Look ole little fresh faced Allyson. No make-up. Natural beauty. Pretty smart too. Graduated from USC in 3 years. She had already graduated college by the time this Olympics had rolled around.
That was really incredible running by Sanya. She made up such a significant gap and in an Olympic final. She plowed through the last 60 meters or so. And she ran hard straight through. This was a memorable squad.
As a former runner and understanding how hard it is to run a 400, I come back to watch this every summer and get chills watching Allyson & Sanya run down Russia to get us to the lead. Amazing watch.
I dont know why i shed tears every time i watch this, This race was unbelievable Allyson wasn't playing she got to work using her blazing sprint speed to put the USA in front and then Sanya had to freaking Dig deep and run like a pack of Lions was after to hawk down the runner to claim 1st place back for the USA this race is what you show kids and tell them this is why you NEVER GIVE UP.
Even though I have watched this time and time again, why on the last leg with Sanya Richards I was pressing my feet like the fake brakes on the passenger side when the driver seems like they are not going to stop? Ha.
It is great to see Sanya:a Jamaican representing the USA with dignity. Yes she was in beast mode. I agree with that comment. I saw her run at the national stadium while attending Vaz Preparatory school and yes that is where she developed the beast mode that was transferred to the United States of America when she left Jamaica for greener pastures in America. Great showing Sanya and Allison.😊😊😊😊😊😊
Idk why, after so many years, I still get so nervous bc I think that Sanya is going to drop the baton when she swings her arm like that while crossing the finish line. 😂😂😂
Sanya was a beast in this race running down the russian and Allyson never fails to impress. Luckily Allyson and Sanya ran beast mode because their other two runners were useless.
That’s disrespectful and rude AF. They won TOGETHER and everyone contributed. Sure, the 3rd leg gave up a lot of ground…they were still in contention which is why Sanya was able to run the Russian down. Smh
In 2010, the US result was questioned due to the participation in the qualifying race of Crystal Cox, who admitted to doping from 2001 to 2004. In July 2012, the IOC stripped Crystal Cox of the gold medal for the relay and asked the IAAF to decide on the disqualification of the entire team. The result of the Russian team remained unchanged.
@@mecpeec9478 Russia has been doping in every major competition, even banned from international meets. Don’t be mad because your girl couldn’t beat Sanya. 😂😂😂

@@monicanath4859 yep! Actually the mens & womens 4x400m both got promoted to bronze medals along with Kelly Sotherton in the heptathlon & Goldie Sayers in the javelin… disgraceful! And there’s Germaine Mason (sadly, he died in a car crash a few years ago) who won silver behind a Russian cheat in the high jump so Team GB may potentially may get more upgrades…
@@64fairlane305 Wow. A Russian who owns a Ford Fairlane lying about America. What's next. Russia is the only country to have their whole team banned. Go back to Moscow. But leave the Ford and get yourself a Lada.
Looking back at the race this is something I realize withe Jamaica overtime losing momentum at the hand over , irrespective its a 4× 400 its critical to be smooth and incident free.. coaches need to point this out and emphasize it to the athletes.
Monique ran too fast in the beginning. Mary is the slowest in US team but she actually finished strong in her leg, 2nd I think. Russians are disqualified due to doping by Fiorova and Kapachinskaya
Second? Mary was in 3rd and she was well behind Jamaica, Rusia, and UK. Felix used her speed in order not to be that behind on the backstraight and then she usted her strenght to be in front.

I have no idea, why the women, we remember: the best teams of the world, are that weak in passing the baton to the next runner. They do not use the exchange zone, but wait standing still and looking back, until the baton is passed over. In the high school we did it better. The worst example was the russian finisher, who lost one second in taking the baton with the left hand and, still not running, passed it over to the right hand. After that manoevre she started her sprint.
This is the 15th fastest 4x400m women’s relay race of all times. Compared to the legs of Allyson Felix (48.55) and Sanya Richards-Ross (48.93), the other two runners: Monique Henderson (50.06) and Mary Wineberg (51.00) had much slower splits, however also considering that the Russian team (who came in second in this video) was later disqualified for failing drug tests. All that to say, from a times perspective, there have been much slower teams.
This was probably one of the best 4x400 I’ve ever watched. Sanya😮
1996 Olympic women's 4x400 was more exciting! Both are good, but I think 96 is better. Hope you check it out!
This race was EPIC! Allison does 48-second something. Sanya THE ASSASSIN Richard's-Ross finish was goose-bump INSPIRING!

thanks for uploading the full version, this was such a good race!
EPIC! Gotta love Sanya's 48.9 leg!
One of the best women's 4x4 races EVER!
Both Sanya n Felix are my favorite athletes!
Alson Felix gave us the beauty of the track event
Richards-Ross ran that leg like a veteran-of which she is. Did not take off too fast and timed it right.
4x400 women is the most exciting event in track and field
Brave and confident run by Sanya Richardson- Ross.

I agree
The other runners were not useless. They were not superstars like Allyson and Sanya, but they helped run the race.
The other two just mange to keep it close for felix and Richard
Unless?? Allyson Felix received the baton in a tie for 1st. Sanya Richards finally had a good relay so everyone else is useless smh. Typical casual!!
