When you get to season 2, you’ll understand exactly why he’s not some regular MP. He actually is/was a special investigator.
Martial arts enthusiast here: head butts are a super legit technique. Forehead against nose: forehead wins
I was on a demo team and regularly broke 5 1" pine boards with a head butt. If you do it right, you're not getting "stunned".
The novel has a detailed explanation about why he opens with a headbutt. Other than what you said, he also does it because no one expects it. They focus on the hands and feet, not the head.
@@Destiny87imagine if it became so common that people started yelling “Head! Head! Put your forehead on the ground! Head on the ground now!”
Yep hardest part of your head to their weakest part
You just taught me something useful, thanks man!
"Keep my wifes name out your mouth!"
Aged like fine wine
You guys completely misunderstood that first episode, he didn’t get sent to jail, he was asked to go to protect the other guy.
Yep he wanted to be there...
Hes CID..not a "regular" mp. And a "special investigations unit" of CID. I believe he also was regular infantry at some point.
Also, he's smart because his character is a super smart character lol. Not because he's House or Sherlock lol.
Also also, lol, when u watch more episodes youll find out why he was sent to and attacked in jail.
No he’s not. Army CID is a federal organisation outside of the Army. Just like NCIS isn’t actually part of the Navy.
@@fionagallagher984 check out season 2 to understand what I'm talking about. He was part of a fictitious special unit put together by the DOD...he was not "just" an mp. Not even close.
House and sherlock arnt smart unlike this guy?
@@fionagallagher984false. CID has both a civilian and military component. You can join the army and become a CID Special Agent with both military and civilian arrest authority. In the real world it’s not a very cool job though. Much like ncis they mainly investigate petty crimes. Ncis is structured differently, and from my understanding a fully civilian organization. CID is a totally different military job from an MP.

"2 kinds of people wear sunglasses inside. Blind people...and douchebags." -Dean Winchester
He was an MP. Was moved to CID and was commissioned with a new undercover unit called Special Investigators.
These guys aren't being given all the information to conclude what the books/show are actually about.
The Reacher character was once an MP, but he was promoted to SIU of CID, before discharge.
The way the 'law works' and how the law works in a small town in the South is something different.
Up North today some DAs let murder suspects out without bail, in the South they still use chain gangs and jail is sometimes used as a punitive punishment simply because you looked at the Sheriff wrong.
#Facts I did two weeks in jail for DWB
I was going to say the same thing. Tell me you've never been in jail in a rural southern town without telling me. :D
The books “Reacher” by Lee Child are very good, and I enjoy the series as well. He was CID in the book in a special investigative unit btw. They go into it in the second season.
Season 2 was great for backstory but the actual season story sucked compared to a Season 1.
Think so? I thought it was the other way around!
Yea, idk. It seemed kinda lazy with the story but the action was AWESOME! Lee Childs has wrote so many of these some are hit and miss lol.
@@SemperFi_EDC_GuyYea I can see what you are saying. I enjoyed both seasons especially compared to a lot of the awful shit on TV now. It’s a matter of opinion I suppose and I respect yours.
@@HowieAnderson-jg5yb no no, lol. I definitely definitely enjoyed it! I love Reacher! Definitely not saying I hated it, just thought it was kinda lazy in certain ways compared to season 1. Especially having the final fight on the same set...I think. Don't wanna give spoilers but check out the "final fight scene" in season 1 and compare it to the one in season 2. Keyword...warehouse. lol
Anyways, good to meet a fellow Lee Childs Reacher fan! Have a great day!
I was an MP injured in the line of duty. I always looked out for fellow soldiers. If you were drunk, I took you home. Performed all the duties of a civilian officer. Ft. Hood, Ft. Belvoir were cities in themselves. Keep up the good work
Same here bub, I was 64th mp co at ft hood and I treated it the same when I did work the road. We didn't work the road as much as we prepared for deployment to iraq.
Sean I’ve worked in both state and federal prisons… A lot the stuff you are saying is completely wrong. Lol. Inmate’s absolutely have sunglasses along with a ton of other things that could be used as weapons, as far as starting a race war??? That would definitely depend on the politics of the particular state, and prison. For example the inmates are not segregated in NYS prison, and they don’t bang based on what race you are. They have almost 0 politics of a state like California. Many of the white inmates belong to the same gangs as every other race. I love beers and breakdowns and always appreciate the content, but some of what you are saying is incorrect.
Wow. Thanks for posting that, I would have never known. 👍 Hope Buck sees it. He has a tendency to think his experiences are universal. It's slightly annoying. LOL
Like everyone else said already, read the earlier books. Lee Child created a great backstory for Reacher that holds up well enough.
Bro gotta get more context for the show 😂
Seriously lol. Once he watches more he's gonna be walking back A LOT of his takes lol.
Why get context when you can just get on video and sound like a arrogant prick. lol
MP's DO DETECTIVE WORK. They are called MPI. Military Police Investigators, they work out of the Provost Marshal's office. MP's btw have a wartime mission that has NOTHING to do with law enforcement. Former 95B30V5. Military Police investigation NCOIC.
What's their primary mission?
@@BlyGuyInternal security. They conduct criminal, fraud, counterintelligence, cyber threat, internal security, and other special investigations
(The original post was heavily edited after I posted this comment) Any other obvious information you need to get out?? The only point they made about MP’s is that they aren’t not anywhere near real police, which is absolutely true. MP’s are like the kindergarten version of cops.
I was MPI. We did full scale investigations. We did UC work.
Yeah, they have no idea of what we do lol
The REacher actor played a linebacker character in Blue Mountain State so he is an experienced actor but he has gotten jacked up since then-in the Army the investigators are CID
"Hacksaw Ridge" The best war movies are based on real events. The first MOH recipient who was a conscientious objector.
The citation states he saved 75 soldiers through the night on enemy held ground by himself as a combat medic. Desmond Doss acually proved himself on Saipan, but in the interests of time it showed him starting out on Okinawa.
great movie
Small town PD in a town run by the wealthiest person in the county.
We've had real world examples of police departments doing not legal things.
From arresting people based on made up charges to people who found their family murdered, called the police, was arrested and convicted for murder only to be released years later and cleared of the charges.
so you would prefer no law enforcement at all?
No
he would prefer no corruption at all
@@J1200pp Bingo.

If I don't tolerate corruption in my politicians, why would I tolerate it in police officers?
I live in Los Angeles and have lived in other states in my 50+ years. I remember the sleeping woman who was shot multiple times by a cop because she was startled by the cop when banged on her car window with his metal flashlight.
I remember Kelly Thomas who was beaten by 6 "fine upstanding" officers who broke his face so badly that he choked on his own blood. Kelly Thomas died 6 days later.
That's just 2 examples from the top of my head. You have PD's using civil forfeiture funds to buy personal vehicles, big screen TV's.
Let's not get into the civil forfeiture itself, one of the most abused means to steal money from innocent people.
@@pogo1140they only show the worst side of cops but never the good ones is the problem. Stereotyping cops is no different than stereotyping people based on socioeconomic status, work, or race
On the aspect of him being zip tied, they claim that the extra large cuffs were kept at the station. Presumably not used because he was not being combative. As far as him being arrested and sent to jail, supposedly it's due to it being a small town and the chief wanting to clear him before he's released. Technically a violation of the law, doesnt mean it wont happen in a small town.
You find out later why that prison fight scene occurs and you find out why Reacher is skilled at fighting and why he lets people get hurt before helping them. To paraphrase from the book, "I don't give a shit about the little guy. I hate the big guys pushing them around."
lot of people are in prison when they shouldn't be there, the judicial system has never been fair
Yea you will have sunglasses in prison if you’re a shot caller.
Believe Reacher was CID
You guys blew it! Reacher is an ICON!
MORE TERMINAL LIST PLZ!
Can yall do more than 1 episode of Seal Team at once please? Maybe do 3 in one because theres soooo many.
I’d love to see more terminal list as well focusing on the tactics / weapon handling
"Battle of Long Tan" (about 6th Battalion of Royal Australian Regiment in Vietnam War) or "84C MoPic" (about LRRP by US Army unit in Vietnam War).
Ok, FIRST, I'm OLD, VN old. Second, my first MOS was MP, BUT, as an MP for FORCES COMMAND HQ, Fort Bragg. NC-specifically a former XVIII Abn, Spcl Serv/Wfare "SKYDRAGON" here. Just so you know, in those days, units within my jurisdiction were primarily- XVIII Abn, 101 Abn, 82nd Abn, 75th Rangers, SpclForces (these "Green Beenie" types), Marine Recon, the UDT peeps, and a few more official (and 'un official') 'snake-eater) type units. My personal function? Well, it wasn't writing traffic tickets...Primarily I guess you could say I was one of the guys that got sent out to 'secure' ' members of the various "elite" forces, both in and out country, who for one reason or another, went 'off the reservation' and engaged in 'unauthorized behavior' as we called it back then: This ranged all the way from bar fights, drug trafficking; National Security concerns, to just plain going bat shit crazy and engaging in unsanctioned homicides /mayhem etc; Now, remember this was wartime i.e. LOTS of people were out killing people. As a consequence, along the way, I "assisted" a number of other units (got 'farmed out' :) ranging from CID, MPI, State, the FBI (who almost got me killed) a host of other Alphabet type units as well as being sworn in as a US Marshal (I was one of the first "Air Marshals"" after the Patty Hearst(SP?) incident). For Treasury I would run Customs inspections for contraband on some of the 'skull f*cking' type ' forces returning to Bragg from overseas in un marked aircraft- most often at like 2-3 in the morning, I was also the initial cameraman for the team investigating the Golden Knights crash disaster(all died) back in like 72, or 73- (sorry for the vague dating as I've done my best (unsuccessfully) over the years to wipe those images of the crash site/debris field from my mind :(
I also had some success as a young Abn,/Naval Diving qualified LEO 'DC' ("Deep Cover") investigator: as a Ranger Trainee (homicide); as a Navy ship's Finance Officer(embezzlement); a Marine Private (homicide/fragging); and even as a principal 'song and dance'member of a noted USO show (drug trafficking .) There's a bit more, but my point is , though it might be different today, I would still caution against unilaterally dismissing the importance of MP's/SP's etc. - EVEN if only because they are armed at all times, and are Officially Sanctioned to dish out deadly force when circumstances permit which, at least in my time, happened quite a bit more often than you might suspect.
PS. one other thing, I've used zip ties in a pinch before...AND, haven't you ever seen anyone break a pair of standard police hand cuffs? Stings a bit...but NOT all that difficult.
Thank you for your service
Not sure if you ever checked out “Apocalypse Now”. It’s about a Green Beret Colonel in the Vietnam War, without giving the story away.
It's also basically plagerism, of "Dispatches" by Michael Herr. which is kinda hilarious in that some of the crazier shit (like the the infamous m79 shot at a screaming NV shoulder in the middle of the night scene) was ripped from actual first hand reported events in Vietnam. Whoever did Apocolypse script stole about 5-6 scenes of actual events in Dispatches and plugged them in movie based on JC's HEart of Darkness. If you're a fan of the movie read "Dispatches", it's full of little stories of "no way that could happen" but it did. Think Fear And Loathing meets up with a war book.
Bro as a vet myself....masters of air....episode 3 holy fuck
Babyface…
"Hes just a suspect"... oh thats right corrupt people dont do things that are CORRUPT!
Dude little wears a CID patch on his uniform in flashbacks during Season 2. So he's clearly Special Investigator MP Major Jack Reacher. 😆
They watching first episode season 1 not season 2 hahah
You're the first I've seen make the connection of that line. You're awesome!
I believe they were designated as an internal version of Army CID.
You guys need to watch Blue Mountain State. It'll be so much better for you experiencing Alan Ritchson in that order than how many of us know him from BMS and then seeing him as Reacher. You'll love it.
will do
@@FNGACADEMY React "Elite Squad 2"
That line “keep my wife’s name…” is actually quite popular in several shows.
Man, I love how many assumptions yall make instead of sticking to what you know.
Um...that would be a major problem for them. Because they don't know much to begin with 😂
"Good line to draw" it's exactly where last line of defence lays :)
STARSHIP TROOPERS. Verhoven’s classic.
Why do you keep suggesting this stupid ass movie? LOL There are no military activities or tactics worth examining.
Hells yeah
His abomination more like.
I would love for you guys to do seal team more frequently or check out Edge of Tomorrow. It’s a Tom Cruise movie.
Edge of Tomorrow is TOTALLY underrated. It does have enough military training and tactics to make it really interesting for FNG Academy. Good call.
@@jakester455i’d love to see them react to the robot knife fighting training droids
At least you started with the first season. The second season blatanly comes off as it's written by somebody who has no idea how military structure works.
In the books they talk about how MP's aren't liked and how when he was still in the army, it was hard to get information from other soldiers. So far, all the movies/series made are when Reacher left the Army, but there are some when he was still in the Army and they deal with this.
Need to remember, this is some small rural town in GA, probably small budget, would a police station like that have XL cuffs or those zip ties?
he's not under arrest when he goes to jail with the guy with glasses. he volunteered to go to investigate.
Seeing him as anything other than Thad castle is always going to be a challenge for me😊
I love y'alls contents!! My wife is the one who got me into reacher. It's a good popcorn action show, and that's what i took it as. I think you guys should do a video on Sniper Ghost Shooter. I had the pleasure of watching all these Sniper movies while on a netfix binge when I got out of the military and they are all "masterpieces". If you Couldnt tell that was sarcasm, but i think it would make for a hilarious video. Thank you for all you guys do for the the community!
I know you like to keep these episodes short, but long episodes are appreciated too. I think I've watch all your 40 min + ones.
I’m not sure if they have Pateron but if they do they probably have full reactions
Also, when the first book came out, there was no social media.
Honestly I'd love y'all to finish watching Reacher. I never read the books and only watched the movies, but I've really enjoyed the show and can't wait for season 3. A lot of people are pointing out he was not just a regular MP but there's some nuance to the show.
Finish Terminal List, all of your Terminal List episodes are hilarious lol
Great series for entertainment value. Season 2 just wrapped up.
I yelled at the Will Smith part 😂
This show came out BEFORE Will Smith did that, Will copied Reacher! Also later in season Reacher slaps a guy, and Will copied that exact slap too!
I love this show! Yes, a few things seem unlikely to happen in real life, but, it is just entertainment, it's not a documentary
He headbutted a punch in fight against one of the 4 guys of whom he sent 3 to hospital for broken hand
My guys, I just finished bing watching Seal Team after your review. That was some good shit. Thanks
Don’t know if you’ve seen it yet but “Danger Close” battle of long tan starring Travis fimmel from Vikings. Close to my heart this one - I have fought in that environment too.
Soldier (1998) was the reason I joined the military.
Really? Joined in 1989, Between G.I. Joe, First Blood, and all the other post Vietnam War movies off I joined.
This is the fastest I believe I've ever clicked on a UA-cam notification
the thing with prison, is you can basically get anything you want. you want a giant birthday cake, you grease the right palms. you getting that cake, there's always someone corrupt or paid off to look the other way. so something simple as sun glasses is believable
"Training Day" Do your cop thing, Buck.
Yes please finish terminal list 😂. Keep up the good content as always!
Reacher and his team were not just MPs. They were special investigators. Handpicked by reacher so they’re not gonna be the goofballs that you had interactions with.
Like i have to tell my mom sometimes while watching these kinds of things, suspended disbelief is a wonderful thing in this situation
So, one thing about Reacher knowing how to fight. It's not because he was an MP. It's because he got into a dozen fights a day as a kid. And in season 2 we see that he's not a regular MP anyway. He's got a CID badge on his BDUs, and was a Special Investigator, so it's not a stretch that he was investigating murders
Unlawfully arrested? 🤣
It’s a small rural town that DGAF. Go watch some channels about interactions between police and citizens. Rights get violated all the time.
And on the same note, plenty of contraband makes it into jails/prisons. In this case the “rich family” runs the town and LEO just do their bidding .
The TV show is loosely based off of the books written by British author Jim Grant under the pen name Lee Child. If you read any of the first few, it will give you the character Jack Reacher's military background. As ex-USAF military working dog handler (76-86), I worked with Army MP's as well as Army CID and Army Provost marshals while stationed in Europe. I can say I never came across a character quite like Jack Reacher. I did work with many troops that if you combined their traits, you could come up with someone like him. So being its hollywood and they really stretch realities for entertainment, I can understand how the character was invented. Compared to most of the crap that comes out of hollywood and how they portray our military, this show is better in the sense that it is entertaining and most of the cast are pretty good actors and actresses in the show. I joined the military because I was too young to be a civilian police officer and thought it would be a good way to serve my country at 17 year old and bide my time until I was old enough to pursue a career in the real world. After 30 years as a civilian cop in a large city and a small rural towns. I retired from LE, knowing I fulfilled my dreams working my way through the ranks. I do agree with you, that the movies with tom cruise were terrible and at least the this new TV show follows the books a bit more. Thank you both for your service in a very tough MOS to get into...but K-9 leads the way!!! lol
Are you guys still doing Beers and Breakdown on Band of Brothers and The Pacific? Just curious is all.
This Reacher is closer to the books.
I watched season 1 before “The Slap” and recently rewatched the season and when that line landed…I spit my drink out.
You guys should react to 1 of those old school TV shows like "Combat Missions" (2002), "Special Ops Missions" (2009), "One Man Army" (2011)
Hey Buck, since you were a cop I think a movie that is a must is Robocop, and absolute classic.
love that movie
Totally unenjoyable review.... guy on the right put down almost everything about the episode. Some of his comments indicate that he did not comprehend the full flow of the plot.
Bro he was sent to jail purposely , he has a job to do
I don't do any social media, because I too, want people to think I'm special too!
in season 2 they explain his past as investigator in special unit. Not regular MP
Would love to see a reaction from a season 2 episode
@FNG, Sean, if one doesn't want too much in the way of online profiles and you don't want none at all. What is the Goldie Locks zone for an online presence? For example, just a LinkedIn professional profile?
Thanks
The idea is he's extremely observant, but they did flip the script in some scenes but all in all it's just fun to watch.
The same can be said for UA-cam channels scratching it out for content. It’s a TV show guys. Every person clicked on this video knew that and was shouting that at you.😂
Thanks
Definitely want you to get to ep 5 of Terminal List
A good show
Please understand that this is based off the book, which is why some things happen the way they do.
Imagine not having watched Blue Mountain State before this and think Alan can't act.
It's not very often you see a character who describes how and why they are about to kick your butt right before they do.
Reacher has photographic memory in the books, which helps him seem "House"-ish. Also, all the "that's not how the law works" doesn't apply in a town run by corruption.
100% accurate, we did not hold the SP's in high regard my entire time in the Air Force. Rudy, AMMO 1981-2007
Reading the books gives so much context than the movies or TV shows..
I spent a year as an MP at Ft Campbell while the division was deployed. The only Soldiers on post were broken, or 18s from 5th group. Every traffic stop I made, mainly for speading seemed to be these 5G 18s. They almost always replied to my request for ID and driver license with "Hey Sarge we're with 5th Group". Being half civilian on my mother's side I generally let em go if they agreed to do better, but they had a severe entitlement attitude. Gotta love what they do though
You're half-civilian? Did other military guys make fun of you for being a half-breed?
What year? Either a big coincidence or some things never change.
Shout out to K-16! Was stationed at Youngsan went there a few times. I miss the Yaki Mandu & Katusa Snack Bars man. Another great reaction gents! Take care and stay safe.
Do more of the SEAL TEAM show!! Also yes finish the terminal list lol
Have u guys ever heard MPI? Military police "investigations". Lol
He was in custody vs detention. Also they’d probably stay in the station jail until arraignment which is supposed to happen within 48 hrs. I love it but there’s some goofy stuff too.
It may be far from reality but it looks like a badass show from the clips I seen
You guys just look like fun dudes to hang with...
Well - he didn't go to jail anlawfully - I think in the scene before he agreed to pose as a convict to get help the accountant admit truth about the people he worked for.
different rules in different states, you sneeze to close to a crime scene in a 3 block area, they'll arrest you. why because they can
In the book, he went to jail after the police chief identified him as leaving the scene
I thought this show was great. I think you two are great. I'm so happy to see you two react to it. The show started slow but it got me hooked before the end of the first episode IIRC.
The thing is about his arrest he willingly went.
Definitely gotta finish the pacific and band of brothers. Wouldn't mind seeing you do the original and reboot of Robocop.
Reacher is going to Jail to find out what happened... not because he's guilty of anything.
