    Great vid as always. It’s pretty unfortunate that you had to push yourself through your treadmill stuff but you handled it great. What happened at the meet also sucks but, you still got to run your race and learn from it. Good stuff and see you next week!

      Thanks my man I appreciate that. Everyone's bodies just handle stuff differently, gets tough sometimes. We got to go outside for our next lactate workout (thank goodness) and it was awesome, you'll get to see that this weekend.
      For sure, always trying to learn and grow through all the mistakes. Yet again, thanks for the stoppin in bro 💪🏻

    Hey i think your issue with the blocks isn’t necessarily your hips but more your feet. I looked at it in slow motion, and youre getting barely any plantar flexion out the blocks. If anything you’re thinking too much about the hips. Youre not doing a good job at absorbing with the ankle and pushing off, so you just pop up. You want to be able to see a bit of a drop in shin angles from when you hit the ground and when you push off, thats how guys like christian coleman or trayvon bromell are able to stay so horizontal. Your leg cycle is good you just gotta work on staying more horizontal. May be lacking upper body and core strength too bc your neck and chest pop up and you dont get a good arm drive. I dont think its terrible just need to develop that coordination. I think working on the ankles and transitioning off the ground will really help keep that forward momentum as well as reduce gct. Really work the plantar flexion its game changing. Tldr, bigger arms, chest down, and plantar flexion.

      I appreciate the detailed input. My coach and I both read through it and considered your take. Thank you!
      PS. Id never complain about getting bigger arms 💪🏻

    It looks like your toes are too close to the ground when you’re set. What I mean by that is that you shouldn’t be not on the blocks when you just get in the blocks

    • @SimonShawk5
      @SimonShawk5  4 місяці тому +1

      I get what you mean and I've heard some other people say that as well. I've also heard that when you have your feet only on the blocks, if the blocks slip it's game over, so I haven't focused on it cause that worried me. I will definitely see about trying that out and if it feels good I'll stick with it. Thank you for the feedback!

    Why don’t you try the resistance bikes? There are very good at building lactic and also keep you off your feet so your ankles won’t be killing you as well as targets the muscles a lot

    • @SimonShawk5
      @SimonShawk5  4 місяці тому

      Are you talking about assault bikes that have handles and pedals and you just go crazy on them? That's definitely not a bad idea, I would consider it. We unfortunately don't have any on my campus, though, we just have regular bikes that would be pretty difficult to get the right amount of resistance on

      @@SimonShawk5 yea I’m in high school right now and running 49s and my off season or whenever I can’t get outside the first thing my coach goes to is the assault bikes.

    Unsolicited advice, but stop running in lane 1 on your relays even your races, I hate flat tracks, you're never going to run as "fast" as you are able to on them. Running a few meters further in lane 2 would actually allow you to flow better and carry more speed making and more the difference you're losing by staying in lane and not handling it (PS.. id prob link these tight bends to your hip playing up a little too tbh)

    • @SimonShawk5
      @SimonShawk5  4 місяці тому

      Might be unsolicited but I'll take it. I'll mention it to my coach and get his take, I think I agree with you. Thank you for the advice!

      @@SimonShawk5 Momentum is key in 400, any check or hold back has a knock on effect, as does a tighter bend and its restrictions, id rather the runner was able to flow and carry more speed even if means runs 5m further, you cant/dont pick pace back up, you only lose it in the 400m

    i love you and i love track but STOP BEING A BABY XD you need to either relax because you are injured or stop thinking about every little feeling and perform the task. you always complain. if i was your coach id just assume you dislike training. and i mean that in the nicest way possible. just keep it up you will make progress if you feel too much pain take time off you will be ok XD

    • @SimonShawk5
      @SimonShawk5  4 місяці тому

      I appreciate the compliment
      Having an open line of communication with your coach is important in my opinion. If he asks me how I feel I'm gonna tell him how I feel. And it is quite painful, but the indoor season is almost over so taking some time off is not in the cards right now. I assure you, if it was "little feelings", I would happily be ignoring it. But when I leave practice and literally can't walk right because my hip flexor is completely locked... Or I am incapable of picking up my leg past 35 degrees... Those are not little feelings
      And my coach knows that track is practically my entire life. He would not think for a second that I dislike training. Training is my favorite thing to do and when I can do it healthfully, like over the majority of my previous 28 weeks of training, there are no issues
      I will do what I can to reframe my thoughts in a more positive way and hopefully that will translate into my speech

    • @SimonShawk5
      @SimonShawk5  4 місяці тому

      That's quick. Being fast is not the same as being knowledgeable but I catch your drift
      Like I said, I'll work on reframing my thoughts and words. I appreciate you calling me out and if it's annoying for you I'm sure it is for others as well, I'll work on it
      And "relaxing" does not solve injuries but alright 👍🏻
