Not only do you see how the ruby affects all the customers but you also see how its slowly morphing him as well. Like his mother said, the Ruby has taken a hold of him.
This issue and episode, by Gaiman’s own words, are his darkest works by far. You thought this episode was dark…the comic was worse. Much…MUCH worse. One thing a lot of people don’t notice are the TV news outlets are mimicking the events of the diner to show that the Ruby isn’t just affecting the diner, it was affecting the WORLD.
Yeah, I didn't realize it fully during my first watch but upon revisiting the episode and focusing on the news, you see the havoc the Ruby is causing the world.

Yeah, he looks more decayed as the episode progressed.
I loved the fact we were isolated to just the diner this episode, it really let the characters and mood of the episode really settle in.
I agree :)
Such a compelling episode. I got chills when they adapted the “Thank you John Dee” moment
Yup, they brought in some of those original lines.
The tilted shots are usually called a Dutch Angle.
Ah thanks, that's what I heard once but totally forgot.

New Gildedguy animation just came out :)) Just thought I'd let you know!
Yup I know, thanks
John Dee did nothing wrong.
I wish I had that ruby to use it. To take away the LIES.
I'm sure it would help in certain circumstances
