CLEAN WATER, FAMILY HIKE MASSIVE SOUTHERN CRAYFISH GETS RELEASED - STRIPED TRUMPETER(CATCH AND COOK)

- Опубліковано 14 жов 2021
- In this adventure of Kai down under me and my Whanau take a quick hike mission behind Bluff hill in search of some Kaimoana for dinner.
There's plenty of Paua out there but I only take a couple, I also stumble across heaps of crayfish but decide not to take any and leave them for another day.
I test out my new DS1 dive torch from XSTAR and it changes the vision factor I've had previously for cray hunting.
For dinner I knock over a tasty Striped Trumpeter and cook it on the new outdoor fireplace I made during the latest level 4 lockdown here in New Zealand.
I hope you enjoyed this video guys and that you took something away from it.
If you haven't already then don't forget to subscribe now, leave me a like and comment where you're watching from.
Safe diving to all and take care out there!!!
Cheers.....
Shanan

Hi, found your channel recently, diving and watching from Christchurch. Looking forward to spring time and some more dives
Awesome bro cheers, I found your channel when I first started out UA-cam and really enjoyed your diving around Kaikoura, I'm definitely looking forward to some calmer water and warmer water myself.. take care🙌
Cool vid Good Commentary
Thanks Harley
South Africa
Chur bro watching from Whangarei
Meannn!!! Shout out from the deep south
Watched from taranaki bro, nice education on the cray
Chur Tyson, thanks for watching bro👌
From South Africa, West Coast. We only got 12 days per year to dive craws and last season the water was bad on 8 of the 12 days. Envy you guys from NZ and Oz.
Hey!!! That's interesting, why is there a timeframe to gather there? Is the fishery under threat or low numbers?
I think we're pretty lucky here to be able to do it year around, I know things are different in Australia too
@@kaidownunder7870 It is definitely not under threat. It's all politics. The abalone black market is big here. R1000 per kg. The politicians get their cut from the cartels. So, unfortunately, law-abiding citizens can't dive for abalone, but poachers have free-range. I spearfish and I tell you, there are plenty of craws and abalone out there.
Watching from Porirua mean vids bro
Churr from the deep south bro🤘
Love the dives and content all the way from SA Brother , keep it up...🤟🤟
Chur Gerhardus!!!
Amazing video and awesome vis bro
Chur the bro, the Viz was definitely onnnnnn this day, well to my standards anyway😂
Absolute legend! ❤
Yeah just take what you need guys, aloha! I'm north of San Francisco these days, used to be oh Oahu. We got abalone in this area like Salt Point. I know what you mean about the great whites, they are around here.
Chur bro nice to see like minded people not taking there limit everything they dive.
I find the smaller crays nicer eating myself so leave the big boys alone to.
Grew up at Oreti Beach but live up north in Cntral hawkes bay now .
Keep the videos coming bro they're awesome.
Your mate Sammy is a Crack up to .
Haha Sammy is definitely a unique one🙃 heard good things about the hawkes bay sealife, my Dad is from Wairoa so probably not too far from you🤙

Chur my bro, we still need to connect for a mission
Watching from Ōtepoti. Would love to see a basic 'how to enter water' and maybe a 'basic equipment to get started' video. Would love to get into collecting kai for my whanau.
Cool bro, there are heaps of other vids out there to get you started with some education, that's exactly how I learnt too, will take this idea for another day when I have more experience myself, still just a rookie😅
Was wondering what app u use for tides n stuff
Love ur mahi batha
Heya! I just use the NZ tide app, can download it on playstore🤜🤛
Again, another great video! Awesome whakaaro that should be shared with a lot of diver - we don’t need to take, take, take! Sometimes the lessons the moana give is enough to take home. Chur
Aē bro! Thanks for jumping on the Kaupapa. Appreciate it
Chur brother, Beautiful video 🙏
Chuer ma bro
Your editing gets better with every video. Enjoyable to watch. How deep are you when you come across those crays?
Thanks for the feedback bro,not bad for just editing on my phone aye😂
Im always trying to evolve as a diver and a creator🙌 these crays were in about 8mtrs depth which is just on the edge of my comfort zone, I'm not a very deep diver but am working on it🤘
@@kaidownunder7870 Damn, I'm even more impressed now I know you are editing on your phone! Your diving is far better than mine, I've chucked the tanks when diving behind the hill there and I've always said that it starts to come alive with sea life around that 10 meter mark.
Too much brother!!! How did the trumpeter go on the open fire bro?
To be honest I overcooked it a bit bro, first time using the fire but I'll get use to it soon hopefully.
Hope you're well my bro
After I grab a softy shell it kind of puts me off or makes me nervous im going to ruin another, good to see respect for Tangaroa e hoa! great vid!
Definitely not a good feeling huh, sometimes we just don't know if they're going to be soft or not, in this case though I felt like I shoulda been more on it. He sat himself out in the open and I shoulda clicked on to what he was upto but I got buck fever and it cost him a few legs😅.
It's all learning I guess. Thanks for the Aroha🤘 take care out there
Chur mean kaupapa
Thank you ✌️
Once again smashing them edits my bro ! Looks like the viz has been great 👍 can't wait to get back down there!!
Viz has been good bro yeah, but you know in Bluff it can change overnight😂

Thank you number 1 supporter
Awesome dude, your vids make me homesick, we used to walk down to that same spot. Just about to kick into the seasons here in Tasmania so will see what this whenua has to offer :)
Awesome man, maybe when this whole covid thing blows over (if it ever does) you can come home and relive it, I'd love to dive Tazzy, have seen some really awesome vids from there
@@kaidownunder7870 yeah some great access to Southern Bluefin Tuna, and some mean scollie beds here ... everything else is pretty average compared to home though ;)
respect for dropping those crays bro could of had a cray for a feed but gave some respect to the ocean not much people would have
🤜🤛
Awsom bro, luv 2 join in one day, but up north, south waikato, i have an aunty Karen on 40 bainfield rd that would realy apriciate a paua, if we can grab an extra on the next adventure, keep safe, keep the vids coming, chur, BRENDON
Awesome video well done just wondering places like this where you were diving at is there public access or is it through private land just curious on these sort of spots with the numbers of crayfish an Paula around cheers an keep up the good work 🤟
Cheers Graham, yep this is all public access, a 10-15min walk from the road, definitely plentiful here and it came stay that way of we treat the ocean with respect and sustainability in mind🙌
Fantastic spot New friend subcriber here maUban quezon philipines 2pec's tv godbless 🙏🙏🙏
