    If you dig under the Elder's location, you can fit a decent sized base under there and ofc it's indestructible, so great for defence against raids. You keep saying you are rambling too much, but I like the inner monologue where you go through the options you have/want to take, it adds to the fun. Great episode, it's was great to see you get back on track traversing with no map.

    45:10 "No this wasn't it."
    I think it was man, but I'm not sure either.
    lmao, fog has been the bane of seamen throughout history, don't feel bad Hiccup. I also loved the teeny tiny swamp. And the troll battle was harrowing. Between the no map and hardcore settings this is a nail biter of a playthrough and I'm happy that you show all the ups and downs.

    11:38 Thats blueberry (blåbär) and raspberry (hallon)!
    Blåbär is pronounced as å=swedish o so like o in door and the ä same as a in the word sad.
    (Im Finnish but we learn swedish in school so someone swedish can correct me 😄)
    Good to have you back!

      Eh, whatever.. it is customary to pet them excessively whenever you go to Hildir on my server at least 😂

    Just had to tell you how much I enjoy watching you. I love Valheim and have been playing since April of 2021. I love your personality and how easy going you are when things don't always go right. LOL (lost at sea). But your misadventures are good entertainment for your followers. But best ever is your first playthrough when you never put a head on the stones and had such a hard time figuring out what to sacrifice to each boss. I loved it. This season so far is my next favorite of yours. So much fun to watch the challenge. Be seeing you in your next video.

    After watching you look so hard on the mistlands play through for Hildir I was in tears laughing at this find! That's my kinda luck lol. You don't ramble too much in my opinion, and the getting lost isn't dry. I still say kudos for going no map, even more so since I know I'd give up. GG!

    Was nice that you started using trails again - was even enjoyable seeing you building a road diwn to the Meadows, making a sneaky riad to take beside the Draugar village that might even connect to one of your sea sheds to make ut easier not to miss it when running by the shore. Tip: if you ckear the road of bushes and trees it will not only be faster running on the roads, but making them easier to see - where you also can make trench-like roads suitable for carts as well as even more easily seen roads with some help from the pick.

    The episodes where you got lost were very fun to watch because it was always a gamble as to if you were going to find your way back. I thought you were just going to have to build a new base but then you died and got back to your original base. You have another karve out there some where. If you find it then you will have an idea of where you are. All of these clues that you leave as you adventure ultimately help you in the end. The thing with Haldor is that you really don't know if you got turned right or left as that storm raged and you fought that serpent. It will be worth it, I think, to try to find him again. You have the benefit of knowing approximately where he is.
    Congrats of finding the Elder.

    Welcome back, as you get into your second life. That starter island is really a continent, as you say. Never seen a starter spot that runs all into plains. I'm more curious than ever to see the map of this thing. Maybe share your seed eventually, and I'll start a run myself.
    With such a huge landmass, following the coast with the karve, and putting up mile-markers regularly seem a good thing. Maybe numbering tham from the home loc.

    • @lizvanwessem2055
      @lizvanwessem2055 2 місяці тому

      or rather than mile markers, sight markers? as in line-of-sight (whether that's rez sight or terrain sight)

    • @haakontangvald-pedersen8374
      @haakontangvald-pedersen8374 2 місяці тому

      Oh, and you know that Haldor is on an island facing the 'local' ocean. So no going through channels or straits or such. Just follow the island shores; I would say lright side from your local position facing the Elder.

    I've commented against no map, but not because I think its boring... It's like when you have a friend with a problem, and you're worried about the harm he is doing to himself...

      I like the nomapprinter mod. You still have to navigate without live updates, and you still have to have an idea of where you are, but can still use the map to try and reorient yourself. Doesn't help on those foggy nights at sea however. . . LOL.

    Always refreshing to watch a new episode. That 7hp remaining from the troll hit was clutch. The recklessness is truly entertaining hahaha. I'd still advise building a trail around your starter island considering it's big enough to have 4 biomes. I bet you could even find a respectable mountain there. The trail would probably save you a lot of time even in off camera grinding and material farming.

    Also if you want to be safer in the Black Forest, build on top of the greydwarf towers, that way, trolls won't be able to get you. Building in trees makes you vulnerable to troll attacks that can chop your tree base down.

    • @Matakshaman
      @Matakshaman 2 місяці тому +1

      Trolls can very easily destroy the towers too.

    • @KPRoof
      @KPRoof 2 місяці тому +1

      @@Matakshaman If you spend 2 minutes watching the troll attack the tower... yes, but it is stil safer than buiding in the trees or anywhere else given their aoe affacks that can go through walls.
      On top of the greydwarf towers is the safest for a camp in the Black Forest.
      Trolls can chop down a tree in one swing, but is takes 2-3 minutes to take down a tower.

    The best thing I found is to just build actual monument-markers out on peninsulas and rocks that are easy to see from the sea. I shaped them like a giant arrow, and oriented them consistently like a compass that's the same everywhere. This helps you learn where things are relative to each other.
    In my no-map run I had lots of islands so I built each marker with a unique symbol per island. At the end of the run I turned the map back on, and it turns out my mental map was pretty damn spot on. Really fun.

    • @sociallyferal4237
      @sociallyferal4237 2 місяці тому

      I've just started a nomap run myself after watching a few videos like this one. A agree with the arrows. I'm using a 2x2m pole with the like 26' angled walls to point towards base. Also have a standing torch, since they don't run out of wood. Put a main road each cardinal direction and a branching road if there is something good that way. And a signpost at the junction pointing baseward and what the branch is.
      That said - I have just built a boat, so not really gone far to worry about other islands, but I think an arrow on first landpoint I find to point homeward will do most of a trick.

    Woohoo! Way to go, you found Hildir! That's awesome too. I've not found her either. OOH, you've got lots of biomes on your starter island!! That's sure what I'd want if I were going to try a no-map run. Heck, I like having lots of biomes anyhow - and if you need to go grab metal or something further out you just sail up the coast. Nice!

    Yayyy you found him, nice job and hilder to boot. Following the world tree is the best for navigating about, spawn is always to the east and the tree point east, sunrise and west sunset I think. Also if you use the bed on the hammer to keep your directions helps because the bed has the headboard so you which way is right, but ya doing great and I like the rambling lol😊😊

    You REALLY need to continue doing what you did in the first episode, and build a grid of roads. No map, no roads, no signs... do roads and signs even when I play with maps. Build roads and bridges between all bases - I even repair and rebuild all towers I find, to include them in my way grid, and make roads wide enough to travel with a cart even from my mines. Takes a bit of extra effort, but if you hold shift while evening out terrain (not just using "Pathen") then you will do it fairly easily - pump up with Stamina foods while doing it in safe areas - will feel like an accomplishment to "tame" and "civilize' an area as being your own territory, and if you get the roads straight enough you will also save time running between places.

      Only sealed Tower is really unique and can be spotted from great distances... but not quite ready for any of them for a while anyway....
      Much better navigation!
