You're absolutely right ! I had mine in April 22nd 2022 I too felt that unnecessarily they have removed my uterus and ovaries 😢..bcoz my uterus only slipped down and the 2nd problem is my 2nd delivery was forceps delivery and the cut below my vagina was not properly stitched and came out..my doctor can as well put (my uterus) back in place and could have stitched that bottom cut..now I'm suffering a lot..now I cannot do any thing ..feeling so sad 😞 I regret 😢 now ..but what about the hypothalamus gland which is near pituitary gland ..I read somewhere that hypothalamus gland in the brain will also produce estrogen Harmon we need .. as an alternative..is that true...hope some body will answer..
@@snehalatha6845 well #5 isn't true even though I had hysterectomy I still have orgasms and I'm almost 55 and had it in my 20s because of prolapse uterus and abnormal paper smear. I do have pretty much just about all the other side effects though, although have had constipation issues all my life so maybe it made it worse but not caused it.
For constipation, there's on way to deal with.. it's ginger and honey..prepare it with on e inch ginger (cut it into small pieces and soak it with 2 teaspoons of honey..after half an hour take it before you go to bed..you can even have sugarcane juice, bananas also for free motion.

I thank God deep down in my soul for my historectomy !!! I bled horribly during my periods, n t pain was horrific !!! After my surgery I started feeling awsome---no more pain. During my period, as I sat, I could feel these huge blood clots commin out n down to my pad. I'd have to change my pad 2-3 times an hour. What a mess !!! I'm 68 now n frm then till now, I'm so happy !!!
I totally understand what you went through because I went through the same exact thing I was 46 when I had mine and that was 6 years ago and I've had no issues ever since and I tell you it's been a blessing sometimes maybe people might have complications afterward but I have not and I'm very thankful for it I'm glad that you're doing well.

Same, Rose. My friend got ovarian cancer in her 50s - killed her. I will never have to worry about that - had them & my uterus removed. Ladies, don’t take a chance with ovarian or uterine cancer when they are organs you don’t need after having your family. If you have female issues - just get rid of the whole thing. Your family loves & needs you. My doctor said he wished every lady would do this because he has watched some of his patients die.

I am 73 and same for me. Had mine at age 25. Changed me life totally for the good. Hemorage like periods every 2 weeks. Forever thankful this guy was not my doctor. I have never felt any sagging and thankfully I do not have incontenance. My doc did leave my ovaries and I had to have the remved when I was 40. No orgasims. This guy is totally nuts.

Thank you to all the women who have commented saying their hysterectomy was the best thing they ever did. I am currently being treated for endometrial hyperplasia and if the treatment doesn’t work then it will be a hysterectomy. I have been super worried but you have all made me feel so much better and I won’t be so scared if that is the route I have to go down.
You will be ok what I would do is prepare now since you may or may not need it. Research the best obgyn that specializes in the surgery you may want vaginal robotic etc. make sure they also specialize in suturing. You may or may not want to use the obgyn you currently have. Gather any questions. 99.9 percent of women who have a hysterectomy for issues that hold them back from living their best life are so happy after !! Hysterectomy should either be to save your life or Improve your life !! Sex gets batter because pain and stress from other issues pain heavy bleeding babysitting the uterus re over :) start eating healthy if you are not already exercise by walking and meditate etc treatments are good but the best way to stop the tests and follow ups and ultrasounds and bleeding is a hysterectomy :) I have heavy lining too ugh and if it doesn’t get better I am getting the uterus OUT a partial probably this spring . Not sure your age but sometimes the lining will thin after menopause on its own if you are younger 30s 40s and the lining is 14 or higher I would get the uterus out ! Mine is 9 and I am 52 after menopause a lining 14 or more they worry about cancer
@@marias2746 I wonder if you are American - it is just that in Canada where I live you have to be referred to a specialist by your primary care provider (family doctor). I do like my OB/GYN and his first course of treatment was not hysterectomy but to try treatment to see if the uterus can be save as he said there are dangers in removing it but if that is what needs to be done then we will do that. Also he has been practicing long enough that he is from the era that of do the hysterectomy and get it over with. I am 60 and have had 2 D and C’s since 2017 and I was still having bleeding. The last one was in 2019 and he said he took out a lot of material the 2nd time. I am hopeful that this will work but if not I feel much more confident in the potential hysterectomy thanks to all the people who shared their stories! If it can be saved (since there are many harmful side effects from removing the uterus even more side effect is the cervix goes with it ) he is wise to try other options first. Question is a D and C the same as an ablation? I am going to ask if I can do the d and c … I prefer to only have major surgery if nothing else works. I am 52 ! Thank you for sharing ! @@marias2746 D and C is Dilation and curettage and is meant to scrape the endometrium from the inside of the uterus - the two procedures (D and C and ablation) are different but seem to be used for the same issues. I go back in March to have the endometrium checked again to see if treatment is having a positive effect or not. If not then it will be hysterectomy and if it is working then continue the treatment. I hope all goes well for you - I know by the time I hit 60 I was wanting all this bleeding to be in the past!!!! Oh well here is hoping we both get theses problems sorted out sooner than later! 😊

My hysterectomy changed my life. My uterus had fibroids inside and wrapped around the outside. I would have heavy periods for months at a time. It was to the point where I started needing blood transfusions. It's been 12 years AND SEX IS GREAT.

I have one but I have 5 fibroids and the bleeding is killing me. I'm just so stressed I'm going to tell my obgyn to remove it and not worry about saving my uterus because at least I have one child.

I had my hysterectomy 19 years ago and I'm 53 and doing great. I had the same experiences u had but doing great now
I bled so heavily and it wouldn’t stop. They gave me 6 units of blood because I was so anemic. I had tried endometrial ablation, birth control pills, but nothing helped, so they did hysterectomy. Doctor said all blood tests were normal, no fibroids or cancer, even my hormones; they were never able to find the cause of my heavy bleeding.
I had a hysterectomy at 24 years old I'd already had three children by that time because I was constantly bleeding all the time and in constant Agony and pain! Having a hysterectomy was the best thing I ever did in my life I'm 58 years old now and I have not experienced any of the pelvic issues that he's speaking of.

@@Angelskris333 well, I had it done back when they used to cut you open at the bikini line and it was very painful recovery. However now they do it vaginally and a friend of mine had it done and she had hardly any down time at all. And it wasn't very painful. I hope this helps.

I was 24 when I had my hysterectomy. Severe dysplasia, bleeding almost constantly. Found stage 1 cancer in the base of my uterus after removal, the biopsies didn’t detect the cancer, only pathology after surgery. I’m now 62. Haven’t had a period since age 24. I’m very happy about that!! I do have some bladder urgency, but none of the other problems he spoke of! Although surgery may not be the answer for everyone, it was a miracle for me, gave me my life back from constant bleeding. My surgery was done vaginally, so I had no external incisions. My doctor (surgeon) was a lady and I feel she did the best for my situation! Healing time was easier and no scars!! If men had to live with what we women do, I seriously doubt there would be a question of removal if it means returning to normal life without all of the female issues we endure!! Don’t have unnecessary surgeries, but don’t be afraid to get the help you need, just find the right doctor!❤️

@@tonyawms3186 I’m in Pittsburgh PA. I went to Magee Womens Hospital then. Her name was Dr Geri Kasper. I’m sure she’s retired now, my surgery was 1984. Long time ago. But I highly recommend Magee Hospital. Good luck to you❤️

You can ABSOLUTELY still have an organism after a hysterectomy…. In fact a lot of women have a better sex life after a hysterectomy. Everyone is different and everyone has different complications and improvements. I had a hysterectomy and I have no trouble with having an organism….

I had fibroids and endometriosis. I had a full 5 to 6 day period every 19 days. One of the BEST things I ever did for my health was get a hysterectomy when I was 38 years old. Also, I did not go into menopause until my middle 50’s. I had absolutely NONE of the negative side effects or results mentioned in this video.
I can relate. I tried to schedule my schedule around my period start dates when possible. I would be so sick.

I had a hysterectomy at age 41 because I had fibroids. It was the best decision of my life. I kept my ovaries and I’m 69 now with no negative side effects.
You never needed HRT? I had my hysterectomy 2 years ago. I'm 44 now and on HRT because I had hot flashes, insomnia, severe mood swings a year or so post surgery

You can tell he’s never had problems with an enlarged uterus and fibroids the size of large oranges!! The pain and bleeding is unbearable and I have been fighting for two years now to have a hysterectomy and continue to do so!
Look into a gluten free diet.
Home cooked gluten free is best. Packaged foods are not healthy.
I don’t know how old you are or if you have (or want) children. But, your situation sounds very similar to mine. I, literally, had to go to the doctor’s office every single month (some times twice in one month) for about 12 months before I saw a doctor who recognized the severity of my health problem and he gave me viable options for remedy. One of those options was a hysterectomy. Like I wrote in my first comment, it was the absolute best health decision I have made!!🎉

Lol, your right! I had one 20 years ago, and wish I got it sooner. It was the size of a 4 month pregnancy. Full of fibroid and endometriosis.
My Hysterectomy was 3 weeks ago. I’m feeling great. I had constipation and frequent urination due to my fibroids. Now neither of those is a problem. Hoping to not have issues with prolapse but I’m feeling positive that this was the best option for me.
Lorraine I had hysterectomy 6 years ago this August due to multiple fibroids and endometriosis, it was the best dession I've ever made, lived with fibroids and endo for 10 years couldn't of gone on any long due to the pain, as you well know how you suffer when having fibroids.

Mine in 1996 was due to very heavy periods and one month i bled the entire month till i was pale ready to black out. My doc told me do the surgery which i did no problems. I also had very trembling hands all that stopped after the surgery

Baking soda and molasses will dissolve those! Parasites cause them, having the hysterectomy doesn't cleanse the parasites from the body, which cause EVERY DIS-EASE! Every woman's body is different. Having a hysterectomy gave me my life back.One of the best decision I made medically.I had chronic fatigue I suffered with fibroids for years heavy painful embarrassing bleeding and passing large blood clots.Periods lasting 6-8 days .I had two blood transfusion to save my life. I had a complete hysterectomy in 2011 I'm 61 years old.I hadn't experienced any bladder leakage dry vaginal issues with having a climate .I haven't taken any hormonal replacement .I haven't grown any facial hair. I have absolutely no complaints. I do the kegal excerise to keep my bladder muscle strong.

Yes!! I had a hysterectomy due to very heavy bleeding too. The bleeding got so bad that I needed an iron infusion twice!! But after having my uterus removed, (I told my doctor to leave my ovaries in so I could continue going into menopause naturally) my life improved greatly!! I made it thru menopause with little side effects and my life improved a great deal!!

Yes, I was going through the same thing heavy periods and the blood clotting… I have heavy periods when I first started my period when I was 9 now I am 38… I done tried every birth control method now I am looking towards of having a hysterectomy done.

I had a hysterectomy when I was around 30. I am not constipated, my bladder works fine and I have more orgasms than I have ever had! I didn't want more children, never had to worry about painful periods. It was the best thing I ever did! Quit saying such negative things. The surgery itself was not fun but afterwards I felt better. Still today, I feel better with a happier sex life than ever 😊
This guy is an idiot. If he was a Urologist advising a man about the need for prostate removal surgery, he would expect the man to allow it, with a definitive future that includes urinary incontinence and the inability to have orgasms.

I'm afraid I totally disagree. I was 33 when I had my hysterectomy and I am now nearly 75. I have had none of the so called side effects. You can't generalise like this and frighten people.
I agree my friend I removed my uterus,ovaries and fallopian tubes 2018,I was 56yrs still heavy menstruating.discomfort was immediately after surgery now iam super happy and intimacy wow at 59now!

Thank You for being so honest. My Mother was told She had to have an emergency hysterectomy at 40yrs old. No cancer, only Fibroid. Mind You, She had been a Planned Parenthood patient for 10yrs getting pap smears done annually. My Mother developed heart disease after hysterectomy as well as experiencing the constant feeling of emptiness in abdomen. The abdominal incision gave her low self esteem and her sexual desire disappeared. She lost her figure and feminine shape. My Mother passed at 63 massive heart attack. She was no smoker, didn't use alcohol/drugs. My Maternal GrandMother never had a hysterectomy and lived with her fibroids to be 83. Her figured was so preserved and skin was only starting to wrinkled under her neck slightly. The hysterectomy definitely aged my Mother and decreased her quality of life.
There are some doctors who are performing hysterectomies unnecessarily. A few years ago I suffered from heavy periods and after an exam he quickly suggested a hysterectomy. I had no cysts, fibroids or any other conditions. I told him absolutely not, and I went for a second opinion and fortunately the problem was treated. I'm so glad I didn't let them do the surgery.
Diane - you have never watched a friend die do to cancer of organs you do not need inside you. Bio-identical hormones are widely available. Hope you do not end up being a statistic.

If it's MEDICALLY NECESSARY then it's perfectly acceptable to elect to have a hysterectomy. I would never advise anyone not to have surgery based on their own personal medical circumstances. What I said was there are some doctors who are performing hysterectomies unnecessarily, and my own personal experience. Next time read very carefully before coming on here commenting. I work in the healthcare industry and I am totally aware that there are medical issues that may arise when a hysterectomy is MEDICALLY NECESSARY!

I worked in food service at the school system where my 3 kids went to school, so I had the summers off work so i could be home with my kids. After about 3 yrs I started having very bad periods, but I was young & hate doctors so thought it was just heavy periods like i always had. It got worse and i couldnt find a gynocologist to get me in so went to my family dr. They did sonigram and found a 9 pound tumir, did emergency surgery after i got a referal to a gynocholologist (and she was also a cancer dr). Best doctor in ks city. She removed the 9 pound tumor which was benign. I had biggest tumor she had ever seen. She had to do a 2nd surgery after I got home from the 1st big hystetectomy surgery. She asked me if I wanted everything taken out and i said yes. After 2nd surgery I have been great for many yrs now. I know the tumir was from all the chemicals I was brwathing at the schools food service building. We used strong cleaning chemicals all day long & that is what caused my 9 pound tumor to grow so fast. I was lucky it wasn't cancerous. These cleaning places are a hot house for people to get cancer but they wont tell the workers that. I think a large % of cancer tiday is caused by chemicals people breath in all around them.
Doctors can say what they want to a patient but the final decision is up to the patient. I have had surgery after surgery in my life. I am a rare person who was born with problems. I have almost died 4 times. I was one of the 1st heart patient surgerys in 1960s. I had a 9 pound tumor, biggest dr had ever seen. My appendix exploded into gang green and i was very close to dying. I had heart surgery and i was the ghinny pig with doctors from all over the world studying me, at the learning hospital, KU Medical center in kansas city, missouri. I was one of the 1st one-hundred heart surgerys done when there were no computers or fancy machines back in the 1960s. They cut me open through my whole side if my body, took out a rib of mine, put me on a breathing machine, didnt use much pain killers back then either. They tild my parents I probably wont live through it, but God let
me live. I would pass out from the pain, it was so bad. I can tell you, just do your homework, listen to your doctors and make the final decision yourself. And accept the Loed Jesus Christ as yiyr Lord & Savior, and repent of your sins because when you die you go to heaven or hell and you dont want hell.

This Dr is spot on on many things. Everyone is different and not everyone will experience all of these symptoms. Had a hysterectomy 20yrs ago and wish I never had to. Yes somethings changed for the better, ie no more periods. No I don't suffer from constipation or sexual issues but certainly the loss of pelvic support.
My hysterectomy at the age of 31, was a blessing. I had fibroids, endometriosis, and PCOS. I'm 54 now, couldn't be happier. No more pain, bleeding for months on end. No more blood transfusions, 13 pints were given to me over 6 months, before my surgery. I saw 7 doctors, before I found one that would do my surgery. I love my Dr, he saved my life. My hysterectomy was necessary.

After giving birth to 3 babies, and serving 20 years in the military, I was still having my monthly menstrual periods, which came wirh huge painful blood clots, caused by fibroids, up until the the age of 50, when I finally had a partial hysterectomy, in 2007, that only removed my uterus and left my ovaries, only because when the doctor attempted to remove my ovaries, there was excessive bleeding, so the doctor decided to leave them. Now, with my ovaries still intact, I dont have to have hormone replacement. It is now 2022 and I am now 65 yrs old and ever since the surgery, I have been feeling absolutely GREAT!!! And in the best of health!!! I did have incontinence which was happening for years waaayyy before the hysterectomy which was caused by the tilted uterus and prolapsed bladder. So eventually I had a bladder sling put in 2011, and havent had any issues with incontinence or anything else since.
Also most people think Im no where near the age of 65!!!
I totally agree. I had a full hysterectomy 40 years ago. I was 32. I'm now 72. I was put on HRT for 20 years. I had breast cancer 7 years ago. It's back again, and now it's spread to my lungs. I was strong and well before. Having a hysterectomy wrecked my life and my marriage. I have had M.E/CFS for 40 years. So for me it was the worsted thing I ever did. We are all different.

It's drugs and surgery that has destroyed my life. At 72, I'm not putting myself through any more trauma. What ever I do now will be holistic. I'm going to take an off label drug, called Low dose Neltrexon. It helps with all the health problems I have. Thank you.

All these things he mentioned happened to me. I went into deep depression. And suicidal! And lastly it has completely destroyed my libido! It’s just awful. I regret getting a total hysterectomy. I want to feel again. I want to help my husband feel better too. Please don’t do it if you are younger.

My beautiful Mother had a hysterectomy in 1965 at the age of only 40. To summarize, she told her twin daughters to pursue every option to hysterectomy, every option. I was so thankful for her advice.

I'm African American. I had very large fibroids and every ob/gyn (2) suggested that I have a hysterectomy. At 54 my cycle was the heaviest. I changed pads very often because of the heaviness of my periods. I felt a heaviness in my uterus and on occasion lower back pain. That said...I refused to have a hysterectomy because I did my research and learned that it came with complications. I also learned the importance of the uterus and how it supports the other organs. Why exchange one problem for another that is irreversible. I stopped menstruating at 55 and I'm so happy that I hung in there and did not get a hysterectomy. I still have fibroids but not as large and I feel GREAT. My stomach is just about flat. I have no sexual issues or health problems. Patience is key. Not quick fixes. I'm 62 now and I do not encourage any woman to have a hysterectomy unless it is ABSOLUTELY necessary. Have a healthy diet, exercise and reduce as much stress in your life as possible. Oh, and eliminate meat and dairy from your diet. That will help with other health problems as well.
I did the same....waited for nature to take its course, and my periods finally stopped at age 55. Thankful that I waited, instead of having major surgery for a temporary problem.

Glad I saw this. I’m 49 with 3 lemon size fibroids and lately it’s been the only thing they think is causing this pain and discomfort, bad cramps etc. bloating too. But it’s pain all inside. They suggested removing just my uterus and leaving my tubes. I’m just hesitant since I’m nearing menopause. Not sure what to do
Glad it worked out for you. I’m 47 with stage 4endometriosis, fibroids, endometriomas, uterine polyps . I was first diagnosed with endometriosis 21 years ago. I never wanted to remove my uterus but I can’t go through the heavy bleeding, pain migraines & high blood pressure for another 5 years . I am having surgery today to remove my uterus and one ovary. I am praying that the doctor can save at least one ovary!!!

My doctor recommended that I have a hysterectomy. I was not experiencing any pain or had any signs of cancer. My only issue was heavy bleeding due to fibroids and anemia . Her reasoning for the surgery was I in my 50s and no longer interested in having children and would no longer have to worry with the inconvenience of having a period. I heard about all the side effects of this surgery and I didn’t want to do it. My doctor did not want to provide me with any alternative. So I did my own research and had an UFE done. My fibroids have shrunk and I no longer experience the heavy bleeding. Before you have a major life altering surgery like a hysterectomy, see if you the UFE is right for you. It was for me.
THANK You for the info, I am 59yrs old and at 56 I was strongly recommend I have a Complete Hysterectomy due to 3 fibroids and 1 being the size of an orange but I refused bc there was not even a trace of Cancer and I stopped having periods at 45 so I asked her for my options and she said a Hysterectomy was my only option but bc I already suffer from chronic pain due to Lupus and several other health issues I don't want to go through more pain by agreeing to get butchered! That is one of my options however my doctor scared the mess out of me because if by any chance I get pregnant after UFE it could be life threatening. Thats what she told me.
Did the doctor tell you where your fibroids located because I have exact same symptom with you , not much pain just tummy bloated and heavy period , my fibroid location is not even cause the heavy bleeding because it’s outside uterus even though it’s 6cm. And I’m close to 50. I’m thinking either hysterectomy or UFE but leaning towards hysterectomy and my doctor agree . But i still undecided.

What is UFE?
I removed my uterus that was 21 cm big in 2019 due to Adenomyosis, which led to heavy monthly periods. Going for this surgery changed my life for good ! I still have my both ovaries. I prayed hard for God to direct me and I made sure my body was in great shape before the surgery. A lot of sports to to build enough belly muscles and healthy eating. The doctors at the hospital could not believe that a large uterus was hiding behind that flat belly. Since then my gynaecologist is amazed how tight my pelvic floor muscles and cervix are when I go for yearly control. What I noticed that it can take time for your digestive system to balance after the organs have rearranged themselves. God loves me the way I am and I thank God that this type of surgery is available for those who needs it.
I had one 10 years ago, at 35. I had problems from day one of my first cycle, and even before. Ovarian cysts that burst, painful periods that lasted no less than 9 days, periods every 20 days...as a teenager, this is not something one should go through just to have kids later. The final straw came when I had my youngest, and instead of the standard 6 weeks postpartum bleeding, I ran for 10 months straight. Finally, my doctor agreed that something needed to be done. 2 failed ablations (balloon wasn't big enough) and a crap ton of birth control pills later, my doc said, "It's coming out". When I went back for my 8-week post-op, she described my uterus as "the huge hornet's nest I took off my house 2 years ago" and "I could have played basketball with it, and it would have bounced". She sent it off to be analyzed, and not only was it pre-cancerous, but I'm lucky to have had one child, let alone 4 (I've had 2 miscarriages, as well). It was so enlarged that it was causing my constipation and my "10 gallon bladder". Now, the flood gates open freely (I know...tmi). I love making my sisters and friends jealous when they complain about their times of the month! One of the best decisions I have ever made!
If you were my mother's doctor, she would've had that hysterectomy that was performed by a doctor who was only in it for the money. My mom's hysterectomy was unnecessary. Doc instilled fear in her (all she had were fibroids that weren't problematic) telling her all sorts of nonsense so he can chop it off and make some real good money. she regretted it even after decades later. she advised me to not have a unnecessary hysterectomy and to hold on to my lady parts for as long as possible. so what this doc is saying is true. I'd rather have a doctor like him that gives me alternatives rather than a doc who is chop happy because of how much money they'll make.

I'm so sorry for your mother's pain and suffering, I myself been debating for 3 yrs about having a complete Hysterectomy due to non cancerous fibroids and at 59yrs of age my doctor advised me that 1 fibroid is the size of an orange and the other 2 are small and a possibility of shrinking however the orange sized one can only be removed through surgery, well I already suffer with chronic pain due to my Lupus and several other health issues but my doctor is telling me that my pain is due to my fibroids and not so much my Lupus so I will not get butchered for now bc I don't need all the side effects that this good doctor is talking about and yes I live in the US, Thanks again for sharing and I wish you and your mother good health 🌹🌹

My mom always tells me to hold on to my lady parts for as long as they're not cancerous. Doctors' loyalties are always in the best interests of the pharmaceutical companies and not the patients. I always keep in mind what my primary care physicians said to me: you have to be your own health advocate. Not everything that doctors say and do is 100% accurate. In my case, if my cyst and fibroid interfered with my daily life, I'd consider a hysterectomy; however, it's only painful during my menstruation a few days a month so a hysterectomy isn't warranted at this point. You do what's best for you.. Take good care.
I respectfully disagree on most of these side effects. I had a hysterectomy when I was 41. I have never had issues with Climaxing. Depression. My marriage is fine. I do have some incontinence but it was not from the Hysterectomy. I was past the point of having more children so that did not factor in my decision. My periods were horrible. So I do not miss those either.

Ladies, do not be afraid. If you and your doctor feel it's in your best interest, go for it. Recovery varies with each person, but it is manageable and you get to not have periods anymore.

There are several types of hysterectomy and more than one type of surgery. The uterus plays a role in sexual function but it is not required for orgasm. Also, things like constipation and urinary retention can happen during recovery but usually resolve. Pelvic floor prolapse is not automatic either. There are so many factors. The skill of your surgeon, how seriously you take recovery and your overall health have a huge impact on any complications you might have.

This gives me hope 🙏🏽 I am 40 and just had a full hysterectomy September 20th 2022. I've had some complications like I am still sore in my lower stomach area at times and plus I think I went back to work too early. I am a housekeeper at a hotel 🏨 and it's very physically demanding. I think that has a part of my healing process as well. So I guess I'll be looking for another profession because I can't do it anymore. I hope things get better but I am still kinda early in the process 😪
I agree because once I got my hysterectomy I started experiencing depression on a level that was unmanageable. I’m divorced and can’t seem to stay at a level state. It’s sad because if I would’ve known this I would’ve went another route. My whole life is different…I’m not the same person at all.

I had many pelvic repairs in 2020-2021.

He is correct about the side effects. I also turned to it as a last resort. At 42, I couldn't take the extremely heavy periods and clotting. The pain was immense, I was weak and was getting cysts that were gaining in size and erupting, which was beyond horrible. The doctors didn't want me to have it. They put me on pills and had me do a D&C. They ended up needing to use 2 machines on me and it still didn't scar everything up and made things worse. I was finally given the go for a hysterectomy. On the positive, I have never experienced it again. On the negative, everything dropped, just like he explained. I experienced menopause a year later and my body has gained a lot of weight. I am now 52 and realized that I was experiencing metabolic syndrome. If I would have eaten better and taken the right supplements, I could have controlled my hormones and it would have changed everything. I had no idea. Please check your hormone levels before you do something this drastic. I wish anyone going through this my best wishes for a positive outcome in whatever you do.

Thank you for this video, Hysterectomy is bad, my sister had for fibrouds condition, she is only 47 but she looks like 57, she looks older thank her twice senior sister. Her beauty is totally gone, she always feels like something is missing in her life, she lost self confidence, a lot of fine lines and wrinkles in her face, her stomach looks bigger than before, she has gained 30 pounds in just one year after the surgery. Her blood pressure has gone high, she is having issues to focus, she is experiencing vision issues, irregular heart beat. to cut it short all the aging issue. She has no more joy in life. She use to be a very pretty woman with a nice shape, all that is gone. Hysterectomy = to premature aging and premature death. I had a radical hysterectomy on 5-29-21 & have spent the past 9+ months experiencing bladder & bowel dysfunction. I've never been so physically miserable in my life & suggest avoiding any sort of hysterectomy if at all possible.

I had a hysterectomy 11-29-21 one week later I felt a pop went to the hospital and they said everything was fine one week later I was back at the hospital because I started to hemorrhage really bad with blood clot the size of my hand they packed me but couldn't get the bleeding to stop so I had a second surgery on 12-14-21 but I'm still in pain when I have a bowel movement where there's normal I have to try to get it out if I have watery diarrhea I have to strain to get it out and I have spasms in my bladder real bad pain and if I don't go to the bathroom when I feel those that pain I pee on myself when I am in the bathroom on the toilet pan urine goes everywhere like I'm a toddler who's just not learning to pee standing up at night I have to wear a diaper just in case I get into a coughing fit and I don't pee and mess up my bed I truly regret getting the surgery because my doctors they drop the ball on my surgery and I've had so many problems having so many problems after my surgery I truly truly regretted and they know it

I strongly recommend going to a major city with world class doctors & hospitals for any & all procedures. Don't risk your health just because you happen to live in a backwater location. It's N-O-T worth it.

I had a complete hysterectomy when I was 40. I had so much pain in my anb and legs during my awful periods!! I felt so sick that I couldn't work or function. I don't regret it!!!
I’m afraid I totally disagree with your fifth point; e.g., no orgasm after hysterectomy. I had a radical hysterectomy 34 years ago, at age 40, because of widespread endometriosis. Although I was given the choice of trying a medication that would put me in chemical menopause, I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it when I found out that some of the masculinizing side effects were permanent. I had two children & had no desire to preserve my fertility & opted for the surgery. My children were quite young & needed me to be healthy, not in debilitating pain, & the pathologist told me it was a good thing I insisted on getting the surgery scheduled ASAP. He told me that had I waited six months to get it done, I would have been faced with radiation & chemo because I would have had full blown cancer. There’s a family history for uterine & endometrial cancer & I didn’t want surgery delayed. While I’ve experienced urinary incontinence & problems with constipation, the surgery did not affect my sex drive or my ability to have orgasms, & they’ve gotten stronger as I’ve gotten older. While a radical hysterectomy removes the uterus, Fallopian tubes, ovaries & cervix, it does not remove the clitoris. If the clitoris is stimulated, orgasms can be obtained, & I’m living proof of that. An OB/GYN told me years ago that the biggest sex organ we have is our brain, & I believe him. I have to say that without worrying any longer about getting pregnant, sex was much more relaxed & still is to this day. While I don’t know where this doctor got his information, he’s dead wrong about not being able to have orgasms after hysterectomy. Other friends of mine who have had the same surgery have orgasms.
Having the right partner helps
I had odd experience lately - having bladder issues in my mid forties. Dr meets w me for five minutes, claims my uterus is the problem and it's " flopping" around and needs to come out. Left. Went for 2nd opinion at unallfiliated hospital. All I needed was a pessary and estrogen. Be LEARY of Dr who wants to just take your uterus out! Young surgeon need practice .....you don't want an unnecessary surgery just to be a notch in a young surgeons belt.
My doc says this is blatantly wrong. The bladder has its OWN ligament structures
Best gift I ever gave myself. No cervical cancer risk, ovaries worked for another 25 years, appendix taken out as well and no more hemorrhaging and bleeding out all my clothes.
I had 33 fibroid tumors. The bleeding and pain was like having a baby every month.

I had a partial hysterectomy due to excessive bleeding after C-section. I have never felt any sagging of the organs. I did stop having periods and went into menopause. I didn’t have urinary and bowel issues. Nor orgasm issues. No chronic depression.
I had a partial hysterectomy 16 years ago (still have my ovaries) and I haven't experienced any of the side effects you mentioned. The only things that have changed is that I am no longer anemic and no longer in unbearable pain, I had awful periods. I don't regret my hysterectomy, but I did already have 3 children before it.
Keeping your ovaries is a big help. My were ruined from infection.

I do have to say that for me my hysterectomy was easier than all 3 of my childbirths, and faster to recover from. Just make sure you get the rest you need to recover afterwards. Did you have your kids naturally or by c-section? This is my dilemma - a hysterectomy would be 100% desired (huge fibroids-crazy bleeding and pain), but scar tissue from my previous surgeries can cause complications.

9 out of 10 women & people with uteruses have a brand new life created for them from a hysterectomy when we’ve been suffering from endometriosis for so long.
I agree with you@@DerFlanagan but only if another option for retaining the uterus does not exist. Sadly, that's not the case many know about. I've worked towards giving ladies this option and have many women control their hormones/symptoms with an intact uterus. Thank you for balancing out the video with the tough decisions women have to make. Get a life withOUT a uterus, or have a hell of a life with one.

It wasn't for me, so after 20 years of trying everything under the sun (that my insurance would at least help in coverin...which is a massive issue in itself) & nothing else working for me, choosing full removal was really the only choice I had left. I had infertility anyway, so in receiving that news when I was much younger I sort of had a lot of time to make peace with never having my own children. Howevever; post hysto has been incredibly hard on my mental health in many aspects, but one of them being the absolute permanence of being sterile. Still recovering from my surgery a year later, but it's all just mental gymnastics now. My hormone levels were NEVER normal, so I'm going through a lot of trying to figure out what I can actually endure. Estrogen suuuuucks
My partial hysterectomy ( removed uterus and cervix) was needed due to painful endometriosis. The negative part is the bladder leaks and constipation due to things not in proper place. Sometimes bowel movements are very painful and bloating but I’m still better off than before my surgery.

Same for me but 30 years ago after 4 babies. I had constipation but Cocoa daily ( recipe on Hershey Cocoa powder canister) better than laxatives.
I had a partial hysterectomy and I’m so glad I did. I had the bulging pressure and the incontinence before the surgery cause I had grade 2 pelvic prolapse. I already had two kids and I was ready to close that chapter. They surgeon put in a sling for my urethra to help with the incontinence and I had sacroplexy where my cervix was attached to the sacral area of my back. Plus I had my vaginal canal reconstructed. No more in incontinence. No more rectocel or cystocel. (Intestines and bladder bulging into my vaginal canal and trying to leave my body). My organs are safe and supported and sex has been better than ever. Grateful that I had my partial hysterectomy when I did.

We are not denying that there are certain specific scenarios that will require a Hysterectomy, but many times it is not required. Either they are lazy or they lack the expertise to conduct actual treatment for your. It is so easy for them to just remove the entire organ than conduct a technical surgery.

Sorry doc, I agree with others here. My periods were getting nasty as it turned out, I had several large tumors on my uterus, and because of this they had to remove my uterus surgically! Once I healed, I did a happy dance everytime I walked past that isle in the grocery store! Best thing I ever did!

I had a total hysterectomy 2 weeks ago, 3 of my stitches bust on the vaginal cuff in surgery which the surgeon kept open, i went on to lose half my blood volume with internal bleeding needing transfusion, i contracted a bad case of sepsis which nearly killed me, i have had a pelvic active bleeding aneurysm which i have had to get surgery on due to the surgery, all this from a popular surgery, if i would of know this i would never of got it done, it’s traumatised me.I originally had the surgery due to adenomyosis.
Reading this really scared me. I am suppose to have one for the same reason. I watch lots of videos and they make it seem like everything great afterward.

I am horrified that you are going through this. I had a total hysterectomy but the ovaries remained intact because I was literally bleeding 3 weeks out of the month and it was getting to the point where I was losing so much blood I was in danger of dying. After removal of the uterus it turned out to be adneomyosis also. Since then life has been so much better. I have no regrets other than I wish a doctor would have listened to me sooner. I have urinary incontinence but that was due to a previous emergency c section. I hope that you are able to get to a doctor that can help you with all that you're currently going through. Stay safe and feel better.
This can be life saving surgery but it can also be relief if longe term pain and suffering which is greater than these complications that you’re describing. Assigning it to only life threatening situations isn’t ethical. You need to weigh the current suffering with these risks and figure out which offers a greater quality of life. This approach requires you to validate and listen to your female patient about the experience and interpretation of their own pain.
Yes we agree 100%, it really depends on what the patient is experiencing as it is very subjective, we can only offer our advice.
With respect to both sides, it was clearly and repeatedly stated to also apply to malignant cases, not just life-threatening.
At least now I don't have to deal with Painful PMS!

I has a Hysterctomy 27 years ago without incident. I had no side effects except the anticipated infertility. I took no other hormones as they are the culprits to breast cancer. I'm a Registered Nurse

Too many women have hysterectomy for pre-menopausal hormonal fluctuations, which cause excessive bleeding TEMPORARILY, while the woman advances to menopause. Once you reach menopause, there is no more bleeding, so no more uterine problems. Hysterectomy, like suicide, is a permanent solution to a temporary problem (unless there's a malignancy, of course.)
I had my hysterectomy when I was 40. They found over 30 percent of my uterus was cancerous. They gave me the option of only removing the cancerous area. I did not believe this was the best solution. Cancer runs on my mother's side of the family. I got a second opinion and he agreed with me and recommended a complete hysterectom. After the surgery, they found that it had spread. I had made the right decision. This surgery is difficult to recover from, however, I have never regretted it. That was 35 years ago!

I was diagnosed with uterine cancer at 68. Had a total hysterectomy, no problems after, that was almost 7 years ago. I believe women should be informed before surgery of any type. Good video. I want to add I told my Doctor to remove my ovaries because my Mother had breast cancer twice. Same genes as ovarian cancer. She lived to be 97 years old.

Don't worry Mdm, there are still option for management of the side-effects that you can look into, there are quite effective and definitely worth looking into.

Doctor is speaking off of maybe his cultural setting ,the scientific information and reports from the experiences of patients ,so let's give him that .Now as for me ,I have experienced early menopause, constipation, and slight urination challenges but with having to in a hurry if I don't get there I am in trouble 😁🤫.I celebrate with my other lady friend who have not have any such complications. You are 100% correct and I say this as someone with 100% regret of my radical hysterectomy. For a surgeon to have already removed a small stage 1 cervical cancer with a cone biopsy to afterwards tell me I only had two choices after that of radiation or radical hysterectomy is gross negligence on the part of whatever medical organization that thinks up those asinine rules. #1 The surgeon's cancer center had a sentinel lymph biopsy procedure available that she never told me about and she removed 14 precious lymph nodes from me which were all cancer-free. #2 I asked the surgeon not to remove my ovaries and she did anyway. Ovaries, Uterus and all tissues she removed in the radical hysterectomy turned out to be 100% cancer-free. My life SUCKS now on so many levels. I hope this video, my comment and comments from others can help even just 1 woman out there make the right decision to do everything to protect her vital female organs from greedy surgeons' hands!

So what would you recommend for the uterine fibroids that causing irregular and prolong bleeding? I removed them already n they grew back.
Did they grow back at the previous removal location and was it within 2 years? If that's the case, then the removal was not done thoroughly enough, and factoring your possible hormonal imbalance that was not dealt with. If the management was not effective, it can most definitely trigger a recurrence of the fibroid.

Yes, I'm pretty sure mine grew back in the 8 years since having a myomectomy. I have the horrible pain and heavy bleeding like before. My abdomen is very extended again to where I look pregnant. I'm also severely anemic and my sister who is a nurse read my hemoglobin numbers and stated that people with higher numbers than mine often get a blood transfusion. My Nurse Practitioner recommended iron infusions. I get very weak and the anemia leaves me very out of breath and has can affect my heart. On top of that is the dizziness, nauseousness and light headed feeling along with brain fog during my menstruation. I'm also practically quarantined to my house the first two days because ofbthe excessive bleeding. This has led me to leave jobs because I cant time off every time it's that time of the month. I'd love to get rid of these issues.
I had mine at 36 with a size of a grapefruit uterine fibroids. After exhausting every option before my final decision to have a hysterectomy. I’m 53 and doing well. No issues and live life as normal as well as healthy sex life.

Please say no to hysterectomy. I've been through it and it results in all the problems highlighted by this good doctor in the long run.
Go get an MRI pelvis with and without contrast so you can see the size of your fibroids & the location. Let me know what their sizes are, and I will comment further.

I had a hysterectomy about 50 years ago. Never had eny problems. Just thanked God. No more flooding blood every were. No more pain so bad like a red hot iron on my lower tummy. Could not work 3-4 days a month..saved money on big heavy pads. I would do it again today if I was having the same PAIN!!

I had a total hysterectomy when 27 due to cancer. I thought endometriosis but turned out to be cancer. Several tumors. I had lost weight and painful periods. So I went to the doctor. Biospy was done and 12 hours later I was in surgery.. They took out all the female parts (uterus, ovaries, cervix, fallopian tubes). I am in my late 70's now. Since I have taken hormones since then. I have also never had menopause. My life has been great without the plumbing. But I still have to do Kegel exercises to keep pelvic floor and vagina strong. But that is okay. They do tighten.
Why on earth would it only be recommended in those situations?
If this is the profession you wish to have, you must understand how incredibly painful the menstrual cycle can be. And how much your uterus can ruin your life.
Quality of life is just as important as life threatening.
Mdm if your menses pains are excruciating, that is not normal, there is very likely an underlying organic disease that is causing that, which requires proper diagnosis and treatment. I suspect adenomyosis or endometriosis, it can also several other causes that can be treated.
You do not need hysterectomy to treat these conditions.

It's never that cut and dry. When a "underlying cause" for the bleeding and pain can't be found you shouldn't keep torturing your patient. Frequently testing and changing treatments to something else that doesn't work is torture that your patient doesn't deserve to go through.
That patient deserves relief and sometimes that means removing the uterus. Especially when the person is almost 40 and has had their tubes tied for 13 years.
I am 66 years old and I am still bleeding 🩸 I have fibroids which have not shrunk!! I take provera to stop the bleeding, and the male Dr said to me he wanted to take me off the meds 😳 I said only if you give me a hysterectomy!! He said no we will do another hysterscope to see if my cells have turned too cancer! ( they stick a metal prob in your womb & it bites out a chunk of your womb) I have had it done 9 times it is SOOO painful NO PAIN RELIEF I am having nightmares 😖 just give me a DAM hysterectomy! There’s a lot of reasons to get a hysterectomy. Every body is different and every persons needs are different. These are not 100% garunteed and how you’re body is, your surgeons skill, etc all make a difference.

I wish someone could’ve told me all this information before my hysterectomy. After two years of my surgery, I’m suffering of terrible damaged nerves in my pelvic , a really bad incontinence that usually I don’t make it to the toilet, the constipation causes me severe pain. There’s a horrible pain when walking, seating, getting up and I hardly move around. I don’t have any improvement yet though I’m having physiotherapy. The uterus really holds the body in its proper position, the lack of it causes a terrible prolapse of the organs that surround it. My life now is nothing compared to what it was before. At my 55, I was still having heavy and painful bleeding for weeks, I got some cysts that worsened the pain, but that was nothing compared to what I’m going through now. I really regret to have agreed to the surgery.

I had hestorectomy at age 49. I had a huge fibroid tumor. It was on the outside of my uterus. I have depression and sleep issues. Will this get better at some point? I'm now 65, and still have issues.
