    This helped a lot. I just started braiding my own hair, and I'll definitely take this advice as I've used most of these products but never for braids and at once. Looking forward to my results! Thanks!!

    Hello..I'm a braider in The Bahamas. I've tried using both shine n jam and let's jam, honestly I fell in love with let's jam. It gives my braids an outstanding look! I love it, my fav❤❤

      AriesChic Pinder I gotta try let’s jam. I used to use it in my hair. But that was just to slick it up, but it would always sweat out lol.

      Let’s jam is what I use as well. It’s old school and what I used as a teen growing up.
      I honestly thought they were the same product until I can across your comment 🫣

    Im a beginner braider and I used the red shine and jam, the shine and jam setting mouse. These products have changed my braiding life. I just got the itch on my braids and dont have anything but my mango and lime for my scalp. I actually just made a strong peppermint tea to spray on my scalp and it helped. Because my hair is mixed and not as curly as black hair i avoid washing my braids bc i know how much fuzz it will create. But im thinking of washing it and rinsing it through a dew rag and see if that helps wash away the oil and dirt from my scalp without disturbing my braids and creating frizz. Great vid but one question.
    Why do you prefer the yellow over the red shine and jam?
    I saw one braider said its watered down as they changed the formula. What are your thoughts?

    Ohk so in South Africa,we hardly use gel on braids... So question, doesn't the gel flake after like weeks of wearing the braids? Don't you get white residue or dandruff from it?

    • @ShannonMarie
      @ShannonMarie  4 роки тому +10

      Nompilo Sibiya Not at all! The consistency is more oil based than water based. So I’ve never experienced flaking with this product & neither has any of my clients. I wish you were able to try it to see what I meant. It’s the best thing ever for braids!

    Is it a very oily product? Does it give a crunchy hold?
    I have long natural type 4 hair which gets frizzy quickly. I want to insert some medium sized twists as a protective style and want to use a product that will keep my hair looking fresh.
    I went to a hair store today and the salesperson convinced me to buy Dark and lovely Let's Jam (extra hold conditioning gel) instead. I hate it. It's oily and gives zero hold. Have you used that product before? How does it compare to the Shine n Jam? I wish I had seen your video before visiting the hair store. Thanks for your response. 🙂

    • @ShannonMarie

    Hello, I’m starting to braid my own hair, friends & families. I was wondering what’s another product I can use for parting I find shine & jam slippery? Do you think Murray’s edge wax is good or Hicks? I’ve seen a few youtubers use it

    • @ShannonMarie
      @ShannonMarie  4 роки тому +2

      Cancerbabbyyy you could! I just feel that those products would cause way too much build up. You can use what you find is best. But the shine and jam doesn’t leave buildup and isn’t as sticky as those products.

    My hair was severely damaged using that gel. And my hair is bra length when it was in box braids.. I had to cut it. Didn't mind but my question is my hair is extremely dry. Using just gel isn't moisturizing to my hair in box braids. Can something else be used with the gel so my hair won't break? I've only had box braids once and never did it again after that.
