Hey Vic. The other day, maybe 4-5 days ago, I went into an Oxxo in Ajijic...(7-11 type store) to buy a coffee. I noticed there weren't any cups so I asked where the cups were. The young lady asks me what size and hands me the cup. I pour my coffee and couldn't find the creamer...so I ask for creamer. She hands me 3. I asked her "why are the cups and creamer not on the counter? Do people come in and just take them? Yes she said, "the gringos take cups, creamer, the are wasteful and have horrible attitudes, one time a lady comes in with a thermos, fills it to the brim and wants me to charge her for a small cup... they're the worst customers we have, they think they are better because they have money". A Doctor in Guadalajara told me that he doesn't like to come lakeside to tend to gringos because "they're cheap and rude". Of course this doesn't apply to all but the ones that are leave a bitter impression on the locals. I say shame on them. Treat people who serve you with the respect they deserve. They work long hours for your comfort and wellbeing. There's always the option of going back to where they came from.

Truly agree with you bro. I do believe they bring something good to the country, however they need to leave the entitlement in the US or where ever they come from. In fact that’s why I dislike the US. To many people feel entitled. It’s a shame that they bring the very thing that they are running from.

@@yeshuaismyredeemer they bring money. Somewhat of order. Locals are grateful because it keeps them employed. But they are keen to the gringos attitudes as well. You and I bro, we lived here before. I had 2 businesses here in Mexico. There are misconceptions on many UA-cam channels. "People in Mexico are so friendly "....of course they are, you are their customer. But i know people at the ground level that can't stand gringos because of the way they treat locals. Hopefully this video gets a lot of views bro.

@@cesarestrada1653 So how do they buy their expensive homes, have nice cars, pay maids, gardeners, pool service, go out to eat often, play golf?. Money. At least here in the Lake Chapala area there are people that have money. Not all of them leave because they're poor in their country. Some leave because of government overreach, high taxes and a stressful lifestyle. Here they don't have to deal with that. It still doesn't give them the right to act the way they do.

I was at a restaurant in Merida and a bunch of Americans sat next to my table. The menu was only in Spanish ( which was interesting because the owner od this restaurant is super nice and is an American) and the server only spoke Spanish, I volunteered translating and explaining to them what the dishes were about. One of them felt so inappropriate and insecure about herself ( I guess) that she dared to "correct" my pronuntiation in American English. I am Mexican, in my own city having to put up with that. I was speechless by her audacity when they would not even bother to learn basic Spanish to order food. People like this give a terrible name to other foreigners living in Mexico --- which I find respectful by the most part and in my own experience--- but definetely there are some crazy entitled ones. Good for you to call this idiot on his bs.

However on the flip side, they think White Americans are rude and disrespectful.

I live part time in Mexico and part time in the US. Guess what there are jerks everywhere. I live in a small modest house in a Colonia. Never do I have a problem. The worst thing that happened to me in Mexico was a party that lasted into the morning. At about 3am, it was so loud that I couldn’t sleep. So I got dressed went over there and asked if I could have a beer. They invited me in and we all had a good time until 6am when most of us just passed out. Around 8am, the women announced it was time for some menudo. We all ate had our last beer and the party ended at 10am. Just go with the flow.

As a Mexican-American, I share similarities with you, including having close friendships with Caucasians. I have a friend who has consistently maintained that he is not prejudiced. We embarked on a hiking trip around the Las Cruces mountains once. Throughout the journey, we stumbled upon numerous gallons of water. Without a second thought, he emptied them, arguing it was a method to deter "illegal" immigrants from crossing, insisting they should remain in their own country. I counter-argued, stating that the land had always been home to the Mexican/Indigenous peoples, and that history, unfortunately, had a strong bias favoring Caucasians, often portraying them as heroes. I emphasized that the question at hand should be about preserving human lives, irrespective of their legal status. However, his indifference was striking.
In an ironic twist, he hired the very individuals he had expressed a desire to harm when it came time to remodel his house, attracted by their expertise and economical pricing. Living near the Mescalero Apache reservation, my wife had a thought-provoking conversation with a Native American at a local Walmart one day. My wife, making small talk, inquired about her Thanksgiving preparations. The woman replied with a question that made us think, "Do you truly think there was a Thanksgiving?" She stated that if there was any kind of Thanksgiving celebration, it would have involved only a small number of Native Americans who were either hungry or had sold out, and that these individuals did not represent the majority even to this day. Yet again, it underscored the point that history is often written from a Caucasian perspective, often leaving out non-caucasians, particularly here in the USA. - Jose, PhD

It’s really hard for our Caucasian friends to understand. Although they are our fiends in some cases like my close friend, they still struggle with the idea of immigrants, he asked me one time what did I think about people coming to the US illegally, I just told him it’s a tough question to answer. Mexican don’t see them selves as illegals, they see them selves coming back home to their native land. Of course that not a complete new statement. Because the real reason is they are looking for opportunities to do something with their lives, that can’t be done in Mexico. I’m always torn. I think things should be done legally, but I feel for my brothers and sisters from Mexico that our struggling. They don’t come to the US for a vacation they come to work and make a living.

He was born in a different generation when people saw Mexico as a backyard. Mexicans have a different culture and money is not everything. Sure you need money to do anything but to believe you come from a superior race or to feel better because you have more money truly materializes in that attitude. Mexico has gone through poor leadership but we like being free and have dignity. We like a sovereign country and there was a reason the old man moved to Mexico. Sadly some believe they are smarter than the system and behave that way. Someone sad, Gringos don’t have friends they have interests. Gladly it was said in a different generation. Let’s just be good humans! Mexicans serve with a smile and a brother that lives in Texas said on a visit here, I wish Anglo would treat us the way Mexicans treat them. Believe me you treat them wrong and they don’t care how much money you have, again unless they are drugged they just don’t want to deal with an annoying person. So if you act ugly don’t feel discriminated. Just know, money is not the only thing most Mexicans value in life. They don’t have a lot but don’t desire too much either.

I look at people for who they are and they’re responsible for themselves in how they react or better respond. Because foreigners get uncomfortable here, they often display the worst part of who they are because they’re afraid or unsure. I’m originally from the US and not knowing how an expat may respond is more concerning to me than a Mexican because some are really rude and they say really cutting things. I don’t like conflicts. The neighbor acted like a “Karen,” slang for entitled. I’m sorry you were tested and felt you didn’t pass the test as well as you would have liked to. I’d forgive myself, and the guy and put it behind you. If something like that were to happen again, you could just say hey, this is Mexico and in Mexico, sometimes we drive on the wrong side of the street and the guy needs to chill out. Creo que la tolerancia,si alguien te grita que culpa uno tiene de que esa persona tenga frustaciones yo como quiera voy a comer a disfrutar mi vida etc sera que a mi muchas cosas no me molestan.

One thing that comes from Anglo North American entitlement is the uncanny habit of not knowing or attempting to learn a lick of Spanish while staying to live in Mexico which is a high disrespect that not many Mexicans address it, we speak English migrating to the USA but when you people migrate here for a new home because prices are expensive up north not a lick of Spanish I’m tire of it and quite frankly felt the need to express that as many Anglo North Americans tell us.

You have every right to feel the way you do, and I think it's ok to voice it. Hopefully the guy learned a lesson and will tone it down. Wrong is wrong.

Thank you, it was really an uncomfortable situation, I hope he decides no to yell at more people, specially if he’s in Mexico.
