This is a great example of why framerates can and should be mixed in animation, imo. There is a charm to the broad motion being choppy, but the rapid flourish at the end needs a higher framerate to come through.
So looking at the clock, the 8 FPS one took around 3 hours for the whole thing while the 24 FPS one took 4 hours just for the little side to side and around a whole 12 hours (possibly more) for the whole thing. Crazy hard work right there.

What's there to like about stutter? Just curious cuz once I discovered 60fps and beyond I can't look at 30 or 24 the same anymore. Mind you I was like 3 to 4 years ago that couldn't see a difference between 30 and 60 fps

i love the stylization of the 8fps that lets the brain fill in the gaps for longer movements, but the 24fps is great for showing the minuscule ones that can't be captured with 8
The left is reminiscent of the stop motion _Lego_ shorts. The right just looks like CGI, you almost can’t tell that it’s stop motion because of how seamless and elegant the movement is.

I don't know how you simulated it so cleanly, the 24fps version is so smooth it almost looks unreal, whereas the 8fps version is incredibly charming, especially with the watch going absolutely crazy in the background, like what are you doing to me, please end my suffering! XD
Holding frames let's the viewer's mind fill in the blank. It's choppier but in some ways can be more beautiful -- just look at Spider Verse. The real challenge with movement on every frame in 24fps is that if the animator messed up, it's incredibly noticeable. That's why if you look at animated movies or cinematics from game companies it looks so fluid at 24, because they're the best in the world. At the end of the day, it's the animator's skill that will make all the difference.
Exactly my thoughts. It's pretty much 24FPS, but using frame duplicates making in 12 FPS. In Flash the default framerate ws 12 fps, and we were learning cell animation in 12 FPS. When I tried 24 fps animation- it was so much more time consuming to deal with.
This perfectly showcases the advantages of each, lower framerates are snappier and feel faster, but for complex motions like that second move are harder to comprehend with low framerates
If this is a demonstration of how different frame rates suit different scenarios, I love it. 8fps actually looks better to me for the slower movement, but 24fps was better for the faster sequence (in order to capture the hand movements)
As someone who made a stop motion film back in high school I can appreciate the amount of time and effort this stuff takes because it genuinely takes way longer than you'd expect
24fps looks unbelievably smooth but 8fps has such a nice feel to it, almost nostalgic in a way like I'm watching Wallace and Gromit as a child again. Excellent work with both 😊

You know how some animations make some scenes smooth, but when something fast or action happens, they differ the frame rate I’ve never seen it in stop motion personally and think it would be really cool

Stop motion has such a charm to it, but it must be such a difficult medium to work with! BTW in case you didn't already know, the movie Kubo and the two strings, is entirely stop motion!
