I kinda like how Path of Da’at sounds like a distorted and messy version of the first/base game Mementos theme to show how Maruki has basically glued Mementos back together after it was destroyed and reshaped it into his own image.
I think I am the only person alive that likes A Woman the most. It's slow, mysterious, and eloquent

Not my favorite, but in my Top 5. Very underrated track.
I'm not sure it's my favorite, but it's the one I can leave on the longest before wanting to change it.
It's not my favourite but it leaves a certain impression on me the other themes don't. I think it's because when you're new to the game, palace 1 feels like forever (not because it's dull, but because it's the entire game until you reach palace 2). Finally exploring palace 2 felt like something new and wonderous, and it really gives a sense of progression.

I love how every Palace Ruler's portrait uses their real world appearance before you meet their Shadows, but Maruki's is just a faceless figure because you don't even know he's the Palace Ruler until you encounter him
No, you know he's the palace ruler from the moment you enter the newer reality, at least if you maxxed his Social Link.
P5's writing is very weak at times, and terrible at hiding plot points. Like Akechi, for example.

@@midnalight6419 i mean, in defense of the game, they only introduced 2 new characters, and improved Akechi's social link. If you played persona 5 vanilla, the choice gets between the 3 (trust me, I know A LOT of persons that tought the new palace was Kasumi's), so I think that for those who went straight to royal without normal p5, the reveal could've been much better... I think.

Yes, A Woman is a very soothing theme. It fits the palace and Yusuke like a glove.
Gentle Madman has to be the best one. It suits Maruki alot. The Whims of Fate suits Sae pretty good but not as good as gentle madman suits Maruki.

‘The new Mementos themes’ are very underrated. I love the piano motif that plays most importantly at 40:32 and the reprise at 47:40, you can hear these notes throughout the game, I think it’s a theme to represent the Phantom Thieves. You can also kind of hear it at 54:26-54:40
I believe it represents them starting to get fame, as the people start to recognize them and they slowly become part of the collective conscious
Gentle Madman is so memorable. Not surprised due to it being the best palace in the game.

@@adamH.1 His ruler portrait looks like his regular self because a) Phantom Thieves don't see his Shadow until the actual boss fight, and b) that's how his Shadow actually looks. The reason you first see him as regular Shido (just with golden eyes) is most likely because his public image is that of an honest politician, only when he is challenged he reveals his true colors as a dictator and gets the new outfit.
Freedom and Security really builds up tension while heading to the bottom of mementos in the base game. Like you feel the threatening presence of the Holy Grail before even seeing it as you head down the colosseum. Top tier music planning. Gentle Madman really has a finality vibe to it that really gives you “Here it is, the home stretch.” Vibes.
I love how well whims of fate suits Sae, the palace theme- a casino, and just AHHH i can really vibe with it. Its really nice and one of the only palace themes i didnt get sick of hearing. I wish i had made more backup saves in nijima’s palace lol, cus i want to revisit it, it was a lot of fun in general, it was different

Mementos was such a drag to do because of how repetitive the map AND the music were. I enjoyed it a lot more in Royal.

30:00 is exactly when you realize the lietmotif for both Tokyo Daylight and most of the songs in Shidos palace are the same.
I think it’s because the threat of Shido’s palace is that he’s going to be the major and will have complete control of Tokyo.
You can hear Tokyo Daylight's leitmotif in 2 palaces.
In Futaba's palace it's played in minor: she feels inferior, not whorty of living in the city outside her room.
On the opposite hand Ark uses it in a major key: Shido feels superior, even if Tokyo and Japan were flooded he would comfortably see everyone else drown.

@@ChromaTheAnimator The entire song is Tokyo Daylight, same goes for Freedom and Security. Its the same song but the tonal shift is altered, with obvious new tones put in its mix. Listen to each song and either speed them up or slow them down and boom. Magic happens

It’s fine on its own, but listening to it for the entire game makes you wanna jam pencils into your ears.
Hearing them (though I haven't played the game myself), I do feel the original mementos is the best one, but having variety in it is nice, even if they do sound worse.

Kamoshida's Palace really hit me hard with a wave of nostalgia for my first playthrough. Honestly thought I wouldn't like Persona 5, just didn't seem like a game I'd be interested in. But I am so glad I was wrong! This game is already in my top 5
Ps plus gave me an opportunity to try out this amazing which at first I wouldnt like simply because it was turn based combat. I was wrong

Whims of Fate is my favorite as a song, When Mother Was There is my favorite as a palace theme if that makes sense
Something I noticed. Kaneshiro's and Shido's shadow selves are barely changed from their normal selves. My theory for this is that they are probably the biggest actual criminals out of all the palace owners and know they're in the wrong. And as such their shadow self just looks exactly like their normal self with little to no changes
(And no. We don't ever see Shadow Maruki. It's just normal Maruki in his own palace)
Maruki already accepted his Shadow, that's why
Using Persona 4 logic, Personae are ones Shadow, accepted. Hell, the voice you hear during the awakenings are probably the Shadow doing their beatdown, except they're accepted by ripping the mask off.
I don’t think Maruki even has a shadow, because by typical Persona logic and Futaba’s awakening, Personas are Shadows once their human accepts them. So I guess Azathoth/ Adam Kadmon is Maruki’s Shadow

My only problem with Royal was the ability to auto kill weak enemies meant the final foray into revamped Mementos was just a waltz and that was the one time I wanted to go into Mementos

tbh i really like how in the first 5 palace havers (if you will), in their sprite thingys you can see their treasure! eg. kamoshida is holding his medal, madarames features the sayuri, kaneshiros has those fake bank notes with his face on, futaba is holding herself and okumura is holding the spaceship set!
Maruki’s theme is just a vibe. If it was just the first piano part I would love that too. The first time I entered it (being the time the dancer gets her persona) I was thinking nothing bad is here. The peacefulness and the music makes it seem that way.
The other version of Okumura's palace reminds me of Trigun's ost

Everyone has it's favourite Palace Theme, but almost everyone agrees that all of them are just so good that it's only matter of taste to decide the best

Whims of fate suits it's palace design best, gentle madman it's palace rulers personality and Ark fits the story best, I like the tention building sound while you are running right into the "final" fight of the story against the antagonist

@@sploogeimpulse in my opinion my favourite palace themes probably have to be in this order kaneshiro's (another version), futaba's, maruki's, okumura's, mementos, madarame's, shido's, and kamoshida's. Also I have to be completely honest but I personally don't like sae's palace or her palace theme. Was quite surprised to find out how many people adored her palace and whim's of fate. Just my opinion

the way i always and i mean ALWAYS listen to ark on repeat- like that theme song specifically has me in a hold. it’s so presidential like with a hint of badass maybe? i can’t explain it well but it matches together perfectly. like we all know that shido was a really really bad person but ark definitely fit him so well.

The Days when my Mother was there - Futaba, my dearly beloved P5:R Waifu, i will safe you again and again
i absolutely love how palace themes progressively get more intense as they start to take the roles of phantom thieves seriously, and then the music in the final palace is a lot less intense as they’re doing it for personal reasons and not reforming the society as a whole
and you can also notice how the phantom thieves act less like thieves as the game progresses because of fame lol
I like how before you meet the shadow it’s just the picture of who you think the ruler is and then, when you finally meet them, it is officially the shadow watching you along with their treasure, usually

when mother was there is underrated as hell, gameplay wise futabas palace was the most annoying for me first play through because of how the difficulty spiked and i was underleveled but the music kept me going
I got really lucky since I was barley 22 at the palace and thru the fusion alarm I got a persona with no weakness and that regenerated a good amount of heal each turn and after a battle gave back health and sp
Underrated? Is one of the most appreciated songs in the entire game, like it's 4th place after 'Gentle Madman', 'Whims of Fate', and 'Price'

"Ark" fits really well after the team is finally reunited and begins their final push. Gentle Madman comes second because piano!
I always thought most of the other versions for the palace more. Especially kaneshiro’s palace theme. I mean he’s the first person you fight who was been responsible for people actually dying and not just being horribly mistreated.
To be fair, Madarame was responsible for one of his pupils committing suicide, and Kamoshida almost was.

I love all of the themes. My personal favorite is Ark, but not a single palace theme is bad.
King, Queen, and Slaves is really good and fits the theme of a perv really well.
A Woman is a really sophisticated theme that reminds me of an artist, and would sit in second place for me.
Price is a very rich (Pun intended) theme that builds itself up very well within its verses.
Days When Mother Was There is a very sorrow theme with a great guitar solo and just fits Futaba very well.
Sweatshop gets a lot of shit, but I personally don’t think it’s deserved. The metal-type vibe from it is really well done and although it’s probably one of the worst if not, it’s still great.
The Whims of Fate is great without a lot of explanation. It adds a lot of groove to exploring the casino and makes the palace a lot more fun.
Ark is a grand theme. The french horns, toned down vocals, trumpets, and super underrated drum background makes this one my
favorite. One of its verses is also creatively a remix of Tokyo Daylight, which is perfectly done in my eyes. The piano version is also great.
Freedom and Security is great, and has a great guitar verse along with OP background music.
Mementos could be better, but the jazzy background to exploring the dark subways within it to me is still good.
Gentle Madman is Maruki’s song. The piano is just really great and was the perfect choice for making his theme.
For me I’d rank them like Ark>A Woman>Whims of Fate>Days When Mother Was There>Price>Gentle Madman>Freedom and Security>King, Queen, and Slaves>Sweatshop>Mementos but I could understand if you’d rank them differently because they’re all great.
