South Africa controversially leave out Oscar Pistorius, as LaShawn Merritt of USA takes to the front on the home straight and win gold.
That kick by Merritt was UNREAL.
He was holding back he ran low 45
@@aaronkoeppe9057 Yep. You could see he was just coasting in third place down the back stretch. You knew the big kick was coming the last 50.
There was a slight pause just so that he could get to the outside lane, and then his kick to the finish line was amazing. What a beautiful stride.
I love how Merrit on the last 100m is like nah I don't have time for these guys and does a full hope into lane 3 and pulls away by like a second.
That was pretty badass to be able to pull away from everyone like that in the last 100m on an anchor leg of a world class field.

I don't care how many times I see this race it is like I have seen it for the first time in my life. Merritt's form is unmatched.
Merritt did a phenomenal job. He kept his cool and moved strategically as the situation developed. The entire team worked together to make things happen. Good job.

Merritt wasn't even trying on the back stretch. What a good run by him....just bide his time and sit back and take it at the end. That's all he needed to do!

I'm a Wariner fan and I am sickened that he did not make the (individual) 400m team for London. But he's been included in the relay squad. Minor consolation I guess.

Lashawn Merritt was subsequently disqualified in 2009 on a doping charge. He agreed to a 2 year suspension. Any medals he won while running individually or on relays was stripped from him and his teammates. No wonder he ran so fast.
