Nice one Paul. You mentioned old fashioned shaving, reminds me of my granda (84) who has been shaving his whole life with whatever bar of handsoap was in the bathroom. As a wee treat recently I bought him a tub of TOBS Almond and he can't believe how luxurious the texture and scent is, he actually looks forward to shaving! As he says, "I just dip the brush in, and I look like Santa". He's getting great shaves now and loves it.

Paul, I love how you apologize for talking rubbish, but don't ever stop. Your personality and sense of good fun makes me come back again and again.
Here in the States we're lucky to see any DE blades, let alone razors. My local Walgreen's -- there are dozens throughout the greater San Francisco area -- has one combination bowl, brush, and drying stand for sale. No razors or DE blades though.

Nice looking bowl Paul - Shave with my 60 Fatboy all the time, love it! Derby IMO makes some great ... "value priced" cream & blades that are "under rated" here. The 830 is a classic! I'm going to have to try the Lucky Tiger though - Flowers are beautiful as always Mrs H!. Thanks!

Hi Paul, great video as always. I buy the "chemist" witch hazel and then make a tincture with white rum using orange zest, vanilla bean, coffee, and all-spice. mix 50:50 with witch hazel and aloe juice, works great. I have been using one of those bowls for about a year and, for the price, they can't be beat.

Glad the fatboy worked for you! I had one, but had problems around the upper lip, as did you. lol Traded mine for a Gillette slim and LOVE the sleekness and maneuverability vs the fatboy. Great shave, Paul! My best to you, Mrs. H and Alys - Jonathan

Hi Paul--great shave. I've been looking for a 61 Fatboy G-4 (my birth razor) not easy to come by and also quite expensive.
I have a couple of the Slims which are really nice. Talking while shaving the stashe area with that large head on the Fatboy.
Nice new towel rack --lucky man to have Mrs H to enhance your bathroom. She's at it again!! Looks like Lilacs today.

Hi Paul! Great video enjoyed watching that Gillette Fat boy in use. Looks like it is a great razor. The old time Gillette razors are amazing. I have a 1961 Lady Gillette that is in a class by itself. James has a 1967 Gillette Slim Adjustable that is his favorite razor. Amazing history and amazing razors. I agree they should do an Anniversary razor and if they do make sure to do a Ladies one as well! :-)

I'm a day or so late watching your video. It was my birthday weekend so I was distracted. I lime the products you used Paul. Just bought a case of derby soap. Needed stuff to travel that I didn't mind losing or get confiscated by mean border guards. Have a good week , have a good one.

I have a 1964 Gillette Slim Adjustable and just love it. Actually so much so that I had to order up a re-plated one in gold to replace my chrome plated one.
I use the drug store Witch Hazel and the funny odor disappears rather quickly. I know you like your Thayers but I did some reading and some say that it is not considered Witch hazel because there is no alcohol content in it. Can't get Thayers locally but will order some up down the road.

Sorry not to see you on the wet shaving round table last night.I think the bowl would have worked better if the interior was less shiney so the lather had more to grip on to.I use a plastic salsa bowl and I rub down the interior with a medium course sandpaper and it work really well.
I couldnt quibble for that price - works great with soaps after pre-loading the brush
Yes it was a shame, my computer did not like the link I was given to connect for some reason, the bowl is great for the price, and Alistair states in his comment, better used witha pre-loaded brush, or as I said a shaving cream....all the best....Paul.

Paul what blades would you recommend for a newbie in wet shaving? Slightly sensitive skin I would say. Got the Merkur 33c razor.

Good products paul. I manage to give my proraso red shea butter and Dove shaving cream good run this week, haven't used them for while, never fails the red proraso and the dove gives good protection, we haven't seen you use them for while. Bring them out lol. Highly recommend you try Gillette 7'O Clock Sharp Edge (yellow) PERMASHARP or Sputnik, these blades get better after on a second shave when your using good shaving cream with good slick.

great video pual! beutiful bowl i want one now too lol! hammered bowl the Turkish use a cooper version I'v been curious as to how good they lather I'm currently using a salsa bowl it does a wonderful job and for $1US it can't be beat lol!

11:12 that was creepy. Had you just sensed the presence of a ghost in the bathroom?:) that fatboy looks to be in a very good condition. I recently purchased a Gillette slim. The head looks like new but the handle is not that fresh. It shaves really mild but efficient. I don't have any other razor that shaves in that way. I have tried the gillette tto knack razor but it was different maybe because of the light weight. However, I don't like the handle of the slim. I think I would like a fatboy more but it will be a challenge to find one in a good condition. Cheers!

Have you changed the resolution quality of your videos. It seems a bit blurred to me this one. and bland in colour.
Also i have had to return from Skye from my Fishing and Camping trip, which was meant to be for a week.
I have been most unwell with passing Blood and a strange rash has developed on my arms and legs. Dont know whats going on there. I will soldier on as usual.
The worst bit is having to catch up with all my subscribed You Tube videos, Ha Ha.

I don't smell rose, but your not crazy...lol....it depends what you grew up with I think, as it reminds you of certain scents and smells maybe....that's what I think anyway....so maybe I'm crazy...lol.
does it make a difference if I use shaving cream or soap..for sensitive skin...or the blades the problem
I think at the start maybe shaving cream is best, as it is a bit more slicker, and easier to use, then it could be many things causing the sensitivity, too much pressure on the razor when shaving, using a razor which maybe too aggressive, try using shaving oil on your skin, then apply lather on top, it should help reduce the irritation, also use very light touch when shaving...see if it helps you...all the best...Paul.

To me they are both quite similar, but I have always loved the Slim Adjustable.

Beautiful mini bowl for shaving. I like the blue color. In India, it makes a lot of good things. For example my favorite razor - Pearl. Parker, too. Many good blades: Gillette Wilkinson, SuperMax. In India, there are masters who shaves people on the street (Including stunning facial massage.). It is a pity that razor Fatboy is no longer produce now. But fortunately you can still get one.
