You can usually tell from body language when a person is lying. When she was trying to remember details she looked up or to the left, which usually means the person is accessing memory, whereas looking to the right means the person is making something up. She consistently looked up or to the left. She also seemed geniunely disgusted when the interviewer brought up the inappropriate touching.

Why should she resign when she won the election to be Sheriff? Maybe someone can try and recall her or vote her out in the next election but a group of entitled politicians and unelected Sheriff deputies don't get to undo the will of the voters.
