You, Me & the RV
I installed two of these at the FMCA rally in Gillette last year, and we love them.
That was truly one of the best upgrades I ever made to my Mercedes-Benz Sprinter based RV (a Tiffin Wayfarer 24BW). Wife and I couldn't hear the TV even with the volume cranked up to the max before installing this device. After the install we could not only hear the TV at normal volume levels but could talk with each other without raising our voices. It's a great product!
Best...
We agree 100%. The difference was amazing!
I want to thank you for putting up this video. When we saw it we instantly bought one from Amazon and installed it today which is 2 days later. We pulled up your video a couple times to make sure we did it right. You were right the instructions really sucked. With you making videos like this it sure makes our life easier. We full-time and are off-grid with 3,200 Watts but we have to have 20 days in campgrounds when we see our children in the city. It was a very loud 20 days with the air in the south. This should make it much easier when we leave in 2 weeks to go to North Carolina. Thank you again.
Glad it was helpful! Have fun!
Ya gotta love the smoke detector/CO detecctor located almost on top of the AC unit where air is forced by, reducing the cabability of the dectector.
Or increasing it because contaminated air is getting to it quicker....
Because of your video I ordered one and installed it today in my GD MK 2670 today. I figured I could do it after watching your video. It is working as advertised. TV volume on 60 vs 100 before
Very nice addition the sound difference is amazing! Great modification.
Just installed ours wow what a difference.
Good camera work! 👍
Installed three of these about a year ago; love them as well! Much improved.
That is amazing the difference it made in the sound. Great video
Another video saved for our next rig...thanks
Good job guys!
Loved this video! Will definitely be putting this in our Winnebago View! Have already done it in our Keystone Toyhauler. Much much better airflow & yes quieter! I don’t t understand why the manufacturers don’t tape over all of those holes. We had SO much air leaking. We were losing so much cool air!!!
Thanks for reminding us to take care of this
in our “Little Mo!” ❤️👍😁
Awesome! Thank you!
Seems like a good mod. Anything that'll make the a/c more efficient and quieter is a plus.
Although, after 49 years of marriage, I'm certain I don't want my wife hearing everything I say ! LOL
I'm certain y'all will be happy with this mod.
God bless y'all and stay safe on the road.
LOL
Never even heard of this. Thanks for sharing! Looks like an easy install. Thanks again!
Youre welcome!
Fun little upgrade.
Great informative video. Thank you
Hi guys. Watched your video, then later that night, while watching TV, saw a commercial about a mattress, and the lady was doing the same moves as you or were doing the same moves as her. Lol had to share.😅 safe travels
That is awesome! Did Stacy pull it off?
Interesting video. Thank you for sharing
At least y’all make the advertisements entertaining haha
Yay! I am glad you liked it. I wanted to shake it up and not be so boring and ordinary!
@@todayissomeday It was awesome!
Were you installing that in Ruby? The storage towards the front looked like it was the 24T you were in. We have a 2014 33aa.
And why are the manufacturers not already doing this ?
Because they can save $2 a unit and do whatever they can to cut corners and save costs
Because they don’t have to and would add cost.
Manufacturers are Too Cheap
Would love if you guys could get a decibel reader and do a before and after. Or at least show the before sound and after sound in an upcoming video so we could hear the difference back-to-back. I've never head of this brand of silencer before, just the RV Air Flow ones, so this was an interesting video.
The problem is the decibel reader wont tell the whole story although the app we used showed a huge decrease (90% decibel decrease but not sure how good the app really is). This modification also decreases frequency which makes a huge difference on the sound you hear. That can not be measured on the decibel reader.
It is well worth the one time purchase!
Great video! Will research this further. Looks like the coupon knocks of $10 not 10%, just fyi. Unless my copy/paste goofed up somehow. :) Always love your content!
A $250,000. RV and you still have to install this. Crazy ! But well worth it.
It is well worth it for sure.
Thinking about full-time rving. You can't have a pobox on your license how do you get a addRess if you don't have a home base?
We use Escapees out of Livingston, TX. It is our domicile. A lot of fulltime RV'ers use them.
Serious question. In the master bedroom vent hood we removed it to find the ac ducts open and spilling air around the sky light vent area. We used thermal foam and tape to block it. It gaves us increased air to the two vents above the master bed. Was this a good move?
It is hard to say without know the system you have. However, if it works and you are getting good air flow that cools the room....sure.
This silencer is selling for $249 on Amazon. Another example of a company taking advantage of having "RV" in it's product description. This is a $20 piece of plastic and foam at most. Not that I wouldn't want one, but refuse to get ripped off just because I own an RV. It basically covers the intake and pulls air from opposite side making it quieter. Hopefully someone will make a more affordable version.
Do you mind sharing why you downsized now that you have had your smaller tv for awhile. Thanks again
We were just exploring the idea of a smaller RV for short trips and helping Winnebago get the word out on one of there new models. We are back in our 35 footer now.
I’m going to look into getting this. I recently pulled my cover off to check the tape work and it was a disaster. Holes everywhere and they taped right over both ducts that feed the small roof vents. Explains why my AC only worked when dumping straight out of the cover. I fixed the tape up and it cools unbelievably well now. Just too noisy.
Phil said today I woke up grumpy tomorrow I'll let her sleep!🤣
😂
What does it do for increased air flow to the ducts?
it pushed more air through the duct work.
Hopefully the air is still flowing as before?
They work great, especially if you can seal up the discharge side to the ductwork to avoid leaking into the ceiling. Plus is no longer leaks some air out the dumps when they are closed, so 100% of the cold air it pushed to the ducts.
Foil tape my HVAC hubby said
We got tongue tied...you are correct.
Definite change in noise level, did the change affect any cooling capabilities? How can you use your AC ducts, or does the installation prevent you from using them?
I made it cooler faster we think. Not issues with the unit pushing air through the ducts.
We called foil tape when I was working heat and air .
That's what I meant to say.
What about RV's that have a ducted system that doesn't have this?
Like in our RV...we have a ducted unit and can not use this.
They only work on individual A/C’s in each room. They don’t work on the racetrack A/C system.
This was a ducted, racetrack system.
@@todayissomedayThis doesn’t work on the Riverstone’s . All we have is the round vents. If it worked with it I might have bought them.
I thought you were just testing it?
We were. But we had to live in it for 6 weeks. The silencer was well worth installing.
$209 for plastic? I'll get used to the noise.
I said the same thing....until I couldn't take it any longer.
But is the install "Phil Proof", sorry..I know you can do it...
Almost! LOL
KUTGW
No excuse’s Phil for not listening.
I can’t hear you, what did you say honey?
No more Ruby
We still have Ruby. In fact we moved back into her last weekend.
Over $200....Bull crap
The sound difference was amazing though. Much more tolerable level for everything done indoors.
Not for ducted systems.
From the manufacturer's webpage "Our silencer is compatible with Dometic, Coleman, and GE ducted systems, typically identified by round vents in the ceiling."
They seem to have a ducted system. I see the ducts.
Our Jayco 29MV is ducted, and it works great. Quieter and better air flow.
It only works on ducted systems as there is no output option for this product. The entire premise of how it handles return air engates any ability to "dump" the conditioned air.
This is a ducted unit we installed it on.
