And.... VP does something completely different again 😉....because they are independent they do tend to go where others fear to tread because they can... if it works, it works... if it doesn't... oh well! By far the widest genre range of the a cappella groups. Love this one too. Thanks for the reaction - I am also in camp "please do not digitize yourself"....🌹🕊
Since you brought it up - they are not digitized here. Just filmed in front of a green screen but with added contrast to give them more of that 'cartoon' look where the colors are darker and more intense. In real life, neither Eli's beard nor Geoff's hair are quite so dark. Even Cesar's skin seems more contrasted between a darker color next to that white makeup on his face. And for info - Arcane is not actually a video game, but instead an animated tv show based on a game. And Alexa's 'dance moves' in the reflective black space represent the way the character is going 'mad'. I think one of the most impressive production feats for this video is that Alexa is also filmed in front of a green screen in Korea. Spectacular match up for lighting to make her look like she is being filmed alongside VP. And even more impressive? I believe that reflection of her on the black floor was entirely created, not from natural filming. I love this one. Not just visually, but for the pace, Layne's wild beatboxing and the high notes from ALL the singers.
When Alexa reached out to them about performing with them, Layne was just finishing the arrangement for this. It was a good fit so they jumped on it, knowing the timing was right. Alexa was participating in the American Songwriter Contest (televised in the US) representing Oklahoma and did win the contest, shortly before this was released. But between tapings she was back in South Korea and taped this there. This is another that Eli did the backgrounds for in Unreal Engines. There were a lot of challenges for Layne to piece everything together in editing, but the end result was worth it!
Thank you for another priceless reaction to Voice Play. I love seeing the pure joy on your face & how you really get into the visuals as well as their voices. You all are my favorite reactor ❤
Alexa reached out to Voiceplay wanting to do this reaction. She was born in Oklahoma, is currently living in Korea. She did her part in Korea on green screen and was edited in by Layne. She also had her backup choreograph dance moves. No way the guys could learn it and do it, too complex and in my opinion would have been too distracting. They did a few of the moves. And I don't care for reactors who don't let me see them. Just sayin'.
Fun fact: this contains Geoff's lowest note in recorded music. During his slide toward the end, he bottoms out at an A0 (the lowest note on a grand piano).
This is the reaction the video deserves! Enjoyment and appreciation for it, plus robot crickets and fear of Alexa devices chiming in. Yes. This VoicePlay cover is on repeat for me. They nailed the visual and audio goodness.
Zack, since you are a big fan of the Halo game would you please do a reaction video to Voice Plays cover of the Halo theme song from the game ? It is amazing. The composer of the music said that Voice Plays cover is the best ever. He was blown away by their cover. Please watch the video till the end of the credits. They have a very important message about the game. They have a very deep connection with the game.
I guess AleXa was the one to reach out to Voiceplay and ask them to collaborate with her. Given her style of music is really different from what Voiceplay does (have they ever done any K-pop?) , I think that’s a heck of a compliment. She’s kind of a thing in her genre. By the way, SOMEONE needs to edit the Wikipedia article about her to include this piece among her collaborations. The site won’t let me because there’s some kind of problem with my IP address (lots of techie gobbledegook-TLDR). Anyway, I agree, this is one of the songs I replay often. I can’t ever pick favorites because that changes with my state of mind, but there are several I return to all the time. So great reaction!! I’d really like to see you do a reaction to Tomi P and Marwan Ayman (members of The Bass Gang). They both have some awesome stuff on their solo channels. For Tomi, maybe one of his latest (I just love Overwhelmed and Jericho), and for Marwan, Moment of Silence, or (this goes way back to early days, but I think this is when I realized how amazingly talented he is) Believer.
I've seen a few reactors that do animations of themselves - but I haven't seen one yet that "works." Too flat, misses all of the nuance of a human reacting to the music. (Eli did this backdrop)
One of the best parts about watching your reactions is to see your smiling face when you’re having fun…

Eli did a great job incorporating Alexa's part into VPs parts.

Layne blew me away in this one though they all slayed it.

This video made me curious enough to go find the animated show that this was from so I could watch it.

They did butter which is kpop I believe
This is awesome!💜💜💜
AleXa is actually from Oklahoma. She's so good! LOVED your reaction. LOVE this song. Not long enough!
The coolest part about this was It was shot during the pandemic so nobody could be around anyone and I believe alexa was in korea at the time
Personally, I’d prefer that you don’t digitize yourself. But then again, I’m an old fogy, so what do I know?
I'll take you any day instead of a Cartoon Zach. I've one reactor that has a cartoon self and I hate it.
