    Hi Rob can't believe I've only just found your channel so obviously I've binge watched loads of your videos. I used to fish the south and main tyne probably 20 years ago but moved away to yorkshire and a busy life meant I had no time for fishing . Your videos have been a real nostalgic pleasure to watch and I now realise how much I miss chucking a fly .

      Glad you're enjoying them, the rivers of the north east while undoubtedly not as prolific as they would have been in your heyday still offer as good a chance of a fish as anywhere I reckon. We don't know how lucky we aren't here.

      @abakerslife your so right the northeast and borders is blessed with some great rivers . Fishing the south tyne at night for seatrout was my favourite. Surface lure on a really dark night is possibly the most exciting fishing I have done . With a lot more time on my hands now I think my appetite is wetted again.

      @@abakerslife mate you called it right, if the tug is the drug then I’m an addict 😁 what a feeling, the last fish i hooked was below devils water at Dilston, my goodness what a fight, up stream, downstream and repeat over and over, porpoising, jumping until the hook pulled, what a slab of a fish!! Amazing ! I’ll be back on the Tyne next year for round two after 8 days on the Alness and Carron

    Good to see you in among the fish again. Nice video.
    I hit the Coquet today. Explored a new bit as I needed to go to Thropton. River on the bones of it's arse, but hooked one at the head of Vietnam. Lost it after a few minutes. Encouraging though.

    Another lovely video. . . .thank you. I hope you don't get disheartened wit the N. Tyne Rob. I fished it for a good few years at Chesters and it rarely failed. In fact, a long standing friend had one out of the Boat Pool on the lower beat 3 days ago on the fly. It was 25lbs+ , beating his previous best of 22lbs also taken at Chesters but on the top beat. Once again, thanks for giving us your excellent videos. Bye now.

    • @abakerslife
      @abakerslife  4 місяці тому +1

      Thanks Simon, congratulations indeed to your friend. I had my last day at Chesters back in June I think and pretty much swore to myself I'd never return. I like the beat I just never seem to catch it right and the lack of paths gets annoying after a while. I got murdered by giant hogweed trying to get into the pool above the ledges and all it would take is half an hour with a strimmer to open more of it up.
      I'm sure I will be back though at some point in the future. It owes me a belter after quite a few blanks there.

    • @simonashworth8825
      @simonashworth8825 4 місяці тому

      @@abakerslife Thanks for the reply Rob. Yes, bank maintenance was never a high priority at Chesters(!) and giant hogweed is seriously bad stuff. . .a keeper friend ended up in hospital after strimming some and the sap got into his eyes. Sounds like Chesters owes you a fish or two but you seem to be on a roll this season ie. your Drynachan trip. Look forward to the next video. Cheers.

    Great video again Rob! I've found on the north tyne a fresh with a small release is much more succesful for me over a good sized release without any fresh water on. I put it down to the temperature of the water being released from the dam is alot colder than rain water when it enters the river.
    Keep the faith, redesmouth lower beat is one heck of a beat if you get it right! Same with tarset 👍🎣

    I worry about your landing net clip Rob, could lose you a big fish if line gets ower that on Landing. Also mebby nah and again, consider moving your rod out at 90 degrees at end of the fly swim, you can cover another 3 meters off water, often on an inside line current crease. Valuable water you missed. I think it was when you, were murdering 'rocket man'. 🤭
