Absolutely precious ! Thanks so much for sharing your family patterns. They are all so beautiful. And what a lovely tangible piece of your Grandmother to have. I bet wrapping them around you is almost like getting a hug from her. I have great memories of sitting with my Grandmother and her mother(my Great Grandmother) teaching me how to both knit and crochet. These are the things in life you can't put a monetary value to as they are priceless. I loved the video you made of going to your Mom's to visit and she had all your Grandmother's blankets and shawls all laid out and hung to see. They were all so pretty! What a treat that was to see them all! It makes your tutorials even more meaningful when I saw them and could say, I have watched the tutorial for this one, and that one! And the story of how she had a friend that would come and sit and make them together. That was so sweet. I would love to see of maybe on of our churches or community centers has a knitting and crocheting group. It would be so awesome for these things to be passed on to future generations. I would hate to see these things be lost. I am finishing a throw for a dear family friend and when I am done, I am going to try the one you make with the little multi-colored starbursts(?)on them. I also LOVE your eye for color! And I also love the scrap blanket. I would love to find a pattern where I could accumulate squares of all my left overs and then when I have enough of them, out them together. I am 52 and am just getting back into knitting and crocheting again. The last thing I had made was a baby blanket for my middle daughter(my 1st born was 8 at the time and I would knit and crochet to try to help get my mind off of how sick I was the entire 9 months) After I had her, I was pretty much pregnant right away again, but too busy chasing the then 2 yr old to be able to do anything and all my things had to all be put away :(- I am a multi-media, self taught artist. My Mom said I have been drawing since I could hold a crayon, so it's a huge part of me. AMD to have to put my things away so the little ones wouldn't destroy everything was really hard for me. Well, they are all young adults now, and I am finally able to work and play again without worrying about what will happen to my things and my projects, and part of them was knitting and crocheting. So finding your channel has been a major ploy for me. So thank you for doing these video tutorials. I know I thank you in the comments for every video of yours I watch, but this all is why. I truly appreciate you doing this from a super special place in my heart. Your videos mean more to me than I could ever convey in words. So please consider each thank you, a big hug from me :) May God bless and watch over you and your loved ones always. You are a truly special person. It cant be easy to do this, all the work editing and downloading(?)`and time, and confidence. It is a LOT. Especiallly having to deal with a percentage of people that were never taught-if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing- and can say very mean and hurtful things
You're welcome Jo, being so close was very special to me. Yes the channel is hard work, but I love it, so worth doing it all, to interact with so many people all over the world. Happy new year Anja x
Hi Anja, I was so excited to see this video. I was like a child who couldn't wait for the video to come. I love the kiss stitch ,that was a new one for me so I hope there are more kisses in the blanket. I decided to make this for my husband. The color I chose was burgundy and I did get the same type of yarn that you have. This is very relaxing and I'm loving it.
The thing I'm loving about this blanket is exactly what you said... I'm enjoying the crocheting! With so many projects the stitches are so time-consuming to master and go wrong so easily that if I'm not concentrating really hard it becomes a chore rather than a pleasure. You've created a pattern that is both really pretty and easy to do, and I'm really enjoying it. Thank you!
Hi Anja. Am so loving this Cal!! Especially during this difficult lockdown period in South Africa where we are not even allowed outside to walk our dog! This project has truly helped lift my spirit! Also being a Granny myself I love the respect and honor this Cal gives to your Grandma... well done Anja. ❤️
This CAL is so perfect for me. It’s my first, and I didn’t want to be scared to try it. At the same time, I’m learning such a lot, for instance, this will be my first attempt at the kisses stitch. Your work is so beautifully neat and I’m excited to do my work for the 2nd week.
I think your CAL is “simply” beautiful. Sometimes it’s nice to just enjoy the process of crocheting without having to think too much especially during times of uncertainty, like now. It’s precious how you are honoring your grandmother’s memory and her love for crochet. ❤️
I don't usually crochet , but this pattern and instructions are very clear and easy to follow what you are doing. I want to try this out. Thank you for the clear and specific instructions.
im loving it so much really needed this today. My son passed away 11 years ago today so it will keep me ocupied thank you so much cant wait to see the end result
Hi Anja, This is my first CAL and I’m loving it❣️ Can’t wait to get started on this section of this very beautiful blanket. Thank you for sharing! 🙂🇺🇸🌴

I’ve never wrote a post before but really felt compelled to comment on your so that you know how much your tutorial has helped me and has keeper my mind busy during this pandemic! I’m excited to put on the stars and learn how to do the tags! It will mark this time during the pandemic with the coronavirus for my kids later in time! I just really wanted to thank you so much ! Anya This is a wonderful project for a CAL. You do not have to have something difficult. If so it would not be relaxing and like you said we can enjoy our crochet. The pattern is beautiful. Thank you. Barbara
The moment your first video went out about this, I ordered the yarn! I don't have it yet, but as SOON as it comes in, I'll be trying to catch up LOL :) Thank you so much. It's a lovely pattern and exactly the type of weight and simple, yet beautiful, pattern I need to fill time while also making something we'll have for many years :)
I'm only starting this section now! I watched the video first and took notes. I wish I had stayed on track, but I'm still enjoying it. I was very excited to see Week 2. Next CAL, I will keep up!!
I'm really enjoying crocheting this blanket with you. As I'm a hairdresser I'm unable to work due to lockdown so this is keeping my hands busy! I'm using wool I've had for a while given to me. It's in a soft lilac shade but I think it's an arran weight. I'm still using the number 3.5 hook though and it's working up beautifully!. I'll be continuing with this next faze on the blanket tomorrow. Thank you! 🧶🧶🧶🙋♀️

Hi Anja! So excited for week two, although I'm still working on week one (Row 23 right now), because my friend and I are doing it together and just got our yarn this week :) she's a beginner and enjoys it very much as well, and we both find it super relaxing :)

Anja, on row 30, I kept coming up with 194, but then realized that you were putting a dc around the turning chain space and then putting the last stitch in the chain 2 of the turning chain. I was able to see that at 3:07, but it is easy to miss that.
Hi Anja. Thankyou for this CAL, I am enjoying it very much. I am thinking of doing a contrast colour between the different sections and I am trying to stay within a certain range of colours that I feel represent our outback, with burnt orange, ochre, deep purple.... I am trying to plan my colourway and was wondering if I could ask how many sections and dividing sections there will be altogether?

I'm liking this but somehow mines turned out different n I've undone to before kisses round. I've 195 stitches, done 3boxes n 7double stitches, and at end of row I'm left with 2 boxes
Hi Anja and Dirk. I am working on this blanket. For my daughter in laws sister. She’s having a baby boy in September. So far so good. Only thing I am concerned about is the stars. They are very easy to make and I love them on the blanket but….. what about if someone tangles their ring or anything that can damage the star. My idea was to sew it on? I am going to try it. But if you have another idea what would it be? Tons of love from Connecticut, USA.
I'm struggling with the kiss row. It's hard to know if I've gone into the same stitch twice so I'm worried that I may discover I've done this after competing the next double crochet row and have to undo it and keep trying! Is there a way I can count the number of kisses to make sure I'm keeping on track?
@Christine Howall I know that this will mean it will take longer to complete the row but what I would suggest is that you do three kisses at a time and then look at what you've just done - you'll get to recognise what everything should look like, or after you have chained and turned and dc'd into the third stitch, place stitch markers into stitches 5, 7 and 9 to mark where to start kisses 2, 3 and 4 then complete kiss 1 and do kisses 2, 3 and 4, check what they look like. If you're confident carry on with the kisses, if less confiden then repeat with the stitch markers. in total you should have 96 kisses, 1 chain at the start and 2 double crochets at the end.
@@bethdoughty114 Thank you very much Beth. This is really helpful, not just for this stitch but it's really useful advice for any stitches for a newbie. Thanks for taking the time to explain how to approach this, it's very much appreciated.
@@bethdoughty114 Just wanted to let you know that your tips are working perfectly for the next set of kisses in week 3. I'm putting markers every 5 kisses (just 6 markers) and then moving the marker along each time so that I can count and see ahead that I'm keeping to the pattern and the numbers are right. Thank you again!
@@OpheliaTalks Anja, the Wordpress document shows ch 2 for row 39 and the diagram shows two chains. Also on your video you did two chains. I decided it had to be right because you ch 2, turn, and then do six dcs. It seems to work that way, and since I'm on row 55, I'm going to keep doing it the way I've been doing it even if I'm wrong. 🤪
Enjoy crocheting week 2! Anja xxx

@@christinehowell You are very welcome. Happy to have helped.

Anja, is row 39 the only one you start with a ch 2 of rows 35-40?
They all start with a chain 3. Thanks for watching my video Karen H and keep crocheting. Anja xxx💕🌈💕
Please also see the link in the description of the video to go to the blog.
Love it so far but this maybe a little trickier.... I found i had to slow your voice down. :-)
Thank you for watching Sharon Wiscombe ! Anja xxx 💕🌈 You can always rewind the video and replay. Hope this helps.
