Jails were a breeding ground for COVID. Releasing people from jail was done to help minimize deaths from COVID.

Obviously this situation is about a person (who happened to be Amish) who is selling milk which has not gone through the well proven process of making it safe for consumption. We've known about the risks associated with raw milk for many decades.

As someone who grew up this way, never once did anyone get sick from eating meat, or vegetables produced on these farms. Yet, almost everyday massive amounts of meats, or vegetables are recalled in the US, or people actually get sick. Amish farmers know far more about food safety than FBI agents, or a as my authorities.

Same, my grandparents used to grow all of their food including chicken, cow, goat, even fish products. I notice the difference when I started eating more in fast food places and all of the trash food with preservatives and fake aditives.

Thank you for reminding the law-enforcement personnel who participated in this insane raid that they should have done as the Oath Keepers organization proclaimed and simply refused to follow an illegal/unlawful order. Oath Keepers draws a lot of Federal heat for maintaining that every cop and soldier has a moral duty to honor their Oath. This sort of tyrannical violation of a good American's life should never have been executed, and all those who did this moral outrage have completely violated their Oath to support and defend the Constitution.

I may not understand their lifestyle, but I have nothing but respect for the Amish and their ability to live happily the way they do. This is just annoying af, knowing that these good people are being harassed in this way.
In fairness it is a bit hypocritical the way they live. They claim to live apart but they pick and choose the aspects of modern society that suit them. They don't drive but hire others to drive them around when they need it. They use the roads but don't pay for them. They pay very little in taxes. They have their own schools but not their own fire, police or medical assets. They could not survive as they do without all the "English" around them subsidizing their existence with technology (and purchasing from them). Overall nice people but a bit of a sham.

(e) Miller’s had been operating its meat and poultry business without a USDA-FSIS Federal Grant of Inspection and (with rare exception) without taking its livestock and poultry for slaughter and processing to any federally inspected facility; and
(f) defendants had not yet changed Miller’s business model to attempt to qualify for an exemption from federal inspection under the Acts for any part of their operations.

My family lived just a few miles from here for 25 yrs. And we know about this farm. It is heaven on earth. Amos is a kind and gentle soul that just wants to make a living and support his family and the Amish community.

I have ordered food from his farm for several years. He is a kind and gentle man. I met him a few years ago. He is trusting God's will in this matter and we are all praying for justice for him. The feds are really being unfair.

The Amish are religious, so that is likely another reason for targeting the Amish. Was the USDA involved? Is this under the purview of the US marshals, or is it another overstepping of another government agency? I’d rather risk my luck with Amish food rather than mass produced cricket-flour which the government approves us consuming. There are too many unanswered questions regarding this clip.

The USDA is involved I have been keeping up with this story. It’s local. It’s disgusting how the USDA treats the Amish. I buy A LOT from the local Mennonite community and have quite a few friends. As a lady, I love other Mennonite ladies and the level of skills it takes to maintain their lifestyle. The USDA is under the impression that the food they grow is not safe because they use old styles of food preparation. The rules are so crazy. For example I make jellies and jams. If I wanted to sell my my jams I would have to put a large sticker on them stating that it is prepared in a home kitchen. If I gift the same item I could be in legal trouble…all because the jam is sealed. I do not know the exact stabilization date on every single jar I make because it is NOT full of preservatives. Same with my Mennonite friends. So we always suggest consumption within a month or sniff test the food. But seriously it’s common sense to not eat spoiled food.
I think the USDA is important for bad actors. But it is not always fair to the little guy. Look at the baby formula issues…is that not the same as someone buying a bad jar of jam and coming back to me to exchange it free of charge?

I have family living in Ontario Canada and I was informed that farmers need permits to sell to the public so many of the roadside stands are by donation. I think the US is not far behind it's northern neighbor!

It's not entirely correct. They have a symbiotic relationship with the modern world and they certainly rely on many of the things that modern society provides them. My daughter works at a place that knows this whole story. His fines have been paid.
Back in 15-16 the FDA came in and told him he couldn’t sell to the public but he could sell to members. That’s what everyone did, they became members. His business thrived. Now that wasn’t good enough for the FDA so they want to shut him down. The Amish community in our area won’t let that happen! I live close by to this.

None that I have heard of. It’s becoming more and more common for people in this area to buy large portions of local meat from each other. I’ve never had a concern over it. How is Amos’ business different than a neighbor sharing a deer?
HE IS STILL SELLING ON LINE ! AMISH ? ON LINE SALES ? SO DEATHS FROM NOT PASTEURIZING IS SOME HOW OKAY ? How many others GOT SICK ? It all started in 2016, when two listeriosis illnesses that occured in 2014 were traced back to raw milk sold by Miller’s Organic Farm. Both infected people had to be hospitalized, and one tragically died from the illness.
The USDA has been trying to bring the farm into compliance with federal regulations ever since, but it’s been a long hard series of court battles, in part because Miller has been, by his own admission, less than fully co-operative with the government. Miller is facing fines and jail time for his actions.

You have no idea what you're talking about. This farmer has been in a years long dispute with the FDA over his refusal to follow food safety regulations. Judges and regulators have bent over backwards to help him comply with the law but he refuses. We first discovered he wasn't following regulations when one of his customers actually died from consuming his listeria tainted milk. But Tuckums won't tell you that part of the story.

Gov gives $47billion tax dollars to farm subsidies per year, most go to big rich farms that make unhealthy food. Those farms r often tax exempt, not only do they not pay taxes, they receive billions of tax dollars. They r also one of politicans biggest donors. All it is is big rich farms and gov stealing the public's tax dollars.
Many amish refuse to accept tax money, and many dont even qualify for much if any farm subsidies, as they r mainly for big rich farms that make unhealthy food.

I met reporter Katie Davis Daviscourt at an event recently. Some security was trying to stop her from interviewing us but she was eventually given permission to be there.
He seems like a wonderful young man! Makes me so happy to see that there are those in the younger generation who THINK for themselves rather than allowing themselves to be pigeonholed into the vicious, hateful, stereotyping left's politically approved identity groups.

When they tell you to raid an Amish farm, when they tell you to arrest a pastor for holding church services, when they tell you to arrest a hair dresser for opening her salon, when they tell you do anything that is in violation of the oath you took to defend the constitution, that's when you bow out.

Fox News isn't telling the whole story. His products weren't following USDA guidelines and there was a listeria outbreak from his products.

@@craigjames4258 The "outbreak" you're referring to consisted of two people who got sick from unpasteurized milk in 2014. One of the two died. It took the CDC two years to conclude that the bacteria was similar to bacteria found on Miller's farm.

In all fairness, this goes back to a 2016 case brought against Mr. Miller for violating USDA inspection rules related to two people getting listeriosis after supposedly consuming raw milk from Miller's farm. There is nothing new about this case, this is just the most recent chapter.

The USDA destroys an Amish man's livelihood, charges him an outrageous fine that's probably around the full value of his home and farm, and threatens him and his family because 2 people among his regular customer base of 4000+ people (and everyone they feed with his produce) got sick. That's probably a better safety rate than many businesses have that follow USDA regulations.
I grew up Mennonite (no, the outfit has nothing to do with it) and was very proud to see my Amish and Mennonite relatives come out in force to vote for President Trump, even though I knew that they were making themselves into targets by doing so. They're too wholesome, and like everything else in this country that's good, wholesome, and worth protecting, they're seen as prime targets by many on the left. They were probably safe as long as they seldom voted or got involved in politics, but they knew that the situation was critical and they've never been ones to back down from a difficult job.
These ridiculous attacks on their homes and livelihoods will continue as long as the democrats have the power to send government entities after them.

I worked for "Snyder's Pretzels and chips" delivering to stores mostly , but one day a week my route was to delivery to all the small shops in Holmes County Ohio. It is a community thick with Amish and Mennonite people. These were small shops that resold in bulk foods. Barrels lined the stores filled with flour, sugar , oats etc. They purchased my pretzels in bulk too. They had different types of retail stores in towns such as " New Hope" They had a quilt store, a harness shop, other shops for buggies, a black smith shop and horse dressings etc. The stores and town was small but busy. Several purchased from me so , Most owned the shop they worked at, so, I got to know them well. I was invited to and ate dinner in their homes and not many " English " as they call us, have gotten to know them that well. I could share so much of their wisdom with you today but TOO LONG, so I will tell you what "Old man Weaver" a bulk food store owner told me in 1986 when he was 96 years old at the time. I was telling him about the space shuttle, when he said" the most important and best thing that the English ever invented was...........wait for it.......... Ice cream... Kind of stuck with me from a man who said the year he was born, 1890 is where I get off of the " technology train" Happiest people on the planet in a world wide study. ...makes me wonder.

I believe this has affected his entire community in Bird-In-Hand. I know he is a quiet humble man and they are so private but it is in the heart of those who do business with him to help him…so thank you for bringing this out to the public. Speaking as a retired soldier, I have observed over the years that there's something about putting on a uniform that dehumanizes people. There's nothing like a uniform to promote "group think" and diminish individual conscience. Hey, those marshals were only following orders, right?
Add to the uniform phenomenon the drive for self preservation. Yeah, there may have been a couple of marshals who quietly dissented against the raid on the farm. But maybe they were up for promotions or were too invested in their retirement plan to speak out. Either way, this doesn't excuse government overreach.
What we are seeing is the end result of a complete leftist socialist takeover of the Western world.
If they are going to sell meat they have to pass inspections and follow rules. Has nothing to do with politics or religion. The Amish are sometimes dirty with their practices and their every day life. Saying you are in a cult doesnt get you a pass

I have purchased products from this farm for years and the quality has always been outstanding. I am so very sad to see this. What a huge overreach and a nuclear alarm for the rest of us. Prayers for this hardworking family that has provided a much appreciated service to it's customers for as long as it has. I would love to know if there is any sort of coordinated effort to help.

Step back and ask yourself why gates is buying so much farm land
while I think it can be a date to have, the usefulness of federally regulated food safety inspections, if the law is that you cannot sell meat to the public that has not been inspected, and you do so, even after multiple court ordered injunctions to cease doing so...is it over reach when they come for your meat? The fight to be fought is in the court over the efficacy of such regulations, not simply flouting them and doing as you wish. I won't argue that the meat is like better tasting and better for you being closer to 'natural' vs. large industrial farms and the shenanigans they get up to - but at the same time, one must take it on faith that the uninspected meat IS free of disease and bacteria...yes, it also goes for inspected, as things slip through sometimes, but your chances are numerically less so with the inspected product, and the further you are from that meat's source, the more liklihood of getting 'bad meat' goes up due to potentials for mishandling and storage en route.

My brother lived in Pennsylvania before he passed away. When I would go there I always got them to take me and my family to Amish country. We would buy the fresh bread and all kinds of homemade goodies.

I was here for the burial of my brother who passed away in June this year in the US. The food here is virtually all organic and is so good, both in taste and nutritional value. Judges and regulators have bent over backwards to help him comply with the law but he refuses. We first discovered he wasn't following regulations when one of his customers actually died from consuming his listeria tainted milk. But Tuckums won't tell you that part of the story. Is that an evil or a good?

(e) Miller’s had been operating its meat and poultry business without a USDA-FSIS Federal Grant of Inspection and (with rare exception) without taking its livestock and poultry for slaughter and processing to any federally inspected facility; and
(f) defendants had not yet changed Miller’s business model to attempt to qualify for an exemption from federal inspection under the Acts for any part of their operations.

This farmer has been selling his products for years and never had a problem. The government should be happy about him, and leave him alone. I was on on medication for years at the FDA approved no telling what damage it done to my body my doctor called me one day and told me to get off of it immediately. My sister was on a medication they told her that she'd be on it the rest of her life . I told her what happened to me she said well the doctor told me to stay on it. About two months later her doctor called her and told her to get off the medication not to take any more of it. Those Amish people have never had a problem they need to leave them alone go after your big Pharma companies that are poisoning people.

Miller’s clashes with USDA food inspectors trace back to 2014, according to government court filings, when two people in Florida and California were sickened with listeria after drinking raw milk, with the Florida person ultimately dying from it.

NO, the separation of "church and state" is NOT in the US Constitution. Actually read it and you will see that. There is a reference to the government not recognizing any one religion as a state religion as there was in Great Britain at the time (1770s). That's it.

His farm is selling meat to an 'exclusive nation-wide private buyers club' that has not been inspected, and may or may not have been branded USDA, even though he allows no FSIS inspections to take place.
To be fair, the only question I have that has yet to be answered is whether this farmer’s meat was usda inspected. Maybe where I live is different, but it doesn’t matter how the cattle was raised (or whether you use chemicals and what not) but whether it passed state or federal inspection before offering it for sale to market.
