Maybe I'm wrong but I may have seen an interview in which Inio Asano said that at the time, he was really messed up, and with the mentality that the reader is his enemy, he wrote punpun so that he could give them as much pain as possible
I'm right there with you bro. Those first few cute chapters were like a mousetrap for what would transpire later. Glad to hear you came out the other side better than I did when I read it 3 years ago. I remember sinking hard after I read it. On the bright side I've recently been able to go back to it and find some hope in the future that I didn't see before. Aiko meant a lot of things to me personally at the time. She represented a faith and a dream... But now I don't think you need to put a face to these things for them to mean something. It might even be irresponsible to give them one. The biggest thing I took away from Punpun was finding meaning inside myself instead of outside.
Yeah finding a reason within yourself is a great take from the manga. Especially when we see how Punpun basically gave it all away only for the idea of Aiko, not her herself. And by leaving all else behind achieving his dream didn't compensate for the damage already done
@@eternallybound The manga, my comment is a snip to videos talking about subjects that for me ended up being mid at best unlike the person in the video who talks about it like a life changing experience, not specific to you but every video talking about how (X) broke me.
@@spinosaurusstriker Yeah I see your point and i agree that ppl tend to overreact that sth is life changing. But the shock factor that punpun gave led me to saying it broke me. Even if it isnt life changing it still has the ability of making you question yourself and your values
is it weird how I felt nothing about this story? I just kinda saw it as a good manga, and when I finished reading about it I just forgot about it a week later, idk I just didn't feel affected by it in any tremendous way
"oh what a funny looking bird, must be a fun comedy manga"
Thats what i thought
Can't believe I'm 20

Thats honestly how I felt reading berserk, I liked the ideas presented by it, but there was nothing that got me emotional or "traumatized"
That might mean you're generally a happier person than most of the people that read it lol
The more happy u r while reading punpun, the less will it feel special.
@@Gaurav4152b im so dumb anf dense could you explain that?
