That length of hair looks really good on you. It frames your face well and flatters you.

I love how you bring the spiritual lessons into minimalism. Helps to get rid of excess when we're keeping our eyes fixed on Him.

We got rid of nightstands, and coffee tables years ago. Best decision ever, less clutter, and less things for the kids to run into. My husband loves it also.

2Co 10:5 - Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
We can acknowledge our feelings while holding them under the scrutiny of our walk with Christ.

A few years ago, I did an experiment for 30 days: I moved my bedside table out of the bedroom. Much to my surprise I have not moved it back in - I love not having that flat surface!

I clean houses for a living, and I assure you,EVERYONE leaves mostly empty shampoo bottles in the shower and then starts new ones. It actually drives me crazy, so I don’t do it myself.😜

Regarding clutter. The root word for clutter is 'clot' You may not agree with this but the principles of Feng Shui revolve around the flow of energy in a room. One could even reduce that thought to how your gaze goes around a room. Does it get caught up somewhere? Or does it flow? This is one of the reasons decluttering makes such an impact.
You have likely mentioned it, but one of the biggest reasons to keep the clutter down is to keep from spending so much time moving things to clean and get down more to the business of cleaning. That reduces the likelihood of not being able to find little things. Watch, keys, phone....

That is interesting, I had not thought about the root word for clutter. Thanks for sharing!

Throughout my decluttering journey, I've come to realize that the entire process is really part of the sanctification process, God working out stuff in me! At first, I was paralyzed and spent way too much time deciding where to donate things, wanting the "perfect" place. God revealed in me that it was a control issue! Ugh! I needed to be responsible, of course, but trust that He is big enough to get the items to the right person. I just needed to let it go. I learned that instead of eliminating all flat surfaces, I needed to work on self control - not piling and stacking things where they didn't belong. I like having end tables with lamps on them to read by or to have soft light at night without the overhead light glaring down. I like having bookshelves for books and carefully placed photographs and decorations. I like having nightstands with a lamp on them to turn on at night or a place to put a flashlight, hand lotion or other necessities. Than answer wasn't to eliminate these pieces of furniture but to learn more self control. Along with that included learning what had become idols, praying more, controlling spending more - for me, the bottom line was learning more self control in all areas of my life and trusting in God more.

Feelings.... Healthy or heading towards idolatry? You could do an entire video on that, maybe even a series! What an excellent point.
I have a little bin with about a dozen tubes of lotion/creams, many were gifts and all ones I love and plan to use, though I will likely still have them years from now. When I received the free birthday item coupon for a body care item, didnt I pick out another lotion? Yes, I did!Yes, it can be gifted, donated, etc. but why did I even bother to consider it?
And the temptation to get rid of what I have and don't use so I can buy new versions of the same things or similar things that I just got rid of.
I already have enough, why get more?
"Fill those spaces with things that matter to Him." Great reminders, thank you. 💕

That’s a great idea! And thank you for sharing your struggle, I struggle with “lotion syndrome” too, just with books! 😆
