Suzuki Baleno Review - The Swift’s More Sensible Sibling - Car Keys

- Serving as a more sensible sibling to the Swift, the Suzuki Baleno aims to appeal to those who want a compact, practical car that’s not entirely lacking in zest.
With the Baleno, Suzuki takes something of a Goldilocks approach. It’s not the biggest car of its type, nor is it the smallest but it still packs plenty of space and equipment.
Likewise, while some people buy cars based on emotional appeal alone and others choose them for more rational reasons, the Baleno aims to bridge the gap. In short, it’s a car that you’ll buy for practical reasons, but that you’ll enjoy driving too.
In this review, we take an in-depth look at the interior of the Suzuki Baleno including its boot size, dashboard and back seats. We then run through performance, price and finish up with the all-important verdict - is the Suzuki Baleno a good car?

Why on earth are car review folks obsessed with soft plastics? I mean does anybody else care? Plastics hard or soft are not something I jump in the car and have to start touching!
absolutely thrilled with my Baleno, more than I thought, especially for the pricepoint.
after driving 6 month I have to say smoothest car in mid segment. and u get benefit like better mileage, good ride quality, low maintenance, spacious, good looks and not complicated interior with lots of button so its also a nice canvas for a car modification lover
Is the Nissan note good?
My past two cars were swifts and I changed to the baleno last year, it is more practical and much more space. To be honest I don’t notice much difference in the drive apart from cornering which the swift was brilliant at. The space inside the baleno easily makes up for this and the overall drive is great. Yes the dash is bland but you can’t expect rolls Royce quality for the price.
How's the baleno going any complaints
I like the tubo power..!Wish suzuki offered a sport version like did in swift.
Reciently bought one Great car which I enjoy driving
How's the build quality?
Very good car! Nice rewiew. Well done!
I like the interior and front but not keen on the back. As for quality - who goes around feeling dash plastics? As for sounding tinny - nothing will fall off as it's a Suzuki!
Thanks for your input Samuel! We agree, although a lot of people do judge an interior on the plastics, often complaining of "cheap, scratchy" plastics. Do you prefer this to the Swift?
Car Keys UK My Mom owned the current Swift and it was a great car. Only problem was how cramped it is.
Personally, I'd have the Baleno as the interior is nicer, it's bigger and its safety tech is excellent and not available on the Swift. I wouldn't buy a new car without AEB fitted either as standard or as an option.
I'm thinking of buying one of these. I'm continually surprised by reviewers' opinion of its looks. To my eyes it's one of the best lookers of the superminis. The Swift has a weird rear end profile, as do some other superminis, the Baleno has a lovely smooth streamlined looking rear profile. Many rear end profiles chop off the upper half of the rear, thereby reducing boot space. Reckon I'll go for one. I'm always suspicious when a reviewer says they didn't get the mpg stated. I've noticed all drivers I've ridden with do not drive economically. Instead of taking their foot off the accelerator when approaching a corner or junction they keep it on till the last second and then slam on the brakes, then accelerate hard, they tailgate, which requires much braking, they even accelerate when going down hill. This will all increase mpg. Anyway, thanks for review.
I agree it looks good. I saw on from photos and when I went to see it from close it looked even better.
yes. i booked it and excited to get it shortly
Cool Parth, enjoy, let us know what you think of it 👍
sure
@@retrodestiny - any feedback that you can share please?
What I have to say? I like it and I would trust it.
I love mine 1 litre booster jet pulls really well 😊
How good or bad is it on oil consumption ? Is there any reports of them like the Toyota using excessive oil?
@@gtibruce had ours for 3 yrs just keep up maintainance
I have a 1.2 Dualjet, and it is brilliant! But I think Suzuki has got it wrong pushing the turbo model. If, as they say, it is aimed at people like me- grownup people long past the boy racer stage, we want a reliable, value for money car with decent performance. We do not want a car that goes like a bat out of hell, especially with speed traps everywhere. Besides, the writing is on the wall for Turbos. The future is the electric hybred.
Alan Raven does passenger seat have height adjustment? Thanks
@@jamesinbradford5882 No, but it does not need it unless you are extra tall.
Am waiting zeta model Baleno 😊
Please when showing the back seats can you also show if the floor is flat or if there is that hump on the floor interrupting the middle person.
Suzuki should offer Soft Touch materials and Apple Car Play and Android Auto on the Baleno Range
Phone compatibility would have been a major plus point for this Jamie you're right.
Mine has both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard 👍🏻
bollox to soft touch materials I say
baleno or i20 which one is good
Thoughts on reliability and safety? It has not been safety rated in Australia...
So its 50 mpg round town ànd up to 67mpg on a long run😊
2:04, by that sound you can guess its quality is not great
what's the type? GL 1400 cc or GLX 1000 cc turbo?
4:31 uguly badge...! Indian baleno has the prettier one.
Its got various sensors on the front badge... only high-end suzuki's have that's why.
But indian baleno has ugly alloy wheels compare to this. That's more depressing.
Mind Blastic they do try and cut costs for India... Can't you upgrade to bigger and better alloys
can you please tell which is that wheel cup
where is it made?
From what we can find, this is assembled in India.
and sadly we Get 2 Airbags only
BritishRacingGreen india

@@garynewey6985 how 's the car now dude
Why this company is not launching shvs in India?
Better known as eastern European suzuki.
This car has been canncelled and my
2 cent is that he was competimg with cars like Polo and Fiesta. Also Suzuki buyers prefered Swift or Ignis. So in my opinion this car should have been designed as B segment car.
Looks like Rover 25 for 2018! 😂
no
You should have gone to Specsavers
Hybrid
