I'm a Mexican who did time in in level four and this man is saying the truth. 1989 I took shahada and experienced what he went through. Mexicans (southerners) did not like blacks and if you were socializing with them, you'd be targeted. Being a Muslim in prison was not easy, but it did help me better my life now that I'm free. Ali Siddiq, my respects to you.

As DL said, the funny is rooted in the truth, and your sincere delivery of the dialogue as you heard it spoken to you and by you is where the humor lies. Too often, Black people and our stories are told from the perspective of white writers and sometimes assimilated black writers attempting to acquiesce to a “wider audience”. But your unfiltered nuances shine through and give unique life to a story that you may find interesting, but otherwise humorless. Keep going.
Put it into perspective Al Ameen and Mustapha was the ones that interrupted him from stabbing Mitchell and Al Ameen is the same dude that gets his throat cut in this story. DAMN reality of prison experience is sobering.

He makes you feel the degradation he felt when Mitchel forced him to strip and all the unnecessary steps he demanded in his quest to humiliate another human because he had a small amount of power.
