I have batch 15 on (9 in total). I've blinded groups of 4 on 5 different occasions and get different results every time. What's consistent is batch 15 at, or near the top, 18 or 23b at, or near the bottom. That changed with 23c - new champion!
Great matchup! I had been looking for a Stagg for a decent price for over a year. Then about two months ago I got a 23c at BevMo for 72.00 bucks, then a week later a good friend’s contact got me 9 bottles of 23b for 42.00 per bottle! I gave family and friends some and made a couple of trades and got a 23a and a 22a! Then this week at BevMo I got a Stagg jr batch 17 for 72.00 bucks! Went from zero bottles to 5 different batches with a 23b backup! Great luck for sure! I still smile every time I have a pour! Cheers!
How bout blinding different series of Bardstown Discovery? Or different batches of Smoke Wagon Uncut, to include batches across the various years (pre-2020 and post-2020). Curious to see if the Instagram rumors are right.
Just subscribed after watching your video with gentleman from Oklahoma City. OMG, the guys amazing. You are no slouch either. Love the tasting and look forward to more. I'm an old guy 72 tomorrow in fact and my "palate" is more geared to a lower proof. I just bought a bottle of Johnny Walker Black, don't kill me. My favorite is usually McCallan 8 or maybe 12 if I'm flush.
Thanks for the review Jason! I always go off your videos before I buy since our pallettes are generally aligned. I still love Stagg and EH Taylor Barrel Proof, but as hard as they have become to find I always wait for your review before putting in the time/money.
@danielbanda999 oh man good for you. I don't think there is such a thing as a bad Stagg similar to there is no bad ECBP. Just some are better than others and some are not as good as others
For those that love more of that chocolate/cherry flavor, you’d probably recommend B12 over 23c correct? I opened my 23c, but it s a little more on the fruity/candy and oaky side than I prefer. I typically like bourbons with more of a dessert palate. I do have a batch 12 I got for a great price a few years ago, but I’ve been holding onto it for a special occasion🥃let me know what you think I’d like better!
I somehow managed to score a Stagg Jr. Batch 15 a couple days ago - at SRP, no less (!). Puzzling, since this batch came out in December 2020. 🤔. Anyway, I was stoked since I always assumed Stagg "Anything" would prove near-impossible to secure. Cheers!
I got the bad one this year 23b. I haven’t opened it yet. I really liked batch 13. Saw my first bottle of double eagle today. I didn’t ask the price but I know where one is.
Curious how the 23c stacks up against a few other classics like the batch 15 or other favorites of yours. Give us a gold silver bronze of the past 8-10 batches.
You kill me!! You raved about 22A in November so I bought a bunch of it. NOW, it's the red-headed stepchild of Stagg:( I haven't tried it yet. However, you were right about "Mighty Fine Batch" and Booker's last release of the year. I just can't believe you were so excited about 22A a few months ago and it's so mediocre now.
Just not that helpful to hear about three Stagg’s when most of us can’t find one! Are you still re-reviewing old bottles in ‘24? Love the channel brother seriously ✊🏼✊🏼
B520 won that matchup for me. I've gone through 7-8 B520s and have 5 more bunkered. Probably my favorite bottle of all time. B12 is by far the best Stagg. The others are pretty much interchangeable to me (including the store picks), and all are good. Other than B520, C922, and C923, I'd probably pick any Stagg over ECBP
Honestly I don’t love batch 22a. Probably the worst Stagg I’ve ever tried. Not sure the hype on this one as Stagg is supposed to be sweet and this one is not
Glad it’s not just me! I’m hoping it opens up. But if the most recent releases 22B is a banger imo and should have been added to this line up. Just grabbed batch 12 and can’t wait to compare on my own.
Double Bass idea - Russell’s 13 vs Disco 11
Stuff and whiskey did that one this week
Disco 11 goes better with RR SR F
I don’t want to do this blind 🥲 my sweet innocent delicious RR13 might get stomped
Disco 11 won for me.
@@chipgar63 when they said both were “thin”, I bout fell out of my chair😂😂😂
My favorite Stagg is the one I find at MSRP. Still haven't found one but not really "hunting" for it.
Dont stop hunting man I thought it was impossible until I found one 👍 and it’s so much sweeter knowing you got it for a damn good price

That’s awesome! Good for you!
Man...I wish I could find just a single bottle of this..
Enjoy your pours, m8s!
I haven’t seen anyone do a Maker’s Cask Strength and Larceny barrel proof blind yet.
How bout blinding different series of Bardstown Discovery?

Favorite Stagg batch 14
I agree. Batch 14 got better with time ( I actually prefer it over 15 now).
Nice review and comparison. I have 8 batches of Stagg / Stagg Jr and 22A is my favorite so far. 🥃
I think the 22a got mislabeled with 24c honestly.
In my next life I hope to have 3 Staggs at the same time!!!!! (Just 1 would actually work)
Man, I would just be happy to have three bottles of stagg. Lol keep up the good work.
Triple Bass idea. Old forester 1910, Old Forester 1920, and Old Forester 1915 (blend equal parts 1910 and 1920)
The last batch I was able to find at a reasonable price was batch 12. I have had the 10 and the 12. I still have a 12 on my shelf too!

I scored a bottle of the 22c not long ago. Very nice bourbon. Solid review. I like the blind comparisons.
Batch 16 is my favorite, but I think I preferred 22a to 23c but I might have to revisit those.
Thanks for the review Jason! I always go off your videos before I buy since our pallettes are generally aligned. I still love Stagg and EH Taylor Barrel Proof, but as hard as they have become to find I always wait for your review before putting in the time/money.
I have only been lucky enough to get one Stagg. I was able to get it at MSRP as well. It was Stagg 22b and I really enjoy it
Stagg 23b in my opinion beats 23c. I was very fortunate to find 4 over the Christmas break at retail.
@danielbanda999 oh man good for you. I don't think there is such a thing as a bad Stagg similar to there is no bad ECBP. Just some are better than others and some are not as good as others

@@danielbanda999 NOBODY!!! GO BLUE! Hail to the VICTORS!

Need to get my hands on one of those staggs this year to review myself. Thanks Jason love supporting your channel. Hope you get 100,000 by next week.
Never had any, they are hard to find in Philly.😎 Cheers 🥃
I still have an unopened Batch 12 😊
You should name the blend “The Stagger” lol
Man I’d love to see 22b in that blind .. 22b is my fav out of all the Stagg I’ve had .. most just b me lol
Nope you’re not alone. Every time I find a bar w 22B I get a pour. It just does everything so good! I haven’t been able to find one for sale tho 😭😭

23C all the way. What an amazing pour.
I’ve only bought one bottle of Stagg and it’s the 23C. I really like it but I haven’t had the others to compare it.
Cheers!
Love this matchup. I will have to do the same. My prediction is still 12
I got the bad one this year 23b. I haven’t opened it yet. I really liked batch 13. Saw my first bottle of double eagle today. I didn’t ask the price but I know where one is.
Good video. March madness pool this year?
Did you look at Batch 12 at the end and put it in front of glass 2? Asking because glass 2 was 23C. 🤔
How about a Russell's single rickhouse CNF versus a store pick Russell's from CNF? Just found 3 store picks of CNF and can't wait to try it!
Curious how the 23c stacks up against a few other classics like the batch 15 or other favorites of yours. Give us a gold silver bronze of the past 8-10 batches.
Double Bass suggestion, STAGG JR BATCH 12 VS EC C923
Super fun. Maybe a double Bass King of Kentucky and 1924..... lol... Have a Great Day Everyone 🥃🥃🥃🥃
I have a Staggs Jr, but don't know which batch. Any way to find out?
Just Google “Stagg jr” + the proof point you’ll find it pretty quick
Can you double base a C923 vs 23C..?
I second this! ECBP vs Stagg Jr. But no need to do them blind as you’ll know which are which.
I third this, as long as 23B in there
No 22A for me😐 luckily I have a 23C and 3 12s
Batch 17.
My favorite
Man, I was hoping B17! Just kidding! Can’t wait to see the results!
Good Stagg Party!

Oh it's far from mediocre. But in the blind it fell flat. It's still a great stagg but the 23C was better and the batch 12 is just too good
You're a lucky man!
I never see Stagg for less than $350 in my area, and while ive had several pours of it from friends and do like it, it aint worth $350 imo
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
I think STAGG “Trifecta” sounds better than Triangle 🥃
You going hunting for old forester 1924 tomorrow?
Yep
@@TheMashandDrum hope you got some!! I ended up with 2 this morning. Gotta thank the lady 😂
I'm in South Georgia so when I do see a Stagg it;s $399,00
Not sure why 22B doesn't get more love. Especially with fans of rich oak. I would blind 22B with batches 14 and 12!!!
I still have 2 bottles of b12🤫
