One thing I need to mention. I checked many video for "How to Fit a Backpack" but they never mention about where should locate the waist belt but Dave mentioned it----------------------->"Top of the waist belt should be about 1 inch above the iliac crest". Thanks again Dave
Great detail on adjusting torso length.
I couldn't find a video with torso adjustment, here it is. Nice informative video, Thank you!
Excellent job on this video! Very useful-helpful information - very clearly communicated. Thank you EMS!
Informative video. Thanks Dave & Abby. Just what I was looking for before packing for my trip.
Thanks or this. I nearly returned a pack thinking it was too big for me, but turned out I just had the weight loader straps done up too tight, making the shoulder straps raise to high off my shoulders.
Informative video. Thanks Dave & Abby. this is what everyone needs to know before going for backpack shopping. I did not know about these adjustment and I ordered (from UK) my Osprey Atmos AG 50L large and after arrived found out I needed a M size bag. For me was too late and could n't afford to send it back (shipping cost was too high), and had to buy a used M size. I think this video is the full 3:28 minute cours for "How to Fit a Backpack". Many thanks in advance Dave for sharing this.
Great instructional video the best one I've seen so far. Thanks
Exactly what I was looking for! I'm saving up for an Osprey Aether 60 or 70 that has the torso adjustment, but wasn't sure how it should be adjusted to fit me...thanks a ton!
I LOVE EMS! You guys rock!!
Just successfully fitted my Osprey Talon 44 thanks to this vid!
A long time ago EMS was a pretty good store.
Good concise information.
Question:Is it better to get a commercial or military style pack. I'm a former Marine who is used to "humping" a medium or large Alice pack or other military system. I want to start hiking and camping, but I'm unsure which way is best. In the Marines you don't get to choose from all the features and stuff in the regular world. Any help would be appreciated.
so where ahould i put the heavy items in my bag?top middle or bottom?
Woodsman Tonahuac I'm a year late, but it might help out other people reading, so whatever.
Heavy items that you won't use during the day, such as a tent and a bag/quilt, should be at the bottom of the pack. You don't want to have to dig through your tent, bag, and pad to find your snacks for the day.
@@seahpo6737 I'm two years late, but still might help out others going through comments. 1- Sleeping bag/quit should go at the bottom of the pack (items are not heavy), 2- Tent, BEARVAULT/foods should go in the middle of the back (items are heavy), just behind your back, 3- snacks, medical kits, rain jacket\pants, tarp,..... going at the top for easy access during the day.
65% on the hips?
I'd say about 80% at least.
i can't imagine this...80% at the hip(bone)? at 20kg(44pounds) in the backpack, that were 16kg(13,3pounds) direct at the bone...i mean after a few hours that must be the hell of pain..
is there a study for that opionon?
i was years in the army and wear a heavy backpack most of the time...without any hip support and it was "wearable"...
Kumpel Blase
Used to jog wearing boots. Unthinkable for most with all of the fancy jogging shoes around 🤗
at least 70% - 80% of the total weight load are to be at your traps (top rear neck) .... notice at how the Sherpa carrying their load
@@buddybubble3264 The correct way is at least 75% - 90% load weight at the top trapezius area ua-cam.com/video/EhXDnQEgRqg/v-deo.html
Best video I found, i am lost , I had an old military bag circa 1969 and it was cutting off circulation to my head it was so tight , now I have loaner a Gregory deva a woman bag and I feel that I can’t get it situated right , I know it’s a woman’s bag , but I just wanted it to put 60 lbs in it and train, I feel like some one is pulling me back and I have to lean forward to keep weight n a good place , when I stand up in good posture the hip belt , even tho snug slides down .. I’m embarrassed to go to a retailer and ask for help becaue I didn’t buy at their store ..
She is so beautiful
@jcsigma: Go ultralight. No reason not to now.
One thing I could n't understand the are 28 dislike about this video, went through comments and could n't find any think to justify that. Not sure what are the things that they did not like about this video, but they might have a better video than this but not sure where they posting them, in UA-cam or in their head!!!
This pack is much too big for the lady- this is not professional.
I've seen girls carry backpacks even larger than this one. Whether it's healthy for them is another story, but some gals go big and heavy (sometimes 50 lbs or more).
"Hes weird"
is the woman working for victoria's secret ?
that Dude is creepy lookin
She should be carrying less stuff and a smaller pack. Go ultralightweight!
Its a demonstration video, moron
