If I were stranded on an island with only one musician's work to hear, it would be Van Morrison. One listen to this profoundly sentimental heart-tugging gem, and you'll know why. Virtually every comment here mentions how much this tune and Van mean to them and me. Music transports me to other places, but none compare to that of Van Morrison. He is an incomparable generational treasure.
I agree! If I was stranded anywhere I would want Vans music with me, going All the way back to Them, so many tunes, such an amazing voice musician and songwriter. I absolutely love this performance here, the arrangement and song are outstanding!
I agree with you 100%! He's been my favorite artist/singer/music writer since the 60's. He's a transformative musician, ever changing and growing❣️ I love you, George Ivan Morrison ☘️💚☘️
I am 75, have followed Van from his begining. I studied music and played coronet , trumpet and baritone since age 10. What a beautiful piece of music here indeed.Van is such a treasure with an incredible vocal talent. A voice so distintive with audio waveforms instantnly recognzizable , also showing his raw vocal power that transcends all listeners " into the mystic " ! Of course we can also add his great song writing skills to his repertoire.
This song is home, memory lane and a galactic stem that gut punches your soul and nurtures your growth. I'm 41 years old and I'm a black man that loves this song because it has an impact on any humanity of heart, soul and spirit. God's creation. The message and the token that was tossed in this fountain well? Priceless!!! It delivered beyond this universe. I only wish that the universe would manifest this message and let it nurture mankind and it's existence. If possible? Than it would be set in stone like God always intended it would be.. Louie Armstrong" what a wonderful world 🌎".
I remember being 15 years old, my friends were listening to hip hop, I was listening to Van Morrison, they had no clue!! That's cool, I dug the best thing, there is. Still listening at 48!!!
Van Morrison is a kind of modern day Beethoven... and absolutely the greatest singer/songwriter ever. Thank you, Van, for decades of some of the most beautiful music the world could ever know...
Dear Mr. Morrison, You are the genius of all great Muscians, I can cry which is needed when listening to your music. Thank you always for providing me with emotions that are normaly hidden. You, have that way that depth in cleansing the soul, as we all need. Love Deresa
This song is so evocative it calms your inner self. The waiting and longing and yearning put across in the lyrics is romantic, hypnotic. Van is a truly great storyteller and songsmith. Admire Van Morrison greatly.
The album Astral Weeks was my introduction to the genius that is Van Morrison.I have listened to his music for almost 40 yrs now. This is one of my favourites.Into The Mistic, Autumn Leaves,Never Supposed To Breakdown,Young lovers Do,Cyprus Avenue,Queen Of The Slipstream,Take Me Back.Thankyou Van Morrison.
When you see in every musician that every note passes through his mind and body (especially the girl who flows on the cello with her eyes closed and a smile on her face), then you know that the performance must be top notch ... thank you Mr. Morrison
Home to om mom...wow! Thankful i still can hear from my right ear! This music is the love in my life every day and night. So healing and ongoingly hopeful
If my memory's not failing me, you played guitar and got a mention/credit on Beautiful Vision. You played at the then Hammersmith Odeon in 1982 (?) as part of Van's band. I travelled down from Leeds for that. Also on Wavelength, Into The Music and Common One ...?
Did you play with him in 1980 bouedreax? don't know if I spelled that correctly but I was wondering if I have seen or heard you play, must be a gem to stand a stage with the most talented man of the century, congrats
Absolutely amazing. This man is a gift to planet earth. Thanks for the great music over the many years. Thanks for continuing to reach out to your fans.
This live version is so incredible. What emotion; what feeling; what energy. Van brings it big time in this live version of a great song. Thanks for sharing your talent, Van Morrision.
In 1971, I was driving my son and daughter to nursery school when I turned on the car radio...at the exact, first note of Tupelo Honey. I was enthralled by the voice. (Had to remind myself to pay attention to the road...) When I got home, I went straight to the phone, called the disc jockey. "Who was that?" "Van Morrison". Got back in the car, drove to the record store, bought my first album. God bless the curmudgeon.
Until you see this man live you have not lived...i have been luckey enough to have seen him 6 times and every time is a memory that i will keep in my heart until the day i die....xoxoxo
***** That is a really disappointed to hear. I've never seen him in concert and have only pictured it as being nothing less than a religious experience. Where did you see him? He doesn't play the 'States much these days - except for Austin City Limits.
Ken, I don't see the original comment you're referring to, but I gather Alan was not thrilled with Van in concert. As one who has seen him about 6 x in the last 8 years (and who shelled out $150 to see him in Oakland again in October) I can tell you that the 1st time I saw him WAS a religious experience. Great way to put it. The other concerts were also superb. Has he put on concerts that were less so, in the past? I'm sure he has. But I believe he is at the top of his game. He is an AMAZING performer. He actually comes to the states once every year- 18 months. GO SEE HIM. Our favorite performers are dropping like flies. When they're gone, they're gone.
This song brings back memories of a very special Celtic lady that was everything in my life awhile back. Some 10 years later, the words of this song, still bring back emotions of a lost love. Maybe this Celtic New Year?
Thank God for the music that transcends time, color and creed. Artist seems pedestrian when you think of a poet, singer and songwriter like Van Morrison and Joni Mitchell. You don't merely listen to the music you drink it in, it fills your soul and carries you to a place of hope that mankind may somehow find harmony with itself.

I strongly agree 👍!!! It wouldn't be Jimmy Buffet with me on that deserted island. LOL !! IT WOULD MOST CERTAINLY BE VAN THE MAN!!
Trust my luck would be stranded with a consignment of Ed Sheeran’s nonsense, and my person Friday would be Ann Widdecombe.
good call.
Wow Colette, such a fantastic full moon and great romantic song ! So very Irish and full of beauty !
I think I’m the second person to say “Van Morrison, you’re the only artist whose songs bring tears to my eyes!”
Absolutely Beautiful!!!!…thank you!❤️
Van Morrison is the only artist who’s songs put tears in my eyes.
One of the best (if not the best) singer songwriters that’s ever lived.

There is no one like Van the Man. His music just takes you away to a much nicer place that is hard to leave.
So agree. On your worst day his music can make it better.
A musical genius for over five decades.....
He's the only artist that can make me emotional...and I don't consider myself an emotional person...powerful music
There is no better performer than Van Morrison, he puts so much into every song, in my opinion he is the best ever singer
Van the Man can make me weep from a single note from his voice.

I was 16 years old in 1967 when I first heard Brown Eyed Girl. I've been addicted to Van the man ever since.
Was 10 years old, thought it was about brown-eyed susans. flowers growing wild by the field-full.
I really don't fig that much Brown yet girl but I worship Van since 1964
