As a young man, I went camping. As a man in his 60s, I go glamping. (Glamour camping).

I don't quite know that I agree with your versions of camping. yeah! there are different levels of camping, but in my opinion a fully loaded RV, fifth wheel camper, or tag along camper, Motorhome etc. ain't it. camping however is supposed to be roughing it, connecting you back with the nature, & the wilderness, and hopefully appreciating the wild life, maybe reminiscing of a time, when there was no electricity, and camping, was a way of life and and lots more, while reminding you, of why you have those modern amenities to begin with. I can do exactly what you are talking about in my back yard.

Yes Sir! You are so correct. Comfort camping is much more pleasant then survival camping. Although if you have the skills and like survival camping then just do it. Whatever makes you happy and does not leave a mess or harm any innocent people or animals.

As a preteen I would build a tent in the back yard using lawn furniture and an old army blanket. In my teens I had a sleeping bag. In my 20’s I had an actual tent with metal poles and a zippered door. Fifties it was a small camper and now in my 60’s I have a large camper with everything. It’s all camping, it represents leisure time away from home. Now, my question is, when someone uses the term “Happy Camper “ are they referring to the physical recreational vehicle often called a camper or are they referring to the person who is camping? Or can it be used interchangeably? Oh the things that you think of while camping. LOL

I've been camping since I was 5. I've done everything from sleeping out with nothing but a sleeping bag, through back packing tents, big tents, pick up campers, trailers, motorhomes and boats. Camping is getting out and enjoying the outdoors. How you camp depends on many factors. Your age and abilities, do you have kids, your experience level, etc. When I hit about 40 I no longer enjoyed sleeping on the ground. Since then I much prefer a camper. Plus, wrangling kids and meals is much easier. My kids are all about your daughters age. They'd all tell you what they learned from me is, make due with what you have and be as comfortable as reasonably possible to make any camping trip fun. 80% of the time now days, we're towing our pontoon boat, too. So, until recently, we had a pick up camper. We now have a 29' motorhome. I find it too big, especially with the boat. I'm going to be looking for another pick up camper. My advice to novice campers: start small and work up, used campers of every type are everywhere, most are easily repaired, learn as you repair (stay away from structural and water damage), use it a few times and figure out what you do and don't like about your camper, then sell it for more than you paid and repeat with an upgrade. Eventually, you'll find one that fits just right. Remember to keep weight down. In my opinion, no camper needs a TV. A/C is nice to have, but optional. Don't be a Glamper who has to have every convenience of home and runs a generator constantly! Have fun, that's what camping is all about. ❤

The only part of camping I don't enjoy anymore. It's seemingly a new trend with some folks, of laying out large carpets on the grassy areas leaving behind bare dirt & mud holes when it rains for the next camper, dog fences and leaving dogs out all day to continually bark and enough outdoor lights to illuminate half the campground which are left on all night. lol

Yea they shouldn’t bring dogs. They’re too loud and could attract problems in bear country.

@@farmninja6653we always take our dog. If we're in a campground, she's leashed. If we're out in the woods, she explores just like we do. Can't think of anytime we've ever had serious wildlife issues and we're in Idaho, we have every kind of wildlife.
