Voltage is very important on the HWH. Run the engine get the voltage up. Also, when you pushed you side button while the jacks were going up, it shut off the jacks power and that will need to be reset. One more thing, add a small amount, very small amount of WD-40 to the Jack stem, very light wipe once a week or so. They will go up much faster. That was a tip HWH gave me back in 2012 for my 07 Ellipse.
I was informed by a Tiffin Tech that you should not use WD 40 as it could attract dirt. He recommends T9, which is what I have used for over a year. Depending on how many times you put the jacks up and down and with being FT RVers, they should be lubercated once a month. Phil & Stacy thanks for all your viedos and useful information. I'd be interested in what you discover from your research as I have the same Jack system.
This is crazy! We have followed you guys for years, while watching this video we realized we checked in to that same harvest host the afternoon you left. My wife was actually wearing her “Coffee, Campfires and Cocktails” T-shirt that day. Would have loved to have bought you both a beer. We learn a lot from your videos. Maybe someday. Safe travels.
I have found out from Tiffin ,that if your jacks don’t want to come up, spray the leg with WD40. I did this and the problem went away. Hope to do a meet up soon. We love your videos. Safe travels. PS I suggest when you plan to go to Alaska, you go with Fantasy Tours. We did in 22 and loved it. Dave& Deb
Another good segment thanks again. It happened at the last park we were at. Not completing our rv check list. We got ready to leave and the rv would not roll. I accelerated, heard a weird noise. Then realized I had not put up the jack's. Of course it taught us to stick with check list and you guys taught us not to trust the auto lift indicator alone. My husband will manually check those jacks from now on. In the meantime the jacks seem to be ok.
Don't know how you guys keep the RV so clean all the time being on the road. Phil dumping the tanks reminds me of when I was at Whidbey, a neighbor stayed at a campground by Deception Pass. Tanks weren't draining right. So I took a look. His hose when down the pipe. So in my infinite wisdom, I pulled out about 10' of stuck hose. That's when you realize that about 3 other levels up off poop pipe let go and came out where I was. It was a very shitty deal for sure.
Had a DEF tank heater failure last week in fairly moderate temps. While having the issue repaired, the tach said he was going to perform a regeneration to the system. He indicated the engine should be hooked up to the specific software to check the need for regen every couple oil changes. With 24000 miles on our 6.7 Powerstroke we were at 75 percent. If you allow the system to exceed 100 percent sometimes the DEF tank needs to be removed for deeper service. Never heard of this before so have your tech check for regeneration needs. Heater function repair was a grand. Removing the tank to perform deeper service would probably add another $500-$1000 Merry Christmas and happy RVing
My Tiffin bus had a lift stick lifted. Nothing worked to fix it. I finally went back to the control and wire harness connection. Un-clipped the harness and looked at connections are clean and etc. Then pushed the connection back together. Bang all 4 jacks stored since then. It shakes down the road until the next wire is bounced loss again
Nice RV facts. Thanks for sharing. I haven't had a problem with my jacks, but I always worry about them working properly. I won't move the coach until I actually see that all the jacks are fully up.
Oh my gosh! Just asked you about Potter's Creek for our upcoming TX trip and then you were at Bandera Brewery in this one! That's where we plan to go after Potter's Creek. You're making us feel much better about our trip plans. Thanks for sharing! Heading to Fredericksburg too? We're going there for the Pacific War Museum. Glad the levelers finally worked- I hate that sick feeling when things malfunction. We had trouble with ours and went to Chuck at Stuart's in Elkhart. They specialize in HWH levelers and do great work.
Our Phaeton blew a hydraulic line and the front slide would still go in and out but the jacks would not go down. The line had to be replaced. Thankfully we were on our way to Red Bay when this happened and it was fixed in the Tiffin Service Bay.
It's *so* frustrating when we have problems like that. Seeing that it can be just as bad for more seasoned RVers makes me feel less stressed about my own troubles. We had an issue today with water flow, and while we never actually figured it out, it resolved itself. It's always something! So we're a full decade older than the average RV owner, but we use our rig 13 times as much. At some point, we intend to put together a single "trip" in RV Trip Wizard, to track all of our movements, but until then, we don't really know how many miles we've towed this monster.
A few years ago, we had an O-Ring let go in our Georgetown Class A, and we couldn't retract the jacks. We had a mobile tech meet us the next morning and we escorted him on base to Desert Eagle (at Nellis AFB) and he found it was a $0.43 O-ring that had split. We were glad DEFC was able to accommodate our delay since we couldn't move the rig. We were back on the road, a day late and $160- short.
Thank you for sticking with the Broncos, our QB Just can’t the team working together… Alias Firehawk from Colorado. We have been living here on and off since 1995.
I've had two separate problems with my HWH leveling Jack's. First time was a failed master relay solenoid. I diagnosed and fixed that one. Second one was my keypad went bad. The system had a mind of its own. Everytime I tried to use it it did something different and weird. Drove it to Moscow, IA and the boys at HWH took care of it. Got a new MIOM module for free because they misdiagnosed it initially. I tried to tell them I suspected the keypad.
We have a 40 foot Montana 5th wheel ! And I just had this problem but mine was opposite I pushed auto level and the RV pulled all 6 jacks up.... Thank god I had a tripod under the tunge or we would have been sitting on the ground with our front end ! It ended up being a bad solenoid ! Fixed now !
The best solution to the DEF issue is buy an older rv. I traded off my 2016 Palazzo for a 2010 Tiffin and was happy that I dont have to worry about the DEF issue. Engine runs strong , clean, and smooth.
Not the same as your problem, but maybe help some viewer. I had a jack issue and of course, it was in the middle of nowhere. My jacks refused to retract. As you know, the transmission won't go into gear with the jacks down, so I was stuck. After running around I discovered if I "aired up" and put wood blocks under the jacks, then "dumped the air" it pushed the jacks up. Later, at the service center, they asked, "How often do you wipe the shaft with Silicone?" What? Huh?. They raised my MH until the rear wheels were 4" off the ground!!! (OMG!) and gave the shafts a good cleaning and spray. No more problems!
I was on a commercial flight one time on one of those high wing two engine jobs. I had the first passenger seat on the door side on the aisle. The pilots were about 6' in front of me. They were having some type of computer problem so I says "Did you do ctrl/alt/delete?" Got a big smile from the pilot :)
Soon to be a newbie. Thank you both for sharing your issues with the RV, we have learned so much from watching your videos. Phil, Stacy Best wishes have a Merry Christmas. stay safe God Bless. looking forward meeting you at the Tampa show.
I'm glad that you're not having too many problems with your RV and I'm glad your checks are working now here's the tip that helps me you know you're slide out that you have use the slide-out Grease on your jacks and I still use it on my slide outs I clean them every two weeks I check to make sure they work because one thing that stinks a jack does not go down or your slide out won't go out so make sure you clean them check them regularly and use that slack Grease cuz it really works well
Mine gets used a decent amount but that's because my whole family uses it my 3 kids/adults use it with my grandkids 7 weeks out of the year and we use it 4 weeks out of the year I worry when my daughter and youngest son take it because they are not to RV mechanical but myself and my oldest boy we can fix anything. I have had it for ten years now and have had only 2 problems: a black tank cable and my AC would not fire up but I found the problem in 15 minutes at zero cost, so I am blessed. I love my Keystone Vantage 4 bunks queen bed on the sofa and a queen bed in the front it is the perfect camper for a family of 5 and 2 friends I wouldn't even let our dog sleep on the dinette so I took it out and made a breakfast bar with 3 computer screens and it gave us an extra foot of the runway. In 4 years if I can find the right Country Coach ALLURE at like 32' 400 Cummins I will just give the vantage to the kids. And say see you in 2 years.
Great video! I didn't notice any problem with the quality. So sorry you had all those troubles, but as usual you handled them the best that you could! I have been to the Biltmore a few times at Christmas and love, love, love it! This year though, we went to the Omni Park Grove Inn (the day after Christmas). The buffet at the Blue Ridge restaurant was fabulous and then we took in the fabulous Gingerbread competition, oh my goodness!! I highly recommend you try that next year for their anniversary. If you want to check it out, reservations are required from Dec 23rd-Jan 1st at either the resort ($$$$$) or one of their restaurants. Wishing you a wonderful New Year, blessed with joy, health and happy (and safe) travels!! Thanks for another year of great RV trips and advice! Hopefully will run into you at the Tampa show.
Our jacks wouldn’t come up and had to manually raise them. Thanks to UA-cam I was able to figure out a flag breaker had tripped in the battery bay. Reset and all was well.
I had the same scare with my jacks last year; difference was my control panel accurately reflected they were down but the panel was completely unresponsive. I ended up forcing them up by flipping the solenoid levers which should probably be a last resort but it worked! The shop couldn't duplicate the problem and they tried to tell me that I was doing it wrong with the engine running. I know some coaches may have that restriction but mine doesn't. They subsequently had intermittent problems but not since I changed the hydraulic fluid.
Unfortunately less chains are participating on Jan 1. I will still use it. The year before our coach, Blue Bird deleted the double sided fuel tank fill. We can only fill on the passenger side, That's usually the 'dumb' pump. Took me a second to figure out how to work that pump. We have the same jack system. Had to reset it a few times last year. Last ditch they do have a pressure release button
One thing to watch out for is running either the pump or the solenoid valves too long. A few minutes for the pump and then you need to let it cool down. The solenoid valves run when you hit store (for up to 20 minutes when the jack down warning lights stay lit). Hitting store multiple times can overheat them. I learned about overheating the hard way. I ran my jacks up and down a few times putting blocks under tires etc trying to get level. Then the leveling system quit responding. I checked and the pump was very hot. Next day leveling was still unresponsive but I ran one slide in and out a bit which proved the pump was working. A bit later (key off/on a few times) I got it working but to this day the leveling is a bit twitchy. As for manually releasing the jacks. I haven't tested but I have an HWH diagram (from manual came with rig) which indicates the jack solenoids are on the back side (opposite the pump) with the 2 outside (big ones) for the rear jacks and the 2 small ones at the bottom are for the front jacks. I have a 2019 RED 37BA which I would expect to be similar to your rig. Good luck with the jack issue.
Crazy facts ! Average 48. I am 84. !! Typical miles ? We do more. Days on road? We have been out about 46 days this year --- and we own 2 homes (MI & FL). I know we are different. 😃
I have read and tried a reset for the leveling &slide…. Cycle the key on and off 3 times, or for master reset, turn off batteries with the disconnects and wait a bit and turn back on… Solved my issue once…
Buc-ee’s is the best! We can’t pass by them either and the pulled brisket is the way to go. We’re on the road tomorrow and will hit the one in Warner Robins GA.
When these new systems come in for diesel engines, it was nothing but a huge headache. I was making not bad money until I bought a truck with a regen systems almost broke me. So I traded for a newer truck with the Def system as well. I lost 135000 bucks in 2 years of ownership. So that said I will never buy anything newer than a 2007 diesel powered rv.
I enjoy how you show problems that pop up it happens 99% of other RVer’s never show they have problems keep showing the sad part of RVing because it does happen but I enjoy all ur vids.
We recognized the brewery from the initial scene as we stayed there a few nights ago on our way to Carlsbad. Did you try the pepper beer, Alter Ego? YUM!!!
Our jacks have not gone down twice and cycling them and the rig on and off was the only thing that worked. Once when we were backing in the alarm for jacks down went off and I thought he was going to crash it hurt his ears so bad.
Mechanical issues can be frustrating. It doesn't matter what style of rv you have. But, as long as you stay calm, cool, and collected, and don't let the glitch goonies to get your undies wadded, you can generally figure out what your rig is trying to tell you. And if you're still dazed and confused, Google It or you can make a post in your rig-specific FB group and then hope someone else has had similar situations and can give suggestions you may not think about to resolve the issue.
Enjoyed the RV facts and show us around at the harvest host. I hope you let us know what the problem with your leveling jacks was. Merry Christmas and yall be safe
I hate Tiffin jacks. I never had any issues with the jacks on my Palazzo. They are power up and power down and work fast. The tiffin is super slow coming up and yes I always visually check to see they are up as I dont trust the system. I recently got a message from Open Roads stating that the only truck stop my card is going to work at is the T/A. Loves never was a very good discount anyway.
Hey Hate to tell you but I know of at least 2 RV's that were $5m plus even 2 that where $7m There out there just not reported I know the one owner and it a pricey one. the base RV was $2.7M then add interior stuff high end. and Solar, Communications. That Microsoft Guy had one for $7m off road RV. I think $500K is the limit any one should spend on a RV. There are plenty of used RV's that are cheap and good.
Hydraulic fluid is very viscous and does Not like the cold, at all. Just drove back from MS and the warning bell on the hydraulic system screamed at me for 3 hours until the outside temp got above 50 degrees. We don't have auto-level but I think I prefer the manual system, because if the auto level malfunctions going down the road - that's terrifying.
QUESTION: why do you even put down your levelers when you are on level ground? I don't. I am the old, now 84 y/o guy still Rving in our 2001 40 ft Monaco diesel, now with 140,000 miles on it. I don't use my levelers at all anymore. They work, but I have found I can generally put a 2x12 under one set of wheels and be level. Also, I put in an Amish Aire back on my fridge... so no more precise leveling even needed. I also find my 2 ft long 2 x 12's disperse my weight better than the pads you have on your levelers. Just my ways.
Get some Fork Oil and you should keep a few backup Solenoids for the Jacks they go in pairs hate to say when they go. I clean my jacks regularly with Silicon spray. Aren't RV's fun lol.
Good afternoon folks. Thanks for another great video. Always look forward to and enjoy yall's videos. Enjoyed your RV facts, nice addition. Hope you get your jack issues resolved. My thoughts were, if you did a reset should be good, didn't seem to work that way. Mechanically sounded like they worked ok, that's why I thought reset would work. What happened to those mid shipmen ? A whole year before they can try for retribution. Good travels guys. Stay safe and hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a blessed Christmas. God bless and ya'll have a blessed day.
Thank you, Brian. We are sitting for a bit and will troubleshoot and update accordingly. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too you and your family as well!
Tell me about the Door handle rod you installed. I found that pulling the door closed was a problem so I bought one of those shower suction cups handles and installed it on the door window. However, the Florida heat disintegrates the suction over a few months and I have to keep replacing it. I see that you installed some type of rod!
My tiffin did this. You have to hold down the power button for 10-30 seconds to reset the system. My jacks got stuck in the mud and wouldn’t come up and it had a mind of its own after that. So I reset and boom good to go
@@todayissomeday I believe it was the auto level button on the top left you hold for 15 seconds and it resets the whole system. My jacks were stuck in the mud and the buttons did nothing at all. I turned the coach off held down the auto level button for 15-30 seconds it started beeping and came up and never had another problem. 2017 tiffin allegro bus 37ap. I’m in a cornerstone now and miss my tiffin to be honest, cornerstone rides way better but wow it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions if u know what I mean. Call tiffin to get more info if u need but that’s what they instructed me to do on the hwh leveling system I believe it was.
@@todayissomeday please do. Since we own the same model coach, we are seriously interested in what the issue was. And as I recall, a couple of years ago you released a video in which your jacks initially wouldn’t store.
Do you all always get your DEF from the stations when refilling? Or do you cary some with you and top off that way as well? I know it has a shelf life of 8-12 months I think? Thoughts on that? Thanks!
We carried some around for our first year but never needed it. So we dont any longer. Although, we did d purchase it once from a station when we were in the middle of nowhere.
I had a leveler problem one time. It turned out I had pushed the emergency break, required, but I pushed to hard and it would not do anything, up or down. The switch on the break peddle was pressed so it did not sense it working properly.
Hey if you ever get to Pennsylvania in Morgantown pa it’s called the auto mall the largest classic car place they sell cars but have lots of neat stuff not for sale make sure you hide the credit card from phil they have the 1925 Chevy motor home . I think you need to buy phil a hard hat for Christmas so he doesn’t hit his head on the slides ! Lol Happy holidays!!!!
Fun fact the first "RVers" did it in covered wagons. You guys are keeping the history of the great American covered wagon family trips alive. Be safe.
Here's an RV fact, when you are having big problems, RV facts don't matter somuch anymore. Feeling that one Phil. Great episode as always

Later, at the service center, they asked, "How often do you wipe the shaft with Silicone?" What? Huh?. They raised my MH until the rear wheels were 4" off the ground!!! (OMG!) and gave the shafts a good cleaning and spray. No more problems!
Love the RV facts...so entertaining! Throw a few facts into each video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Merry Christmas. Have safe travels.
Like they say at the Tech support line " un-plug it wait five minutes and plug it back in. Now hit ctrl Alt Delete!🤣
Our pleasure!
I'm glad that you're not having too many problems with your RV and I'm glad your checks are working now here's the tip that helps me you know you're slide out that you have use the slide-out Grease on your jacks and I still use it on my slide outs I clean them every two weeks I check to make sure they work because one thing that stinks a jack does not go down or your slide out won't go out so make sure you clean them check them regularly and use that slack Grease cuz it really works well
we were there un June, really nice camp site 73. it was scorching hot
Loved the RV facts. Hope you guys get your leveling system taken care of.
Love my Open Roads card.
When we were transporting RVs I always hated those jacks. What a pain! Many cuss words were said!
Great video and RV facts, safe travels
Thanks, you too!
Phil and Stacy it could be a circuit ground issue for the jacks or corrosion on the wire causing improper voltage to that solenoid
Our jacks wouldn’t come up and had to manually raise them. Thanks to UA-cam I was able to figure out a flag breaker had tripped in the battery bay. Reset and all was well.
Phew, glad to hear it was just the RV jacks that couldn’t come up Lol 😂
Now that is funny!!!!
Thanks so much for sharing .
Bandero, Tx. Such a neat place! The first time I saw it, I expected to see John Wayne to be walking down the street!
Fun video today 🤙🤙 / thanks for taking the time to entertain us!!
Crazy facts !
Average 48. I am 84. !!
Typical miles ? We do more.
Days on road?
We have been out about 46 days this year --- and we own 2 homes (MI & FL). I know we are different. 😃
That is awesome!
Phill, what-a-we gonna do with our Bronco's! Better rebuild this off season big time!
Start from scratch!!! SMH......
We have a heavy fith wheel and tow with a Semi. Bucees will hot let us on their property. Down right rude.
Can I ask what video to find where you talk about problems with your DEF. I’m having issues and want to check it out!
Thanks for sharing
When these new systems come in for diesel engines, it was nothing but a huge headache. I was making not bad money until I bought a truck with a regen systems almost broke me. So I traded for a newer truck with the Def system as well. I lost 135000 bucks in 2 years of ownership. So that said I will never buy anything newer than a 2007 diesel powered rv.
I enjoy how you show problems that pop up it happens 99% of other RVer’s never show they have problems keep showing the sad part of RVing because it does happen but I enjoy all ur vids.
It is a part of the lifestyle!
We recognized the brewery from the initial scene as we stayed there a few nights ago on our way to Carlsbad.
Did you try the pepper beer, Alter Ego? YUM!!!
No, I missed that one.
We will. We are sitting for a bit, so we will troubleshoot and update accordingly.
Escapees has a fuel discount program similar to TSD and covers both gasoline and diesel! I have both.
I was wondering, how do you find parking for Rubby when you go to attractions such as the Alamo etc?
We dont take her to those types of venues. We would park Ruby at a campground and drive in to places such as the alamo.
@@todayissomeday Thanks for replying.
We are headed to Texas this week!
If you had it to do all over again would you still get a diesel pusher?
100% yes! Driving through the mountains is so much easier!!
LOL.... I think you meant to say is 2021 not 2001..... All of us UA-camrs make mistakes from time to time.... Stay safe and have fun!!!!!
I travel very minimal via a Motorycle and a Tent .. 50 MPG
Love your videos haven’t seen Gismo in a while is he ok?
Ouch reality of RV life 😢 Safe Travels guy's ❤🤍💙
Great idea. HWH says to clean the jack cylinders with WD-40 only.
Just had that problem. Press cancel. Pull up the jacks using the arrows. Did you set the parking brake.
Yes, to all of the above.
2001? Or should it be 2021? We also have had jack problems, not fun.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too you and your family as well!
not heard u say anything about that fanrastic game when ARNY beat navy haha
Its in our next video. Although we are still #gonavy!
Hey Farley's....quick ?....Do you have to exercise a diesel genny like you have to with a Gas genny?
YES!! You can get all the details here: todayissomeday.net/blog/generator
Did you get your jacks fixed? Did it cost an arm or a leg? Or both?
We are sitting for a bit and will troubleshoot and update accordingly.
Do you guys ever use your points on fuel for free showers? We do and it's great while traveling between destinations.
No, we bring our shower with us so we just stick with that one.
Tell me about the Door handle rod you installed. I found that pulling the door closed was a problem so I bought one of those shower suction cups handles and installed it on the door window. However, the Florida heat disintegrates the suction over a few months and I have to keep replacing it. I see that you installed some type of rod!
We have it here on one of our gear pages: todayissomeday.net/gear-essential-rv-tools-and-supplies
My tiffin did this. You have to hold down the power button for 10-30 seconds to reset the system. My jacks got stuck in the mud and wouldn’t come up and it had a mind of its own after that. So I reset and boom good to go
Where is the Power button to cause the RESET? On Phil and Stacy's display (and mine), there is a CANCEL button - is this AKA Power button?
What Power button are you talking about? My HWH system doesnt have a power button
Ours doesn't have a on/off button.
@@RBELL1128 I believe it’s the auto level button. Top left if I remember. You hold for 15-30 seconds and it resets the system.
Ok you have to silence that alarm, our dog is freaking out 😢
Hey Phil, very interested in what the issue was with the auto lever system and how you resolved the problem
We are sitting for a bit. We will update once we get it ironed out.
I look forward to my firstvisit to a Buck-ey's store. By the way, I plan on meeting you in January in Tampa 2025!
Usually it is a bad ground connection. I have a similar system.
Good luck on finding your problem.
Texas Law, you stop at Buckies, yes
Phil I just took my son to his first broncos game, and they won!!
LOVE this!! Finally!!! A win is a win!!! Hopefully, he enjoyed the game and stadium!!!
@@todayissomeday it was good until some behind us puked….ruined the whole experience. But overall was fun.
