Iv just discovered them 😢 I wish I saw them, I feel like I should have grew up listening to them, my dad was a miner etc & the music is just class 🙌 I can’t stop listening.
At the age of 13teen years I followed like all over the place buzz yes you did no bad in life Denny I’m 53yo Scheme is still are relevant now as they were way back writing these songs in the 70’s 80’s right thru till Denny passed so sad that ppl didn’t give you a chance if only but still in relevance always will be be my love my life plus my twin boys my younger cousins played it so it will alway be as relevant ♥️🎸😍😉
First saw Scheme at Possilpoint Community Centre one Saturday afternoon, then when they started doing the Brothers Bar every Friday night. Great memories, also remember their gig in May 1982 at kelvingrove bandstand.
I never appreciated the Band at the time as I moved to London when Scheme were at there best. Years later I got to know Denny a little pure gentleman quality human being and a great artist. I wish I had more time to get to know you mate and learn some of your songs. God Bless you Denny Thanks for the songs the music ❤
Grew up listening to scheme cause of the auld man 👌 still brilliant and 20 times better than the crap we have today ... As a Easterhouse Boy Through And Through Cheers ;)
The days when What Every Woman Wants was Primarks equal ! the best of times ..the happiest of times x never forget my pride when I saw Desi wearing the same Whateverys t-shirt that I had in the pages of the Daily Record. ps I still have the Daily Record clippping (but not the t shirt!!)
People are quick to judge scheme as a band .drugs,Ned's,aw that bullshit.they never sold out socialists till the end singing about Thatcher ,drugs ,police harrasment, and racism .I salute them Glasgow's finest
I had the pleasure of meating John Smith a few times, I met up with John in 2005 at John's house for a jam and and a blether, it was a great night as we both played in bands from Easterhouse at the same time, we jammed "Well Alright" "Only a Cowboy" and John tried to show me how to play "Young Warrior".... I was well impressed that he managed to answer all of my 200 questions that night and he along with Cammy Forbes from The Dolphins inspired me to put out the website Glasband 80.......I was at John's funeral last year and I was so shocked that he died so young. I will miss you John and I will always remember your talent, inspiration, and kindness , I will alwzys remember that jam session we had with fondness. RIP may friend.
REST IN PEACE JOHN SMITH A.K.A SMIDDY,TO THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW SADLY JOHN SMITH (SCHEMES GUITARIST)PASSED AWAY YESTERDAY MORNING,PLEASE LEAVE ONLY RESPECTFUL COMMENTS,MICK MARTIN
excellent, I loved scheme growing up in Livingston, 20+ years later became very good friends with a couple who knew them personally & while watching this my mates brother is in it, Jimmy Gracie. sadly no longer with us. Some of the stories Steph & June told us would loved to of been there, you can tell they were a great part of there life. just wish I could of met they guys myself 😄
Fer fucks sake , cant believe some of the stuff I'm reading here ~ Jimmy Gracie, no longer with us . Ran about with Steph when we were wee ~ stealing EVERYTHING we could get our hands on up in Garrowhill . And wee Junie ~ character. If your reading this guys ~ all the best.
was at school with john smith, sorry bout giving your age away. how are u rab ? loving ur music from way back. cranhill school john? knocked it down now, we must be on our pensions ha ha! this band stood there ground, my respect always, teddy.
So great to see this again, I remember having this on VHS when it was first aired, me and my best friend watched it all the time. It was also around the time my friend had his first car, we recorded all the music from this documentary onto a cassette so we could play it in his car. Driving around listening to Scheme, good memories, good times.
Admirable they stuck to their roots which is a shame in many ways as the world never really got to see them as one Scotlands best bands but hats off to them for never selling out for a fast buck and becoming just another mainstream band!
I'm going to the plug at this time. Jumbo Collins from the Drummy,we shared a few smokes.i was wet behind the ears,he got released and i got remanded...Halcyon days.....I done my time... The fellah with the Jean Jacket strikes me as very clever..The very man who shouted "All the Best guys"..Ride on..
This band scheme where a fantastic band and they never sold out great musicians too and some great songs as good as anyone in the 1980s I think there was an agenda against them becoming big good guys
RIP JOHN SMITH , DRUGS RUINED SCHEME & THAT PRICK JOHN STORIE WHO MURDERED THE WEE BOY AT THE SAVOY CONCERT, SCHEME WHERE NEVER THE SAME AFTER THAT JOHN WAS SOME GUITARIST RIP M8
The only band that had the balls to call out that evil witch Maggie Thatcher. And that's why no one signed them. They were to political for the mainstream music industry. My older brother Robert from Cranhill toured with them. He was only 15 and disappeared for 6 months with Scheme across Europe. Our Da gave him a good kicking when he got back. Good old days. 😂😂😂

16 mins onwards, is it any wonder they didn't get a deal? Smacked out of their eyeballs! A true musical talent but the drugs never helped.
