Baristan didn't reveal his identity or swear loyalty to Denerys until he judged her to be a worthy leader. That was the whole point of the Arstan Whitebeard ruse. Also keep in mind this man fought for Aerys Targarian to the bitter end. Baristan does not swear or break oaths lightly.

Thanks for another awesome stream lml! To me, it definitely seems like George was very much enjoying writing these Barristan chapters. His speech towards the end of this chapter specifically is really something special. Also appreciate the RHCP love, was just listening through Blood Sugar Sex Magik in the car earlier today!
Interesting point about Barry + Victarion dynamics, I never thought of it. imo there will be a LOT of tension with the Westerosi, mostly based on the Ironborn. The Ironborn are historical enemies of both the Mormonts and the Lannisters, and Victarion personally raided Lannisport within Tyrion's adult-ish life. Obviously they will have to work together so Barry will have a lot of team leadership work to do until Dany gets back.
Wow I was just wondering about the translation of Barristan’s symbolism during the Battle of Fire to Jon’s in the final battle, and you started discussing it right after. You’re always spot on LmL. Thanks for the stream!!
Watching this video and listening to all hopes about TWoW after watching your Reasons Why GRRM is Stuck vide is soooooo sad. But I'll not give up! I'll still think positively for George!
Love this new content, exploring the sample chapters. I agree with holding back on the Barristan 2 sample, you can't delve into the symbolism if you don't have the text. Glad to see someone with an audience breaking apart the myths and at the very least giving your take on the condition. It really touched me and Katy that you read out my experience. Which was an attempt to add my voice to yours. You know a non-ADD person's thoughts, as it's important for people to know that you just have to accept the condition and you'll get there. No one is doing anything on purpose, it doesn't have to be some burden. I see people who have ADD/ADHD with family members or partners who act like they are survivors struggling against some persistent battle. And it's such a fucked up way to think and it bothers me. Long winded, I know, but that stream really stuck with me and we wanted to thank you and Quinn again from the bottom of our hearts for shining a light on this topic. I won't say problem or issue because it's not an issue if you understand the condition and accept that basically all it means is that someone has different needs to someone else. So glad you got the Adidas thing sorted! 😂 lol, sorry it's taken me awhile to get through. Did you know that they form strong bonds with their flock and will grieve if one gets injured. I've seen a group of galahs trying to lift an injured one off the road when it was hit by a car. Oh also great discussion on Barry! I think he's going to try to unite Danie and Aegon
Aight - so I think Selmy is going to stick with Dany. I don't know why, but I think he just wants to stick to something. A good cause. I don't know if JonCon and company are going to be enough to convince him to switch sides. If JC is infected and goes nutty during that time, that's going to make it pretty easy to decide.
We're talking on twitter about it - Jackie, Austin and I are in agreement that Barristan isn't actually a turn cloak or anything like that, given that he was part of the King's Guard, and it's not his fault his vows are for life. Which is why we think using that as pretext to betray Dany is bunk. It's not like the dude was rubbing his hands together every time the Crown changed. Heck. *Robert* made the choice to save Selmy based on his valour alone. That's not on him. IF Semly betrays Dany, I think it'll be an echo of his time with the mad king, but rather than live with regrets again he'll understand what he has to do, and that's a huge if. Also if Grrm goes full mad queen.
Yeah I think he is definitely all in for Dany it would be bad for Barristan's story arc if he betrayed her I think. At the very least if he betrays her it will have to be to save others from certain death or something.

Their dead caried bacterias from a disease that had broken out in China a bit before that and so it broke out in the city too. The people in the city saw dead bodies rain onto the city and afterwards a strange sickness spring up and fled the city. They spread it to other ports and so to the rest of Europe.
I am so here for your video on Daenerys blows the horn. You know I've been putting forward that idea for years. Also, I believe that the dusky woman was sent to blow the horn. Whether she will get to or not is to be read in the future.

this chapter reading and commentary format is really nice. I don't remember the exact line, but in the kingbreaker chapter I remember reading a line that made me think Hizzdar might be genuine.
Can't be stopped. I thank you for that and everything. By the way, I heard this american pronunciation of Adidas the first time in your stream and it took me a few seconds too :D
My 4 year old loves the Red Hot Chili Peppers! And I had your video on the tv and he flipped out when he saw he was matching with you! Haha he happened to be wearing that exact shirt 🙌🏽 love it!
@@DavidLightbringer oh I don’t know if it’s still around, like in production. I found it at Goodwill. Haha But anyway, I like your videos! Being in Barristans perspective at this time is wild. So much is happening and all Barristan can do is what he knows best. Which of course is swing a sword and be bold.
For Isaac's question you opened the discussion, so.. (please don't ban me)..: everyone thinks Joncon will take KL like battle of the bells, this is wrong. He will take it like Tywin took KL. The people who think faegon don't realize or remember Varys is Aegon's ally and knows a secret way into KL. The gates will be open for Aegon just like the gates for Daenerys were. Aegon will spare Cercei and Tommen, lock them in the tower. It will be acts like this that will attract Barry, also Septa's account of the escape and her baby's death, also Daenerys escape and the other two of Davos'fingers... (leaving that here, treading lightly) Oh Joncon will ask to Barry to replace him.
Funny we say adidas wrong but in England they were saying Nike wrong... They say it like it should sound with that silent E.. Great stream man thank you for all the hard work you put in these.
I'd always thought that the green grace is the harpy, but recently I've thought maybe there is no one person and it's just a conspiracy of the noble families.
I think Barristan will stay with Dany. He wouldn't have left Robert, or even Joffery's side had he not been thrown out first. And I've always speculated on what would have happened with him if they hadn't thrown him out; would he push the truth of the letter Ned gave him from Robert.
Australian here. We say "ADi-dasss". P.S. Baristan regrets being negligently loyal to Aerys for so long, so I think that if Dany makes just one pretty questionable move, he's gone. P.P.S. There's a really good, and dare I say..."creepy", version of Creep, by Scala (I think).
I don't believe Baristan is naive in any since of the word. He's extremely honorable and an idealist but he seems to have a pretty clear understanding of the realities of human nature, warfare, and politics. He's displayed some pretty keen insights about the people around him and has called several people out on their B.S.. Both Cersi and Hizdar made the mistake of being dismissive of Baristan because of his age and apparent simplicity. Tyrion, Victarion, and all the others on their way to Mereen may regret making the same error.
(this is a difficult subject to tackle and avoid forbidden Daenerys topics, I'll try) The V for Vendetta situation often comes with people covering their personal vendetta's or crimes with politics. When rulers don't understand the culture or people they sit in judgement of, these things happen. Re: Middle East history, American history, Africa's history, so on. Religion rules after the state falls, so Green Grace isn't the harpy (most likely) but can order the stop of use of the masks/markings. Most of the harpies actions are just a cover for crimes or personal vendetta's rather than politics. The Harpy is a excuse (mostly) not a real movement.
“it was the hour of the wolf, the longest, darkest hour of night.” interesting that it’s the hour of the wolf. feels like a pretty blatant long night/stark heroes call out
@Mitch.. the show gives us mirroring clues, while we wait. Definitely a good thing, it sets a stage for better fantasy shows/movies and a vaccine for the damage by Xena/Herc
I btw have you to thank for us not getting an exotic bird, thank you thank you thank you. My wife wanted the exact type you have and i played her the clip where you say why not to get the bird and you saved me a lot of money and headache
I think Barry is going to be the 'betrayal for love', and switch to Faegon and JonCon. And I think TWoW will be released around the same time House of the Dragon airs. Whenever that is (early 2022?)
Wolfman Jack, Jack Russell (Marvel), Jack (Michael Moorcock's), Jack the Giantslayer, Jack and the Beanstalk, Jack and the Candlestick, and so on. Any Jacks you see, he thought about it. Edit: touche Will, every jack except Penny
So, I dont know if this has been pointed out, but I always pictured Barristan in the later books as an inversion of Gandalf the white. His appearance as Arstan matches the picture of Gandalf I had in my head (white long beard, humble appearance that hides his true power, he even fights with a staff, silver horse), he plays the role of the mentor character for one of the main protagonists and trying to save a city and he even fought a Band of nine (Nazgul/Ninepenny). I'm calling him Inverted because he screws things up, because of his "simplemindedness" and lack of political knowledge. Sry for my english, it is not my native tounge And I almost forgot: his main action in this chapter is encouraging his lads before battle, which is the heart of Gandalfs Power (he posesses the elven Ring of fire)
Barry gonna stay loyal to the Targaryen crown and that's as much I'm willing to say in this channels' comment section. Edit: ok you seem a lot friendlier to Truegon stuff than the past, caught me by surprise. Aegon outranks Daenerys for the crown, this and many rationalizations will have Barry jump "ship".
Defending the line for the throne tonight...with a light on...bringer glow. By the way I tried to say, I'd be there..beyond the wall. Dany the queen we're singing songs to thee beneath *a heart tree...overload.. Godswoods...oldtown..lol ok I'll stop...lol
Barry and Vic both say that they live for a sword in the hand, they will both die without. Edit: the sailor proverb applies here to vic and Barry. Btw does Barry= Hawkmoon (Moorcock's)? Been trying to figure out who's Hawkmoon, probably I should read the Moorcock's books....
He still wanted Drogon dead that’s enough for me to remove him as king. How else would you deal with someone who called for the death of one of the queens children?
Years ago I named a D&D character Adidas Zarmunimos, exactly the way you pronounced Adidas, but as a joke. And now it’s equally hilarious and not hilarious at the same time.
Indeed they do. The only thing is the multicolored bricks - rainbows are ice symbolism. The ice moon is like a prison for a dragon - think Jon in the ice cells of the Wall, and the Winterfell dragon rumors. Ice moons in general are prisons like the Wolfs Den at WH or the Sept of Baelor. Since the dragons were imprisoned, this might actually be ice moon here. Dany too was kind of bound up until she flew out on a dragon
You have a charm about you. Pleasant gravely masculine voice. Progressive but not a preachy prick. And 420 friendly lol. Not to mention you are consistently discussing things I have not heard anywhere else. I am skeptical of some of your symbolism stuff but that's in large part because I'm ignorant of alot of it. You seem like a great guy. I'm gonna try to contribute to the channel when I'm not broke. I just recently found you because Alt Shift X mentioned you. I was surprised I had never heard of you considering how I'm a giga asoiaf nerd. Anyway cheers you degenerate Californian 😘
Another lightbulb: Barristan being a “good other” thinking of his men as the closest things he’d had for sons reminds me of the Others being sacrificed children/sons
Sir Psycho Sexy, yes,!!! My favorite bassist and one of my favorite RHCP songs, just got my girlfriend into it. Nice and dirty. Knew I liked your style..
One thought: if Hizdahr is innocent and does truly care for people, he might be a candidate who rules Meereen when Dany finally leaves for Westeros. He is a king already, he is from a noble house, and he knows his people and culture.
Had a theory, is it possible that there are two completely unrelated azor ahai because there are two lightbringers? so as you know dragons are metaphoric meteors. then you have the valyrian steel swords which are also metaphorical meteors. in each case both are portrayed as being the result of Azor x Nissa but what if this is a aspect of the "alchemical wedding" or to be more specific it's a magic equation or recipe and by making slight changes to the recipe people were getting drastically different but equivalent powerful results. Now what im thinking is the most important part isnt the result of the equation but the "sword" which is being forged. The first Azor Ahai was likely the bloodstone emperor and was likely not evil, i think he was practical and is closest in personality to maegor, I think the First's Sword was his literal seed which when mixed with that of his sister allowed the exact DNA to mix to produce a tameable dragon, this resulted in a situation exactly like Aerea which killed his Nissa. If true it means that Dragon Lords must have incredibly volatile DNA that requires it to be "mixed down" or else, which would explain them taking slaves from the four corners of essos, to produce as genetically distant young as possible to "slow" the metaphorical burn in their genepool which would be whittling their numbers, however because of shared descent from the empire of the dawn it was a losing battle. This may explain Aerea, who may have traveled to valyria only to get pregnant from a surviving dragon lord and die from it. The Second Azor would have likely used meteoric iron, which due to rare minerals what some of the strongest pre-modern steel, creating valyrian steel squared as it's a frozen iron crystal from space. That would mean that you are right, the ending cant be a violent conclusion because that would mean one Azor used his lightbringer sword to kill the lightbringer dragon when in all likelihood he made use of both, the ending is about correcting the initial wrong, perhaps although we are told differently, The second Azor couldn't and simply staved it off creating Valyria to help fight off the initially greater threat to mankind only to have it to become it's match. perhaps the first Azor committed multiple crimes Dragons, The Two magic trees, Blood Magic (which could've started off as magical crossbreeding) only for it to be remembered in generalizations. Perhaps the dragons are literal parallels to the Others as well, maybe dead dragon lords possess the bodies of dragons, hence their changing genders, and this was accomplished through the Weirwoods, maybe that was why Azor took them over. It makes sense especially when you consider how many targaryans think fire turns them into dragons maybe it does but only if there's a dragon body for them. it also explains the long night, it was the Empire of the Dawn deviating from it's initial values which involved causing magically induced catastrophes and continued with people assuming it ended at different times because they escaped EotD's influence at different times, with each "Azor" being the person who pulled them away, with the primary second being the valyrian one (who also used blood magic) hence confusing the two into one while having dozens of local variants who brought a end to their own long nights being absorbed in aswell due to "Interpretatio Romana".
This would imply that the two Azors had parallel physical and metaphorical Lightbringers which both went through the 3 steps. First Azor's Physical Lightbringers were children through marriage, attempting to make superior tool to improve his standing with water representing a foreign wife, lion represents a rival wife, and Nissa representing his sister this matching dany's three marriages possibly. His metaphorical Lightbringers could represent modes of power, Trade, Intrigue, War (or Magic). Second Azor's Physical would likely be the actual Swords the first sword breaking from water, while possible with iron is more likely Obsidian, which is very brittle and heat sensitive, the second being valyrian steel, and the third being Dawn. these would all be things that could kill wights and others, but would likely be ineffective on a mass scale, we don't know what separates a valyrian blade from a dawn blade yet but assuredly it involves the communication aspect of Glass Candles but requires a "Dragon Soul" to activate. These would require magic knowledge which explains why Valyria was so magically gifted so early. which brings me to second Azor's metaphorical Lightbringers (Tinfoil incoming) The Hightower and The Five Forts, The Night's Watch, and The foundation of Valyria. This would explain why there are certain inconsistencies on a tech level between the EotD and Valyria for instance, Valyria has more effective defensive technology namely dragonstone, hence their reliance on dragons and advanced war engines, while EotD was making simple black stone forts with complex traditional forts built on top which progressed into large blocky forts. Meanwhile the valyrians don't seem to have the meteor nuke magic or the ability to make dawn blades, presumably because they both require sacrifice and Azor took the knowledge with him to the grave. this would further explain shade of the evening, think about it, perhaps the original intention for it's intake was a attempt to distill the souls trapped inside to gain their forbidden knowledge, however what actually ends up happening is you get yourself a little possessed by a "Shade of the evening". shade being the greek term for blood drinking ghosts who dwell in the underworld, the evening being what happens between Dawn and Night. This is implied with it tasting like death, followed by everything you tasted ever, this isn't the drinker retasting things but the possessing spirit living vicariously through them before melding into their souls like a warg's second life presumably passing on a bit of the knowledge. This assumes that the Shade and Weirwood are related in some way, perhaps the shade is the result of some ritual being done to a weirwood. This explains why Euron is so dangerous, maybe he realized this due to his greenseer abilities and is trying to find the "Ur Weirwood" or Azor's Weirwood to drink that so he could "Shade" it and drink it to absorb his knowledge, but ends up crossing a line and becoming him, pulling him from the weirwood so he could be killed. If i'm correct this means that with the first Azor's second death would come the end of dragon riders as they'll become untamable without the dragon lord spirits in them. the "sweet" ending aspect could be the implication that Jon's children being both Targ and Warg could be the sole inheritors of the dragon lord legacy through dragon warging.

The people in the city saw dead bodies rain onto the city and afterwards a strange sickness spring up and fled the city. They spread it to other ports and so to the rest of Europe.
Thanks for the info, Sofie. Very interesting ✌🏻
I am so here for your video on Daenerys blows the horn. You know I've been putting forward that idea for years. Also, I believe that the dusky woman was sent to blow the horn. Whether she will get to or not is to be read in the future.
On my way out n this may be late buttt.....I'm behind on some things but Alt Shift shouted you out @ Lucifer means Lightbringer 🍻💨💨🕶💨💨👍also never behind Starry wisdom Sunday thanks for all u do to keep the intrest going n a creative and interactive way..n congrats on the Beyond Westeros link up too well deserved ty again for the hard work
this chapter reading and commentary format is really nice. I don't remember the exact line, but in the kingbreaker chapter I remember reading a line that made me think Hizzdar might be genuine.
There’s a few. Hizdahr might be neither guilty of Dany’s poisoning but also not innocent of being corrupt in other ways
Sooooo wholesome of you to call George out as your favourite artist!
Positive vibes to George. I love his work and know he's making huge break throughs this year!
Agreed! I love our little community and the vibes spread here!
Can't be stopped. I thank you for that and everything. By the way, I heard this american pronunciation of Adidas the first time in your stream and it took me a few seconds too :D
Love it
The opening of this chapter reminds me of Bran’s flying when he glimpsed other dreamers who flew but also fell. Makes Bran seem like Odin.
My 4 year old loves the Red Hot Chili Peppers! And I had your video on the tv and he flipped out when he saw he was matching with you! Haha he happened to be wearing that exact shirt 🙌🏽 love it!
Oh nice! Yeah it’s a classic RHCP design, glad it’s still around :)
@@DavidLightbringer oh I don’t know if it’s still around, like in production. I found it at Goodwill. Haha
But anyway, I like your videos! I haven’t read the books yet (I know, what am I doing?!), although I wish I could soon. Yet, I’m still learning a lot and absorbing as much as I can (for when I do get the chance to read them).
Great work and I love the room!
Being in Barristans perspective at this time is wild. So much is happening and all Barristan can do is what he knows best. Which of course is swing a sword and be bold.
Everyone’s always asking who is the harpy, never how is the harpy :(
Barristan better stay loyal to Daenerys. We don’t want to see him get lit tf up.
Great content, thanks for the insight into the chapter. Looking forward to the next one
Great stream! Definitely one of your best. I wish I could have caught it live. Positive Vibes..
(leaving that here, treading lightly)
Oh Joncon will ask to Barry to replace him.
great stream, looking forward to the rest of the chapters
Thank You LML for the stream🙏🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️🔥💙❤️🔥🙋🏼♀️🇨🇦
KoRn, Weed and, ASOIAF, the perfect stream.
Funny we say adidas wrong but in England they were saying Nike wrong... They say it like it should sound with that silent E.. Great stream man thank you for all the hard work you put in these.
The old knight speaking some fuckin truth about battle yo
These chapter reading are amazing.. I'd like to see more of these personally... plus I think the Green Grace is The Harpy
I think he'd do it for Ned 💗
Love your channel! From South Africa
Perhaps Ser Barristan Praying to the Stranger is what has caused his success as a warrior? Kinda like a bushido thing?
Holy cow, that's an awesome take, man!
@@andrzejkopalnia thanks
“it was the hour of the wolf, the longest, darkest hour of night.” interesting that it’s the hour of the wolf. feels like a pretty blatant long night/stark heroes call out
it's always Starkest before the Dawn
LML always bringing the top shelf insight
FR though this stream really solidified your moon meteor theory in my mind as a real heavyweight contender. Much respect, brother.
@Mitch.. the show gives us mirroring clues, while we wait. Definitely a good thing, it sets a stage for better fantasy shows/movies and a vaccine for the damage by Xena/Herc
Sending positive vibes to GRRM and writing comments for the algorithm 🙌🙌🙌
I btw have you to thank for us not getting an exotic bird, thank you thank you thank you. My wife wanted the exact type you have and i played her the clip where you say why not to get the bird and you saved me a lot of money and headache
I'm hoping Theon tWoW is next! That chapter is so intriguing.
Gonna do Tyrion next because it’s part of the same Meereen plot but we’ll get to Theon don’t worry
Tyrion has been reading a lot on Dragons. Too.
I think Barry is going to be the 'betrayal for love', and switch to Faegon and JonCon.
And I think TWoW will be released around the same time House of the Dragon airs. Whenever that is (early 2022?)
I think Cleo (spelling?) was geeking out at her reflection in one of your frames😂
Love the sir psycho sexy opening
LML: starts vid with bass riff
Me: LML might actually be the Fantano of game of thrones.
Sry for my english, it is not my native tounge
And I almost forgot: his main action in this chapter is encouraging his lads before battle, which is the heart of Gandalfs Power (he posesses the elven Ring of fire)
Oh shit you are totally and weirdly right about all of that!! Bizarre!
That's an awesome insight, 42. Baristan can't die before saying "Silver, show us the meaning of haste!".
I love Subway to Venus. I’ll need you (LML) to do a mythical astronomy analysis of that song, focusing on the horns.
Positive vibes love it!
Barristan is so lawful-good that he sometimes slips into "lawful-stupid" territory lol
" sittin on a sack of beansss, down in ole meeeereeean..."
Bricks don’t mix with politics!
He still wanted Drogon dead that’s enough for me to remove him as king. How else would you deal with someone who called for the death of one of the queens children?
Two swords...,you don't say.. like twin swords?😎 Well I hope there is only love between them.
Years ago I named a D&D character Adidas Zarmunimos, exactly the way you pronounced Adidas, but as a joke. And now it’s equally hilarious and not hilarious at the same time.
🤣🤣🤣
barriston the bold, we shall never see his like again.
Seeing how Meereen is similar to Dorne, is Meereen a fire moon symbol? The dragons break out of the pyramid after Quentyn-Ahai tries to ride them.
Hizdahr an icy night king too, what with Dany’s dream
Definitely can't hear the birds in the back ground. The new mic is working.
2024 here still hoping and pushing for those positive vibes 1:22:00
LmL in 2021: TWoW release date will be announced any day now
me, watching this in march 2023: lol
Freaky Styley
The man, the legend. Ser Barristan Selmy! Love is pov
Honestly it is funny, me and my bro thought, when watching the show , that harpies being funded by Lannisters to undermine Dany and delay her 😂
In SA we have German influence in our language. We also say Adidas as in Europe.
did u mention behold a pale white horse as in the conspiracy book.. thats one of my favorites that was one of the first conspiracy books i ever ready.
Barry, Widower, Jokin, Grey Worm= Rhaegar, Aegon (Griff), Aegon (Jaqen), Aegon (Jon)
I know you don't believe me yet. Jokin a red dragon dawn.
One thought: if Hizdahr is innocent and does truly care for people, he might be a candidate who rules Meereen when Dany finally leaves for Westeros. He is a king already, he is from a noble house, and he knows his people and culture.
Second favorite character after Stannis
Not bad idea that the wildlings are getting paralleled by Daenerys force of misfits
Had the video open as a picture-in-picture and I thought that the Barristan picture at the beginning had Juggalo facepaint.
mike caprodi i think his name was or sounded like that barry is my favorite. thats how gandalf was suposed to look in movies. minus armor
I think Hizzdar is a pawn of the Green Grace. I think He wants to do good and has no idea he is a pawn.
lml cult leader thinking WoW would come that xmas :D
I think whether or not Hizdar is the harpy, it was a mistake for ol Barry to arrest him. Not the best timing
one can make that argument
