- Check out our NEW SERIES here: • Locked Up for 25 Years...
All kids under the age of 18 who are sentenced as adults in the state of Indiana are transferred to one specific prison that has a Youth cellblock on the prison grounds. The cellblock only houses prisoners who are under age 18. Upon arrival at the prison, the youth are processed in through the Intake unit, where they must change into prison jumpsuits and be walked through the prison yard to the Youth cellblock. In this Behind the Scenes video from our archive, cameras film the arrival of two new 17-year old boys as they make their first entry into the adult prison world. Both boys have been in the juvenile system in the past, but after repeated arrests for drugs, theft and violation of probation they now find themselves in the adult corrections system. As they process into the faciity and enter the Youth Unit, they quickly realize they're in a whole new world. They unpack and move into their 8x10 cell, then meet with a prison counselor who goes over the rules of the facility.

He ready for that TV, as soon as his bunkie walks in with the TV from commissary he's gonna take it out his hands and take control of it lmfao
Most probably! I would have enjoyed having him as my cellmate!

Update 2021: Aaron Gabriel has been out of prison since 2013; he came back once after his first release but no further DOC convictions. Sadly, Harrison Shepherd passed away in DOC custody about five years ago after having recidivated several times.

You gotta keep yo eyes on dude .... he ask a lot of questions
This two are gonna have a long life being locked up. In and out is gonna keep happening if they don’t do a 360 turn around. I was locked up for twelve years and I hated it. I worked on myself like it’s designed to do. It’s a different feeling when you look out the window and your ten to twenty feet from freedom and can’t do a thing about it. So glad I don’t live that way anymore. It’s called growing up. It requires you to think differently. When you get out and go home your family should be able to say your not the same guy you were when you got locked up. Until they can do that this will become home for a long time. Trust me when I say this, the time will keep getting longer every time you get in trouble.

I'd like to see them do a 180....a 360 will get them back to where they are now

Big rule don’t look in peoples cells
I remember being in these young males situation. You’re remorseful for your actions but at the same time your ego comes into play and you gotta establish yourself with the prison population. It’s terrifying whether they admit it or not. You’re walking into a jungle of beasts ready to pop off at any moment. I seen dudes pay commissary to cut another dudes pony tail off just for block entertainment. I seen dudes take hot sauce to their eyeball for a pack of ramen soup. Ain’t no game. The rules and sensibility of the outside don’t apply when your bidding. It gets wild. Glad those days are long gone. Also, as far as booty bandits, you almost gotta want someone to take that a$$. Ain’t no real man that wants to take another males a$$. Smh

Thanks Nicole!!
Follow up would be amazing
Ofc granny has me coming back to both videos
Fresh Crispies...brand new everything. Always gotta ask for cleanser to clean and wipe everything down before you start putting stuff away. Then you get the mattress and hook up your sheet so it’s nice and tightly wrapped around it. Cut some of that sheet off and start making laundry lines and a curtain for the restroom. And after all is said and done...bird bath, clean up then call it a night.
Acting hard an granny comes in an hands them snacks
@chris S Granny was great! She was a perfect officer to work in this unit. Every kid can use an extra grandma looking out for them. :)

That boy shouldn't be worried about his bunkies TV hes gonna buy. He should be worried about the other inmates taking his food tray. Hes doing too much.. smh
It’s so important to change your people, places and things
There's always one that talkative and one that's quiet.
I wish these boys/young men were going into the military instead of prison,I hope they have learned better ways so cope, deal with situations and make better choices, they are both out and living a better FREE life
Turning a burglar into a killer
Mine was totally different. I was in a pod of about 16 people. I was the only white person in my pod. That is not a racist remake it just what it was. They came up to me and said don't touch the TV . I said I won't that's cool. I already had commissary . One of the guys said we have a friend getting out of the hole, so we all hook him up with candy or whatever we had . I said that's cool. I was in a blood tank . The guy came out of the hole and I opened up my bag of candy and said nice to meet you , take what you want. After two days in there these bloods were actually cool with me and we all got along well together. We turned out to be good friends even when we got out. One white boy went in my pod all cocky and said no one is taking my commissary . He got beat down so bad that I thought he was gonna die. I just watched, nothing I can do about it. I warned him when he came in this pod to just be cool. He ended up in the ICU at the hospital. Guards looked at the black guys and said they were racist. The bloods said look at that white boy over there, talking about me. They said lok how cool we are with him. Guard pulled me aside and asked if I was safe to be in there . I said Ive been here 24 days now and we are all cool together. Basically I'm just saying if you have to go to jail is be cool with them and they will be cool with you.
“This is way better than jail.” The wrong mentality to have after the first 10 mins in an adult prison
Gotta make the best of your situation so u don’t go crazy

Wow, I wish our kiddy camp was this light. 😐 You guys actually get to look at people when you walk in the hallway. We would be punished for that. "walk in a perfect line, look straight & shut up" is what we went by.

Seems like Cable TV is a drug to a lot of people, I've been 2 years clean and my mind and outlook is way better and focused
Good shit bro.. I myself am trying to get myself clean.. it's hard everyday it's a struggle.. especially with today's drugs it's alot more poison in it.. spending too much money on it should b enough to stop.. I want too but have to really dig deep to accomplish..
Good going! I finely got sober after years of abusing RX pain killers and alcohol, really screwed up my life, something major happened and it really opened my eyes it was actually to another person but it made me take a hard look at myself, so glad I do not do it anymore...If you need to talk hit me up
@@scoobydoo3115 can I ask what happened?
Think the original post is saying cable tv is a drug, they haven't watched tv & stopped fogging their mind. I stopped watching tv 3-4 years back.
it’s so sad he said i never watch tv for like forever ‘ im so blessed to have a parents who are always there for me 💯it’s really hard to be in that situation especially when your really young im lucky to be outside to whatever i like and going to work doing it the right way and not hanging out with the wrong crowd . 🙏🏽
Every one makes choices don't blame parents I'm young but I don't play that "look at me I'm young dumb crap"
@@larryyuk3261 obviously, you were lucky to be born in a normal family. The majority, and I mean the majority of prisoners are orphans, victims of abuse from parents, victims of sexual abuse from parents, etc. Some of them lived on the streets at the age of 12 or younger. Don't act all tough when you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. If you think they don't have manners, well, guess what, they never had anyone to teach them anything nice. I hate people who live in their own world and never take a chance to look at others' worlds
Sad how these kids live hell I was one military at 17 2009 officer nurse corps LT now many of my friends prison is usually not happening they died in the streets
Both boys seem friendly for prisoners
I spent 23 months in County for a Parole violation. Its not fun, and the routine got boring, but i wasnt trying to spend anymore then i had to there. so i did what i had to do and got out of there. The COs i dealt with on a daily basis were nice, but not Grannie nice.
Juvenile detention seems to have its privileges. I didn’t have a mirror and all those shelves in my prison cell!
Me either! We had a bin for under the bed (where we kept all our commissary, personal belongings, towels and extra clothes) and a table where we kept extra stuff like coffee and milk and items like that. Other than that, we had a bunk bed with a shit mattress and a thin-ass blanket and sheet. The pillow was attached to the mattress so it was uncomfy as fuck.
Yeah, I was in prison for a freaking YEAR on an arson charge (I am a pyro, but still got slammed for what I had done)...it was NOT fun.
Was that colt lundy on the landing
Gabriel has already got the hard guy swagger so sad.. his roomy is weak and will have problems.. Wake up lads life is too short to be stuck in prison!
Hi there!! I watch your shows and what gets me is they seem well spoken nice boys who have done some stupid things. I'd like to think they will be rehabilitated. As a Aussie I always notice Texas law for bad crime death penalty or crazy jail time 250years. I wish there was a answer. Thank you for your docos they are wonderful. Thanks
@John Bastiani Thanks so much for finding our channel and commenting. Glad you like our videos. What we've found over the past 20+ years filming with kids of all ages inside the juvenile justice system is that they are indeed nice kids who have somethimes made horrible mistakes. Brain research shows that the juvenile brain isn't fully developed until well into the 20's. Sadly, this can cause some kids to do extremely impulsive, dangerous things. All kids deserve a chance to learn and grow. Maturity, hope, opportunity and support all play a part in helping these kids turn their lives around. We're honored to be able to tell these stories and hopefully help educate the public on the many issues involved. Thanks again for watching, and hope you'll hit the "subscribe" button on our channel to get updates and all new videos ahead!
Where's part 1 if this is part 2 🤔

how did his walk tell u he had already done time? not hating just intrigued
It doesnt take more then a weekend in jail to learn that shit lol.
I was thinking the same thing. He’s even riding on his bunkie buying a tv like it’s his! He gonna be buying store for both of them

Harrison Shepard (tall kid) died in his cell, found unresponsive at 11:30pm April 01, 2017 by staff. I couldn’t find out why he died using google.
Yes, we learned that too, but have not been told his cause of death. Such a sad, tragic ending.
@@CalamariProductions yeah it seems suspicious, he looked like a young healthy kid, I wonder if he had the same roommate when he passed. I’m thinking if there was foul play It could only be his roommate or the staff.
Very sad
Damn
some kids choose the life behind bars because they seemed so comfortable being locked up. Jail is for some while freedom is for others. When kids repeat offences and smirk about it then they waste their time and society's resources to keep them incarcerated. Depending on the state - each inmate costs between $50,000 to $70,000 annually...what a choice to be locked up at 17 and even after they are released these two are perfect example of recidivism. In a way these teens prefer the structure and routine because they didnt seem to want to function in society and value their freedom
I have just recently started watching this channel. The vids they produce are really interesting. I wish I could understand the behavior of these dodoes. They all say that being locked up anywhere is Hell on Earth, but for the most part they all keep making the same (or worse) decisions that keep them there. Once in, they actually seem happier!
Thanks for being here on ou rchannel @Long White Mane (hope you also hit the subscribe button!). We realize why it's hard to understand the actions of young kids who say they hate being locked up but still wind up behind bars. After 22 years of covering these stories and filming inside prisons and juvenile courts, we've mostly found that the juvenile brain is an impulsive one (research bears this out). Once kids hit their mid to late 20s they usually react less impuslsively. Not always, of course, but maturity definitely helps. Regarding how they act once they're behind bars, a lot of it is bravado to put on a strong front. At least that's what we've seen and what kids have told us after they've gotten out and have matured. Every kid is different, obvously, and outside support and opportunity is always key. Appreciate you finding our channel and taking the time to watch and respond to our vids. Hope you'll stay tuned for more!
They get sober that's why they are happier.
It’s called: becoming a “hardened criminal.” And “institutionalized” jail is not a rehabilitative place. A lot of them have mental issues and drug dependency issues. It’s a lot deeper than what appears on the surface. Although your question was a serious question, it was also an ignorant one as well.
These two boys are good .. hopefully they will realize and change there life for the better......STAY FOCUS AND PRAY HARDER..
The van call her granny and they really respected her
18:50 is that colt lundy??

Well glad one of them made it, sad that they think they have it so good in jail.
If they were anywhere near as hard and experienced as they pretend, they'd know they should NEVER walk in with a camera crew doing interviews with them. They're drawing way too much attention to themselves and people are gonna be wondering what they told the officers and the film crew.
