If you're referring to that Myles Jack wasn't down thing. To be fair, even with that call, The Jaguars still had a chance to win the game but they just didn't take advantage
I agree. I remember watching the first few weeks of the 2018 season and being baffled by all of these roughing the passer calls. The most ridiculous calls were the ones on clay Matthews when he sacked Kirk cousins and Alex Smith. I’m sitting there thinking “WTF? Why are penalties being called on textbook/picture perfect sacks?”
Although I do gotta say, as bad as roughing the passer has been from 2018-present, 2017 was a horrible year for the catch rule. So many questionable overturned catches that year, most notably Jesse James vs the patriots. Also it was pretty ridiculous how many bad calls went the patriots way that season.
Well, define "true" I guess. They do a lot more to try to prevent serious head injuries now, especially where quarterbacks are concerned, yes. But, since causing literal brain damage to the opposing players is not actually the object of the game, I don't mind it.
As a Vikings fan, I went from the highs of the Minneapolis Miracle to the lows of getting absolutely stomped by Philly. And, what made it worse was that the Eagles won the Super Bowl in our home stadium.
I have a can of Bud Light with the Vikes logo on display with my other fandom items that I said I was going to drink during the Super Bowl after Miracle. After the NFC Championship I chugged the can because as Napoleon said "In victory you deserve champagne. In defeat, you need it."
Love this channel. Started watching when I was sick and in the hospital and had nothing to do and you have truly taught me so much about football. Can’t wait for this upcoming season!
As an Eagles fan, the 2022 season would've been right there with it if our damn defense did their job and held Mahomes down like they did in the 1st half😭😭😭
I just watched this video and it reminded me of a franchise mode experience i had in madden 24 I had the exact same season as the 2017 eagles, Lost mvp favorite to injury, backup plays well, leads them through playoffs and won the super bowl
This year is so crazy for me because im from philly and never got into football until this crazy eagles run, which in turn made me learn and love football, but wanna learn it from a different fan perspective. I learned all the teams, rules and players and asked myself “why and how did the browns go 0-16?” Started watching every one of there games since and am now a diehard fan. All stemming from nick foles
I remember that season so fondly as an Eagles fan. I was a senior in high school and for years I got mocked for being an Eagles fan and how we could never win the big one. Needless to say when we won the Super Bowl I was on cloud nine! I heard it all once Wentz went down with the torn ACL. I heard "your Super Bowl chances came and Wentz" stuff like that. I heard you'll never beat the falcons then it was you'll never beat the Vikings their defense is too good, and finally it was you'll never beat Brady in the superbowl only one other team has done it. That win shut EVERYONE up even if it was just for a season. My grandfather, who has since passed away, was an Eagles fan practically his whole life. He'd seen it all at that point the highs and lows. I remember vividly what he said to me and my parents Monday morning after the game he told us "my life is complete and I can die a happy man knowing that they finally won the big one" and 2 years later he did pass. I will never forget that year as long as I live.
the way this season mirrored an opposite timeline of every traumatic aspect of watching the eagles during the mcnabb years (yearly QB injuries that cut playoff runs short, losing to brady in 2005) make me question to this day how things actually turned out so magically the way that it did in 2017-18. I am confident that the satisfaction of seeing my team win their first super bowl against that legendary patriots team in the highest scoring super bowl of all time will never be matched in my lifetime
2017 was the first year since 1996 that my Jaguars were legitimate playoff contenders. I think the Steelers game was the most excited I've been for a team ever, apart from the legendary Lions-Rams playoff game last year. I still remember Myles Jack's early interception.
2017 was the first season I really started watching eagles, I was born in MN and my dad never really watched to much football but we moved out to the Philly area where my grandpa who did watch a lot of eagles lived and that was the year I really got into it and they won it that uou
10:56 “and back to superbowl championships” that’s the thing about this it’s not. A back up quarterback gave a very old eagle franchise their very very first win 🥇 in all seasons 🏆
Living to see my Eagles win a SB…meant something to me and it still sucks the Wentz never lived up to his hype after his injury he really sacrificed his body for us and we couldn’t do it without him
A fact many people forget is Bill Belicheck let his ego get in the way and benched Malcolm Butler for the entire game, he was a very solid corner outside of his superbowl hero moment, and likely would have made the Eagles superbowl run at least a little harder
Nah just pats fans coping. Opposing QBs had a qbr of 128 vs Butler that year. Not to mention the same pats defense held the rams to 3 points the following Super Bowl without him. Eagles and Foles were just better.
This playoff was really the end of an era, last year before the Mahomes era, one of the last great years of Drew Brees, the end of the killer B’s, one of Brady’s last SB’s with the Patriots all culminating in a miraculous run for Nick Foles
That 2017 season wasn't only a season we were never going to see again, but it marked a new era in seeing how bad officiating games were going to be after that season. 2018 became one of the most controversial seasons that year, and it only got worse from there on. I get there were bad officiating seasons before 2017, but it didn't feel as bad as consistent before
Im a lifelong eagles fan. this Superbowl was the greatest few hours of sports I have ever seen. A straight shoot out between the GOAT and Foles( Philly GOAT) what a fucking game!! I cried at the end
As a Giants fan this year was tumultuous, Odell tore his ACL, Eli’s streak ended, etc. But 2017 BY FAR is my fav NFL season ever, even though the Eagles won the SB, that was and forever will be the only time I pulled for them.
My sister has a mental disability, and one of her quirks is just rewatching videos she likes endlessly for months. She’s also an eagles fan. I’m positive she added a million views to the sight and sounds video of the eagles blowing out the Vikings lol
The only divisional round from the last few seasons that has a true case for topping 2017 is 2021. The fact that all 4 games ended on the final play, both 1 seeds lost on the same day, Tom Brady almost coming back from another 20+ point deficit, and an unbelievable 13 second drive by Mahomes to send the BUF-KC game to OT was like 4 movie plots rolled up into one weekend.
A few other unique things to mention about 2017: Bills make the playoffs for the first time in 17 years thanks to that Bengals win over the Ravens. At the time, the Bills were the last team who hadn't made the playoffs this century. Also, one week before the Jaguars win one of the highest-scoring playoff games ever, 45-42 over the Steelers, they won one of the lowest scoring playoff games ever 10-3 over the Bills. Oh, and let's not forget the 0-16 Browns.
That season was my first season watching football and as an eagles fan, I am ruined. I was not prepared for the following seasons of pain when we were so close to victory
Oh yea man it was rough before. You started watching at a good time, im sure we’ll be contenders for years to come but that wasn’t always the case in the late 2000’s to early 2010’s we were trash but had some good players/big names
As a Dolphins fan I am glad that I don't have to live in fear of the Patriots beating us into last place in our division. Now maybe I can get my hopes up that we can get through the wildcard round as we haven't been past in 22 years. 😭😭😭
My friend's grandpa, really really sweet and genuine dude and die hard Eagles fan would always say how it was going to be their year and it never was. He passed away shortly before the 2017 season. I cried thinking about him when the Eagles won the Superbowl. I like to think that he, Doug Yeager, helped make that happen from up above. Cheesy I know, but a true story nonetheless.
It's funny how different an eagles fan perspective of the playoffs is than everyone elses. The bookies and media counted us out but the fanbase was truly all in beleiving in the team and laughed at things like not being favored, the confidence from early on never abided

I will NOT be missing him!
A Jags vs. Eagles Super Bowl would have been one hell of a game.
If you're referring to that Myles Jack wasn't down thing. To be fair, even with that call, The Jaguars still had a chance to win the game but they just didn't take advantage
Yeah, that was the same year that the refs gifted the Titans a win at Arrowhead. The Pats couldn't take the Chiefs, give them Tennessee.
Wentz only Super Bowl memory is him handing the trophy to Foles 😅
As an eagles fan, this season was like a dream
God damn Shanahan. I'm a Falcons fan, and I honestly didn't care who beat Brady as long as someone did. Foles, you are my hero.
That year’s playoffs is top 3 in NFL History
2017 was the last true NFL season. Since then a lot more roughing the passer calls…
Every season since the dawn of time has fans complaining about the refs and rules. It's boring.
Well, define "true" I guess. They do a lot more to try to prevent serious head injuries now, especially where quarterbacks are concerned, yes. But, since causing literal brain damage to the opposing players is not actually the object of the game, I don't mind it.
2011 was the last true season
As a Vikings fan, I went from the highs of the Minneapolis Miracle to the lows of getting absolutely stomped by Philly. And, what made it worse was that the Eagles won the Super Bowl in our home stadium.
I have a can of Bud Light with the Vikes logo on display with my other fandom items that I said I was going to drink during the Super Bowl after Miracle.
After the NFC Championship I chugged the can because as Napoleon said "In victory you deserve champagne. In defeat, you need it."
NICK FREAKING FOLES. ALWAYS WILL BE GRATEFUL AS A PHILLY FAN TO HAVE HIM
Love this channel. Started watching when I was sick and in the hospital and had nothing to do and you have truly taught me so much about football. Can’t wait for this upcoming season!
Easily the most underrated Super Bowl ever
I’d love it if you did more season reviews like this. Great video 👍
that falcons collapse really showed how integral Kyle shanahan was to that playoff run
As a jags fan this was easily my favorite season ☝️🤓
Nick fold catching a pass in the Super Bowl you gotta love that. I’m not an Eagle fan but man with that crazy.
I was in my freshman year at Temple when this happened. Being on Broad after the win was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen.
This was the last year we made the playoffs while we lost in the first round it truly was the last great season of carolina panthers football
I LOVE YOU TUBFROG
i liked my own comment so what
@@mcjahnalds8298rightfully so!
2017 was the first year since 1996 that my Jaguars were legitimate playoff contenders. I think the Steelers game was the most excited I've been for a team ever, apart from the legendary Lions-Rams playoff game last year. I still remember Myles Jack's early interception.
Sacksonville we got robbed from the Super Bowl
2017 was the first season I really started watching eagles, I was born in MN and my dad never really watched to much football but we moved out to the Philly area where my grandpa who did watch a lot of eagles lived and that was the year I really got into it and they won it that uou
Why does this feel like 2024, random teams are playing good, the defending super bowl champions are favorites, injuries, and 23-24 was like 2020
10:56 “and back to superbowl championships” that’s the thing about this it’s not. A back up quarterback gave a very old eagle franchise their very very first win 🥇 in all seasons 🏆
Been watching football since 2010. 2017 is still my favorite season to date
Living to see my Eagles win a SB…meant something to me and it still sucks the Wentz never lived up to his hype after his injury he really sacrificed his body for us and we couldn’t do it without him
2016-2017 was the best year in every category from music to sports
as an eagles fan man one of the happiest time of my life, just proving everyone wrong the entire season and winning in that underdog aura
As a birds fan, 2017 and the Foles Cinderella run was legendary. He saved football in Philly.
This playoff was really the end of an era, last year before the Mahomes era, one of the last great years of Drew Brees, the end of the killer B’s, one of Brady’s last SB’s with the Patriots all culminating in a miraculous run for Nick Foles
Ahhh that was fun to watch, thanks Tub!! Go Birds
Witnessing this in the prime of my teenage years as a eagles fan is truly a blessing to my life
That 2017 season wasn't only a season we were never going to see again, but it marked a new era in seeing how bad officiating games were going to be after that season. 2018 became one of the most controversial seasons that year, and it only got worse from there on. I get there were bad officiating seasons before 2017, but it didn't feel as bad as consistent before
2018 was the worst season for officiating
@someperson3883 I bet every Saints fan agrees it was the worst lol
@@QcxmLmao true but the saints would have lost to the patriots anyway
Im a lifelong eagles fan. this Superbowl was the greatest few hours of sports I have ever seen. A straight shoot out between the GOAT and Foles( Philly GOAT) what a fucking game!! I cried at the end
The Eagles were truly “America’s Team” that year.
As a Giants fan this year was tumultuous, Odell tore his ACL, Eli’s streak ended, etc. But 2017 BY FAR is my fav NFL season ever, even though the Eagles won the SB, that was and forever will be the only time I pulled for them.
Watching this on my way back to the army is just so fun for me
Okay Kareem was definitely NOT one of our cornerstones in 2017😂 we still had old vets like Justin Houston
2017 was a wild year. The year of the backup QBs.
My sister has a mental disability, and one of her quirks is just rewatching videos she likes endlessly for months. She’s also an eagles fan. I’m positive she added a million views to the sight and sounds video of the eagles blowing out the Vikings lol
that call will always haunt me
thank you for mentioning that tom brady did the philly special before nick foles did it
The only divisional round from the last few seasons that has a true case for topping 2017 is 2021.
There was really just something in the air in 2017 for the eagles, every fan felt it. That was truly a team of destiny
A few other unique things to mention about 2017:
Bills make the playoffs for the first time in 17 years thanks to that Bengals win over the Ravens.
Calais Campbell also predicted the score by accident prior to that Steelers - Jags game
If my memory serves me correctly, I think it was the Patriots waiting on the Eagles vs Vikings for the Super Bowl
Yeah. They didnt look good though. Brady got bailed out, Jags shouldve been the ones waiting. Im an Eagles fan and Im saying that
I cant believe how long ago 2017 was that was one of the 4 best years in my life 2017 2019 2020 2021 were peak for me
This season was crazy that ended with one of the best Super Bowls ever!
