Of all the (retro) licensed wrestling games I've played, I still consider this to be the absolute pinnacle. Even in an age where 3D was becoming all the rage, the quality and clarity of Midway's digitisation techniques really shine here. Being able to recognise your favourite wrestlers, complete with costumes and attire, is vitally important, and that couldn't really be achieved with 3D at the time.
Midway also nailed the gameplay, capturing the feel of the live bouts. Each wrestler has a roster of standard kicks, punches and throws, plus quite a number of special moves. Learning the combinations to unleash devastating combos, not to mention reversals to prevent yourself ending up face-first in the canvas, are vitally important, and is perhaps the one criticism I have of the game; with 5 buttons and so many moves, games more often descend into bouts of button mashing and furious stick waggling than demonstrations of serious skill.
Gripes aside, this really is a great arcade game. Slapping opponents silly, accompanied by play-by-play commentary from the ringside colour commentators, is great fun and highly recommended!

36 years old and I can't forget them good old days 🤘
me to 36 yrs old. Used to play this in the local arcade.
41 years old from Russia, played it when i was young boy from 1995 to 2002 on Sega with friend and brother and now in 2022 playing with my 10 y. son and 8 y. daughter on MAME Arcade emulator. This game can be cibersport game like CS!!! Unbelievable game!
38 here...I’m with ya guys 😀
You can play for free online against other people on fightcade2🎮
42 and I loved these games lol
The graphics and effects are surprisingly good for a game like this at that time 🤯
it's pretty typical for Midway to use digitized graphics in that time period (mid 90s). They did this with many games like Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam. But this video is 4k upscaled resolution which is even better than the arcade Wolf Unit cabinet screen of 400x254
Its in the arcade, usually the graphics and sounds suffers greatly when ported to consoles like SNES and Genesis
It was just awesome, I can remember it very well
@@tynao2029
"But this video is 4k upscaled resolution which is even better than the arcade Wolf Unit cabinet screen of 400x254"
This is a linear upscale, so this doesn't change anything.
@@rdu239 The port to the PlayStation was close to arcade perfect.
Rest in peace Yokozuna, Bam Bam Bigelow, Doink and especially Scott Hall.
Its been nearly two years long these WWE Superstars passed away.
The fact that Vince voiced this himself is greatly underscored.
whats this?!?!
@@bloodyplaylists1247 yeah, it does sound like he’s got dementia or something when he keeps asking that…
He did it in WWF Warzone.
UN BA LIVABLE 😃😀👍👌
Well he was an on screen announcer before unfolding he was the owner eventually
this computer crowd is more energetic than modern wwe crowds.
😳🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
BAHAHAHAAHAH damn savage
If this was WCW their be trash all in the ring
Hard to get energetic when the current product just really sucks ass..
That's why you couldn't go out in the crowd in this game, I'd be too dangerous
You have to admit it was truly ahead of its time. Seeing the old behind the scenes videos on UA-cam with all the wrestlers performing their moves and taunts really shows they loved working on the game and they gave it their all. The sound design is beyond exceptional. The commentary from Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler is pretty great along with the crowd and makes you feel like you are watching an over the top wrestling match. Hearing Jim Johnson's WWE music is so awesome. Its cool to see that the ai would fight each other and not just you and that they could hurt themselves. It looks incredibly fun. We can all agree the roster could have been bigger and better but then again WWE were in a really bad place when this game was being made and this was the best they had. It truly did pave the way for future wrestling games.
I think one of the most impressive achievements is how the developers managed to convey the sense that the wrestlers are genuinely holding/grappling with another person; can't have been easy.
I know right I loved playing this game with my Uncle it was so fun. And it felt like a Mortal Kombat game but with WWE Superstars. 😊😊😊😊😊
It's still a better game than anything 2K will ever give us..
midway was ahead of its time.
@@DemonChildCC I completely agree.
Man I played the hell out of this game as a kid. The passing of Scott Hall just made me remember it. It was so much fun, when you hit Yokozuna whole turkeys would fly out of his body. Good times man. Rest In Power to one of the greatest to ever step into the ring.
I remember the turkey flying out of Yokozuna what fun memories hahahahaha
@@calidag Hell yeah they were!
@@calidagits been 5 years now since Yokozuna and Bam Bam Bigelow were dead.... RIP.😢
😂😂😂😂😂 so true. If make it to the gates I wish to play this game with them.
Best wwf game ever .. RIP our memories
You mean No Mercy not this crap
@@gunsharck no mercy suck
Hell no 😂
@@maximilianoalexisbarrera7026 naw you just couldn't play 😂
@@gunsharckWWF NO MERCY < WWF WRESTLEMANIA ARCADE and Smackdown 2.
Insane grapics ...so real looks ...better than todays game
Reminds a little of Mortal Kombat graphics
@@joncal6079 They were both produced by the same exact people by the same exact company. It's called digitized graphics and they are my favorite.
Yep!...
It did look good.
@@SuperN1ntendoChalmers Midway?
This game was so much fun and insanely underrated. Shawn Michaels kick and frankensteiner combos were insane
And his celebration after winning too.
@@dhammdeepbhagatddBrett Hart's celebration after winning a round also is iconic.
This was a great time to be a wrestling fan unlike today ❤😊
I unironically still love this game.
if you where not Doink or Taker you where not playing the game right.
Shizuku Osaka and Kasumi Nakasu also love this game, especially with fighters like HBK and Bret Hart.
@@purwantiallan5089 Bret Hart all the way
This game still kicks ass today. I remember playing this to death at the arcades and when it came out on Super Nintendo.
The SNES version of this game dont have Bam Bam Bigelow or Yokozuna.
It on sega not Nintendo
This game was definitely ahead of its time
I stayed up all night playing this game when I was attending middle school. Fun memories.
Definitely one of the hardest wrestling games I've played!!
Saturday Night Slam Masters is much harder.
You're kidding
This game should be on Steam and Playstation 5 for $20.
gameplay is fun in this ....company should make a sequel
They did, but I won't say bad or good. WWF IN YOUR HOUSE
I had that too 😂 was ight back then but not this man i miss arcade days
This game sucked. It was a fighting game not a wrestling game
@@bigdaddytrips6197 take it back
You know nothing.
Around 9:10 Bret goes into the casket, the gravestone is coming out of Razor LOL.
That grave is the Alien xD
Double fatality haha
i had no idea this game had fatalities in 25 years!
@@Ezekial2517soon quadruple fatality.😂
Specifically his trunks, which makes it even funnier
This was one of my favorite games of the arcade era are used to go to different places and I play this game very fun and challenging
I remember this game, what a fun era that was
I'd wish they bring alot of these game back either remade or remasterd....
Best wrestling game ever…played the hell out of this growing up lol
The combo were insane. Great game
incredible
RIP Scott Hall.Your wrestling persona was part of an amazing cast that marked the childhoods of many a fan.
Dude. I had no idea that casket thing was a thing. Mind blown.
The Graphics is amazing, funny thing is I probably played this when I was a kid, since I use to play WWF Games back in the day but this is just refreshing my memory
Sega days
Sad to say this game was my first experience of rage quitting.
Best wrestling game Acclaim EVER made the sessions we had on this at the boys and girls club was legendary.
Never played any of these WWF games at all, but watching this I can see the appeal. It's really cool that each of the wrestlers have unique moves and special attacks that reflect their motif. I love the over the top 90's SFX too.
Luckily i did that. I was in a boarding school and every Sunday we used to go to a game shop paying INR 10 for a hour. Such great days.
When the old classics are still more fun to play then the new stuff
Als Kind der 90er habe ich dieses Spiel so sehr geliebt 😊 Da kommen schöne Erinnerungen hoch...
That was a great video.thank you, the nostalgia
I remember this game being hard to beat but you did beat it so easily, memories ❤️
Holy shit I forgot all about this game... new memory sequence unlocked.
This is such a Midway game lol. I wore this game out.
And when I tell you I wore this game out, I mean I WORE THIS GAME OUT! It was all I would play as soon as I got home from school and it never got old.
It's crazy to think that I'll be 40 when this game turns 30 (which is soon I might add). And it hasn't lost a step. It still looks as good as it did when I laid eyes on it. Thank you for this nostalgia trip down memory lane. To have been a kid in the 90s man I swear nothing compares.
I used to play this game at Cybercafe in childhood days. Golden memories ❤️❤️
This game had phenomenal graphics
That was awesome. I've seen some moves I never seen before. Excellent play
I miss Midway this and their MK
This game was legendary n still is fun to play
So is NBA jam
Omg 90s arcades lol amazing 👏👏👏 great times
Great and funny run! Thx for the good video aspect ratio 😁😁
All runs are funny with this game
I remember playing game. Watching this video brings me back lots of good memories 🤘👍
Grappling was a head of it time the movement looks so progressive and realistic
I remember making a temporary exchange of my SF2 champion edition on Sega mega drive for this cartridge back in the 90's. Then being blown away by how much the game play impressed me.
This looks fun 😁
Back in the day, this arcade was dope!
This was actually super awesome!
This game brings back memories
One of my favourites back in the day... Played 2 player for hours and hours
I can't believe this game came out so long ago and is still better than all the wrestling games out right now.
Spends all summer school holidays 2months day by day with this game 1996
This game out as so advanced...I fell in love the first time I saw it. Then I was able to own it for SNES. Classic
I had it on snes too. But that's the worst one. It's also missing yokozuna and bam bam.
7:41 LOL! Imagin seeing this at Wrestlemania... the opponent flying right into the entrance titantron and smashing it :D
Wow this bring back so many memories great video
Thank you AL
Remember playing this! Midway used to put so much love in their games for sure. Amazing graphics and playability. Also great channel. Suscribed ❤
Makes me want to play this for the first time!
That was a Great Game! IT was so Fun in Coop Play! 😀❤️👍🏻
Dude. Back when i was a kid. I know i dont have good strategy as a kid and 2 vs 1 was like a hell to me back then. But you nailed 3 v 1 like a pro. Lol thanks for the memories
I'm gonna tell my kids this is marvel vs capcom.
I loved this game when I was a kid.
I always thought that fatality-esque thing where he puts them in the tomb was just a urban legend guess I was wrong. Mind blown!!
One of the best wwe games Ive played. So much memories
This was the greatest wrestling game of all time
One of the best games ever!
Better than 2k20
Dil khush ho jata hai purani cheez ko dekhke
Great, groundbreaking wrestling game for 1995. WCW vs the World is another one of the same caliber. Played the hell out of this in 1996 on my Sega Genesis. It took me until a year later to realize that Diesel was in WWF Monday Night Raw (1994) but not in this game (1995)? Other glaring omissions from this game are Owen Hart, Tatanka, IRS, The 1-2-3 Kid, Men on a Mission, The Smoking Guns and Bob Backlund.
I remember there being some move that allowed you to do 3 tombstones (piledrivers) with some kind shade/ delayed outlining. (similar to the finish move when you put the opponent in the coffin.
I remember playing this a lot, in the 90s. I fuk'n loved this game! It kinda had a Mortal Kombat vibe to it.
Made by same company. Midway
This game a classic. Man I miss the 90s
Ese videojuego de los 90 era más divertido que muchos videojuegos actuales
Even the bats agree that undertaker's choke slam dunk isn't fake.
Midway was awesome both Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimate and WWF WrestleMania was incredible 💗💗
I was the best player of this game on SEGA 😍 absolutely amazing game! Razor Ramon my fav character 👍🏼😂 Oh and I remember one combo I made with him, it was 30+ hits and I launched my opponent over the moon in that match. It's was so orgasmic! 😁👌🏼
Nobody messes with razor Ramon
If only midway did a WWF/MK crossover game…lol
It's called "Immortals"
Brings back a lot of memories 😢good ol’ days
This take me back to a kid ❤
Even that I was very good at doing full combos for most of the fighters, I never seen "fatalities" in this game. I guess there are none in the SEGA version.
There was supposed to be fatalities for everyone, but only Undertaker's was done. There were rumors that Yokozuna could drop the house lights on his opponent, but it's not in the game.
@1:11 Taker just crushed Razor's machismo hahaha
R.I.P. Bam Bam&Yokuzuna❤️❤️🖤🖤
loved that game so much
How does Breat Hart look better on this than a game over 20 years later.
I agree. I miss the days when they would actually put effort into making Bret Hart's character model look cool like they did in this game.
If there wasn't a time limit it would actually be pretty good
Remember this was cutting edge back in the day, so authentic, realistic, great looking etc. Played it a few times, robbed me of my £1 coins, it was hard, really tempting just to keep sticking coins in it. Great arcade game though!. Back when wrestling was great, just crap nowadays.
Brings back good memories
for me the best wwf game, never liked the 3d ones
You’re an odd one for not liking any of the 3d ones. Especially from the early 2000’s
No Mercy.
I think WCW Revenge kicked it off, that game got so much praise then WM2000, and then No Mercy from WWF/E.
Edit: I definitely forgot about Warzone & Attitude. Those games were awesome.
I think it was WCW/NWO World Tour that kicked it off and then Revenge
@@brannonhill4046 it was.
they should have threw some mortalkombat characters in this game
So much charm in this game. Looking like Mortal Kombat, flying like NBA Jam, sounding like live WWF.
I remember having so much fun playing this game back in the day! Such a wonderful classic my favorite was Doink the Clown 😂
The unrealistic aspects is the bad aspect for me. They made a mortal kombat-like version and is kind of off putting
Mixed with nba jam
Unrealistic aspects are the best thing in this game! Wrestling has never been a serious spectacle. No modern wrestling game has the brains, imagination and balls to do something like this. That's why they all die pretty quickly, if they live at all.
Oh right because WRASSLIN Is realistic right lol
@@Jackfromshack exactly. This was famous and still remembered because of that. Modern WWF are Just all the same , Just a guy with a different Speedo than yours and that's It
This is a classic back in the arcade day's
Favorite wrestling game of all time!!!
INCREDIBLE COMBINATIONAL !!!
OMG
My childhood playing this game with friends for hours
great wwf wrestlemania : the arcade game longplay 1995 !!!
I played this game in the arcade (Enchanted Castle) as a child and had it on both Sega Genesis and PC. Every blue moon I play it on my PC via MAME.
This is my all-time favorite video game. Undertaker and Brett Hart were my preferred choices. Great memories here! I miss the 90s.
Man this brings back memories
Everything about this game is awesome
Nice job, AL.
Man, if they had this available to download on my PS5, i would get it in a heartbeat
