The I've dug two graves is a reference to the quote "before you embark on the journey of revenge, dig two graves" basically meaning that trying to get revenge will be bad for you as well
This isnt a song about revenge, despite the name being that. This song is about how he dug a grave for a relationship. He feels guilty, its literally his first words... Why would someone who feels guilty about doing something wrong want to take revenge? I feel wronged but i also did wrong, will i act on my revenge. He says all of this in the song. That is the whole moral of the story he is trying to tell.
He’ll rot in his grave because he’s waiting for her. He’s dug two graves after all. He could act on revenge and be with someone else. Some kill some steal and some break your heart. In his heart he’s so in love it feels guilty to want to move on, he doesn’t want to, he doesn’t want to hurt her or show her. He rather lay in his grave and rot, still he wants to act on his revenge out of anger. His pain is her freedom, she’s free while he’s in pain. This song calls to me and is jarringly overwhelming. One of my favourite melancholic melodies.
this. i believe "is all of my pain your freedom?" is referring to the fact he is in pain when seperated from her, but the seperation is her freedom from him.

It does have a meaning, it’s about his ex and him not being ok with letting her go but she is hurting him and he’s saying he’ll rot but she’ll come with him, also it’s about his uncle who killed himself while x was in the house and x found his body
If you didn't know the actual meaning behind the song is obviously to forgive yourself and move on for the mistakes you've made in the past and the song is explaining how tentaction is willing to accept his punishment in the grave if his ex can move on and enjoy her life without pain or having to worry what he has done in the past

It was THIS song that REALLY put me onto Jah. I thought he was just a delinquent before this song. He showed his talent for singing and brought up deep questions that are usually only asked by the sub-conscious and later recognized consciously in what he says. But he was insanely troubled. I dont think he would of lasted long anyways if it wasnt for his strong morale. Sadly he was murdered and a legend was stripped from us before it was born.
The song is not about "I cant have you, so no one can" - its actually somewhat simple. Its just about being hurt & wronged and then carrying the anger, because you cant let go of the feeling. He knows he's suffering because of it but cant help that he cant let go of the pain & bitterness, therefore he'll rot. Hes even saying he doubts he'd act on any revengeful feelings, reinforcing the anger is totally pointless and serves only as poison to himself. The song is supposted to be cathartic for people going through the same, hence the ending. The digging 2 graves things is only there because he thinks that he wronged her as well - or maybe also because of his failure to let go.
This song was dedicated to Jocelyn Flores after she committed suicide. Jocelyn along another girl were involved in a photoshoot with x for his clothing brand, someone stole from x and he didnt know who to thrust, so he decided to fly them back. The girls were supposed to stay in their room until the were flying back. One of x's friends was accompanying Jocelyn in the room when she went to the bathroom, he ended up falling asleep, and the next day the light in bathroom were still on. They contacted the hotel staff to open up the bathroom door, to find her dead body. After Jocelyn's death, x was pretty devastated, it was second person that he found after suicide. First one was his uncle when x was younger, he came back from school to find his uncle hanging from the balcony.
Jah previewed this song 3 days before Jocelyn passed away brotha, it was originally written for Geneva, the the whole situation with Jocelyn happened days after
I have a different way of interpretate eh song, on a way more of like; him burying a part of him alongside of his partner, as if everything remains in the past kind of thing... But he's introspective tells that he's probably the only one that couldn't get out of the misery that break up left him. "You thouht that I would let it go and let you walk", talking about her being on his mind, he could not let it go, he trapped a memory in him... "In my grave I'll rot", he burried all of himself in his grave, symbolising that he couldn't move on from there, he got stuck in the sadness.
thank you so much Stu! hearing you validate his emotions in these songs is so relieving. especially when you react to Juice WRLD, my favorite artist. Would love to hear you react to Sometimes - Juice WRLD, and Feel Alone - Juice WRLD. i know you get many suggestions but these two are gold !!
3:05 When embarking on a journey of revenge you must first dig two graves. One is for your enemy and one for yourself as you will destroy yourself in your attempts to hurt them.
To me it sounds like that instead of bringing this "other person" into the "the grave" he has dug for them, he prefers to let them go. This hurts causing him pain but gives them freedom. X feels like letting them go is unfair to him so he contemplates revenge but in the end decides to self loathe ("rot in the grave").
mother I sober by Kendrick Lamar is absolutely perfect for what you do. It is a very deep and personal song that talks through Kendrick’s trauma that he had to deal with growing up and how it effects him now. Really hope you can get to this song it is so important for people to hear especially with how healing the song truly is. Would love for you to check it out, appreciate the videos
personally i think the ending asking about his pain being your freedom relates to how we as a community we consumed his content alot of us looked to him to help regulate the emotions we felt in our darkest times through his music this couldve been his realization of that
this is off his album "17", it has a way deeper meaning than you alone can gather because if you were to listen to his intro into the album, you would know that he says that "17" is his number and that this album has his whole mind in it and it is literally us listening to his mind and thoughts, this reflects his mental state at the time of the album coming out and says so much about him
It's almost impossible to get the messages of these songs in real time. Most of the time, you'd have to actually experience it in real time then it's in that moment you'd realise damn this was what X was talking about!
Oh okay, I’ll get one uploaded in the next few days! I’ve got a few reactions that I’ve filmed but I need time to edit the video screen record and my camera etc. I’ll prioritise the juice wrld ones !
The lyrics of “Revenge” touch upon themes of regret, heartbreak, and the desire for revenge. In the opening lines, X acknowledges his past mistakes and attempts to forgive himself. It’s a vulnerable admission that many of us can relate to-the struggle to come to terms with our own flaws. X sings, “I’ve dug two graves for us, my dear / Can’t pretend that I was perfect, leaving you in fear.” These lines convey a sense of guilt and an acknowledgement of the pain he may have caused someone he cared about. The repetition of this verse emphasizes the weight of his regrets. The chorus, “In my grave, I’ll rot,” serves as a metaphorical expression of the pain and suffering he carries within himself. It’s a haunting reminder that our actions have consequences and can leave lasting scars. “Revenge” is a song dedicated to X’s late friend, Jocelyn Flores, who tragically took her own life while visiting him. Through the song, X reflects on the profound impact her death had on him and explores his own feelings of guilt and grief. It’s a deeply personal and cathartic piece that allows him to process his emotions. The release of “Revenge” as the single to promote his debut album, 17, highlights its significance to X’s overall artistic vision and the importance he placed on honoring his friend’s memory. As a listener, I find solace in the vulnerability and honesty of this song. It serves as a reminder that we all have our own battles to fight and that music can be a cathartic outlet for processing our pain. “Revenge” will forever hold a special place in my heart as a testament to the transformative power of music. Rest in paradise, Jahseh Onfroy, known to the world as XXXTentacion. Your impact on music and the lives of many will be remembered. Your raw talent and emotional depth resonated with countless fans. Though you may have left us, your legacy lives on through your music and the profound influence you had on those who connected with your art. You will be dearly missed, but your voice will continue to echo through the ages. -With love, Angel.
17 has always had a special place in my heart because some of his experiences are not too different to some of mine and the lyric from revenge which I always think of is ‘broken hearts break bones’ bc that has been a recurring theme every time u have a breakup whether it’s from my time in drugs and I got worse or self harm or what but I always end up with something broken
I Believe this song is a reference to his Jocelyn Flores who committed suicide. He speaks about broken hearts because of his her passing. He says is my pain your freedom because he is in pain on the earth while his she supposedly gave herself freedom from life. The line "I've dug two graves for us my dear" is saying he might take his own life in his grief. And finally he is talking about revenge because he is mad at her for taking her life.
The worst and most heartbreaking part about his death was that he suffered immensely from depression and wanted to take his own life but someone else took his life when he was on the road to recovery...
I interpret the ”I’ve dug two graves for us my dear“, more as in that his issues pulled his significant other down with him, due to the follow up ”can’t pretend that I was perfect leaving you in fear“.
I think think that in this song X is trying to express how he wants to be together with a loved one forever but they together seem to have some difficulties.
The song is about revenge and there's a japanese saying that goes like " before you go seeking revenge you should dig two graves" or atleast that's what I think
When he says “in my grave I’ll rot” the line before he says “I don’t want to let it go”. So I think he is being aware of his two beings, his soul and his body. I think he is saying that he (his body) will rot away and he will stay (his soul) on earth. A lot of times it is said souls stay on earth due to a held on grudge. Maybe this is what he is referring to in his song ? Because this girl broke up with him and broke his heart but apparently she led this relationship on for a long time because he says “broken hearts break bones so break up fast”.
from my point of view hes is not singing to a broken relationship hes talking about the thought of having revenge against someone or something and about the mixed feelings hes going through while he contemplates hes decision making. again this is my point of view nice reaction !
from what i know X felt very alone and depressed for much of his childhood and would fight and get into trouble on purpose to get attention from his Mom, and in terms of trauma at an age no older than 15 he came home from school one day to see his uncle hanging by his neck… fucking brutal to say the least. i really wish he had a longer life to prove that he could become a positive person to spite the conditions from which he came from. Rip Jahseh, i still miss you dearly
The line where he said “I’ve dug two graves for us my dear” is believed to be a reference to the famous Chinese philosopher Confucius quote “before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves”
Really enjoying your reactions. I’m looking forward to seeing more Juice Wrld and Xxxtentacion! It’d be really great to see you react to Yungeen ace he has a lot of content for you to break down, his song “Pain” would be a great one to start with. Excited to see more videos from you
to myself, "ive dug two graves for us my dear" means he felt the hole he dug for himself directly effected the other person, jocelyn flores took her life around the time this music was made
When you dig to graves it means that even if you get rid of your enemy you better be ready to bury yourself as well, or known that you won't make it out of the situation unscathed. The guilt will eventually consume you, someone that knows who you killed will eventually come for you, or the law will eventually come for you. In the end you too will be dead in one way, or another.
i think the point x was trying to convey here was that instead of revenge he has learned forgiveness he mentions he dug two graves which is his seeking revenge and then states he will rot in his grave which is a kind of change of heart he isnt talking about a past relationship but could be about his mother that couldnt do as much as she or he wanted to as a kid and instead of him hating his mother he accepted and knew the entire time that he should love her and respect the decision and way his life hw was brought up and let his past not change but make him who he was before he passed away
I know nothing about X but my take from this song has always been that he was in a toxic, volatile relationship, maybe violent (i left you in fear, broken hearts break bones so break up before that happens) but he cant let it go, so he'll "rot" over it now its over. But the intro shows the hope that hes moving on and forgiving himself for his own toxic behaviour. I find it really nice actually, sometimes people just arent good for each other and it doesnt mean they are inherently bad or can't grow.
His friend took her life in a hotel bathroom. He fell asleep and she went into the bathroom, and the next day she was still in the washroom, they found her dead in the bathroom. Jocelyn flores and revenge are about that girl who committed suicide.
Long story short: X flew over 2 girls for a photo shoot, one of those 2 stole quite a bit of money that was laying around, neither girl confessed and so X cancelled the shoot, then one of the 2 killed themselves (Jocelyn Flores) this song (Revenge) and the song "Jocelyn Flores" (named after the girl) are both about her & his thoughts after those events
You are overthinking the two graves thing. There is this famous quote- "before you embark on a journey on revenge, dig two graves". X just means he's gonna take revenge on whoever hurt him. "In my grave I'll rot" is just a testament of his dedication to take vengeance
I think Jah is speaking to his fans and listeners when he says "is my pain your freedom", for me his music gave me conform that I wasn't alone, many of you may agree to this being true, especially with X's music. then he says enjoy LLJ🕊
Face to face by Juice wrld is a song that, i personally believe explores some interesting and common struggles with sleep paralysis and it would be cool if I could hear your take on the song. Just found the channel and think the vids are awesome. Keep up the awesome content!
I think what he meant with dug two graves like, they werent perfect for eachother so kind of did bring eachother down, but then again they love eachother alot so they are burried together
I honestly think he’s saying he’s enacting revenge on himself for her, he dug 2 graves one for him and one for her but he will rot in his so that she can live freely, his pain is her freedom
“in my grave i’ll rot” means to sit and dwell on the past that mollified you and to grow onto it and learn, expressing and learning about life and how to avoid these things instead of being petty and seeking out revenge to harm the individual in mention to the most of his capabilities.
X was a really interesting individual and currently still my biggest idol. I would recommend you watch the "look at me" documentary (about his life). It's here on youtube and offers great insights, especially on his toxic, abusive relationship
I think when he says is my pain your freedom he is talking directly to us …….asking if him sharing his pain allows us freedom from our own then almost as a response he says enjoy
It takes a lot to be able to understand these lyrics, either from being a fan of Jah, or going through something similar to him. Usually the people would listen to his music is people who can relate to his songs and the things he says.
My intake when listening to revenge iv dug two graves for the pain we go thru together ride or die feeling due to Aquarius's value very much friendships and relationships
I would imagine that "revenge" may not be for another person but towards himself as in the song lyrics he is constantly blaming himself for the "break up", he is willing to do things to himself saying things like "is my pain your freedom" as well as "enjoy". We can imagine that maybe he blames himself so much for it that he is willing to do things just for the other person to feel a sort of release from him.
A bit late here, and someone's probably already said it, but X always said he just wanted his music to help people. The "Is my pain your freedom? Enjoy." I think is directly to the listener. He's hoping that by sharing his pain through music someone else might find solace in it. In knowing they are not alone in their pain. That's how I interpreted it anyways.
i believe the enjoy goes with what he said before in the end and means enjoy my pain as your freedom. since its most probably about a relationship there is no single answer what he means with is my pain your freedom. it is art and everyone can think of their own way to interpret it just like in a painting. we are just not used to that in music since we mostly only know it from paintings
"He who seeks revenge must remember to dig two graves" With that being said "In my grave, i'll rot" is referring to making the decision to take revenge and accepting the consequences that may come.
It comes from the saying that says "when taking revenge be sure to dig two graves" because to guarantee your success in revenge you must be willing to die aswell to achieve success. This is basic in "the wisdom of old" so to speak. Surely they taught you this during University?

Thanks for sharing, the gives a lot more context
Revenge was dedicated to his Ex girlfriend Genevea not Jocelyn Flores, but The song Jocelyn FLores By X was.
@@ItsKennedy nope, both Revange and Jocelyn Flores were dedicated to her. As for songs dedicated to Geneva from album 17, that was the Ayala (outro).
bro its so sad that he had to see such horrifying and heartbreaking things while growing up
Jah previewed this song 3 days before Jocelyn passed away brotha, it was originally written for Geneva, the the whole situation with Jocelyn happened days after
I have a different way of interpretate eh song, on a way more of like; him burying a part of him alongside of his partner, as if everything remains in the past kind of thing...
That makes sense, that’s a great interpretation thanks for sharing
thank you so much for keeping his name alive bro
thank you so much Stu! hearing you validate his emotions in these songs is so relieving. especially when you react to Juice WRLD, my favorite artist.
Mmmmmmmm🤔
Thanks Tyler, added to my list.
@@TherapistReactsOfficialI completely agree with that recommendation
personally i think the ending asking about his pain being your freedom relates to how we as a community we consumed his content
alot of us looked to him to help regulate the emotions we felt in our darkest times through his music
this couldve been his realization of that
this is off his album "17", it has a way deeper meaning than you alone can gather because if you were to listen to his intro into the album, you would know that he says that "17" is his number and that this album has his whole mind in it and it is literally us listening to his mind and thoughts, this reflects his mental state at the time of the album coming out and says so much about him
X is truly a genius. May he rest in peace🕊️🙏
It's almost impossible to get the messages of these songs in real time. Most of the time, you'd have to actually experience it in real time then it's in that moment you'd realise damn this was what X was talking about!
When in the song he says “I’ve dig two graves for us my dear” he saying if I’m going to take my life I’ll also take yours
Even if he's dead, he's still alive, this is Gekyume. Don't cry bacause he died, smile because he existed
I cant wait anymore for those Juice Reactions. Im checking every single day if they are out.
Oh okay, I’ll get one uploaded in the next few days! I’ve got a few reactions that I’ve filmed but I need time to edit the video screen record and my camera etc. I’ll prioritise the juice wrld ones !
@@TherapistReactsOfficial jes dont stress jourself, take your time to make the best video possible
The meaning “I’ve dug two graves for us my dear” means he’s going to die and the second grave is for his loved one once they die
You will be dearly missed, but your voice will continue to echo through the ages. -With love, Angel.

Thanks so much for taking the time comment - made my day!
@@TherapistReactsOfficial thank you for replying to my comment that made my day
When he Said to answer your question X fr it hurts so bad that his no longer with us but will Stay in our hearts
I can't even imagine a therapist reacting to my playlist 😂
The worst and most heartbreaking part about his death was that he suffered immensely from depression and wanted to take his own life but someone else took his life when he was on the road to recovery...
rest in peace X i'm sure that if you keep this channel up you will have more subscribers really soon. goo luck man
Thanks. To be honest I just enjoy doing it, and people seem to like it so I’m gonna keep doing it.
I interpret the ”I’ve dug two graves for us my dear“, more as in that his issues pulled his significant other down with him, due to the follow up ”can’t pretend that I was perfect leaving you in fear“.
I think think that in this song X is trying to express how he wants to be together with a loved one forever but they together seem to have some difficulties.
you seem like a genuine dude keep doing what ur doing!
Thanks for the supportive comment.
The song is about revenge and there's a japanese saying that goes like " before you go seeking revenge you should dig two graves" or atleast that's what I think
You should hear "Orlando" or "save me" by xxx tentacion those are a must to listen to since ur a therapist
“Is my pain your freedom” his meaning behind it is her making him suffer makes her happy
nah man this song made me cry when he said i've dug two graves for us my dear' man that hurts me so much
R.I.P. legend
No joke I cry sometimes when i think about X, I never knew him personaly but his music was always something that hekped me, Hurts to think about him
The line where he said “I’ve dug two graves for us my dear” is believed to be a reference to the famous Chinese philosopher Confucius quote “before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves”
Really enjoying your reactions. I’m looking forward to seeing more Juice Wrld and Xxxtentacion! It’d be really great to see you react to Yungeen ace he has a lot of content for you to break down, his song “Pain” would be a great one to start with. Excited to see more videos from you
to myself, "ive dug two graves for us my dear" means he felt the hole he dug for himself directly effected the other person, jocelyn flores took her life around the time this music was made
This makes me want to listen to X again
Long story short:
X flew over 2 girls for a photo shoot, one of those 2 stole quite a bit of money that was laying around, neither girl confessed and so X cancelled the shoot, then one of the 2 killed themselves (Jocelyn Flores) this song (Revenge) and the song "Jocelyn Flores" (named after the girl) are both about her & his thoughts after those events
i was literally crying and then he said in his wonderful british accent "Break bones"
The line "I've dug two graves for us my dear" is speaking about his friend who committed suicide
My pain is your freedom. it basically means his pain gets put into a song for us to enjoy and free our minds. Something for us to relate to ig.
The way u said “ to answer your question X” I broke down because you said it like he was still with us and if he was but he’s not 😔
Love how he vibes to it😂
Face to face by Juice wrld is a song that, i personally believe explores some interesting and common struggles with sleep paralysis and it would be cool if I could hear your take on the song. Just found the channel and think the vids are awesome. Keep up the awesome content!
if only x was still here to see this vid, rest easy king.
I think what he meant with dug two graves like, they werent perfect for eachother so kind of did bring eachother down, but then again they love eachother alot so they are burried together
Juice and x helped me make it thru 🙏🏽
Yooo great job TheRapist
I honestly think he’s saying he’s enacting revenge on himself for her, he dug 2 graves one for him and one for her but he will rot in his so that she can live freely, his pain is her freedom
“in my grave i’ll rot” means to sit and dwell on the past that mollified you and to grow onto it and learn, expressing and learning about life and how to avoid these things instead of being petty and seeking out revenge to harm the individual in mention to the most of his capabilities.
X, was quite the character and philosopher despite him not having experience in the job.
Thanks, that makes sense.
0:52 song starts😊
X was a really interesting individual and currently still my biggest idol. I would recommend you watch the "look at me" documentary (about his life). It's here on youtube and offers great insights, especially on his toxic, abusive relationship
Oh I’ll certainly check that out. Didn’t know that was a thing so thanks for sharing
I think when he says is my pain your freedom he is talking directly to us …….asking if him sharing his pain allows us freedom from our own then almost as a response he says enjoy
Yeah that’s a really good point
It takes a lot to be able to understand these lyrics, either from being a fan of Jah, or going through something similar to him. Usually the people would listen to his music is people who can relate to his songs and the things he says.
My intake when listening to revenge iv dug two graves for the pain we go thru together ride or die feeling due to Aquarius's value very much friendships and relationships
ofc he’s an aquarius (as an aquarius i should’ve known ❤)
I would imagine that "revenge" may not be for another person but towards himself as in the song lyrics he is constantly blaming himself for the "break up", he is willing to do things to himself saying things like "is my pain your freedom" as well as "enjoy". We can imagine that maybe he blames himself so much for it that he is willing to do things just for the other person to feel a sort of release from him.
Juice and him is so alike but from x u should listen to 777 he talks about a lot and juice wrld listen to dark place very sad
777 is some real fan shit
rip XXXTENTACION fly high 🕊🕊😭😭🕊🕊
Rip X miss him so much, hope he is flyning high in heaven
A bit late here, and someone's probably already said it, but X always said he just wanted his music to help people. The "Is my pain your freedom? Enjoy." I think is directly to the listener. He's hoping that by sharing his pain through music someone else might find solace in it. In knowing they are not alone in their pain. That's how I interpreted it anyways.
Depression and obsession is one of my favs from x I think youd like the insight
Ok I think we can all agree he didn't really get the full meaning but he still had good points
i believe the enjoy goes with what he said before in the end and means enjoy my pain as your freedom. since its most probably about a relationship there is no single answer what he means with is my pain your freedom. it is art and everyone can think of their own way to interpret it just like in a painting. we are just not used to that in music since we mostly only know it from paintings
"He who seeks revenge must remember to dig two graves"
With that being said "In my grave, i'll rot" is referring to making the decision to take revenge and accepting the consequences that may come.
"a running theme from x's tracks" - sir u are not ready for the switch ups
We miss you down here x nobody has or will ever do what you did the way you did it🖤
It comes from the saying that says "when taking revenge be sure to dig two graves" because to guarantee your success in revenge you must be willing to die aswell to achieve success. This is basic in "the wisdom of old" so to speak. Surely they taught you this during University?
