At about 3:18 when the installer is connecting the cable his hands cover up the process. The printing on the cable should be facing you, and you need to push the connector in straight, flat, and all the way in before closing the lock. I didn't get mine all the way in and had to redo the process to get the drive to work. A powerful magnifying glass helped.
so nice to have a tech video like this, i have a very very old aspire 5741 series with win7, this gives me much confidence to get another latest model from acer, since i am more used to DIY when it comes to upgrade.

Be cautious with the black and white wires going to the WLAN card. The black wire closest to the screw holding it down was soldered poorly on mine and had to be re-soldered as it had a poor bond. You can get a slightly thicker drive to fit if you remove the foam padding on the bottom plastic panel but it is a very cozy arrangement so verify thickness before you order. Save for the loose wire, the install went well with just a plastic pry tool, screwdriver set, and the hard drive kit.

My ribbon cable is too small. It was stuck under the plastic. I'd have to move the module to get it close enough to clip into the MB slot. Did they include the wrong cable?

There is always stuck screw while opening this laptop. Bought 2 set of screwdrivers just to open back cover due to 1 stuck screw. Now, the wireless card screw is completely stuck, with erased head which can't be unscrewed

After installing the new drive, it is the 0 drive and the OS drive is 1, the BIOS keeps trying to boot into the empty drive. I change the boot order and it boots up but it keeps reverting. How to fix this?

Yes, you can install SSDs or mechanical hard drives, as long as it's maximum 7mm tall (there are some that are 9mm tall or even taller, those won't do, there's not enough room inside for them)

2.5 inch SSD's come in a 7mm or a 9.5mm height=thickness To be on the safe side, always go for the 7mm version as that's what I did with my 3.84GB SSD early this yr for one of the 2 ACER laptops that I purchased for myself.
4gb RAM is soldered onto motherboard and another 4gb RAM is given in the slot(for general configuration). To add additional RAM you need to remove this 4gb and replace it with another(Max upto 16gb)
Actually my guts are different then the one on screen. I would check with the manual and see. I got mine on prime day.. From Amazon if that's the one you have your good
because the SATA connection isnt standard so it cant be used to boot while the nvme m.2 slot is completely standard allowing you to boot. preferably you will want to boot from the nvme ssd anyway since its faster and (usually) more reliable
Because you didn't install windows or other operating system on it DUH or you didn't configure your BIOS right. However you should always boot from the NVMe M.2 ssd that came with your laptop because it is A LOT FASTER. Mine boots all the way to the desktop in only 5 seconds when pressing the power button from a complete shutdown. It sorta makes sleep or closing the lid useless 😂 Back to the topic, you can use your other drive and install all programs on it so I don't see why you want to ruin your laptop original configuration when clearly you don't have enough knowledge on this specific subject (That's why you asked in the first place). You'll only make more problems than solutions.
Late AF, but nothing serious happens, those are the WiFi antennae cables and yes, you can plug them in again. Those connectors are not designed to withstand many connections and disconnections like the USB ones for example, but you needn't worry.

Have you check the INTERNAL area of the laptop? In some models the bracket is just inside the laptop case.

you can check by opening task manager, going into performance, and looking at the RAM section, you'll probably be at 2400

@@cterry511 Maybe you have the model with the NVIDIA GPU which is a huge difference (You should see more parts and more cooling for the GPU)
