difficult time good things will come of it, such as a child that is no longer sick. My favorite verse for difficult times that I don't understand why I am going through is Rom. 8:28. Much love sent your way from GA!
I have delt with this issue and started addressing one room at a time. Getting rid of carpet & padding is important. You can do it. Now you know what is needing attention. Work smart not hard. Just do it! Don't worry. ♡ God bless
Having gone through this myself, I now have CIRS. Mould is serious. An ERMI test inside and out to compare and getting professionals in for remediation while you live elsewhere is VERY important. Please do no tackle this yourself without professional advice as it can make things much worse. Dr Richie Shoemaker has sound medical and remediation advice. Please do not attempt pulling carpets etc until you seek professional advice. You will get through this and your sons issues will resolve, til then an air purifier in his room and taking binders til you move will help.
Kendy Kendyy you are spot on! I too am dealing with CIRS as a result of mold in our home. Following Shoemaker’s protocol also. Two daughters have had pneumonia. One with asthma and multiple children with ADHD symptoms. The remediation company told me recently that there is a study published by UCLA linking mold to ADHD, my mothers instinct knew it but it’s now published in a “ mainstream” study.
If someone offers to help with this... and I totally would if I didn’t live In Canada - I say take the assistance! We r a COMMUNITY for a reason . To help each other
Homestead day to day life IS why I watch your channel...... You inspire me on my tough days and keep me motivated when I get bogged down in the day to day farm life.
I am so sorry that you guys are in this situation, I can tell how stressful and upsetting it is for you both. I know that you have a really amazing community out there and I hope that they are able to find a way to help you all out for the safety and protection of your family. I will keep you in prayer.
We had the same issue. My kids were developing respiratory issues and then started with stomach issues and headaches etc. We found mold in our ceilings. Had the tests done and the person said that if there was a higher amount of spores in the house, you would be able to see it. We moved out. You can get it cleaned.
We needed a new roof put on 10 yrs ago. My hubby wouldn't give up the $10,000 for it. Well, the roof keeps leaking, knocked down the ceiling sheet rock in the bathroom, he put up new sheet rock which is all black again. But, he still won't put a new roof on. So, I told him we needed to buy a few acres of land, build a tiny home then bull doze the house and sell the property. Still, he doesn't get it. Hopefully ya'll will figure something out soon. Have a Blessed Day!!!
Found it too in my parents ten year old house. It’s black mold😔. I’m temporarily in a newish apartment complex and found black gunk layered in the bathroom faucet . I had a hazardous material specialist come out and he said the water is filthy in this nice town. He said there’s no black mold but I have a test disc left and sending off to a lab regardless. I already have mold toxicity and trying to navigate through all the supplements. Charcoal, CSM, and five others😳🙄 I’m so sorry y’all are going through this!!!!
Hepa Filter Air Scrubber would help the immediate problem. I know Your doing your research, so i'm sure you will find a solution. Good Luck..God Bless.
Carpet is always bad for asthmatics, along with mold there are dust mites. A dehumidifier and hepa filters do help. To force air exchange you can get window fans with that can blow in and out rather cheaply. Air movement can help dry dampness.
One step at a time, i agree with Bri, tackle the areas one at a time, air purifiers are expensive from what i have heard, im struggling with life myself this week so im crying with you, its hard
I’m grieved that you have this mold problem which affects health, finances, time and energy drain and so much more. I’m thankful that you know to go to the Lord as your source of strength and comfort while you are dealing with all the ramifications and details. I never see you as asking for financial support or complaining but rather just generously sharing your life with us. However, I do hope you will allow the viewer who mentioned it to set up a gofundme account for you. You have many people who are blessed by you and would love to participate and bless you in return. I believe you are in the prayers of many people. I add my own now and into the future as you battle and win this challenge.
So sorry to hear about the mold issue in your home. Will be keeping you in thoughts and prayers most defiantly. Once you know more of the impact and some costs please put out a request and I am confident that the subscribers will help fund the restoration. Thank you for all the work that you do for the channel. God Bless, Rob S. (Rockford MI)
How scary. We had a basement flood 20 years ago and I've always wondered if we have mold in those walls. I know you will do good things and take care of those children excellently. You always do!
Went through hidden mold issue too. Trust your instincts. We'd move into a trailer on your property, wash all clothes, linens, anything you'll use, live with in the trailer. Keep pets out of house too. When taking down the plastic drapes used, we'd recommend wetting them even if contractor uses vacuum because it really cuts down on tons of drywall dust you will see for months. We use Hunter tower air filters even now that we don't have mold. We change filters every 6 months. Our last air quality test was much higher and better than the guy who owned the company. He now has more air filters in his own home. Get your insurance company involved before you touch anything. Ours paid for everything from cleaning to repairs. It's a blessing you found this so your not continuing to expose yourselves. The mold affects everyone different. For me made me sensitive to all kinds of molds, couldn't eat bread, strawberries, banana's, couldn't get around mulch, went to ER by ambulance just weeding garden. Now, I'm back gardening, eating old favorite foods. Blessings, and you'll get through this but get that insurer involved now. Blessings all.
I want to send my blessings to you all. You are doing a wonderful job on your homestead. I think it is great how real you are and that you show your emotions, good and sad ones. That is life, ups and downs, your emotions are real and valid and I love you for showing them. Keep being real and showing your true selves. God bless xx
We had some mold and tore up our house to remove it and have lived in it like that (torn up) for many (10 or more) years. Getting the mold out was my goal, not having a beautiful home. Unfortunately we can't afford both. So we live in a torn up house with holes in the walls and ceilings and no carpeting but we still have so so many blessings. Thankfulness for what we have far outweighs what we don't have. Also, I homeschooled my 7 kids through all their years and they have all graduated college with honors now but, they started with remedial classes because we rarely did anything that looked like school at all. We had life to deal with like you do (animals, outdoor work etc). I have 2 that are working on their masters degree and all are very successful. But we still laugh that we never got past the first page in any curriculum we had. That is truth. Once they learned to read they were on their own. You would be amazed at how little time and energy you need to "school" children. They learn more important things just by living life and wherever they may get behind they easily catch up. Just do what you can and trust that God has got your back. He's in all this with you.
Living in an older wooden house and having really sensitive lungs myself this is something I'm afraid of all the time. I wish you all the best and good luck in figuring out the source! What I would suggest is: 1. Remove the source. It might be worth having someone come look at the roof to make sure there are no leaks and check that the gutters work. Since your house is situatied on a hillside, look into diverting the water running down the hill from your house. Look at the walls indoors, do you see the paint peeling of/puckering? Check under linoleum and carpeted floors to make sure that is not the source. All surfaces made of plastic/acrylic are unfortunetly a possible place for mold, natural breathing surfaces that can dry on their own rarely get moldy. I don't know if it's a possibility over there, but here there are scent dogs trained to find mold sources, maybe check if that is an option? 2. Add ventilation. It's better to have clean air ducts that take the air straight from outdoors than to have the air come through the (possibly moldy) structures of the house. You will need to heat the house more, but that helps drive out the moisture so it can even help. 3. Look into getting air purifiers, at least for the bedroom of the kid that gets sick. These can help with the astma symptoms.
Sorry to hear this Art and Bri, but better now than later. We live in Florida by a lake and It's always musty, tons of mold spores in the air, so if it's not in the house, it's out, especially during rainy season. Good a/c system helps a lot to dry the air out. Building up the immune system in the body helps too. I mean It's hard to get away from mold unless you live in Arizona. Ha. Ha. Does the child eat dairy? Best to come off dairy with asthma, excema etc. Just one more of life's challenges! We all have them. Also you are doing so well on You Tube, 130k!! I remember when you guys were just 60k about a year ago. So keep at it. Now you're on a roll, you'll soon be making decent money off it, just hang in there, keep marching on. God has got this, if you'll let him. Looking forward to updates!
I had mould at my last property. My asthma got worse and i was constantly sick. One cold after another. My daughters room was very bad. We had the whole corner of the house rebuilt. We had all new plaster on the inside. We were still getting sick then 2 years ago i got a cold which effected my breathing. After 5 days i felt so sick my husband called for an ambulance. I was taken in and assessed. I had a very high temperature so it was decided to keep me in hospital. My husband left to go home and care for our daughter but had a call at 11pm which was 7 hours after i was admitted to return to the hospital. He returned and the consultant told him they didnt know what type of bacteria was attacking me but they said i needed to be put into an induced coma so they could fully support me. I was in a coma for 5 weeks. When they bought me out of it i had lost my ability to walk or move fully much of my body. I had lost over 30lbs. I have had months of physio and 2 years later i now walk with a stick or use a wheel chair because i cant walk long distances.. The hospital said i had double pneumonia. We dont know if the mould made my lungs weaker but during living at that house my daughter went from healthy to using 2 types of inhalers steroids and other drugs to keep her stable. She was ok on these meds but had many many chest infections and had so many antibiotics ive lost count. We both have. I now keep back up emergency antibiotics and steroids at home plus a nebulizer.. our health defiantly got worse over time. We have since moved and touch wood we are doing ok.. especially our daughter. We moved a year ago and she has only had one cold.. things for us have improved. I cant say for sure if the mould caused our ill health but we are getting better in our new house. I hope you get the mould treated and removed by what ever methods are available to you and i also hope your beautiful childrens health improves. Im so sorry for this bad news.
We had water damage in our home and the musty smell just kept getting worse and worse because it happened behind a basement wall. I wish we would have fixed it early on. I'm glad you are tackling the problem head on. Health problems will only get worse in a musty house. I got pretty ill. We didn't have respiratory issues we just were not healthy. Anxiety was a big deal. I had panic attacks. One thing that definitely helped me was using vitamin C, when the body is overwhelmed with mold toxins you use up vitamin C very quickly. You could nebulize glutathione for the one with asthma. Also getting a Winix air cleaner. That thing greatly decreased my symptoms as well. But we chose to move out instead of remediate because the smell and spores had permeated so much of the house and our stuff.
I am also from the mountains of North Carolina (Ashe county). When I moved in, the house smelled moldy and humid. I had to have the insulation under the house (crawlspace) ripped out and replaced. Mold problem vanished almost instantly.
I don't think you are complaining or asking for money. I think you are just talking out a problem and looking to see what experience other people have had and how they worked it out. Its good to see younger people talking things out and not just giving up. You will find an answer and a solution, because you have done it before . Good luck, God bless. You have my prayers on your side too.
We live in a 1961 house my husband inherited. I am constantly cleaning up mold. Ughh! He will not relocate because of the historic value. I am aching and hurting all of the time. When I am outside I feel better. Get out and fix it. Prayers going up for you guys! Rhonda
I feel for you guys. I've struggled with mold allergies and asthma my entire life. It got bad when I was in my late teens and early twenties. Things that helped me was removing/replacing soft catch items like carpeting, older mattresses, throw pillows. I replaced flooring with tile and removable rugs. Installed a dehumidifier and an air filter. Best of luck - it'll be hard work but I know you guys can pull it off.
I am so sorry to hear that you have have mold in your house. Many years ago we had mold in our house and we had to move and find another home. The mold made my daughter very sick.As soon as we moved out she was better in no time. I am glad that you detect it and can do something about it. I wish you all the best.
My sister had a house that had mold in it. She had to use kiltz, to paint it over, and then make sure the house was dry. No wet, like showers in her bathroom. We actually built on to the bathroom to make a wet bathroom. Big fan in there to vent it outside. Then they did not have a problem. But with your basement, I am not sure what to do.
Mitigating mold is a long process. But that sure makes sense why chronic cough and why sickness takes long to clear through all of you. Anyone you know have a trailer you could use, while you are removing the mold? That way you only need to be in the house for specific reasons. Big decisions. Praying for you!
Good luck guys. Try to not be overwhelmed. We lived in an Camper with kids while we were doing work on our home. Financially it saves tons. Good luck and always remember Gods grace is sufficient.
Thanks for sharing updates on how you are fixing it. We have had major leaks this year we can't afford to fix. I know mold is a problem but there is nothing we can do about it. As we get funds seeing your how to will be helpful.
I am praying that things will get better for you guys. I remember you being sick a lot in the winter. The house closed up with the moisture and heat is a recipe to make you sick. My heart goes out to you.
There are so many great comments! What a wonderful community this is! Life for sure has its challenges. You're right we all have our share. But life is also about helping each other face these challenges. I pray that you will find the guidance and help you need to fix this asap!
Sorry to hear about your mold troubles! As a professional home inspector, the most common causes are moisture and inadequate ventilation. Open up your crawl space and basement and put in some fans to move air. Check for any sources of moisture or water leaks under the house or in the walls and repair them! Get rid of the moisture and move the air and that should help greatly. For clean up, use vinegar and lemon juice to wash down walls and other surfaces. Keep us posted!
We had mold in our sons room from a water leak on the back side of his BR wall,We pulled carpet out treated floors ,and replaced drywall ,washed all other walls and used a dehumidifier. All of his issues stopped.Prayers for all.
Bri, you're correct that there is mold growing in your home. Mold spore just like plants bloom. What your son is allergic to are the spores, or pollen of the mold. All of you will have to move out while the walls are opened up and the mold removed. I used to work with a man who found black mold in the kitchen. They had to move out until the mold was gone.
Art and Bri I feel your pain. I’ve lost my mom, my dad and brother all had Asthma. I lost my brother and mom both to it. When my brother was little we moved out of an old trailer and into my grandparents house and his asthma improved 10 fold. It’s a big decision I know and I hope it all works out.
Me and my daughter lived in an apartment that had mold problems. It’s not good. If you all can rent or borrow a trailer until you can clean it up it would be a good thing. I’m glad you are sticking by UA-cam. You are good people.
Sorry to hear that you have a mold issue 😞 Glad that you maybe able to help your little one feel better 😊 I will be praying for a quick solution and for stress levels to stay low.
our house has coverage for fungus and mold through our homeowners insurance. you should check with yours to see if the repairs will be covered after deductible.
My house has been built, from the ground up, for 5 years. Last year black mold formed under almost every window. I heat with propane which is 80 percent moisture. What I had to do was paint half of all walls, from the floor half way up, with Kilz. I got it at Lowes and YES it will kill mold spores. Then I had to use Damp Rid in every room and still do. My house is mold free now.
Sorry to hear about this challenge. Praying for peace as you set a plan in motion, enjoy the end of summer and harvest and get going with homeschooling ❤️
Move an RV onto the farm & live it while you do the mold removal. We homeschooled & lived in one for years. At present, we are living in one again because of mold. It made me very sick. I love our 390 sq feet of safe place. God bless.🙏🙏🙏
I hope things get better for you.
This sounds like a good idea!
That was my first thought.
Yup. That's what to do...
Page H I completely agree. Their channel is great no matter what the video content.
Have a similar problem-
Thanks for being #1!!!!!😀

Jason Hayes this is the way to go. We have done this for the last two houses we have been in. Let the experts handle mold!💕
Sounds like a good starting point.💕
We love you guys! Don't ever think you are complaining! You are relating real life struggles with heart and humor and we are praying for a good outcome from this.
We just had major mold issues. My daughter was sick with mold poisoning. It's expensive to remediate the house. While remediating your child can't be in the house. I second the RV idea.
My dad had powdered lime spread on the crawlspace floor with thick plastic on top of it to keep the flooring dry. It was amazing how dry and basically free from mold it was. Just a thought. God bless you all as you make decisions and changes.
#1 murder the upstairs mold
#2 dry up your basement
#3 live with friends until you fix it.
you can do it. we believe in you.
Maybe you need to put a French drain on the north side of your property since it gets less sun and that would help drain off any extra water.
Agree, in Jesus name!
Did you clean the joists and if so how? I've got mold on the joists in my old house's unfinished basement.
Potassium Bicarbonate to treat, it kills spores and is OMRI antifungal. Super cheap and highly effective. We are in ATL but if you message me on Facebook we can bring a mess of tools and help with labor for free. Love you guys and wishing you the best!!!
Jason Ison you are so generous. Bless you
That would be epic of u.
@@MstresVampy we help wherever we can. I love to demo and build 😁
We had mold and my dad stripped the drywall off and scrubbed the timbers then put kilz everywhere, and that worked.
I love your guys's Channel and I think it's pretty humble of you to talk about your financial and other struggles you are going through I commend you
Art and Bri, a dehumidifier in the kids’ room may help with their breathing until you get the mold taken care of.
Art, *great idea* taking us along for the mold work updates. I would be very interested in learning about this in a format like that.
carpets are well known for causing breathing problems without mould, I would consider getting rid of it. mould thrives in special circumstances, check the temperature and humidity which mold thrives. ventilation and good air flow helps a lot try to do this right away this should help short term and allow you to consintrate on long term solutions. I hope you can get rid of it soon.
It is only in one room that we use as a closet . However, yes it is getting ripped up soon.
Thankfully we don’t have any duct work in our house. But we do have very small crawl spaces that are probably contaminated.
A good dehumidifier in basement helped us. Runs continuously in summer. Hope it all works out for you, one day at a time.
There's a product called concrobium you can buy it on Amazon or Lowe's it's about $10 a bottle. It encapsulate mold and also has no vocs.
What about calling your home owners insurance ?
Amber Ravis Not everyone has homeowners.
Yes hang in there. ...you guys have a wonderful community...take care
So sorry you have to deal with mold issues. Please keep us posted on your journey.
To help each other
Make your plans, then your amazing friends will come to help you.
here is a place to communicate... ua-cam.com/video/LGD5Yad9w6A/v-deo.html
Charcoal, CSM, and five others😳🙄
I’m so sorry y’all are going through this!!!!
God Bless,
Rob S.
So sorry guys. I’ll. Be keeping you all in my prayers.
What I would suggest is:
Nicola Bowden it was absolutely the mold, it can literally kill you! A very good thing you moved out of that house and you are lucky to be alive.
What state was that in?
Rhonda
Midsouth Homestead definitely coming from the mold. I have Chronic Fatigue from it. YOU should not be cleaning up the
Old.
My heart is heavy for you and your family, I agree what Justin said to you. I enjoy your channel very much.
So sorry this is happening. Praying for you guys. Any unexpected financial surprise is stressful , you're not alone. Hang in there.
Get a hepa air cleaner for the back room and put down wood flooring.
Sorry to hear about this challenge. Praying for peace as you set a plan in motion, enjoy the end of summer and harvest and get going with homeschooling ❤️
