@0:12 just realized my drone filmed THEE salmon pen! (you'll see the tug towing it left side of screen). your license dollars/donations/volunteers go into foundation(s) that restock our local salmon fisheries. baby salmon, or 'smolt', are released into this pen in the harbor, tugged out to acclimate for awhile in fresh saltwater near the harbor mouth, then released to venture out into the ocean for us to catch later on during their annual migrations back to where they were 'born'. you can identify one of these hatchery kings vs wild kings by their clipped adipose fins. the one featured in this vid was clipped and was probably raised and released from this very pen! the circle of hatchery life completed, neat-o.
Ish With Fish its completed with volunteers from Coastside Fishing Foundation and club. we released about 750,000 baby salmon in 3 delivers that spans 3 weeks. this was the last release and we where headed bad in to put it away for next year. cool arial shot

Nice Catch! According to DFG maximum daily and possession limit on Salmon is 2. The only time you can keep more is during a chartered multi-day trip and then you can only keep 2 days worth of limits.
thx man. can catch 2 per day, hold 2 bag limits in possesion. per the cadfw, "The daily bag and possession limit is 2 salmon of any species except coho, with a minimum size limit of 20 inches total length. No more than two daily bag limits may be in possession when on land. On a vessel in ocean waters, no person shall possess or bring ashore more than one daily bag limit."

I heard if a whale eat you , I don’t think it will spit you back out (because you’re not fish or krill). Just saying how it can go badly in a snap
Ever thought about using those wire fish basket to keep the salmon in it , instead of the metal wire , just in case the seal comes up and take it
Im pretty shure the seals would f that up fast. I go crabbing and we use medium heavy wire for bait cages and they still break the cages.

decent reel! built well, powerful, i caught a 26lb keeper sturgeon with it too. one thing though, the drag is a little sticky, esp compared to my daiwa lexa. lighter drag is better.
