I was given no prior instructions, painkillers, numbing gas, injection or sedatives. I was told it was going to be easy and painless. I have had no vaginal birth so I felt the doctor was stabbing me and cutting through me and I was screaming. He yelled at me to stop screaming and making patients outside the room scared. He injured me but didn't even get the proper sample. He stormed out of the room left me volunerable asking the manager to come kick me out, while I was still naked and heavily bleeding due to the procedure and in shock. The most barberic and inhumane experience ever! They blamed me for being loud and scaring the patients outside the room! They said no woman has such experience! It is comfortable and quick! Liars!
I'm a doctor and I've seen many of them done and they're unnecessarily painful. They need to get a better handle on these kinds of procedures. As women, we just don't complain enough. Not that it's the patient's job to complain - but if we did? They'd have to figure-out something more tolerable - I can't imagine any dentist staying in business if he or she didn't use local anaesthetic (though that doesn't work for these sorts of procedures).
Men are given anesthesia for testicular biopsies. It makes no sense why women are forced to suffer for their biopsies. I would demand the same anesthesia they give the men and also request a strong pain medication such as codeine to manage the pain that lasts a week after the procedure.
Thank you so much for your video. I cancelled my procedure. And told my doc to do another procedure and I will only do any procdure with sedatives. I will never do this procedure. Thank you for this. It makes perfect sense. I just cancelled an endometrial biopsy that was scheduled within a day of reporting post-menopausal breakthrough bleeding (spotting) after 11 months of HRT. I was all ready to go to my medical center - with Covid-19 screening! Surely the hysteroscopy makes better sense to look before cutting. Mind boggling.
Thank you!!!!! I needed to hear this! I am 44 & I am premenstrual. I had an ultrasound & it showed that everything looks great. I have had menstrual bleeding for the past 3-4 months only stopping for 2-3 days. I am also anemic & bleeding this much has taken a strain on my body. My primary doctor is requesting an Endometrial Biopsy. Which is really scary as so many women do state how painful it is. I decided to get a second opinion through my OBGYN. Probably should have gone to him first. I just want it to stop, so I can feel normal again. I was diagnosed years back with Adenomyosis & polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Hello, hope you are doing well. How are you? Did you get a 2nd opinion? Sorry, you are going through this. I just came to know that I have a similar issue, my lining is very thick, and have a fibroid. My menstrual cycles are crazy and I have chronic iron deficiency.
Oh how I wish I would've seen your video before today. I just had an endometrial biopsy done today at my very first visit to this obgyn so I had no idea there were other better options. I just happened across your video while looking up more info on the biopsy because it was so painful I've wanted to see if others experience was the same. I wish you were my dr. I had an endometrial biopsy 3 days ago and it was beyond painful. I’m upset and disappointed that women are guided to such painful procedures without preparation or pain control. My cervix is still hurting. She had trouble getting in because “a fibroid” was in the way. Wish I would’ve seen this before.
I’m setting here felling exactly the same way 😢 wish I would have done some more research and found this. I’m still in terrible pain and it’s been three day smh! It’s a shame
All I can say is thank you a million times for this information.I am being badgered to death by my GYN to have a uterine biopsy and there is just nothing about that procedure that sounds like a good idea and now knowing unless they hit the exact spot they can miss cancer and the pain that goes along with this I will be telling my GYN exactly what u said.I am 48 and have severe abnormal uterine bleeding and I agree I need my womb checked but I want under sedation and I want accuracy so again thank u so much for this info it will empower more women than u can imagine.

Thank you for this video doctor. I have been up all night terrified of the biopsy. I think some doctors have a lack of concern when it comes to women an pain. We are expected to grin and bear it, and it is traumatic. Some women get numerous biopsies and suffer in silence, and for poor test results at that. I am so glad you shared this and I will research the sonogram.

Great advice I’m having a Hysteroscopy and D&C under a general for a good look and biopsy so I’ll be 100% sure about the status of everything. So glad I read this as I thought the other would be easier and cheaper but I’m happy now.
Wow ,wish I would have seen this today ! I cried during the process,it was so painful. And then to not have 100 accuracy they gonna come back with a accurate answer is depressing.
I went to have a pap done back in May for the first time because I was having light residual bleeding for a few day after periods.. Thankfully it was negative and I also had some blood work done to check thyroid and prolactin levels because they said that that can also cause abnormal bleeding. Well the blood work came back normal as well. So then they gave me a referral to have an endometrial biopsy which I have not scheduled yet. I wanted to research the procedure first and that's pretty much the moment I became horrified.. the procedure, other women's testimonials about the experience.. So I've been in agony on whether or not if i should even have this done.. However they did suggest to be sedated... but I don't want to be knocked out either... so i'm still up in the air on what to do next... I'm really glad I saw this video.
Matteroftime⌚ Just because u didn’t have a bad experience doesn’t mean that “isn’t too bad” This procedure is fuking painful and can’t believe doctors actually do it without any sedation. This is barbaric. 99.9% of people have a very painful experience.
I had a ultrasound of my uterus where they look at the lining after filling the uterus with fluid in June of 2020. That was extremely painful with nothing given to ease the pain. We then scheduled a D&C For the end of July. I was still getting periods at age 60!! The D&C went ok but afterwards I got a full blown period and it still comes about every 2-3 months! Time for another opinion as I'll be 63 in January!
I'm having a bx this Friday. But, since I am also suffering from POP, my uterus will be coming out anyhow.... so, I imagine the uterus will be sent for testing anyhow, but to be sure, I will ask my GYN about that. I am praying that my bx comes back all good.
I had my cervix bx...all good...so now I am scheduled for the hysterectomy the middle of next month. I can't wait to have it done, no more heavy periods (I have had them since 1989) and they are fixing my pelvic organ prolapse...so I will get to go to the bathroom like normal once again. :) I like my GYN, he gave me a couple of pills to take before my appointment for the bx... I barely remembered the appointment. I didn't get to have the endometrial bx done because my fibroid is keeping him from getting his tools inside my uterus.
I wish I could say that I had cramping or discomfort or still feel the ache days later... instead two times I have done this, they have been scrutiatingly painful. It truly feels barbaric in nature. It is beyond my comprehension how this level of pain can be acceptable.
I also am going to have a d&c because there is no reason that women should have to go through painful procedures without proper sedation. I am going to ask if I can have a total hysterectomy instead. I am 71 years old and will not be having any babies at this time.lol. anyway, I wish all of us good luck with our test results.
Yes but a total hysterectomy could cause your bladder and rectum to prolapse. I would only do it unless as a last result in case of non treatable cancer.
If tou had a blind biopsy like me, yiu can always ask your dr. To do the hystescopy, its never too late. Some insurances require blind biopsy before they perform anything under general anesthesia. There are more complictions when giving you general.
I had a transvaginal scan three years ago, had a tiny bit of bleeding, but may sound daft but not even sure if it came from the womb or my bladder as I did pass a kidney stone about a year after. it was that faint. Anway my measurements were 4.8mm and they wanted to do a biopsy I said no. They said come back if you bleed again. Three years later I haven't bled but had a scan the other week and measurements now gone to 7mm. Radiologist wants me to have a Hysteroscopy but I won't be able to tolerate that without GE. I can't even stand a smear. I've had no children and I'm wondering if it's just vaginal atrophy and thickness because of Oestrogen problems.
Do what the doctor says to do. If it is cancer, like mine was, the sooner it is treated the better you will be. Tell the doctor your fears, they can help you.
Ty for clarifying this on the biopsy. I was set up for one on 11/17/2023. I’ve been concerned about endometrial cancer as my sister is stage 4 now. I’m not bleeding 🩸 and am 68 and had negative mammogram as well. It just sounds like women are doomed to get this cancer and every one I know is running to get a hysterectomy. It like your waiting for impending doom. Negative brca in my sister and she had breast cancer twice already. Glad you explained this. Ty
So is endometrial biopsy the same as DNC? Because I want for just basic check up , because I was bleeding in between my period n all of a sudden the doctor did this biopsy on me. It iwas very very very painful about two weeks ago n I am still feeling lots of pain with cramping.
I just had the biopsy done yesterday and I couldn't believe they make women do this procedure with no pain management. Its unreal. Seems barbaric. It doesn't last long but still.
I had a biopsy done and I still am.bleeding oh boy I'm all new to this stuff and I have super anxiety I have endometrial hyperplasia and even with the meds they gave me I continue to bleed but my endometrial linning is abnormally thick now I am experiencing nausea dizziness and passing blood clots.im scared and not really sure what to do I've been bleeding since august 2019 this is insane
You're bleeding bc of the reason for the endometrial biopsy...the hyperplasia. That causes abnormal bleeding on its own. The bleeding from the procedure itself is usually minimal and self resolving unless a complication has occurred like perforating the uterus during the procedure.
I had Novasure ablation done over 10 years ago, took Tamoxifen after lumpectomy and radiation, I am now scheduled to have a pelvic sonogram because I've been having intermittent brown discharge for the past few months. I prefer to be put to sleep for any type of biopsy done if needed which I'm certain I will. I finished up a round of antibiotic's and a two day pill in case it was yeast or vaginosis. Negative testing for std's. I've had no pelvic cramping or pain either. Are you sedated or twilight sleep while having the Goldstein Sonobiopsy Catheter procedure?
So how would you know if there's nothing funky going on? Ultrasound? Those are only images. The best way is to get a sample and have it checked by pathology. Would you really risk your health by doing nothing? My doctor did not want to do the d and c the first time. However when I had a second ultrasound the endometrium was thicker than before. So we decided on the d and c done by general anesthesia. Im 47 and starting to have irregular periods. I cant just ignore my symptoms.
Did you not listen to the video? He didn't say do nothing. He said you need to not check it blindly. Meaning a hysteroscopy would allow you to visialize the cavity and see where suspicious looking tissue is so that samples can be taken from those areas and not just a random spot with a blind biopsy. 🤔
I had this biopsy done and had severe nausea + hot/cold flushes for a couple of weeks (was told couldn't be the biopsy because it went on too long). Throughout my temperature reading was normal (??!) and no sign of infection. I wondered if it was a reaction to the pippell (plastic inserted to take sample). Anyone had this issue. Already asked the docs who don't know what it is :(
I had a biopsy over a month ago.And now im having frequent urination was told i had a bladder infection. Took antibiotics and later was told it cleared. But strange i still have frequent urination . And this began 3 to 4 days after the biopsy. Im seeing a urologist next month. Not exactly sure if the biopsy had caused an infection. But i regret i even did it to be honest. And it was so painful i wasn't told i could take a pain reliever beforehand.
I think there is a big difference between women who've had children amd women who havent...if they are pre or post menopausal as well when it comes to the pain of the procedure and post procedure. My hsg was much worse than my endometrial biopsy.
I’m canceling my appointment, my doctor wants to get one done because I have A fibroid size of grapefruit and she said either way I still have to get the biopsy done, like it was mandatory for me to do , at this point I want my uterus remove. So no need for biopsy’s.
My new OBGYN wants me to go thru this horrible procedure and she always says how easy and fast it is in office. So?!! It's traumatic and painful for us women without anesthesia! I'm done with this crap. I had cervical cancer and a LEEP in 2012 and Bartholin Gland access surgeries nonstop for 3 years 2008-2010!!! I was never put out for any of them and was left shaking and bleeding and miserable. What I went through was INHUMANE and archaic methods of torture!! I ended up nearly dying of MRSA! NOW, I have abnormal menstrual bleeding at age 46, period showed up 10 days early this time and my OBGYN is pushing this horrible procedure on me. Oh what to do. I don't have the pain tolerance anymore. So tired of this. Being a woman absolutely is hell!
I don’t blame you for your hesitation and I’m so sorry you have been through so much ! My OBGYN was trying convince me to get an endometrial biopsy in his office , he said “it feels like a pinch” …. That was a year ago , I said no( I already knew the procedure was painful ) asked for a copy of my medical record , I left and never went back
I had two DNC hysteroscopy a biopsy I’m on Progesterone I never had bleeding I go for ultrasound every 6 months an they reduced my progesterone so my lining thickened mow they want to repeat. I said up my progesterone like it was
My doctor wants to do a Endometrial biopsy cause of the lining of uterus is thick. I have no problems...I have 28 days cycle, 4 days period, no heavy bleeding or pain. I thought the lining of the uterus suppose to thicken after menstrual cycle
Men are given anesthesia for testicular biopsies. It makes no sense why women are forced to suffer for their biopsies. I would demand the same anesthesia they give the men and also request a strong pain medication such as codeine to manage the pain that lasts a week after the procedure.
These doctors need to stop telling women these procedures are painless! They are not! I had a uterine biopsy that found my cancer .I had a hysterectomy as a result...It is wrong to minimize the pain these test cause..Coming from a man who in fact does not have a uterus, how can you tell us what hurts and doesn't? That's irritating as hell! Also, I wonder how you would feel if you had your uterus filled up with saline fluid and tools poking around inside your body while you are wide awake? Oh! Wait! You don't have a uterus,so you wouldn't have a clue! Smdh!
I agree with everything you said! I had this procedure done on Wednesday and I thought I was going to die! I’ve never felt pain like this in my life!! I’m on day 3 after the procedure and I think I have an infection. I have severe pain in my legs and lower abdomen, I’m bleeding heavily and I have a fever! I would’ve never ever agreed to this if I knew it was this bad! They told me minor cramping! That’s BS! They shouldn’t be allowed to perform this procedure on women… it should be illegal!!!!!!!
@@Lauren-cq3co not quite, this Friday I go in for a vaginal ultrasound to see if I have any abnormal growths. So, results shortly after that I'll know more. Gyno. thinks I may just have a thick uterine lining, so I'll probably end up getting the IUD inserted. Not sure if I'll ever get that biopsy 🤔
I have PCOS and since I've been diagnosed I have had irregular periods. Well for the past montu or so I have been spotting and bleeding. My doctor wants to give an endometriosis biopsy. I asked her if we could try birth control to stop my cycles bur she is insisting I have this biopsy. I dont want it tho
Please have the hysteroscopy like this doctor says. Don't wait because early detection and treatment is crucial. Overcome your fear-- seek counseling, etc. Please, you are so worth it!
Of course you don't want it but birth control is just a cover up. If you've had kids, it typically is not as painful. It's worth screening to rule out something serious but yes have the hysteroscopy with it.
Can you recommend a doctor in Rockland County, NY. It is very had to find doctors with experience. I was diagnosed in 2015 with endometriosis and surgically diagnosed in 2016 when my doctor was removing a chocolate cyst. The doctor drained the cyst and told me I had the worst case she ever saw and could not remove the cyst and my condition was out of her expertise. In 2017 had a complete hysterectomy and diagnosed with anometriosis . I also hemorrhages 2 weeks to the day after the hysterectomy. Since the hysterectomy I have had nothing but issues and in constant pain.
Thank you! Most pointless and painful procedure, and I’m not even a doctor and I know this. I’ve had 2 endometrial biopsies, but I’ve yet to figure out what the point is when I have NO uterine lining, thanks to an ablation. From what I’ve been told, it’s for insurance purposes in preparation for a radical hysterectomy for uterine fibroids and recurring ovarian cysts at 56 years of age.
Oh my gosh! I had a similar experience. I feel traumatized now and will never have it done again. I’m so sorry!
I had a similar experience. Horrible.
Not to mention a uterine biopsy is very painful. I couldn't believe I wasn't given anything for pain or even told to take anything for the pain.
the same here I had mine done today and that mess hurt like He**
It was so painful
Me too. I had one days ago and I'm still in pain.

b) Disposable Office Hysteroscopy
Just had a biopsy done 2 days ago. Most painful thing I have been through without meds. Never again never again. Wish I would have passed. Horrible

Good afternoon Dr. Steven, I was told by my gynecologist Dr. today to have a endometrial biopsy and I found your video today. are you in California??

99.9% of people have a very painful experience.
I had a ultrasound of my uterus where they look at the lining after filling the uterus with fluid in June of 2020. That was extremely painful with nothing given to ease the pain. We then scheduled a D&C For the end of July. I was still getting periods at age 60!! The D&C went ok but afterwards I got a full blown period and it still comes about every 2-3 months! Time for another opinion as I'll be 63 in January!
My mother finished having periods when she was 63. My grandmother was 64. They are completely healthy.
We as women need to stand up for ourselves and DEMAND anesthesia for our procedures! Men are always given anesthesia for their procedures!!!!!
I am 71 years old and will not be having any babies at this time.lol. anyway, I
wish all of us good luck with our test results.
Yes but a total hysterectomy could cause your bladder and rectum to prolapse. I would only do it unless as a last result in case of non treatable cancer.
@karen E Klag I hope you didn’t do it.
I heard that if you haven't given birth vaginally that it is very painful. I never had children so that resonated with me
If tou had a blind biopsy like me, yiu can always ask your dr.
@@happycook6737 Hi I had the biopsy and Hystoscopy March 2020, all was well
@@fedupbin Fantastic!!!! I'm happy to hear your great news. 🎉👏👍😃
@@happycook6737 Hope you are ok too
@@fedupbin I had ultrasound then biopsy. Biopsy found cancer. Now having total removal.
If you have an endometrial biopsy while you're on your period or bleeding will the results be accurate
Ty
How are you doing now?
Is it normal when doctor scratches 500 mm square tissue from inside of the endometrium with straw technique given for the endometrial biopsy?
Yes.
Omg I had one two days ago and my period came heavier than ever and im cramping terribly!!! 😢
So is endometrial biopsy the same as DNC? Because I want for just basic check up , because I was bleeding in between my period n all of a sudden the doctor did this biopsy on me. It iwas very very very painful about two weeks ago n I am still feeling lots of pain with cramping.
Debora Deborah no it is not the same
There are YT videos on both
I just had the biopsy done yesterday and I couldn't believe they make women do this procedure with no pain management. Its unreal. Seems barbaric. It doesn't last long but still.
There must be some medical push for this. Money?
I had a biopsy done and I still am.bleeding oh boy I'm all new to this stuff and I have super anxiety I have endometrial hyperplasia and even with the meds they gave me I continue to bleed but my endometrial linning is abnormally thick now I am experiencing nausea dizziness and passing blood clots.im scared and not really sure what to do I've been bleeding since august 2019 this is insane
Tina Tina Omg , what are they doing to help you?
@@thematrix496 nothing at the moment my insurance switched and I'm still waiting two months after to get my new obgyn..
@@TinaTina-wt5wu That is ridiculous!! You're suffering. We need better health care and non barbaric ways to exam us down there.
@@thematrix496 I agree
You're bleeding bc of the reason for the endometrial biopsy...the hyperplasia. That causes abnormal bleeding on its own. The bleeding from the procedure itself is usually minimal and self resolving unless a complication has occurred like perforating the uterus during the procedure.
Thank you for this important video and message
Wow if someone would of told me 5yrs ago my symptoms and blind biopsies I had would of found my uterine cancer I have today..😢
My doctor did not want to do the
d and c the first time. However when I had a second ultrasound the endometrium was thicker than before. So we decided on the
d and c done by general anesthesia.
I don't understand this at all or how it relates to my situation. If Dr. Goldstein wants to consult on my case, please feel free to let me know.
@@mariewinter8869 It wouldn't have helped, which is why they don't bother telling you to take anything.
My insurance requires this before doing a hysterectomy
That was a year ago , I said no( I already knew the procedure was painful ) asked for a copy of my medical record , I left and never went back
@@Araksi_Nhow are you doing now?
What’s your take on using progesterone to prevent endometrial cancer?
If you’re on Any estrogen you need to have biodentical progrsterone. You should not take synthetic hormones only bioidentical hormones.
so then how do they check for uterine cancer?
I had two DNC hysteroscopy a biopsy I’m on Progesterone I never had bleeding I go for ultrasound every 6 months an they reduced my progesterone so my lining thickened mow they want to repeat. I said up my progesterone like it was
My doctor wants to do a Endometrial biopsy cause of the lining of uterus is thick. I have no problems...I have 28 days cycle, 4 days period, no heavy bleeding or pain. I thought the lining of the uterus suppose to thicken after menstrual cycle
Did you have it done?
To a certain point but beyond a certain measurement could mean hyperplasia which is a concern for pre cancer.
I was told i need one
Wish I’d have known this a week ago.....
I just had one and kicked the shit out of the Dr I said my bad that's my reflexes it hurt like hell !
Thanks Dr
i hate the thought of having this procedure
They want to biopsy me to see why my periods are heavy. I'm anemic... And want to get to the bottom of why... 🤔 What to do, what to do??
How are you now? Did you get some answers?
@@Lauren-cq3co not quite, this Friday I go in for a vaginal ultrasound to see if I have any abnormal growths. So, results shortly after that I'll know more. Gyno. thinks I may just have a thick uterine lining, so I'll probably end up getting the IUD inserted. Not sure if I'll ever get that biopsy 🤔
@@amorenita4768How are you doing? Hope all well. Did you get the biopsy?
This is what happing too me
I have PCOS and since I've been diagnosed I have had irregular periods.
It’s better to have uterus removed with leproscopy. Than biopsy bleeding
I know endometriosis can be treated. My ob gyn knew.
Why should women suffer pain when there are options. They wouldn’t do this to an animal.
Thanks Dr
